Abstract:We dualise the classical fact that an operad with multiplication leads to cohomology groups which form a Gerstenhaber algebra to the context of cooperads: as a result, a cooperad with comultiplication induces a homology theory that is endowed with the structure of a Gerstenhaber coalgebra, that is, it comes with a graded cocommutative coproduct which is compatible with a coantisymmetric cobracket in a dual Leibniz sense. As an application, one obtains Gerstenhaber coalgebra structures on Tor groups over bialgebras or Hopf algebras, as well as on Hochschild homology for Frobenius algebras.

Abstract:We discuss free probability theory and free harmonic analysis from a categorical perspective. In order to do so, we extend first the set of analytic convolutions and operations and then show that the comonadic structure governing free probability is isomorphic to several well-known categories of algebras, such as, e.g., Witt vectors, differential algebras, etc. Within this framework moment-cumulant formulae are shown to correspond to natural transformations and not to be exclusive to probability theories. Finally, we start to discuss free probability and in particular free harmonic analysis from the point of view of algebraic theories and operads.

Abstract:We provide bar and cobar constructions as functors acting between various categories of curved operads and curved cooperads. Cobar and bar constructions are adjoint to each other. Given a twisting cochain between a curved augmented cooperad C with an extra grading and a curved operad O we construct a couple of adjoint functors between the category of curved O-modules and the category of curved C-comodules. The important feature is that the curved operad O is not necessarily augmented.

Abstract:There are many previous studies on the Hopf algebra $K(n)_*(K(n))$, the stable cooperations of $n$th Morava $K$-theory at an odd prime. Whereas the main part of $K(n)_*(K(n))$ corepresents the group-valued functor consisting of strict automorphisms of the Honda formal group law of height $n$, relations between the whole structure of $K(n)_*(K(n))$ including the exterior part and formal group laws have not been investigated well. Firstly, we constitute a functor $C(-)$ which is given by the fiber product of two natural homomorphism between subgroups of automorphisms of formal group laws, and the Hopf algebra $C_*$ corepresenting $C(-)$. Next, we construct a Hopf algebra homomorphism $\kappa^*:C_*\to K(n)_*(K(n))$ naturally. To relate $C_*$ to $K(n)_*(K(n))$, we use stable comodule algebras which are introduced by Boardman. From the algebra structure of $K(n)_*(K(n))$ which is given by Würgler and Yagita, we see that $\kappa^*$ is an isomorphism. Since we formulate $C_*$ by using formal group laws, the isomorphism $\kappa^*$ clarifies relationship between the Hopf algebra structure of $K(n)_*(K(n))$ including the exterior algebra part and formal group laws.

Abstract:We define a new cyclic module, dual to the Connes-Moscovici cyclic module, for Hopf algebras, and give a characteristric map for the coaction of Hopf algebras. We also compute the resulting cyclic homology for cocommutative Hopf algebras, and some quantum groups.

Abstract:We analyze the conductance of the quantum point contact containing large localized spin J. The additional plateau is formed on a ballistic conductance staircase if only one propagating channel is rendered conducting. The conductance value at this plateau is shown to depend strongly on J and decrease from 3e^2/2h to e^2/h when J increases from 1/2 to infinity, which is in a good agreement with the experimental observations [D.J. Reilly, et al, Phys. Rev. B 63, 121311 (2001)].

Abstract:We define and study binary operations for homotopy groups with coefficients. We give conditions to prove that certain binary operations are the homomorphic image of the generalized Whitehead product. This allows carrying over properties of the generalized Whitehead product to these operations. We discuss two classes of binary operations, the Whitehead products and the Torsion products. We introduce a new class of operations called Ext operations and determine some of its properties. We compare the Torsion product to the Whitehead product in a special case. We prove that the smash product of two Moore spaces has the homotopy type of a wedge of two Moore spaces.

Abstract:We study the Moore complex of a simplicial cocommutative Hopf algebra through Hopf kernels. The most striking result to emerge from this construction is the coherent definition of 2-crossed modules of cocommutative Hopf algebras. This unifies the 2-crossed module theory of groups and of Lie algebras when we take the group-like and primitive functors into consideration.

Abstract:We use Hopf algebroids to formulate a notion of a noncommutative and non-cocommutative Hopf 2-algebra. We show how these arise from a bicrossproduct Hopf algebra with Peiffer identities. In particular, we show that for a Hopf algebra $H$ with bijective antipode, the mirror bicrossproduct Hopf algebra $H\triangleright\!\!\!\blacktriangleleft H_{cop}$ is a Hopf 2-algebra. We apply the theorem on Sweedler's Hopf algebra as an example.

Abstract:Let H be a coFrobenius Hopf algebra over a field k. Let A be a right H-comodule algebra over k. We recall that the category of right H-comodules admits a certain model structure whose homotopy category is equivalent to the stable category of right H-comodules given in Farina's paper. In the first part of this paper, we show that the category of left A-module objects in the category of right H-comodules admits a model structure, which becomes a model subcategory of the category of H*-equivariant A-modules endowed with a model structure given in the author's previous paper if H is finite dimensional with a certain assumption. Note that this category is not a Frobenius category in general. We also construct a functorial cofibrant replacement by proceeding the similar argument as in Qi's paper. In the latter half of this paper, we see that cyclic H-comodules which give Hopf-cyclic (co)homology with coefficients in Hopf H-modules are contructible in the homotopy category of right H-comodules, and we investigate a Hopf-cyclic (co)homology in slightly modified setting by assuming A a right H-comodule k-Hopf algebra with H-colinear bijective antipode in stable category of right H-comodules and give an analogue of the characteristic map. We remark that, as an expansion of an idea of taking trivial comodule k as the coefficients, if we take an A-coinvariant part of M assuming M a Hopf A-module in the category of right H-comodules, we have the degree shift of cyclic modules.

Abstract:We show that under mild conditions on the monoidal base category $\mathcal V$, the category ${\sf VHopf}$ of Hopf $\mathcal V$-categories is locally presentable and deduce the existence of free and cofree Hopf categories. We also provide an explicit description of the free and cofree Hopf categories over a semi-Hopf category. One of the conditions on the base category $\mathcal V$, states that endofunctors obtained by tensoring with a fixed object preserve jointly monic families, which leads us to the notion of ``very flat monoidal product'', which we investigate in particular for module categories.

Cohomology rings of extended powers and free infinite loop spaces

Abstract:We calculate mod-p cohomology of extended powers, and their group completions which are free infinite loop spaces. We consider the cohomology of all extended powers of a space together and identify a Hopf ring structure with divided powers within which cup product structure is more readily computable than on its own. We build on our previous calculations of cohomology of symmetric groups, which are the cohomology of extended powers of a point, the well-known calculation of homology, and new results on cohomology of symmetric groups with coefficients in the sign representation. We then use this framework to understand cohomology rings of related spaces such as infinite extended powers and free infinite loop spaces. v2 typo in gradings of Theorem 2.35 corrected.

Abstract:We present a rich source of Hopf algebras starting from a cofinite central extension of a Noetherian Hopf algebra and a subgroup of the algebraic group of characters of the central Hopf subalgebra. The construction is transparent from a Tannakian perspective. We determine when the new Hopf algebras are co-Frobenius, or cosemisimple, or Noetherian, or regular, or have finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension.

Abstract:We introduce a general definition for colored cyclic operads over a symmetric monoidal ground category, which has several appealing features. The forgetful functor from colored cyclic operads to colored operads has both adjoints, each of which is relatively simple. Explicit formulae for these adjoints allow us to lift the Cisinski--Moerdijk model structure on the category of colored operads enriched in simplicial sets to the category of colored cyclic operads enriched in simplicial sets.

Abstract:We construct a co- t t -structure on the derived category of coherent sheaves on the nilpotent cone N \mathcal {N} of a reductive group, as well as on the derived category of coherent sheaves on any parabolic Springer resolution. These structures are employed to show that the push-forwards of the “exotic parity objects” (considered by Achar, Hardesty, and Riche [Transform. Groups 24 (2019), pp. 597–657]), along the (classical) Springer resolution, give indecomposable objects inside the coheart of the co- t t -structure on N \mathcal {N} . We also demonstrate how the various parabolic co- t t -structures can be related by introducing an analogue to the usual translation functors. As an application, we give a proof of a scheme-theoretic formulation of the relative Humphreys conjecture on support varieties of tilting modules in type A A for p > h p>h .

Abstract:We introduce a geometric method to study additive combinatorial problems. Using equivariant cohomology we reprove the Dias da Silva–Hamidoune theorem. We improve a result of Sun on the linear extension of the Erdős–Heilbronn conjecture. We generalize a theorem of G. Kós (the Grashopper problem) which in some sense is a simultaneous generalization of the Erdős–Heilbronn conjecture. We also prove a signed version of the Erdős—Heilbronn conjecture and the Grashopper problem. Most identities used are based on calculating the projective degree of an algebraic variety in two different ways.

Abstract:We use sheaves of spectra to quantize a Hamiltonian $\coprod\limits_n BO(n)$-action on $\varinjlim\limits_{N}T^*\mathbf{R}^N$ that naturally arises from Bott periodicity. We employ the category of correspondences developed in [GaRo] to give an enrichment of stratified Morse theory by the $J$-homomorphism. This provides a key step in the following work [Jin] on the proof of a claim in [JiTr]: the classifying map of the local system of brane structures on an (immersed) exact Lagrangian submanifold $L\subset T^*\mathbf{R}^N$ is given by the composition of the stable Gauss map $L\rightarrow U/O$ and the delooping of the $J$-homomorphism $U/O\rightarrow B\mathrm{Pic}(\mathbf{S})$. We put special emphasis on the functoriality and (symmetric) monoidal structures of the categories involved, and as a byproduct, we produce several concrete constructions of (commutative) algebra/module objects and (right-lax) morphisms between them in the (symmetric) monoidal $(\infty, 2)$-category of correspondences, generalizing the construction out of Segal objects in [GaRo], which might be of interest by its own.

Abstract:A tapered semiconductor amplifier is injection seeded by a femtosecond optical frequency comb at 780 nm from a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser. Energy gains over 17 dB (12 dB) are obtained for 1 mW (20 mW) of average input power when the input pulses are stretched into the picosecond range. A spectral window of supercontinuum light generated in a photonic fiber has also been amplified. Interferometric measurements show sub-hertz linewidths for a heterodyne beat between the input and amplified comb components, yielding no detectable phase-noise degradation under amplification. These amplifiers can be used to boost the infrared power in f-to-2f interferometers used to determine the carrier-to-envelope offset frequency, with clear advantages for stabilization of octave-spanning femtosecond lasers and other supercontinuum light sources with very limited power in the infrared.
