Abstract:This is the third installment in a series of papers on a one-parameter extension of the Rogers–Ramanujan identities (this extension was discovered independently by Rogers and Ramanujan). In this paper, we report a new proof of this identity. Our key ingredient is the Bridge Lemma, an identity that connects the both sides of the one-parameter refinement, which differ significantly in terms of their complexity.

Abstract:The Rogers–Ramanujan identities and various analogous identities (Gordon, Andrews–Bressoud, Capparelli, etc.) form a family of very deep identities concerned with integer partitions. These identities (written in generating function form) are typically of the form “product side” equals “sum side,” with the product side enumerating partitions obeying certain congruence conditions and the sum side obeying certain initial conditions and difference conditions (along with possibly other restrictions). We use symbolic computation to generate various such sum sides and then use Euler’s algorithm to see which of them actually do produce elegant conjectured product sides. We not only rediscover many of the known identities but also discover some apparently new ones, as conjectures supported by strong mathematical evidence.

Abstract:We derive by analytic means a number of bilateral identities of the Rogers--Ramanujan type. Our results include bilateral extensions of the Rogers--Ramanujan and the Göllnitz-Gordon identities, and of related identities by Ramanujan, Jackson, and Slater. We give corresponding results for multiseries including multilateral extensions of the Andrews--Gordon identities, of the Andrews--Bressoud generalization of the Göllnitz--Gordon identities, of Bressoud's even modulus identities, and other identities. Our closed form bilateral and multilateral summations appear to be the very first of their kind.

Abstract:Using a pair of two variable series-product identities recorded by Ramanujan in the lost notebook as inspiration, we find some new identities of similar type. Each identity immediately implies an infinite family of Rogers-Ramanujan type identities, some of which are well-known identities from the literature. We also use these identities to derive some general identities for integer partitions.

Abstract:A proof of several identities of Ramanujan involving theta functions of level $7$ is given which uses a specific modular function for $\Gamma_1(7)$ and Klein's projective representation of $PSL(2,7)$ into $PSL(3, \mathbb{C})$. Four identities of Berndt and Zhang are derived as algebraic corollaries of the main proof.

A Number Field Analogue of Ramanujan's identity for $ζ(2m+1)$

Abstract:Ramanujan's famous formula for $\zeta(2m+1)$ has captivated the attention of numerous mathematicians over the years. Grosswald, in 1972, found a simple extension of Ramanujan's formula which in turn gives transformation formula for Eisenstein series over the full modular group. Recently, Banerjee, Gupta and Kumar found a number field analogue of Ramanujan's formula. In this paper, we present a new number field analogue of the Ramanujan-Grosswald formula for $\zeta(2m+1)$ by obtaining a formula for Dedekind zeta function at odd arguments. We also obtain a number field analogue of an identity of Chandrasekharan and Narasimhan, which played a crucial role in proving our main identity. As an application, we generalize transformation formula for Eisenstein series $G_{2k}(z)$ and Dedekind eta function $\eta(z)$. A new formula for the class number of a totally real number field is also obtained, which provides a connection with the Kronceker's limit formula for the Dedekind zeta function.

Abstract:In 2012, Chan proved a number of congruences with different moduli for the coefficients of Ramanujan's ϕ function. In particular, he obtained a congruence modulo 5. Chan further conjectured three congruences modulo 25 for the coefficients of Ramanujan's ϕ function. In 2019, Baruah and Begum not only confirmed three conjectural congruences due to Chan, but also established three congruences modulo 125 for this function. In this paper, utilizing the Atkin U-operator and the theory of modular forms, we establish several infinite families of congruences modulo any powers of 5 for the coefficients of Ramanujan's ϕ function.

Abstract:In [4], B. C. Berndt and A. Zaharescu introduced the twisted divisor sums associated with the Dirichlet character while studying the Ramanujan's type identity involving finite trigonometric sums and doubly infinite series of Bessel functions. Later, in a follow-up paper [20], S. Kim extended the definition of the twisted divisor sums to twisted sums of divisor functions. In this paper, we derive identities associated with the aforementioned weighted divisor functions and the modified K-Bessel function in light of recent results obtained by the first author and B. Maji [1]. Moreover, we provide a new expression for L ( 1 , χ ) from which we establish the positivity of L ( 1 , χ ) for any real primitive character χ. In addition, we deduce Cohen-type identities and then exhibit the Voronoï-type summation formulas for them.

On an identity of Delange and its application to Cohen-Ramanujan expansions

Abstract:Srinivasa Ramanujan provided Fourier series expansions of certain arithmetical functions in terms of the exponential sum defined by $c_q(n)=\sum\limits_{\substack{{m=1}\\(m,q)=1}}^{q}e^{\frac{2 \pi imn}{q}}$. Later, H. Delange derived the bound $\sum\limits_{q|k}|c_q(n)|\leq n\, 2^{\omega(k)}$ and gave a sufficient condition for such expansions to exist. A. Grytczuk gave an exact value for this bound, and derived a converse implication of the absolute convergence stated by H. Delange. We here show that these results have natural generalizations in terms of the Cohen-Ramanujan sum $c_q^{(s)}(n)$ defined by E. Cohen in [\emph{Duke Mathematical Journal, 16(85-90):2, 1949}]. We derive a bound as well as exact value for $\sum\limits_{q|k}|c_q^{(s)}(n)|$ and provide a sufficient condition for the Cohen-Ramanujan expansions to exist.

Multiple Rogers--Ramanujan type identities for torus links

Abstract:In this paper, we establish simple $k$-fold summation expressions for the Quot and motivic Cohen--Lenstra zeta functions associated with the $(2,2k)$ torus links. Such expressions lead us to some multiple Rogers--Ramanujan type identities and their finitizations, thereby confirming a conjecture of Huang and Jiang. Several other properties of the two zeta functions will be examined as well.

History and Overview

Abstract:We find an interesting relationship between the golden ratio, the Moebius function, the Euler totient function and the natural logarithm - central players in the theory of numbers. A number of identities involving the golden ratio and its reciprocal are proved, including an expression for the base of the natural logarithm. The theorem and corollaries highlight a connection between the golden ratio and the factorization of integers that is not obvious; and display a sort of inverse relationship between the Moebius function and Euler totient function.

Abstract:Ramanujan stated an identity to the effect that if three sequences $\{a_n\}$, $\{b_n\}$ and $\{c_n\}$ are defined by $r_1(x)=:\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}a_nx^n$, $r_2(x)=:\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}b_nx^n$ and $r_3(x)=:\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}c_nx^n$ (here each $r_i(x)$ is a certain rational function in $x$), then \[ a_n^3+b_n^3-c_n^3=(-1)^n, \hspace{25pt} \forall \,n \geq 0. \] Motivated by this amazing identity, we state and prove a more general identity involving eleven sequences, the new identity being "more general" in the sense that equality holds not just for the power 3 (as in Ramanujan's identity), but for each power $j$, $1\leq j \leq 5$.

Abstract:Inspired by two entries published in Ramanujan's lost notebook on p. 355, Berndt, Kim, and Zaharescu presented Riesz sum identities for the twisted divisor sums. Subsequently, Kim derived analogous results by replacing twisted divisor sums with twisted sums of divisor functions. In a recent work, the authors of the present paper deduced Cohen-type identities and Voronoï summation formulas associated with these twisted sums of divisor functions. The present paper aims to derive an equivalent version of the results offered in the previous article in terms of identities involving finite sums of trigonometric functions and the doubly infinite series. As an application, the authors provide an identity for , which is analogous to Hardy's famous result where denotes the number of representations of natural number n as a sum of six squares.

Abstract:For an arithmetical function $f$, its Ramanujan expansion is a series expansion in the form $f(n)=\sum\limits_{k=1}^{\infty}a(k) c_k(n)$ where $a(k)$ are complex numbers and $c_k(n):= \sum\limits_{\substack{m=1\\(m, k)=1}}^{k}e^{\frac{2\pi imn}{k}}$ is the Ramanujan sum. Here we prove a reciprocity result on Cohen-Ramanujan sums $c_k^s(n) :=\sum\limits_{\substack{{h=1}\\(h,k^s)_s=1}}^{k^s}e^{\frac{2\pi i n h}{k^s}}$ to change the position of $k$ and $n$ in a twisted function and use it to prove that for certain arithmetical functions $f$, Cohen-Ramanujan series expansions in the form $\sum\limits_{k=1}^{\infty}a(k) c_k^{(s)}(n)$ exist if and only if expansions in the form $\sum\limits_{k=1}^{\infty}b(k/n) c_n^{(s)}(k)$ exist.
