Abstract:Let R = C [ x 1 , x 2 , … , x n ] / ( f 1 , … , f m ) R= {\Bbb C}[x_1,x_2,\ldots , x_n]/(f_1,\ldots , f_m) be a positively graded Artinian algebra. A long-standing conjecture in algebraic geometry, differential geometry, and rational homotopy theory is the non-existence of negative weight derivations on R R . Alexsandrov conjectured that there are no negative weight derivations when R R is a complete intersection algebra, and Yau conjectured there are no negative weight derivations on R R when R R is the moduli algebra of a weighted homogeneous hypersurface singularity. This problem is also important in rational homotopy theory and differential geometry. In this paper we prove the non-existence of negative weight derivations on R R when the degrees of f 1 , … , f m f_1,\ldots ,f_m are bounded below by a constant C C depending only on the weights of x 1 , … , x n x_1,\ldots ,x_n . Moreover this bound C C is improved in several special cases.

Abstract:Let R=C[x1,x2,⋯,zn]/(f) where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Then R, and Der(R), the Lie algebra of derivations on R, are graded. It is well-known that Der(R) has no negatively graded component [10]. J. Wahl conjectured that the above fact is still true in higher codimensional case provided that R=C[x1,x2,⋯,xn]/(f1,f2,⋯,fm) is an isolated, normal and complete intersection singularity and f1,f2,⋯,fm are weighted homogeneous polynomials with the same weight type (w1,w2,⋯,wn). On the other hand the first author Yau conjectured that the moduli algebra A(V)=C[x1,x2,⋯,xn]/(∂f/∂x1,⋯,∂f/∂xn) has no negatively weighted derivations where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Assuming this conjecture has a positive answer, he gave a characterization of weighted homogeneous hypersurface singularities only using the Lie algebra Der(A(V)) of derivations on A(V). The conjecture of Yau can be thought as an Artinian analogue of J. Wahl's conjecture. For the low embedding dimension, the Yau conjecture has a positive answer. In this paper we prove this conjecture for any high-dimensional singularities under the condition that the lowest weight is bigger than or equal to half of the highest weight.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider asymptotically flat Riemannian manifolds endowed with a continuous metric and the metric is smooth away from a compact subset with certain conditions. If the metric is Lipschitz and the scalar curvature is nonnegative away from a closed subset with (n - 1)-dimensional Hausdorff measure zero, then we prove that the ADM mass of each end is nonnegative. Furthermore, if the ADM mass of some end is zero, then we prove that the manifold is isometric to the Euclidean space. The Hausdorff measure condition is optimal, which confirms a conjecture of Lee in 2013. The proof of the nonnegativity is based on a smoothing argument with some new estimates such as a L-1-scalar curvature approximation estimates. The proof of the rigidity relies on the RCD theory where we show that the manifold has nonnegative Ricci curvature in RCD sense. The idea involving RCD theory in the proof turns out to be much more suitable in the study of the rigidity for continuous metrics. Furthermore, our result generalizes the result of Lee and LeFloch (Commun Math Phys 339(1):99-120, 2015) from spin to non-spin.

Abstract:Let R = C[x(1),x(2), . . . ,x(n)]/(f) where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Then R and Der (R,R) are graded. It is well-known that Der (R,R) does not have a negatively graded component. Wahl conjectured that this is still true for R = C[x(1), x(2), . . . ,x(n)]/(f(1),f(2), . . . ,f(m)) which defines an isolated, normal and complete intersection singularity and f(1),f(2), . . . ,f(m) weighted homogeneous polynomials with the same weight type (w(1),w(2), . . . ,w(n)). Here we give a positive answer to the Wahl Conjecture and its generalization (without the condition of complete intersection singularity) for R when the degree of f(i),1 <= i <= m are bounded below by a constant C depending only on the weights w(1),w(2), . . . ,w(n). Moreover this bound C is improved when any two of w(1),w(2), . . . ,w(n) are coprime. Since there are counter-examples for the Wahl Conjecture and its generalization when f(i) are low degree, our theorem is more or less optimal in the sense that only the lower bound constant can be improved.
Curvatures of Moduli Space of Curves and Applications

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the geometry of the moduli space of curves by using the curvature properties of direct image sheaves of vector bundles. We show that the moduli space $(M_g, \omega_{WP})$ of curves with genus $g>1$ has dual-Nakano negative and semi-Nakano-negative curvature, and in particular, it has non-positive Riemannain curvature operator and also non-positive complex sectional curvature. As applications, we prove that any submanifold in $M_g$ which is totally geodesic in $A_g$ with finite volume must be a ball quotient. We also show that, on a Kodaira (deformation) surface, there is no K\"ahler metric with non-positive Riemannain sectional curvature although it possesses K\"ahler metrics with strictly negative holomorphic bisectional curvature.

Abstract:We briefly survey our recent results about the Mumford goodness of several canonical metrics on the moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces, including the Weil-Petersson metric, the Ricci metric, the Perturbed Ricci metric and the Kahler-Einstein metric. We prove the dual Nakano negativity of the Weil-Petersson metric. As applications of these results we deduce certain important results about the L 2 -cohomology groups of the logarithmic tangent bundle over the compactified moduli spaces.

Abstract:In this paper we describe some recent results on the geometry of the moduli space of Riemann surfaces. We surveyed new and classical metrics on the moduli spaces of hyperbolic Riemann surfaces and their geometric properties. We then discussed the Mumford goodness and generalized goodness of various metrics on the moduli spaces and their deformation invariance. By combining with the dual Nakano negativity of the Weil-Petersson metric we derive various consequences such that the infinitesimal rigidity, the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the log Chern number computations.

Abstract:We propose a conjecture that the monodromy group of a singular hyperbolic metric on a non-hyperbolic Riemann surface is {\it Zariski dense} in ${\rm PSL}(2,\,{\Bbb R})$. By using meromorphic differentials and affine connections, we obtain an evidence of the conjecture that the monodromy group of the singular hyperbolic metric can not be contained in four classes of one-dimensional Lie subgroups of ${\rm PSL}(2,\,{\Bbb R})$. Moreover, we confirm the conjecture if the Riemann surface is either one of the once punctured Riemann sphere, the twice punctured Riemann sphere, a once punctured torus and a compact Riemann surface.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce new invariants to a singularity (V,0), i.e., the derivation Lie algebras Lk(V) of the higher Nash blow-up local algebra Mk(V). A new conjecture about the non-existence of negative weighted derivations of Lk(V) for weighted homogeneous isolated hypersurface singularities is proposed. We verify this conjecture partially. Moreover, we compute the Lie algebra L2(V) for binomial isolated singularities. We also formulate a sharp upper estimate conjecture for the dimension of Lk(V) for weighted homogeneous isolated hypersurface singularities and verify this conjecture for a large class of singularities.

Abstract:Given a perverse sheaf on the moduli stack of principally polarized abelian varieties or the moduli stack of smooth curves with n marked points over a field of characteristic zero, we prove that the (orbifold) Euler characteristic is nonnegative. For constant coefficients, this follows immediately from formulas of Harer-Zagier and Harder. Our proof is different and in the case of abelian varieties uses log Dubson-Kashiwara plus the fact that Hodge bundles are nef. For curves, we require an additional inequality established using Beilinson's gluing construction. The first main result is shown to be false in positive characteristic.

Abstract:We introduce the Hodge moduli algebras and Hodge moduli sequence associated with an isolated hypersurface singularity. These are new subtle invariants of singularities. We propose several characterization conjectures by using of these invariants. We investigate structural properties and numerical invariants of Hodge ideals naturally associated with isolated hypersurface singularities. In particular, we establish that the analytic isomorphisms class of an isolated two dimensional rational hypersurface singularities is determined by the Hodge moduli algebras and Hodge moduli sequence. As a result, we prove that Hodge moduli algebra together with the geometric genus give complete characterization of such singularities. In the proof, we concretely compute the Hodge ideals and the associated Hodge moduli algebras of these singularities.

Abstract:We define the "sum of squares of the wavelengths" of a Riemannian surface (M,g) to be the regularized trace of the inverse of the Laplacian. We normalize by scaling and adding a constant, to obtain a "mass", which is scale invariant and vanishes at the round sphere. This is an anlaog for closed surfaces of the ADM mass from general relativity. We show that if M has positive genus then on each conformal class, the mass attains a negative minimum. For the minimizing metric, there is a sharp logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality and a Moser-Trudinger-Onofri type inequality.

Abstract:Let V be a hypersurface with an isolated singularity at the origin defined by the function of f : ( C-n, 0) -> ( C, 0). Let L(V) be the Lie algebra of derivations of the moduli algebra A(V) :- C {x(1),...,x(n)}/( f, partial derivative f/partial derivative x(1),...,partial derivative f/partial derivative x(n)). It is known that L(V) is a finite dimensional solvable Lie algebra ( [Ya1], [ Ya2]). L(V) is called the Yau algebra of V in [Yu] and [Khi] in order to distinguish from Lie algebras of other types appearing in singularity theory ([AVZ], [AM], [BY]). dimL(V) is called Yau number in [EK],[Khi]. This number is an analytic invariant. In case V is a weighted homogeneous singularity, it is a natural question whether Yau number can be bounded by a number which depends only on the weight. In this paper we formulate a sharp upper estimate conjecture for the Yau number of weighted homogeneous isolated hypersurface singularities. We prove this conjecture for a large class of singularities.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the weighted mass for weighted manifolds. By establishing a version of density theorem and generalizing Geroch conjecture in the setting of $P$-scalar curvature, we are able to prove the positive weighted mass theorem for weighted manifolds, which generalizes the result of Baldauf-Ozuch to non-spin manifolds.

Abstract:Let $V$ be a hypersurface with an isolated singularity at the origin defined by the holomorphic function $f:(\mathbb{C}^{n},0)\rightarrow (\mathbb{C},0)$ . The Yau algebra, $L(V)$ , is the Lie algebra of derivations of the moduli algebra of $V$ . It is a finite-dimensional solvable algebra and its dimension $\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}(V)$ is the Yau number. Fewnomial singularities are those which can be defined by an $n$ -nomial in $n$ indeterminates. Yau and Zuo [‘A sharp upper estimate conjecture for the Yau number of weighted homogeneous isolated hypersurface singularity’, Pure Appl. Math. Q. 12(1) (2016), 165–181] conjectured a bound for the Yau number and proved that this conjecture holds for binomial isolated hypersurface singularities. In this paper, we verify this conjecture for weighted homogeneous fewnomial surface singularities.
