Abstract:We consider $\mathcal{A}$-finite map germs $f$ from $(\mathbb{C}^n,0)$ to $(\mathbb{C}^{2n},0)$. First, we show that the number of double points that appears in a stabilization of $f$, denoted by $d(f)$, can be calculated as the length of the local ring of the double point set $D^2(f)$ of $f$, given by the Mond's ideal. In the case where $n\leq 3$ and $f$ is quasihomogeneous, we also present a formula to calculate $d(f)$ in terms of the weights and degrees of $f$. Finally, we consider an unfolding $F(x,t) = (f_t(x),t)$ of $f$ and we find a set of invariants whose constancy in the family $f_t$ is equivalent to the Whitney equisingularity of $F$. As an application, we present a formula to calculate the Euler obstruction of the image of $f$.

Abstract:We produce new examples supporting the Mond conjecture which can be stated as follows. The number of parameters needed for a miniversal unfolding of a finitely determined map-germ from $n$-space to $(n+1)$-space is less than (or equal to if the map-germ is weighted homogeneous) the rank of the $n$th homology group of the image of a stable perturbation of the map-germ. We give examples of finitely determined map-germs of corank 2 from 3-space to 4-space satisfying the conjecture. We introduce a new type of augmentations to generate series of finitely determined map-germs in dimensions $(n,n+1)$ from a given one in dimensions $(n-1,n)$. We present more examples in dimensions $(4,5)$ and $(5,6)$ based on our examples, and verify the conjecture for them.

Abstract:We characterize diffeomorphisms that are C-1 away from homoclinic tangencies by using dominated splittings on the C-1 preperiodic sets. More precisely, we prove that a diffeomorphism f cannot be C-1 approximated by systems with homoclinic tangencies if and only if for all 1 less than or equal to i less than or equal to d(-1), the C-1 i-preperiodic set P-*(i) (f) of f has i-dominated splitting.

Abstract:Let $f: M \to M$ denote a diffeomorphism of a smooth manifold $M$. Let $p$ in $M$ be its hyperbolic fixed point with stable and unstable manifolds $W_S$ and $W_U$, respectively. Assume that $W_S$ is a curve. Suppose that $W_U$ and $W_S$ have a degenerate homoclinic crossing at a point $B\ne p$, i.e., they cross at $B$ tangentially with a finite order of contact. It is shown that, subject to $C^1$-linearizability and certain conditions on the invariant manifolds, a transverse homoclinic crossing will arise arbitrarily close to $B$. This proves the existence of a horseshoe structure arbitrarily close to $B$, and extends a similar planar result of Homburg and Weiss.

Abstract:In this paper we study the dynamics of germs of quasi-parabolic one-resonant biholomorphisms of ℂ n+1 fixing the origin, namely, those germs whose differential at the origin has one eigenvalue 1 and the others having a one-dimensional family of resonant relations. We define some invariants and give conditions which ensure the existence of attracting domains for such maps.

Abstract:Using nonstandard analysis we define a topology on the ring of germs of functions: $(mathbb R^n,0)\rightarrow(mathbb R,0)$. We prove that this topology is absolutely convex, Hausdorff, that convergent nets of continuous germs have continuous germs as limits and that, for continuous germs, ring operations and compositions are continuous. This topology is not first countable, and, in fact, we prove that no good first countable topology exists. We give a spectrum of standard working descriptions for this topology. Finally, we identify this topological ring as a generalized metric space and examine some consequences.

Abstract:Abstract The mapping class group $\Gamma ^k(N_g)$ of a non-orientable surface with punctures is studied via classical homotopy theory of configuration spaces. In particular, we obtain a non-orientable version of the Birman exact sequence. In the case of ${\mathbb{R}} \textrm{P}^2$, we analyze the Serre spectral sequence of a fiber bundle $F_k({\mathbb{R}}{\textrm{P}}^{2}) / \Sigma _k \to X_k \to BSO(3)$ where $X_k$ is a $K(\Gamma ^k({\mathbb{R}} \textrm{P}^2),1)$ and $F_k({\mathbb{R}}{\textrm{P}}^{2}) / \Sigma _k$ denotes the configuration space of unordered $k$-tuples of distinct points in ${\mathbb{R}} \textrm{P}^2$. As a consequence, we express the mod-2 cohomology of $\Gamma ^k({\mathbb{R}} \textrm{P}^2)$ in terms of that of $F_k({\mathbb{R}}{\textrm{P}}^{2}) / \Sigma _k$.
The Connectedness Homomorphism between Discrete Morse Complexes

Abstract:Given two discrete Morse functions on a simplicial complex, we introduce the {\em connectedness homomorphism} between the corresponding discrete Morse complexes. This concept leads to a novel framework for studying the connectedness in discrete Morse theory at the chain complex level. In particular, we apply it to describe a discrete analogy to `cusp-degeneration' of Morse complexes. A precise comparison between smooth case and our discrete cases is also given.

Abstract:We construct a spectral sequence converging to the cohomology with compact support of the m-th contact locus of a complex polynomial. The first page is explicitly described in terms of a log resolution and coincides with the first page of McLean's spectral sequence converging to the Floer cohomology of the m-th iterate of the monodromy, when the polynomial has an isolated singularity. Inspired by this connection, we conjecture that if two germs of holomorphic functions are embedded topologically equivalent, then the Milnor fibers of the their tangent cones are homotopy equivalent.

Abstract:Frenkel and Gross constructed a family of connections on $\mathbb{P}^1\backslash\{0,\infty\}$, for almost simple groups $\check{G}$ and their representations. In this article, we calculate the irregular Hodge numbers of these Frenkel--Gross connections, and, as an application, we prove a conjecture of Katzarkov--Kontsevich--Pantev for mirror Landau-Ginzburg models of minuscule homogeneous spaces.

Abstract:The moduli space $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n}$ of $n$ pointed stable curves of genus $0$ admits an action of the symmetric group $S_n$ by permuting the marked points. We provide a closed formula for the character of the $S_n$-action on the cohomology of $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n}$. This is achieved by studying wall crossings of the moduli spaces of quasimaps which provide us with a new inductive construction of $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n}$, equivariant with respect to the symmetric group action. Moreover we prove that $H^{2k}(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n})$ for $k\le 3$ and $H^{2k}(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n})\oplus H^{2k-2}(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n})$ for any $k$ are permutation representations. Our method works for related moduli spaces as well and we provide a closed formula for the character of the $S_n$-representation on the cohomology of the Fulton-MacPherson compactification $\mathbb{P}^1[n]$ of the configuration space of $n$ points on $\mathbb{P}^1$ and more generally on the cohomology of the moduli space $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n}(\mathbb{P}^{m-1},1)$ of stable maps.

Abstract:We study germs of analytic maps $f:(X,S)\rightarrow(\mathbb{C}^p,0)$, when $X$ is an ICIS of dimension $n<p$. We define an image Milnor number, generalizing Mond's definition, $\mu_I(X,f)$ and give results known for the smooth case such as the conservation of this quantity by deformations. We also use this to characterise the Whitney equisingularity of families of corank one map germs $f_t\colon(\mathbb{C}^n,S)\to(\mathbb{C}^{n+1},0)$ with isolated instabilities in terms of the constancy of the $\mu_I^*$-sequences of $f_t$ and the projections $\pi\colon D^2(f_t)\to\mathbb{C}^n$, where $D^2(f_t)$ is the ICIS given by double point space of $f_t$ in $\mathbb{C}^n\times\mathbb{C}^n$. The $\mu_I^*$-sequence of a map germ consist of the image Milnor number of the map germ and all its successive transverse slices.

Abstract:We recursively define a sequence $\{F_{n,k}\}_{n,k\in\mathbb N }$ and we prove that such sequence contains only the symbols $\{0,1\}.$ We investigate some number-theoretic properties of such sequence and of the way it can be generated. The number $F_n$ can be interpreted as the number of fixed points of semilength $n$ of the map $\gamma$ introduced by Barnabei et al. Our results partially answer conjectures posed by Cori et al.

Abstract:Let X be a reduced complex-analytic germ of pure dimension n\ge2, with arbitrary singularities (not necessarily normal or complete intersection). Various homology cycles on Link_\ep[X] vanish at different speeds when \ep\to0. We give a condition ensuring fast vanishing loops on X. The condition is in terms of the discriminant and the covering data for "convenient" coverings X\to (C^n,o). No resolution of singularities is involved.

Abstract:Let f be a germ of a holomorphic diffeomorphism of C(n) with the origin 0 being a quasi-parabolic fixed point, i.e. the spectrum of df(O) consists of 1 and e(2i pi theta j) with theta(j) is an element of R\Q. We show that f is locally holomorphically conjugated to its linear part, if f is of some particular form and its eigenvalues satisfy certain arithmetic conditions. When the spectrum of df(O) does not consist of any 1's, this is the classical result of Siegel [C. L. Siegel. Iteration of analytic functions. Ann. of Math. 43 (1942), 607-612] and Brjuno [A. D. Brjuno. Analytic form of differential equations. Trans. Moscow Math. Soc. 25 (1971), 131-288; 26 (1972), 199-239].

Abstract:The authors study the continuity estimate of the solutions of almost harmonic maps with the perturbation term f in a critical integrability class（Zygmund class）L n/2 log q L, n is the dimension with n ≥ 3. They prove that when q ＞ n/2 the solution must be continuous and they can get continuity modulus estimates. As a byproduct of their method, they also study boundary continuity for the almost harmonic maps in high dimension.

Abstract:We prove that if $f\colon\mathbb{C}^p\rightarrow\mathbb{P}^n(\mathbb{C})$ is a holomorphic mapping of maximal rank whose image lies in the Fermat hypersurface of degree $d>(n+1)\max\{n-p,1\}$, then its image is contained in a linear subspace of dimension at most $\bigg[\dfrac{n-1}{2}\bigg]$. Analog in the logarithmic case is also given. Our result strengthens a classical result of Green and provides a Nevanlinna theoretic proof for a recent result due to Etesse.
