Abstract:In this paper, we characterize meromorphic solutions $f(z_1,z_2),g(z_1,z_2)$ to the generalized Fermat Diophantine functional equations $h(z_1,z_2)f^m+k(z_1,z_2)g^n=1$ in $\mathbf{C}^2$ for integers $m,n\geq2$ and nonzero meromorphic functions $h(z_1,z_2),k(z_1,z_2)$ in $\mathbf{C}^2$. Meromorphic solutions to associated partial differential equations are also studied.

Abstract:In this paper, we study entire solutions and meromorphic solutions of the following Fermat Diophantine functional equations h( z_1, z_2) f+k( z_1, z_2) g^n=1 in ℂ^2 for integers n≥ 2 , where h( z_1, z_2) and k( z_1, z_2) are non-zero meromorphic functions in ℂ^2 , and show that f and g can reduce to a constant or rational function under the conditions that (kg^n)_z_1≢0 , ℒ( (hf)_z_2) ⊆ℒ( (kg^n)_z_1/(kg^n-1)) and ℒ(f)⊆ℒ( (kg^n)_z_1/(kg^n-1)) ignoring multiplicities or counting multiplicities.

Abstract: In this paper, we consider some hybrid Diophantine equations of addition and multiplication. We first improve a result on new Hilbert-Waring problem. Then we consider the equation \begin{equation} \begin{cases} A+B=C ABC=D^n \end{cases} \end{equation} where $A,B,C,D,n \in\ZZ_{+}$ and $n\geq3$, which may be regarded as a generalization of Fermat's equation $x^n+y^n=z^n$. When $\gcd(A,B,C)=1$, $(1)$ is equivalent to Fermat's equation, which means it has no positive integer solutions. We discuss several cases for $\gcd(A,B,C)=p^k$ where $p$ is an odd prime. In particular, for $k=1$ we prove that $(1)$ has no nonzero integer solutions when $n=3$ and we conjecture that it is also true for any prime $n>3$. Finally, we consider equation $(1)$ in quadratic fields $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{t})$ for $n=3$.

Abstract:In this paper, by making use of properties of elliptic functions, we describe meromorphic solutions of Fermat-type functional equations $f(z)^{n}+f(L(z))^{m}=1$ over the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$, where $L(z)$ is a nonconstant entire function, $m$ and $n$ are two positive integers. As applications, we also consider meromorphic solutions of Fermat-type difference and $q$-difference equations.

Abstract:Let $f\in {\mathbb {Q}}[X]$ be a polynomial without multiple roots and $deg(f)\ge 2$. We consider the Diophantine equation $f(x)f(y)=f(z^2)$. For two classes of irreducible quadratic polynomials, this equation has infinitely many nontrivial integer solutions, if the corresponding Pell’s equations satisfy a condition. For a special cubic polynomial, it has a one-parameter family of rational solutions. For $f(X)=X(X^2+X+k)$ and $X(X^2+kX+1)$ there are infinitely many $k \in {\mathbb {Q}}$ such that the title equation has rational solutions.
On Darmon's program for the Generalized Fermat equation, II

Abstract:We obtain additional Diophantine applications of the methods surrounding Darmon's program for the generalized Fermat equation developed in the first part of this series of papers. As a first application, we use a multi-Frey approach combining two Frey elliptic curves over totally real fields, a Frey hyperelliptic curve over $\mathbb{Q}$ due to Kraus, and ideas from the Darmon program to give a complete resolution of the generalized Fermat equation $$x^7 + y^7 = 3 z^n$$ for all integers $n \ge 2$. Moreover, we explain how the use of higher dimensional Frey abelian varieties allows a more efficient proof of this result due to additional structures that they afford, compared to using only Frey elliptic curves. As a second application, we use some of these additional structures that Frey abelian varieties possess to show that a full resolution of the generalized Fermat equation $x^7 + y^7 = z^n$ depends only on the Cartan case of Darmon's big image conjecture. In the process, we solve the previous equation for solutions $(a,b,c)$ such that $a$ and $b$ satisfy certain $2$ or $7$-adic conditions and all $n \ge 2$.

Then takes every non-zero complex value infinitely often for , by making use of, among other things, particularly an important result of Yamanoi (Proc Lond Math Soc 106:703–780, 2013). This improves the results due to Mues (Arch Math 32:55–67, 1979), Bergweiler and Eremenko (Rev Mat Iber 22:355–373, 1995), etc. Moreover, the corresponding normality criterion is also obtained.

Abstract:Fermat's Little Theorem states that if p is a prime number and gcd (x,p) = 1, then xp−1 ≡ 1 (modp) If the requirement that gcd (x,p) = 1 is dropped, we can say xp ≡ x(modp)for any integer x. Euler generalized Fermat's Theorem in the following way: if gcd (x,n) = 1 then xφ(n) ≡ 1(modn), where φ is the Euler phi-function. It is clear that Euler's result cannot be extended to all integers x in the same way Fermat's Theorem can; that is, the congruence xφ(n)+1 ≡ x(modn)is not always valid. In this note we show exactly when the congruence xφ(n)+1 ≡ x(modn) is valid.

Abstract:In this article, we present streamlined proofs of results of Ankeny, Artin, and Chowla concerning the fundamental unit of the real quadratic field $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{p})$ for primes $p\equiv 1 \bmod{4}$ while providing a generalization of their conjecture. Using our generalization, we relate Fermat quotients of quadratic non-residues $\bmod{p}$ to sums of harmonic numbers.

Abstract:We consider a variety of Euler’s sum of powers conjecture, i.e., whether the Diophantine system $$\left\{{\matrix{{n = {a_1} + {a_2} + \ldots + {a_{s - 1}},} \hfill \cr {{a_1}{a_2} \ldots {a_{s - 1}}({a_1} + {a_2} + \ldots + {a_{s - 1}}) = {b^s}} \hfill \cr}} \right.$$ has positive integer or rational solutions n, b, aj, i = 1, 2, …, s − 1, s ⩾ 3. Using the theory of elliptic curves, we prove that it has no positive integer solution for s = 3, but there are infinitely many positive integers n such that it has a positive integer solution for s ⩾ 4. As a corollary, for s ⩾ 4 and any positive integer n, the above Diophantine system has a positive rational solution. Meanwhile, we give conditions such that it has infinitely many positive rational solutions for s ⩾ 4 and a fixed positive integer n.

Abstract:Considering $\mathbb{Z}_n$ the ring of integers modulo $n$, the classical Fermat-Euler theorem establishes the existence of a specific natural number $\varphi(n)$ satisfying the following property: $ x^{\varphi(n)}=1%\hspace{1.0cm}\text{for all}\hspace{0.2cm}x\in \mathbb{Z}_n^*, $ for all $x$ belonging to the group of units of $\mathbb{Z}_n$. In this manuscript, this result is extended to a class of rings that satisfies some mild conditions.

Abstract:It is shown that if It is shown that if \begin{equation}\label{abstract_eq} f(z+1)^n=R(z,f),\tag† \end{equation} where $R(z,f)$ is rational in $f$ with meromorphic coefficients and $°_f(R(z,f))=n$, has an admissible meromorphic solution, then either $f$ satisfies a difference linear or Riccati equation with meromorphic coefficients, or \eqref{abstract_eq} can be transformed into one in a list of ten equations with certain meromorphic or algebroid coefficients. In particular, if \eqref{abstract_eq}, where the assumption $°_f(R(z,f))=n$ has been discarded, has rational coefficients and a transcendental meromorphic solution $f$ of hyper-order $<1$, then either $f$ satisfies a difference linear or Riccati equation with rational coefficients, or \eqref{abstract_eq} can be transformed into one in a list of five equations which consists of four difference Fermat equations and one equation which is a special case of the symmetric QRT map. Solutions to all of these equations are presented in terms of Weierstrass or Jacobi elliptic functions, or in terms of meromorphic functions which are solutions to a difference Riccati equation. This provides a natural difference analogue of Steinmetz' generalization of Malmquist's theorem.
