Abstract: The $L_p$-Minkowski problem deals with the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with prescribed $p$-area measures. It extends the classical Minkowski problem and embraces several important geometric and physical applications. The Existence of solutions has been obtained in the sub-critical case $p>-n-1$, but the problem remains widely open in the super-critical case $p<-n-1$. In this paper, we introduce new ideas to solve the problem for all the super-critical exponents. A crucial ingredient in our proof is a topological method based on the calculation of the homology of a topological space of ellipsoids.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the relationship between Sobolev extension domains and homogeneous Sobolev extension domains. Precisely, we obtain the following results. 1- Let $1\leq q\leq p\leq \infty$. Then a bounded $(L^{1, p}, L^{1, q})$-extension domain is also a $(W^{1, p}, W^{1, q})$-extension domain. 2- Let $1\leq q\leq p<q^\star\leq \infty$ or $n< q \leq p\leq \infty$. Then a bounded domain is a $(W^{1, p}, W^{1, q})$-extension domain if and only if it is an $(L^{1, p}, L^{1, q})$-extension domain. 3- For $1\leq q<n$ and $q^\star<p\leq \infty$, there exists a bounded domain $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ which is a $(W^{1, p}, W^{1, q})$-extension domain but not an $(L^{1, p}, L^{1, q})$-extension domain for $1 \leq q <p\leq n$.

Abstract:In this article, we study $(p,q)$-extension operators of Sobolev spaces, based on the duality of composition operators within these spaces. We construct Sobolev extension operators in Hölder singular domains using corresponding reflections. In addition, we use the $(p,q)$-extension operators to estimate non-linear Neumann eigenvalues.

On the Smoothness of Zero-Extensions

Abstract:This note investigates the regularity of zero-extensions of $L^p$ functions from bounded domains. Simple examples show the possibility of a loss in smoothness and our goal is to quantify this loss more generally. For the unit cube $\mathcal{Q}=[0,1]^d$, one of our main results is a bound for the $L^p$ modulus of continuity of zero-extensions. Using this, we prove that nonconstant functions in the Besov space $B^\alpha_{p,q}(\mathcal{Q})$ have zero-extensions in $B^\beta_{p,r}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ with $\beta=\frac\alpha{\alpha p+1}$ and $r=q(1+\alpha p)$. This seems to be new when $\frac1p\leq\alpha<1$. The key idea behind the main estimate is to use piecewise constant approximation on dyadic subcubes. This technique can likely be sharpened, even for the unit cube, and extended to less regular domains.

$L^p$-Sobolev inequalities on Euclidean submanifolds

Abstract:The paper is devoted to prove Allard-Michael-Simon-type $L^p$-Sobolev $(p>1)$ inequalities with explicit constants on Euclidean submanifolds of any codimension. Such inequalities contain, beside the Dirichlet $p$-energy, a term involving the mean curvature of the submanifold. Our results require separate discussions for the cases $p\geq 2$ and $1<p<2$, respectively; in particular, for $p\geq 2$, the coefficient in front of the Dirichlet $p$-energy is asymptotically sharp and codimension-free. Our argument is based on optimal mass transport theory on Euclidean submanifolds and it also provides an alternative, unified proof of the recent isoperimetric inequalities of Brendle (J. Amer. Math. Soc., 2021) and Brendle and Eichmair (Notices Amer. Math. Soc., 2024).

Abstract:Let $L^{s,p}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ denote the homogeneous Sobolev-Slobodeckij space. In this paper, we demonstrate the existence of a bounded linear extension operator from the jet space $J^{\lfloor s \rfloor}_E L^{s,p}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ to $L^{s,p}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ for any $E \subseteq \mathbb{R}^n$, $p \in [1, \infty)$, and $s \in (0, \infty)$ satisfying $\frac{n}{p} < \{s\}$, where $\{s\}$ represents the fractional part of $s$. Our approach builds upon the classical Whitney extension operator and uses the method of exponentially decreasing paths.

Abstract:We study Hajlasz-Sobolev type spaces on metric spaces that depend on quasidistances; in particular, we may take the quasi-distance to be the power or of the metric with sigma > 1, if the metric space is highly irregular or porous. We take the Sierpinski gasket in R-2 as an example, and show that the Hajlasz-Sobolev type space is non-trivial for 1 < or < beta(p)/p with beta(p) characterizing the intrinsic property of the Sierpinski gasket. This work was strongly motivated by [8], and generalizes the result in [9] to any 1 < p < infinity.

Abstract:Burq-Gérard-Tzvetkov and Hu established $L^p$ estimates for the restriction of Laplace-Beltrami eigenfunctions to submanifolds. We investigate the eigenfunctions of the Schrödinger operators with critically singular potentials, and estimate the $L^p$ norms and period integrals for their restriction to submanifolds. Recently, Blair-Sire-Sogge obtained global $L^p$ bounds for Schrödinger eigenfunctions by the resolvent method. Due to the Sobolev trace inequalities, the resolvent method cannot work for submanifolds of all dimensions. We get around this difficulty and establish spectral projection bounds by the wave kernel techniques and the bootstrap argument involving an induction on the dimensions of the submanifolds.

$L^p$-bounds in Safarov pseudo-differential calculus on manifolds with bounded geometry

Abstract:Given a smooth complete Riemannian manifold with bounded geometry $(M,g)$ and a linear connection $\nabla$ on it (not necessarily a metric one), we prove the $L^p$-boundedness of operators belonging to the global pseudo-differential classes $\Psi_{\rho, \delta}^m\left(\Omega^\kappa, \nabla, \tau\right)$ constructed by Safarov. Our result recovers classical Fefferman's theorem, and extends it to the following two situations: $\rho>1/3$ and $\nabla$ symmetric; and $\nabla$ flat with any values of $\rho$ and $\delta$. Moreover, as a consequence of our main result, we obtain boundedness on Sobolev and Besov spaces and some $L^p-L^q$ boundedness. Different examples and applications are presented.

Abstract:We study the basic question of characterizing which boundary homeomorphisms of the unit sphere can be extended to a Sobolev homeomorphism of the interior in 3D space. While the planar variants of this problem are well-understood, completely new and direct ways of constructing an extension are required in 3D. We prove, among other things, that a Sobolev homeomorphism φ : R 2 → onto R 2 in W loc 1 , p ( R 2 , R 2 ) for some p ∈ [ 1 , ∞ ) admits a homeomorphic extension h : R 3 → onto R 3 in W loc 1 , q ( R 3 , R 3 ) for 1 ⩽ q < 3 2 p . Such an extension result is nearly sharp, as the bound q = 3 2 p cannot be improved due to the Hölder embedding. The case q = 3 gains an additional interest as it also provides an L 1 -variant of the celebrated Beurling-Ahlfors quasiconformal extension result.

On $L^p$ extremals for Fourier extension estimate to fractional surface

Abstract:This article investigates the Fourier extension operator associated to the fractional surface $(\xi,|\xi|^{\alpha})$ with $\alpha\geq 2$. We show that nearly all valid scale-invariant Fourier extension inequalities possess extremals. More precisely, if the Fourier extension operator is bounded for an endpoint $p_0$, then for all $1<p< p_0$, the corresponding $L^p$-extremal sequences are precompact up to symmetries. In particular, we have developed the relevant $L^p$-profile decomposition for these Fourier extension operators.

Abstract:We present a general $L_p$-solvability result for the classical heat equation and time-fractional heat equations in non-smooth domains with the zero Dirichlet boundary condition. We consider domains $\Omega$ admitting the Hardy inequality: There exists a constant $N>0$ such that $$ \int_{\Omega}\Big|\frac{f(x)}{d(x,\partial\Omega)}\Big|^2\mathrm{d}x\leq N\int_{\Omega}|\nabla f|^2 \mathrm{d} x\quad\text{for any}\quad f\in C_c^{\infty}(\Omega)\,. $$ To illustrate the boundary behavior of solutions in a general framework, we employ a weight system composed of a superharmonic function and a distance function to the boundary. Further, we investigate applications for various non-smooth domains, including convex domains, domains with exterior cone condition, totally vanishing exterior Reifenberg domains, and domains $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^d$ for which the Aikawa dimension of $\Omega^c$ is less than $d-2$. By using superharmonic functions tailored to the geometric conditions of the domain, we derive weighted $L_p$-solvability results for various non-smooth domains, with specific weight ranges that vary by domain condition. In addition, we provide an application for the Hölder continuity of solutions in domains with the volume density condition, and a pointwise estimate for solutions in Lipschitz cones.

Abstract:This study investigates the boundedness of the $ H^\infty $-calculus for the negative discrete Laplace operator subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The discrete Laplace operator is realized via the finite element method, and we demonstrate that its $ H^\infty $-calculus is uniformly bounded with respect to the spatial mesh size. Using this result, we deduce the discrete stochastic maximal $ L^p $-regularity estimate for a spatial semidiscretization. Additionally, we provide (almost) optimal error estimates for the semidiscretization under a broad class of spatial $ L^q $-norms.
