Abstract:AIM:To develop an efficient SAS macros to automatically output table of statistical analysis report for trough: peak ratio index. METHODS: Applying SAS functions such as int, floor and SAS procedure such as proc mean /ttest, wilcoxon.RESULTS:Some SAS Macros were made including data management and transform, creating variables and outputing statistical analysis report tables.CONCLUSION: The SAS Macros are useful to output statistical analysis report tables and improve the efficiency for clinical trial evaluation.

Abstract:[Objective] To understand the application of statistical methods in various types of medical journals and to know the changing tendency of statistical methods in order to guide correct use of statistical methods. [Methods] By stratified random sampling method,9 categories of the core medical journals including clinic,pharmacy,medicine,surgery,were investigated in the last five years. A total of 2385 documents were investigated. The items included the types of literature,statistical methods and statistical software applications and so on. [Results] In the statistical methods of all documents,the application of relative indexes accounted for 22.7%,mean ± standard deviation for 27.9%,statistical chart\table for 31.5%,t test for 25.9%,ANOVA for 10%,chi-square test for 21%,Fisher test for 1.1%,rank sum test for 2.1%,Ridit analysis for 1.1%,two variable linear correlation and regression for 10.1%,and multivariate analysis for 1.0%. [Conclusion] In the core medical journals,t test is most commonly used,followed by Chi-square test and analysis of variance,and the most common statistical methods in different medical journals are not same.

Abstract:Minimize your time spent on common biostatistical analyses by maximizing your use of these macros. Put them to work calculating statistics and producing high quality report tables summarizing your results in Word documents. These macros are useful for conducting a complete analysis, from start to finish. Use them to 1) produce descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages for categorical variables; and n, mean, median, standard deviation, min, and max for quantitative variables; 2) produce parametric and non-parametric bivariate statistics with either quantitative or categorical variables, including Chi-Square test, Fisher’s exact test, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Spearman rank correlation coefficient dependent on variable types; 3) look at the unadjusted associations of each variable with a binary or survival outcome, reporting odds ratios or hazard ratios, respectively; 4) conduct multiple regression using logistic regression or Cox proportional hazards models incorporating all variables or using a backward variable selection method. The capabilities of these macros and how to use them will be illustrated using data from a kidney stone questionnaire designed to examine the factors that influence patient preference for ureteroscopy vs. shock wave lithotripsy. The macros used for this study enabled production of comprehensive, professional looking reports, efficient communication and collaboration with investigators, and ensured that timely and high-quality service was delivered.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To realize batch processing of univariate Cox regression analysis for great database by SAS marco program.METHODS:We wrote a SAS macro program, which can filter, integrate, and export P values to Excel by SAS9.2. The program was used for screening survival correlated RNA molecules of ovarian cancer.RESULTS:A SAS marco program could finish the batch processing of univariate Cox regression analysis, the selection and export of the results.CONCLUSION:The SAS macro program has potential applications in reducing the workload of statistical analysis and providing a basis for batch processing of univariate Cox regression analysis.

Abstract:Objective To assess the application,problems,and trend of statistical methods in two kinds of Chinese journals of clinical medicine published from 2005 to 2006.Methods A uniform questionnaire was adopted in the study and data was analyzed with SPSS13.0 software.Results 643 original articles were included.Statistical methods were used in 86.5% of the articles with an accurate rate of 82.7%;the t-test and contingency table analysis were most commonly used.Common mistakes were inappropriate use of t-test,non-interval estimation in linear correlation analysis,no formula in multiple regression analysis,ambiguity of statistical analysis methods,no exact P values and so on.Conclusion The utilization and accuracy of statistical analysis have been significantly improved,the methods are more diversified,but inappropriate use and lack of statistical methods still exist.

Abstract:Statistics plays an important role in medical research， and the selection of appropriate statistical methods is crucial for drawing reliable and valuable conclusions. This paper provides a brief introduction to commonly used statistical analysis methods for medical data， covering descriptive analysis， parametric test， nonparametric test， correlation analysis， regression analysis， and analysis of survival data. It focuses on discussing the assumptions of multiple linear regression， logistic regression and Cox proportional risk regression， as well as how to choose the appropriate statistical methods for analyzing and interpreting medical data based on different research objectives and data types.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the quantity and quality of graphs and tables in medical literature.Methods We conducted a retrospective survey of 750 randomly selected original research articles,from 2011-2015 issues of 5 academic medical journals by using a stratified random sampling method.Paper characteristics,application status,quantity and quality of graphs and tables were analyzed.Results More than 48％ of original research articles contained at least 1 table or graph.The highest frequency of using table and graph was in clinical research.The number of tables and the number of articles with tables were both significantly decreased during 2011-2015 (P=0.034).The most common errors in tables were the inconsistent decimal number and the presentation of numeric data without right alignment.Only 12％ of the articles contained at least 1 graph.Ofthe 175 graphs,bar chart with intervals predominated.Compared with other domains,the completeness of graphs was excellence.Conclusions The result expression in medical research is still dominated by tables.And the quality of graphs is much better than tables.

Abstract:Application experience in humans, a summary of the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), serves as an important data source for evaluating the safety, effectiveness, and clinical value of drugs in the development of new Chinese medicine. The collected data serving as the evaluation evidence through statistical analysis are critical to the research on the application experience in humans. This article summarized and analyzed the data characteristics and statistical methodology of application experience of Chinese medicine in humans, and concluded the data types, outcome evaluation, bias evaluation, confounding factors, and missing values. Furthermore, the article emphasized the importance of data analysis of application experience of Chinese medicine in humans for TCM evidence and put forward the current difficulties, such as low data quality and large internal bias, lack of individualized data processing methods, and lack of methods for "disease-syndrome combination" data. We believe that with the development of methodology, the application experience of Chinese medicine in humans can strongly support the development of new drugs in TCM.

Abstract:Objective: To solve the problems of data analysis in pharmaceutical experiment by commonly used Microsoft Excel.Methods: The application of statistical function in Excel function using linear regression as example to illustrate the detailed procedure of the import of source data and the return of results.The application of descriptive statistics,t test and analysis of variance in the data analysis tool of Microsoft Excel,combination with examples to discuss its use for data analysis in pharmaceutical practice.Results: The application of statistical function within Excel in the analysis of linear regression,the method is simple and the result is reliable.The tool of data analysis in Excel is suitable for descriptive statistics,t test and analysis of variance in the normal pharmaceutical data analysis.By comparison with other data analysis software,the application of Microsoft Excel possessed the merits of fast in operation,convenient in use,accurate in calculation and easy to master.Conclusion: The merit of friendly user interface in Excel and the limpid results of statistical analysis made medicine workers feel convenient during the application of Excel data analysis soft,and it deserves to be spread in the pharmaceutical practice.

Abstract:ABSTRACT Introduction/BackgroundR, an open source analytical software has gained wide popularity for its powerful statistical and graphical techniques, little known is that it also proves to be a fantastic tool for generating automated, content specific documentation using a combination of extensible packages (i.e. R markdown, Pandoc, MiKTex, Knitr). One such example of using these techniques is to create content specific PDF reports for the 300 plus general practices in Wales who are contributing data to the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank. Objectives1). Create large number of automated PDF reports 2). Content specific to individual practice ApproachThis project aimed to facilitate the production of a large number of similar reports (tailored to specific recipients) by reducing the repetition and manual effort required. This was done by using a combination of packages in R to create scripts to automate the production of large numbers of tailored reports that capture the characteristics of each individual practice. ResultsThe output of this piece of work was a set of tailored reports for more than 300 Walsh general practices contributing data to the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank up to 2015. The production of these reports was automated using a combination of R packages; the source code is flexible and can be applied to a range of contexts. ConclusionMethods described in this talk is highly efficient and easy to adapt to different context (e.g. automate documentation for metadata)

Abstract:Objective Sampling by the computer decrease the sampling bias by people at the third nation wide schistosomiasis epidemic sampling survey. Methods Sample been sampled by the SAS's SURVEYSELECT procedure on the computer. Results Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Yunnan and Sichuan have been separately sampled by the computer 13, 23, 18, 47, 58, 12 and 68 sample sites. Conclusion The SAS's SURVEYSELECT procedure combine the computer with the modern statistics, it enrich largely field epidemiology, it provide the simple and quick sampling method for the field survey of epidemiology.

Abstract:Objective To perform the program on meta-analysis of u-value, t-value, F-value, χ~2-value and Pvalue in Microsoft Excel. Method The Excel computational procedure was edited using IF statement and other relevant functions, such as SUM, NORMSINV, TDIST, FDIST and CHIDIST, etc. With real medical study data, valuate the results computed by the Excel program. Result The consolidated outcomes were generated and presented correctly with inputting quantitative-datas of different documents into the Excel calculating program, which agree with the results from the textbook. Conclusion Meta-analysis of u-value, t-value, F-value, χ~2-value and P-value can be accomplished in Excel conveniently, rapidly and accurately.

Abstract:Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) intervention should be concisely and precisely reported in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Based on State Food and Drug Administration's categories, we recommend reporting the interventions as follows: (1) Single Chinese herbal medicine-based/formula-based/extraction-based intervention includes 1) Name, dosage format and registration; 2) The composition and quality of intervention; 3) Pharmaceutical processing and quality control; 4) Stability of final product and quality control; 5) Function and safety description; 6) Dosage and treatment course; 7) Control group. (2) Active compound-based TCM drug intervention includes 1) Name of active compound(s); 2) Original source of active compound(s); 3) The brief process obtaining active compound(s); 4) Percentage of active compound(s) in final product; 5) Added materials and its quality and quantity control. Besides, the detailed information of intervention can be published as an online supplement in web site.
