Abstract:[Objective] To explore a SAS progrme,which is able to solve the problem of multivariate factorial variance analysis during medical study.[Methods] An example and corresponding statistics were analyzed and calculated using SAS program.[Results] Main effect and interaction of two factors in the example were significant statistically both in univariate analysis and multivariate analysis.[Conclusion] The problem existing multivariate factorial variance analysis can be solved effectively by using the procedure of GLM and MANOVA in SAS as a reference to process the analogous problems in medical study.

Abstract:This article extends Scheffé's modified (sequential) multiple-comparison procedure in one-way analysis-of-variance to other analysis situations, including interaction comparisons in factorial ANOVA designs, tests of partial regression coefficients in multiple-regression analysis, and comparisons of means in one-factor multivariate analyses of variance. Researchers who are concerned with maintaining familywise Type I error rates while increasing statistical power relative to the original (simultaneous) Scheffé-based procedures are encouraged to consider these improved multiple-comparison methods. Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To realize batch processing of univariate Cox regression analysis for great database by SAS marco program.METHODS:We wrote a SAS macro program, which can filter, integrate, and export P values to Excel by SAS9.2. The program was used for screening survival correlated RNA molecules of ovarian cancer.RESULTS:A SAS marco program could finish the batch processing of univariate Cox regression analysis, the selection and export of the results.CONCLUSION:The SAS macro program has potential applications in reducing the workload of statistical analysis and providing a basis for batch processing of univariate Cox regression analysis.

Abstract:The R software has become popular among researchers due to its flexibility and open-source nature. However, researchers in the fields of public health and epidemiological studies are more customary to commercial statistical softwares such as SAS, SPSS and Stata. This paper provides a comprehensive comparison on analysis of health survey data using the R survey package, SAS, SPSS and Stata. We describe detailed R codes and procedures for other software packages on commonly encountered statistical analyses, such as estimation of population means and regression analysis, using datasets from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA). It is hoped that the paper stimulates interest among health science researchers to carry data analysis using R and also serves as a cookbook for statistical analysis using different software packages.

Abstract:This paper presents a special capability of Sisvar to deal with fixed effect models with several restriction in the randomization procedure. These restrictions lead to models with fixed treatment effects, but with several random errors. One way do deal with models of this kind is to perform a mixed model analysis, considering only the error effects in the model as random effects and with different covariance structure for the error terms. Another way is to perform a analysis of variance with several error. These kind of analysis, when the data are balanced, can be done by using Sisvar. The software lead a exact $F$ test for the fixed effects and allow the user to applied multiple comparison procedures or regression analysis for the levels of the fixed effect factors, regarding they are single effects, interaction effects or hierarchical effects. Sisvar is an interesting statistical computer system for using in balanced agricultural and industrial data sets.

Abstract:Background: Statistical tables are an important component of data analysis and reports in biological sciences. However, the traditional manual processes for computation and presentation of statistically significant results using a letter-based algorithm are tedious and prone to errors. Results: Based on the R language, we present two web-based software for individual and summary data, freely available online, at http://shiny.stat.tamu.edu:3838/hassaad/Table_report1/ and http://shiny.stat.tamu.edu:3838/hassaad/SumAOV1/, respectively. The software are capable of rapidly generating publication-ready tables containing one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) results. No download is required. Additionally, the software can perform multiple comparisons of means using the Duncan, Student-Newman-Keuls, Tukey Kramer, and Fisher's least significant difference (LSD) tests. If the LSD test is selected, multiple methods (e.g., Bonferroni and Holm) are available for adjusting p-values. Using the software, the procedures of ANOVA can be completed within seconds using a web-browser, preferably Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, and a few mouse clicks. Furthermore, the software can handle one-way ANOVA for summary data (i.e. sample size, mean, and SD or SEM per treatment group) with post-hoc multiple comparisons among treatment means. To our awareness, none of the currently available commercial (e.g., SPSS and SAS) or open-source software (e.g., R and Python) can perform such a rapid task without advanced knowledge of the corresponding programming language. Conclusions: Our new and user-friendly software to perform statistical analysis and generate publication-ready MS-Word tables for one-way ANOVA are expected to facilitate research in agriculture, biomedicine, and other fields of life sciences.

Abstract:Previous work has demonstrated the feasibility and value of conducting distributed regression analysis (DRA), a privacy-protecting analytic method that performs multivariable-adjusted regression analysis with only summary-level information from participating sites. To our knowledge, there are no DRA applications in SAS, the statistical software used by several large national distributed data networks (DDNs), including the Sentinel System and PCORnet. SAS/IML is available to perform the required matrix computations for DRA in the SAS system. However, not all data partners in these large DDNs have access to SAS/IML, which is licensed separately. In this first article of a two-paper series, we describe a DRA application developed for use in Base SAS and SAS/STAT modules for linear and logistic DRA within horizontally partitioned DDNs and its successful tests.

Abstract:Big data clinical research typically involves thousands of patients and there are numerous variables available. Conventionally, these variables can be handled by multivariable regression modeling. In this article, the hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) is introduced. This method is used to explore similarity between observations and/or clusters. The result can be visualized using heat maps and dendrograms. Sometimes, it would be interesting to add scatter plot and smooth lines into the panels of the heat map. The inherent R heatmap package does not provide this function. A series of scatter plots can be created using lattice package, and then background color of each panel is mapped to the regression coefficient by using custom-made panel functions. This is the unique feature of the lattice package. Dendrograms and color keys can be added as the legend elements of the lattice system. The latticeExtra package provides some useful functions for the work.

Abstract:ObjectiveTo introduce methodology for undertaking a meta-analysis on ordinal data and its realization in SAS.MethodsIt was illustrated on an example data by using two-step method.In the first step,it was calculated treatment effect and its standard error for an individual study by using PROC GENMOD in SAS based on cumulative odds models;in the second step,a classical meta-analysis was proposed for fixed and random effect model by using PROC MIXED in SAS.ResultsResults from the traditional meta-analysis of summary odds ratio and its 95%CI were same 2.853 9(2.106 4,3.864 8) for fixed and random effect model.ConclusionsThe procedure SAS PROC GENMOD and MIXED were utilized to undertake a meta-analysis on ordinal data.

Abstract:Objective: To develop a statistics analysis software that can be used in STR population genetics for the purpose of promoting and fastening the basic research of STR population genetics. Methods: Selecting the Microsoft VBA for Excel, which is simple and easy to use, as the program language and using its macro function to develop a statistics analysis software used in STR population genetics. Results: The software "Easy STR Genetics" based on VBA language, by which the population genetic analysis of STR data can be made, were developed. Conclusion: The developed software "Easy STR Genetics" based on VBA language, can be spread in the domain of STR population genetics research domestically and internationally, due to its feature of full function, good compatibility for different formats of input data, distinct and easy to understand outputs for statistics and calculation results.

Abstract:Abstract The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) has notably proven to be an effective tool in a broad range of scientific applications. Despite the well-documented literature about its principal uses and statistical properties, the corresponding power analysis for the general linear hypothesis tests of treatment differences remains a less discussed issue. The frequently recommended procedure is a direct application of the ANOVA formula in combination with a reduced degrees of freedom and a correlation-adjusted variance. This article aims to explicate the conceptual problems and practical limitations of the common method. An exact approach is proposed for power and sample size calculations in ANCOVA with random assignment and multinormal covariates. Both theoretical examination and numerical simulation are presented to justify the advantages of the suggested technique over the current formula. The improved solution is illustrated with an example regarding the comparative effectiveness of interventions. In order to facilitate the application of the described power and sample size calculations, accompanying computer programs are also presented.

Abstract:Robust analyses of multifactor analysis of variance data may be secured even when assumptions are violated, by use of a set of five programs. ANOVR produces means, the summary table, group variances, the variance-covariance matrix on repeated measures, and tests most assumptions. FOLUP tests any set of pairwise contrasts of means, while COMCON tests any set of complex contrasts. Both latter programs permit solutions using heterogeneous group variances, or using a heterogeneous variance-covariance matrix from repeated measures, as well as conventional solutions using mean squares from the summary table. ANOVR produces the Box-Geisser-Greenhouse index when there is just one repeated measure factor, while PVCVRL will produce corresponding indices when there are two or more such factors. BARTKI produces output that generates the robust and flexible Bartlett and Kendall test for homogeneity of variances. Intelligent use of the set of programs frees the user from most assumptions of AOV.

Abstract:Comparison of population means is essential in quantitative research. For comparing means of three or more groups, analysis of variance (ANOVA) is the most frequently used statistical approach. Typically, ANOVA is used for continuous data, but discrete data are also common in practice. To compare means of binary or count data, the classical ANOVA and the corresponding power analysis are problematic, because the assumption of normality is violated. To address the issue, this study introduces an analogous ANOVA approach for binary or count data, as well as the corresponding methods for statistical power analysis. We first introduce an analogous ANOVA table and a likelihood ratio test statistic for comparing means with binary or count data. With the test statistic, we then define an effect size and propose a method to calculate statistical power. Finally, we develop and show software to conduct the proposed power analysis for both binary and count data.
Differences of Type I error rates for ANOVA and Multilevel-Linear-Models using SAS and SPSS for repeated measures designs

Abstract:To derive recommendations on how to analyze longitudinal data, we examined Type I error rates of Multilevel Linear Models (MLM) and repeated measures Analysis of Variance (rANOVA) using SAS and <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://SPSS.We" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> performed a simulation with the following specifications: To explore the effects of high numbers of measurement occasions and small sample sizes on Type I error, measurement occasions of m = 9 and 12 were investigated as well as sample sizes of n = 15, 20, 25 and 30. Effects of non-sphericity in the population on Type I error were also inspected: 5,000 random samples were drawn from two populations containing neither a within-subject nor a between-group effect. They were analyzed including the most common options to correct rANOVA and MLM-results: The Huynh-Feldt-correction for rANOVA (rANOVA-HF) and the Kenward-Roger-correction for MLM (MLM-KR), which could help to correct progressive bias of MLM with an unstructured covariance matrix (MLM-UN). Moreover, uncorrected rANOVA and MLM assuming a compound symmetry covariance structure (MLM-CS) were also taken into account. The results showed a progressive bias for MLM-UN for small samples which was stronger in SPSS than in SAS. Moreover, an appropriate bias correction for Type I error via rANOVA-HF and an insufficient correction by MLM-UN-KR for n < 30 were found. These findings suggest MLM-CS or rANOVA if sphericity holds and a correction of a violation via rANOVA-HF. If an analysis requires MLM, SPSS yields more accurate Type I error rates for MLM-CS and SAS yields more accurate Type I error rates for MLM-UN.

SOCR Analyses - an Instructional Java Web-based Statistical Analysis Toolkit

Abstract:The Statistical Online Computational Resource (SOCR) designs web-based tools for educational use in a variety of undergraduate courses (Dinov 2006). Several studies have demonstrated that these resources significantly improve students' motivation and learning experiences (Dinov et al. 2008). SOCR Analyses is a new component that concentrates on data modeling and analysis using parametric and non-parametric techniques supported with graphical model diagnostics. Currently implemented analyses include commonly used models in undergraduate statistics courses like linear models (Simple Linear Regression, Multiple Linear Regression, One-Way and Two-Way ANOVA). In addition, we implemented tests for sample comparisons, such as t-test in the parametric category; and Wilcoxon rank sum test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Friedman's test, in the non-parametric category. SOCR Analyses also include several hypothesis test models, such as Contingency tables, Friedman's test and Fisher's exact test.The code itself is open source (http://socr.googlecode.com/), hoping to contribute to the efforts of the statistical computing community. The code includes functionality for each specific analysis model and it has general utilities that can be applied in various statistical computing tasks. For example, concrete methods with API (Application Programming Interface) have been implemented in statistical summary, least square solutions of general linear models, rank calculations, etc. HTML interfaces, tutorials, source code, activities, and data are freely available via the web (www.SOCR.ucla.edu). Code examples for developers and demos for educators are provided on the SOCR Wiki website.In this article, the pedagogical utilization of the SOCR Analyses is discussed, as well as the underlying design framework. As the SOCR project is on-going and more functions and tools are being added to it, these resources are constantly improved. The reader is strongly encouraged to check the SOCR site for most updated information and newly added models.

Visualization of laboratory data from clinical trials

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the visual approach in the analysis of laboratory data from clinical trials.Methods: According to the real laboratory data in a clinical trials and the purpose of detecting safety signals with the requirement of drug safety evaluation in ICH,we used SAS version 9.2 and JMP/clinical3 to visualize the data.Our aim was to display the trends over time and to compare the information from two groups.Results: We illustrated here 6 specific graphical designs: boxplot over time,maximum boxplot,two-dimensional arrays of scatterplots,matrix arrays of scatterplot,dynamic bubble plot,and patient profile.Conclusion: Visualized evaluation of laboratory data can not only show summarized statistics derived from the original data but also display some original data of particular concern in laboratory data analysis.It should be primarily considered in the analysis of laboratory data arising from clinical trials.
