Abstract:Species and contents of various constituents,especially sulfides in light benzol are analyzed by gas chromatogram-mass spectrometry (GC-MS),gas chromatogram-flame ionization detector(GC-FID),and gas chromatogram-flame photometric detector(GC-FPD).The results show that the total content of monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon such as benzol,toluene etc.in the light benzol is up to 94.90%;other impurities mainly include sulfide,nitride and olefin etc.,among which removal of thiophene and alkyl thiophene is the vital question in hydro-refining of the light benzol.By comparison of various benzol hydro-refining technologies abroad,it is considered that the low-temperature benzol hydro-refining technology is the preferable benzol refining process for coking enterprises in China.Finally,the development of technologies and catalysts for the crude benzol hydro-refining in China is introduced,and improvements for low-temperature benzol hydro-refining and corresponding catalysts are discussed.

The invention has the advantages that products with high purity and high quality of benzene, methyl benzene and/or methyl benzene and thiophene can be obtained, equipment investment is reduced greatly, processing cost is also greatly reduce, no environmental pollution is produced, and product ratio can be regulated according to market requirement.

Abstract:The invention discloses a crude benzene hydrofining method, and belongs to the application field of crude benzene deep processing. The method sequentially comprises the following steps of: A, crude benzene pretreatment; B, crude benzene hydrogenation; C, pre-rectification; and D, rectification for obtaining pure benzene. The pure benzene obtained in the step D can be used for preparing cyclohexane by hydrogenation, and the cyclohexane is prepared into crude alcoholic ketone by oxidization and decomposition reaction. The method optimizes the crude benzene refining flow and the hydrogenation process parameters; the method is particularly suitable for the condition that the product obtained after the crude benzene hydrofining is used as a raw material for producing the cyclohexane; by implementing the method, the yield of the crude benzene hydrofining product is improved by over 4 percent, and the energy is saved by over 32 percent; and the pure benzene produced by crude benzene hydrogenation fully meet the preparation requirement of cyclohexanone.

Abstract:The separation process for the xylene residue from coking crude benzene hydrogenation process was investigated by vacuum distillation experiments and the xylene residue separation model established by the chemical simulation software PRO II 9.0. Results show that using efficient distillation technology, the separation of coking xylene residue could be realized. To obtain a product purity of above 99% by mass with a recovery of above 95% for indane and tetrahydronaphthalene, the reflux ratios are 15 and 20, respectively, at the theoretical plate number of 60 and pressure of 10kPa. The results provide the necessary basic data for industrial separation of indane and tetrahydronaphthalene products from the xylene residue.

Abstract:The purification of commercial Bibenzyl by zone refining has been investigated with a view to establishing operational parameters and optimum processing conditions. Three factors are inspected, which are zone passing number, translation rate, and zone length. The axial profiles of product purity are determined. Meanwhile, the axial concentration profiles of four main impurities, which are Cyclohexylbenzene, Diphenylmethane, 1,1-Diphenylethane, and 1,2-Diphenylpropane have been also determined. The equilibrium distribution coefficients of the four impurities in Bibenzyl are calculated by measuring their effective distribution coefficients at zone travel rate of 4.97, 8.80, 11.89, and 17.43 mm/h. The results indicate that zone refining of Bibenzyl is very successful. The product purity can increase from 98.3466% to 99.8353% after 8 zone passes. The each additional zone pass and slower translation rate are helpful to purification of Bibenzyl. For 1 pass, longer zone length is better for purification of Bibenzyl. The equilibrium distribution coefficients of Cyclohexylbenzene, Diphenyhnethane, 1,1-Diphenylethane, and 1,2-Diphenylpropane are 0.3917, 0.3677, 0.1687, and 3.8148, respectively.

Abstract:Due to the increase of gasoline consumption and the strictness on gasoline quality as well as the increase of aromatic derivative consumption and increasing demand on hydrogen source of hydrofinishing process in China,it is important to further develop catalytic reforming unit.It is pointed out that the key factor limiting the development in catalytic reforming unit is short of feedstock (naphtha),and the methods to extend and optimize feedstock of catalytic reforming are analyzed and discussed,hoping to turn back the shortage of naphtha.The increase of demand for products and the improvement on feedstock supply of catalytic reforming will lead to the further development in catalytic reforming process in China.

Abstract:Kerosene co-refining heavy oil (KCR-H), KCR-H six group components (KCR-HS), six typical model compounds representing the KCR-HS and its mixed model compound were selected as raw materials. The effects of the physicochemical properties of single and bi-metallic modified HZSM-5 (Me/Z-5) on the selectivity and yield of benzene (B), toluene (T), ethylbenzene (E), xylene (X), naphthalene (N) in cracking products were investigated by pyrolysis–gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer (Py-GC/MS). The results show that Ni-Mo/Z-5 exhibits superior selectivity for light aromatic in the catalytic conversion of tetradecane, benzofuran, and KCR-H, compared with Z-5. Additionally, oxygenated and aliphatic compounds are more easily converted to light aromatics than PAHs and nitrogen-containing compounds. Using Ni-Mo/Z-5 catalytic conversion benzofuran, the selectivity of BTEXN in the cracking product is 65.01 %, which is 23.44 times higher than pyrene (2.66 %). Due to the preferential cracking of benzofuran, small molecular fragments prepared by tetradecane and methyl naphthalene promote the catalytic conversion of methyl phenol, quinoline, and pyrene. Compared with the theoretical BTEXN yield (1338.39 mg/kg), the experimental BTEXN yield obtained from mixed model compounds (MCs) increasing by 37.95 %, which is 1846.40 mg/kg. In addition, the BTEXN selectivity of saturates (Satur) over Ni-Mo/Z-5 is 62.97 %, increases by 12.97 % compared with tetradecane, which represents the components of this group, indicating that the synergistic effect between oxygenated compounds and aliphatic compounds is conducive to produce light aromatics. Furthermore, based on the structural characteristics and catalytic properties of metalmodified Z-5 and the conformational relationships between points, lines, surfaces, and bodies, possible catalytic conversion mechanisms and pathways for KCR-H and KCR-HS were proposed.

Abstract:The sources and compositions of steam cracking C9 cut in China and overseas were reviewed.Hydrotreating is the key technology for C9 cut upgrading.Centering on the hydrotreating utilization of C9 cuts,several new processes were summarized,including production of premium boiling aromatic solvent or gasoline blend,flash oil hydrogenation to solvent and conversion of hydrogenated C9 cuts by hydrodealkylation and transalkylation to BTX(benzene,toluene,xylene).The hydrogenation technologies,as well as catalysts used in hydrotreating,were analyzed and compared,and feedstock pretreatment,reaction process and catalyst design were discussed.

Abstract:The methods of using adding medium and vacuum rectification to get rid of the impurity associated with methyl benzoate are introduced.The components which are more different from methyl benzoate in the temperature of boiling point are got rid of.By adding H 2O 2 and NaHSO 3,extraction reactions are proceeded,aldehyde is got rid of by the two methods,then acid medium is added to vacuum rectification.After refining,the mass fraction of methyl benzoate is 99%～99.9%.The operation condition is that the pressure of rectification tower is 1.33 kPa,the temperature is 90～95 ℃,the tempeture at the top of the tower is 65～68 ℃,the theoretical tower tray number is 54.

Abstract:Exploration and exploitation of oil shale are of increasing interest to the countries with scarce oil reserves. Retorting technology is applied to produce shale oil. However, most of retorting processes waste detrital oil shale and the remaining gas, leading to low economic benefit. An integrated oil shale refinery process with coal gasification in supercritical water is proposed for better economic performance than the conventional retorting processes. In the proposed process, coal in shale mines is gasified in supercritical water to produce hydrogen. The hydrogen is used in the hydrogenation process to upgrade shale oil to diesel, naphtha, liquefied petroleum gas, etc. The detrital oil shale and remaining gas are burned to heat the gasification process. The proposed process is modeled and simulated for techno-economic analysis. The economic performance of the proposed process is compared with that of the conventional retorting process. Results show that the return on investment of the proposed process is 22.72%, much higher than the conventional one, 14.45%.

Abstract:The selective synthesis of specific value-added aromatic hydrocarbons through CO2 hydrogenation holds significant strategic importance in mitigating energy and climate issues. However, the process of forming ethylated side chains on benzene rings is challenging, and the methods reported are often limited by multi-bed systems. Here, we show the first CO2 hydrogenation in tandem coupling with benzene alkylation to synthesize ethylbenzene over a single-bed system containing ZnFeOx and nano ZSM-5 catalysts. The results indicated that the bifunctional catalyst composed of ZnFeOx with a Zn/Fe ratio of 0.5 and nano-HZSM-5 exhibits excellent catalytic performance under optimized conditions. The benzene conversion reaches 28.0 %, ethylbenzene selectivity is 61.3 % and the conversion of CO2 is remarkably high, achieving 45.0 %. This single-bed system significantly promotes the in-situ utilization of ethylation intermediates. The introduction of zinc promoted the formation of ZnFe2O4 spinel, which increased the number of active sites due to its superior dispersibility and reducibility. Nano-HZSM-5 demonstrated outstanding ethylbenzene selectivity and catalytic stability owing to its unique shape selectivity, moderate acidity, and superior diffusion properties. This study further explores the reaction network and mechanism through GC-MS analysis and various model reactions, elucidating the formation pathways of primary products in detail. This research provides a new strategy for the controllable synthesis of ethylbenzene using CO2 as a C1 source in a single-bed system.

Abstract:Utilizing carbon dioxide as a carbon source for the synthesis of olefins and aromatics has emerged as one of the most practical methods for CO2 reduction. In this study, an improved selectivity of 85% for targeting products (ethylbenzene and propylbenzene) is achieved with a benzene conversion of 16.8% by coupling the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to olefins over the bifunctional catalyst "Oxide-Zeolite" (OX-ZEO) and the alkylation of benzene with olefins over ZSM-5. In addition to investigating the influence of SAPO-34 and ZSM-5 zeolite acidity on product distribution, catalyst deactivation due to coke formation is addressed by modifying both molecular sieves to be hierarchical to extend the catalyst lifespan. Even after 100 h of operation at 400 °C, the catalysts maintained over 80% selectivity towards the target products, with benzene conversion over 14.2%. Furthermore, the pathway of propylbenzene formation is demonstrated through simple experimental design, revealing that the surface Brønsted acid sites of SAPO-34 serve as its primary formation sites. This provides a novel perspective for further investigation of the reaction network.

Abstract:Using MVI and HVIH distillates from Dushanzi Petrochemical Company as feedstocks respectively,the experiments of clay refining and complexing-adsorption refining were carried out in the laboratory.The process conditions and the quality of refined oil from these two refining processes were compared.Results indicate that the qualities of refined oils by these two processes all meet the technical requirements of Q/SY 44—2009 standard for lube base oil.However,for MVI feedstock,the qualities of refined oils from complexing-adsorption refining are better;for HVIH feedstock(from hydrocracking tail oil),the qualities of refined oils from both processes are similar.By technical economical analysis of these two processes,it can be seen that using complexing-adsorption refining to substitute clay refining the benefits are as follows: solid waste can be reduced up to 95%,refined oil yield increases 1.62 percentage points,the loss of oil decreases by 80% and comprehensive energy consumption can be reduced 11%,on the whole,the production cost is lowered significantly.

Abstract:The unstable oxygenates of raw bio-oil limit its high-value utilization, which renders the refinement process necessary. Catalytic cracking is one of the promising refining methods and HZSM-5 was found to be an effective catalyst. To investigate the reaction mechanism of catalytic cracking of the oxygenated components in bio-oil, guaiacol and acetic acid, are employed for the catalytic conversion over HZSM-5 and metal modified zeolite Zn/HZSM-5 in a self-designed micro-reactor. Herein, the mechanism of pyrolysis and catalytic cracking was calculated by density functional theory (DFT). For guaiacol, the selectivity of salicylaldehyde decreased from 57.41% to 41.84% and 40.31% over HZSM-5 and Zn/HZSM-5, respectively. In the catalytic cracking over Zn/HZSM-5, the yield of aromatic hydrocarbon increased. More specifically, benzene appeared in the liquid product. For acetic acid, the removal of the oxy-functional group was further promoted by Zn/HZSM-5, the as-formed ketene intermediate continues to react with zeolite catalysts, generating acetyl cation, and finally formed CO and ethylene. Zn/HZSM-5 has a better effect on promoting the reaction of ketene and methoxide since the energy barrier of the rate-determining step in this reaction decreased from 163.27 kJ/mol to 151.19 kJ/mol. Demethoxylation and dehydration were considered to be favored by Lewis acid sites.

Abstract:Benzene, toluene and C8 aromatics (BTX) are the highest added value products of the industrial naphtha reforming process. However, the poor conversion of light paraffins below C7 and the high yield of low value-added heavy aromatics above C9 are the main limitations for the conventional naphtha reforming technology. In this paper, a multi-zone conversion platform is designed for the production of BTX from naphtha using both Pt-Sn/Al2O3 and Pt/KL catalysts, based on the concept of molecular refining. The aromatization of light alkanes below C7, the conversion of naphthene and long-chain alkanes above C8, and the lightening of heavy aromatics above C9 occurred in the platform with different catalysts and operating conditions. The results show that high-selective aromatization of C6 and C7 alkanes and the lightening of C9 and C10 aromatics by hydrogenolysis were achieved at the same time, while the highest BTX yield and aromatic yield were 14.16 and 2.23 percentage points higher than that of conventional naphtha reforming technology. The deactivation rate of Pt/KL catalyst was much lower than previously expected. The multi-zone conversion platform provides new ideas for the concept of molecular refining, makes it possible to maximize the production of BTX and minimize the heavy aromatics yield from naphtha reforming.
