Abstract:This note aims to give a better understanding and some remarks about recent preprint ``Spiral Minimal Products". In particular, 1. it should be pointed out that a generalized Delaunay construction among minimal Lagrangians of complex projective spaces has been set up. This is a general structural result working for immersion and current situations. 2. uncountably many new regular (or irregular) special Lagrangian cones with finite density and ``regular" (or irregular) special Lagrangian cones with infinite density in complex Euclidean spaces can be found.

Abstract:Delone sets are discrete point sets X in characterized by parameters ( r , R ), where (usually) 2 r is the smallest inter-point distance of X , and R is the radius of a largest "empty ball" that can be inserted into the interstices of X . The regularity radius is defined as the smallest positive number such that each Delone set with congruent clusters of radius is a regular system, that is, a point orbit under a crystallographic group. We discuss two conjectures on the growth behavior of the regularity radius. Our "Weak Conjecture" states that as , independent of r . This is verified in the paper for two important subfamilies of Delone sets: those with full-dimensional clusters of radius 2 r and those with full-dimensional sets of d -reachable points. We also offer support for the plausibility of a "Strong Conjecture", stating that as , independent of r .

Abstract:This paper exhibits a structural strategy to produce new minimal submanifolds in spheres based on two given ones. The method is to spin the given minimal submanifolds by a curve $\gamma\subset \mathbb S^3$ in a balanced way and leads to resulting minimal submanifolds $-$ spiral minimal products, which form a two-dimensional family arising from intriguing pendulum phenomena decided by $C$ and $\tilde C$. With $C=0$, we generalize the construction of minimal tori in $\mathbb S^3$ explained in [Bre13] to higher dimensional situations. When $C=-1$, we recapture previous relative work in [CLU06] and [HK12] for special Legendrian submanifolds in spheres, and moreover, can gain numerous $\mathscr C$-totally real and totally real embedded minimal submanifolds in spheres and in complex projective spaces respectively. A key ingredient of the paper is to apply a beautiful extension result of minimal submanifolds by Harvey and Lawson [HL75] for a rotational reflection principle in our situation to establish curve $\gamma$.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the interpolation-degneration strategy to study Kahler-Einstein metrics on a smooth Fano manifold with cone singularities along a smooth divisor that is proportional to the anti-canonical divisor. By interpolation we show the angles in (0,2�) that admit a conical Kahler-Einstein metric form an interval; and by degeneration we figure out the boundary of the interval. As a first application, we show that there exists a Kahler-Einstein metric on P 2 with cone singularity along a smooth conic (degree 2) curve if and only if the angle is in (�/2,2�). When the an- gle is 2�/3 this proves the existence of a Sasaki-Einstein metric on the link of a three dimensional A2 singularity, and thus answers a problem posed by Gauntlett-Martelli- Sparks-Yau. As a second application we prove a version of Donaldson's conjecture about conical Kahler-Einstein metrics in the toric case using Song-Wang's recent existence result of toric invariant conical Kahler-Einstein metrics.

Abstract:We study arrangements of geodesic arcs on a sphere, where all arcs are internally disjoint and each arc has its endpoints located within the interior of other arcs. We establish fundamental results concerning the minimum number of arcs in such arrangements, depending on local geometric constraints such as "one-sidedness" and "k-orientation". En route to these results, we generalize and settle an open problem from CCCG 2022, proving that any such arrangement has at least two "clockwise swirls" and at least two "counterclockwise swirls".

Relative Dolbeault Geometric Langlands via the Regular Quotient

Abstract:Let $X = G/H$ be an affine homogeneous spherical variety with abelian regular centralizer and no type N roots. In this paper, we formulate a relative geometric Langlands conjecture in the Dolbeault setting for $M = T^*X$. More concretely, we conjecture a Fourier-Mukai duality between the Dolbeault period sheaf and a sheaf whose construction closely resembles the Dirac-Higgs bundle of a polarization of the dual symplectic representation of Ben-Zvi, Sakellaridis, and Venkatesh. These conjectures can be seen as a generalization of Hitchin's conjectural duality of branes for symmetric spaces. We verify these conjectures in several cases, including the Friedberg-Jacquet case $X = GL_{2n}/GL_n\times GL_n$, the Jacquet-Ichino case $X = PGL_2^3/PGL_2$, the Rankin-Selberg case $X = GL_n\times GL_{n+1}/GL_n$, and the Gross-Prasad case $X = SO_n\times SO_{n+1}/SO_n$. Our main tool is the theory of the regular quotient, which was described in the context of symmetric spaces in [HM24].

Numerical invariants of normed matrix factorizations

Abstract:We define a normed matrix factorization category and a notion of bounding cochains for objects of this category. We classify bounding cochains up to gauge equivalence for spherical objects and use this classification to define numerical invariants. These invariants are expected to correspond under mirror symmetry to the open Gromov-Witten invariants with only boundary constraints of Lagrangian rational cohomology spheres defined by the second author and Tukachinsky. For each Delzant polytope, we construct a normed matrix factorization category. For Delzant polytopes satisfying a combinatorial relative spin condition, we construct an object of this category called the Dirac factorization. The Dirac factorization is expected to correspond under mirror symmetry to the Lagrangian submanifold given by the real locus of the toric symplectic manifold associated to the Delzant polytope. In the case of the $n$-simplex for $n$ odd, we show that the Dirac factorization is spherical, mirroring the fact that $\mathbb{R} P^n$ is a rational cohomology sphere. For $n = 1,$ we show the numerical invariants of the Dirac factorization coincide with the open Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{R} P^1 \subset \mathbb{C} P^1.$ For $n = 3$ in low degrees, computer calculations verify that the numerical invariants of the Dirac factorization coincide with the open Gromov-Witten-Welschinger invariants of $\mathbb{R}P^3 \subset \mathbb{C} P^3.$ Although $\mathbb{R} P^n$ is trivial in the Fukaya category of $\mathbb{C} P^n$ over any field of characteristic zero, the above results can be seen as a manifestation of mirror symmetry over a Novikov ring.

Abstract:Let $(M, g)$ be a compact 3-manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature $R_g\geq 0$. The boundary $\partial M$ is diffeomorphic to the boundary of a rotationally symmetric and weakly convex body $\bar{M}$ in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We call $(\bar{M}, \delta)$ a model or a reference. Let $H_{\partial M}$ and $\bar{H}_{\partial M}$ be respectively the mean curvatures of $\partial M$ in $(M, g)$ and $\partial M$ in $(\bar{M}, \delta)$, $\sigma$ and $\bar{\sigma}$ be the induced metric from $g$ and $\delta$. We show that for some classes of $\partial M$, if $H_{\partial M} \geq \bar{H}_{\partial M}$, $\sigma \geq \bar{\sigma}$ and the dihedral angles at the nonsmooth part of $\partial M$ are no greater than the model, then $M$ is flat. We also generalize this result to the hyperbolic case and some spaces with $\mathbb{S}^1$-symmetry. Our approach is inspired by Gromov.

Abstract:Geometrical studies of phyllotactic patterns deal with the centric or cylindrical models produced by ideal lattices. van Iterson (Mathematische und mikroskopisch - anatomische Studien über Blattstellungen nebst Betrachtungen über den Schalenbau der Miliolinen, Verlag von Gustav Fischer, Jena, 1907) suggested a centric model representing ideal phyllotactic patterns as disk packings of Bernoulli spiral lattices and presented a phase diagram now called Van Iterson's diagram explaining the bifurcation processes of their combinatorial structures. Geometrical properties on disk packings were shown by Rothen & Koch (J. Phys France, 50(13), 1603-1621, 1989). In contrast, as another centric model, we organized a mathematical framework of Voronoi tilings of Bernoulli spiral lattices and showed mathematically that the phase diagram of a Voronoi tiling is graph-theoretically dual to Van Iterson's diagram. This paper gives a review of two centric models for disk packings and Voronoi tilings of Bernoulli spiral lattices.

Abstract:We lay the groundwork for a UV-complete formulation of the Euclidean Jackiw-Teitelboim two-dimensional models of quantum gravity when the boundary lengths are finite, emphasizing the discretized approach. The picture that emerges is qualitatively new. For the disk topology, the problem reduces to counting so-called self-overlapping curves, that are closed loops that bound a distorted disk, with an appropriate multiplicity. We build a matrix model that does the correct counting. The theories in negative, zero and positive curvatures have the same UV description but drastically different macroscopic properties. The Schwarzian theory emerges in the limit of very large and negative cosmological constant in the negative curvature model, as an effective theory valid on distance scales much larger than the curvature length scale. In positive curvature, we argue that large geometries are ubiquitous and that the theory exists only for positive cosmological constant. Our discussion is pedagogical and includes a review of several relevant topics.

Abstract:The notion of a spiral unfolding of a convex polyhedron, resulting by flattening a special type of Hamiltonian cut-path, is explored. The Platonic and Archimedian solids all have nonoverlapping spiral unfoldings, although among generic polyhedra, overlap is more the rule than the exception. The structure of spiral unfoldings is investigated, primarily by analyzing one particular class, the polyhedra of revolution.

Abstract:Let be a finite set of integer points in , which we assume has many symmetries, and let be a fixed point. We calculate the distances from P to the points in and compare the results. In some of the most common cases, we find that they lead to unexpected conclusions if the dimension is sufficiently large. For example, if is the set of vertices of a hypercube in and P is any point inside, then almost all triangles PAB with are almost equilateral. Or, if P is close to the center of the cube, then almost all triangles PAB with and B anywhere in the hypercube are almost right triangles.

Abstract:Subsurface projection is indispensable to studying the geometry of the mapping class group and the curve complex of a surface. When the subsurface is an annulus, this projection is sometimes called relative twisting. We give two alternate versions of relative twisting for the outer automorphism group of a free group. We use this to describe sufficient conditions for when a folding path enters the thin part of Culler–Vogtmann's Outer space. As an application of our condition, we produce a sequence of fully irreducible outer automorphisms whose axes in Outer space travel through graphs with arbitrarily short cycles; we also describe the asymptotic behavior of their translation lengths.

Aspherical Lagrangian submanifolds, Audin's conjecture and cyclic dilations

Abstract:Given a closed, oriented Lagrangian submanifold $L$ in a Liouville domain $\overline{M}$, one can define a Maurer-Cartan element with respect to a certain $L_\infty$-structure on the string homology $\widehat{H}_\ast^{S^1}(\mathcal{L}L;\mathbb{R})$, completed with respect to the action filtration. When the first Gutt-Hutchings capacity of $\overline{M}$ is finite, and $L$ is a $K(\pi,1)$ space, it leads to interesting geometric implications. In particular, we show that $L$ bounds a non-constant pseudoholomorphic disc of Maslov index 2. This confirms a general form of Audin's conjecture and generalizes the works of Fukaya and Irie in the case of $\mathbb{C}^n$ to a wide class of Liouville manifolds. In particular, when $\dim_\mathbb{R}(\overline{M})=6$, every closed, orientable, prime Lagrangian 3-manifold $L\subset\overline{M}$ is diffeomorphic to a spherical space form, or $S^1\times\Sigma_g$, where $\Sigma_g$ is a closed oriented surface.

Abstract:We introduce a theory of relative tangency for projective algebraic varieties. The dual variety $X_Z^\vee$ of a variety $X$ relative to a subvariety $Z$ is the set of hyperplanes tangent to $X$ at a point of $Z$. We also introduce the concept of polar classes of $X$ relative to $Z$. We explore the duality of varieties of low rank matrices relative to special linear sections. In this framework, we study the critical points of the Euclidean Distance function from a data point to $X$, lying on $Z$. The locus where the number of such conditional critical points is positive is called the ED data locus of $X$ given $Z$. The generic number of such critical points defines the conditional ED degree of $X$ given $Z$. We show the irreducibility of ED data loci, and we compute their dimensions and degrees in terms of relative characteristic classes.
