Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To develop dataset for basic medical information system.METHODS:All items of basic medical information system dataset were drafted by literature review, brain storm and group discussion. A Delphi study was conducted to evaluate and adjust the candidate items; then items were finalized based on comprehensive scores.RESULTS:The final dataset developed through two-round Delphi study contained 20 first-level items, 102 second-level items, 40 third-level items and 88 fourth-level items. The response rates were 71.79% and 92.86% in round 1 and 2, respectively. The authority coefficient was both 0.77 and the coordination coefficient of the specialists' opinion was 0.239 and 0.516, respectively.CONCLUSION:The dataset for basic medical information system determined from Delphi study is credible and can be used for development of related software.

Abstract:BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Standardization of electronic medical record, so as to enable resource-sharing and information exchange among medical institutions has become inevitable in view of the ever increasing medical information. The current research is an effort towards the standardization of basic dataset of electronic medical records in traditional Chinese medicine.METHODS: In this work, an outpatient clinical information model and an inpatient clinical information model are created to adequately depict the diagnosis processes and treatment procedures of traditional Chinese medicine. To be backward compatible with the existing dataset standard created for western medicine, the new standard shall be a superset of the existing standard. Thus, the two models are checked against the existing standard in conjunction with 170,000 medical record cases. If a case cannot be covered by the existing standard due to the particularity of Chinese medicine, then either an existing data element is expanded with some Chinese medicine contents or a new data element is created. Some dataset subsets are also created to group and record Chinese medicine special diagnoses and treatments such as acupuncture.RESULTS: The outcome of this research is a proposal of standardized traditional Chinese medicine medical records datasets. The proposal has been verified successfully in three medical institutions with hundreds of thousands of medical records.CONCLUSIONS: A new dataset standard for traditional Chinese medicine is proposed in this paper. The proposed standard, covering traditional Chinese medicine as well as western medicine, is expected to be soon approved by the authority. A widespread adoption of this proposal will enable traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and institutions to easily exchange information and share resources.

Abstract:Objective To analyze the type of non-standard diagnosis writing of outpatient diseases,and to explore the effective measures for physicians’ writing standards.Methods A retrospective study was conducted on the outpatient disease diagnosis writing in Peking University Third Hospital from September 2007 to March 2014.Results There were 4804 non-standard outpatient diagnosis writing.The types of non-standard diagnosis could be divided into abbreviated disease name (137 items),disease name written by English (99 items),non-standardized medical terms (2021 items),reversed the order of diagnostic name (24 items),undefined or too detailed diagnosis (1143 items),and written by non-classified anatomical site in ICD-10 (1380 items).Conclusion In view of the irregular type of diagnosis writing of outpatient diseases,the clinicians should be trained to standardize the clinical thinking habits,improve the classification of diseases and promote the support of health information development.

Abstract:The significance of clinical information standard for measuring physicians' workload was analyzed.Putting the emphysis on the situation of clinical information standard in China,to discuss respectively the problems of the Chi-nese Medical Termenology Standard,the current used ICD system and Price Scale of Medial Items when they were uti-lized as the information basis for measuring physicans' workload.It indicated that only by establishing the clinical infor-mation standard can the measurement physicians' workload be carried out widely and reliability of the result be en-sured.

Abstract:The standardization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), occupying a critical position in the development of TCM, is a basic, strategic, and overall work. In this study, we initially referred to data from the National Public Service Platform for Standards Information, the National Group Platform for Standards Information, and the collection of materials from the National Library of Standards, and then performed a comprehensive analysis of 1426 pieces of TCM standards related information among them. Based on the analytic results, the number of releases, the regional distribution of drafting institutions, and the standard contribution index of 3 major categories (basic general, technology, and management) of TCM and their 16 subcategories were systematically exhibited. According to the ranking of the drafting unit in the standard, the corresponding standard development contribution index is given, and with the standard development contribution index as the main line, the current situation and existing problems of standardization development in Beijing are analyzed. Suggestions were put forward to improve the framework of the Chinese medicine standard system, optimize the industrial structure of Chinese medicine, promote the interactive development of Chinese medicine science and technology innovation and standardization, and promote the implementation and application of Chinese medicine standards.

Abstract:The standardization for Chinese medicines(CM) is a great topic on modernization and globalization as well as sustainable development of TCM.However,medical and pharmaceutical researchers usually focus on the upper and middle stages in their own fields,and pay less attention to the Clinics-oriented research for the TCM standardization,including dosage,usage,efficacy and medicinal property of CM,let alone the Clinics-oriented research.This paper highlights the Clinics-oriented research for the TCM standardization and proposes to establish a Clinicsoriented CM standards system consisting of the medicinal property standard,quality standard,dosage standard and good usage practice(GUP).This system may directly serve the rational and scientific application of TCM in clinics.The Clinics-oriented research for the CM standardization is considered a key aspect and strategic direction of TCM modernization.

Abstract:Abstract Background At present, the quality of articles in the field of medical popularization in China cannot be guaranteed, so it is necessary for experts engaged in scientific popularization to estabish a consensus on scientfic evaluation criteria to improve it.Objective This article aims to improve this by reaching a consensus about the scientificalness of medical articles for public through Delphi method among experts.Method The article type is research article.On the basis of AGREE II method, a set of criteria for evaluating the scientificalness of popular science articles was established, and then three rounds of Delphi expert consultation were conducted in order to achieve the final consensus.Results A total of 31 people took part in all three rounds of research, while 4 people lost their visits. Most metric reaches consensus (agreement>80%) in the final round while there remains argument concerning the “Total number of evidence selected”, “Whether a case is regarded as general situation”, “If new research evidence exists”, “The qualification of the platform for the publication of popular science articles” and “Conflict of interest”.Conclusion This study established a unified scientific evaluation standard for medical popular science articles. The study is of great significance to the establishment of operable scientific evaluation standard of popular science articles. Future research should focus on the diversity in specific aspect.
Investigation of the outpatient and emergency diagnostic information standardization of a tertiary hospital

Abstract:Objective To investigate the status and present problems of standardization of outpatient and emergency diagnosis information of a hospital, and discuss the room of improvement. Methods The outpatient and emergency diagnosis information of a tertiary hospital was retrieved, and the data were inspected using tracking method over the whole process from diagnostic information input to data maintenance, for analysis of causes of the nonstandard diagnosis. Results The standard rate of the outpatient and emergency diagnosis of the hospital was 51. 07％ (15278/29915). Statistics by the departments visited found the traditional Chinese medicine department with the most nonstandard diagnosis;that by diagnosis names found the most nonstandard diagnosis in such common diseases as hypertension and diabetes. These nonstandard diagnosis may be contributed mainly to the system, the standard dictionary, the doctor and the imperfect maintenance mechanism. Conclusions It is suggested to improve the system maintenance mechanism, streamline the maintenance process, and train the doctors in dictionary use and input, to improve the outpatient and emergency diagnostic information standardization.
Reporting Quality of English Abstracts of Randomized Controlled Trials Published in Major Chinese Medical Journals

Abstract:s of randomized controlled trials(RCT)published in four major journals in China during 2005—2008.A total of 108 RCT abstracts were identified in PubMed.The best reported items were objectives and conclusions,followed by recruitment,numbers randomized,and interventions.Most poorly reported were the trial quality:blinding,allocation method and numbers analyzed were reported in only 0,1.9% and 6.5% respectively.The reporting of RCT abstracts published in major Chinese journals is poor.Medical journals should consult the CONSORT for abstracts,and establish practical model for RCT abstract reporting so as to improve the completeness and transparency.

Abstract:Objective The standard of Classification and Determination of Constitution in TCM has been published in April,2009 and applied in national test units for 4 years.The paper investigated the revise necessity of the standard and provided suggestions and thinking train for revise direction through surveying the application of the standard.The purpose is to further improve the sensitivity and contribution of the standard.Methods Taken the constitution scale in the standard as specific object,the questionnaire of application suggestion to the scale was issued to 130 national centers of preventive treatment of diseases and the feedback was collected,the reviews on the structure and content of the scale were collected from experts of related disciplines,and questionnaire was issued to common people for collecting the opinions in the application of the scale.All data was analyzed by using statistical method.Results After analyzing 30 pieces of questionnaire collected from national centers of preventive treatment of diseases,the results showed that the total structure of the scale was accepted by common people,but impalpable words were major questions in the scale.The on-site consultation in related experts showed that the content validity and construct validity reached the level required by the scale,and the numbers of items could be reduced,some describing modes could be changed and calculation method of constitutional types could be simplified.The survey in common people showed that the difference in age and educational degree had influences on filling questionnaire,and calculating and understanding of judging results.The outcomes had significance after statistical analysis(P0.05).Conclusion After spreading and application in national range for several years,the standard of Classification and Determination of Constitution in TCM has been well received by community hospitals,centers of preventive treatment of diseases and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.However,hospitals,common people and experts in related disciplines have given revise suggestions and feedbacks.It is feasible and necessary to revise and adjust the standard partly.

Abstract:Academic paper is a written summary of scientific research innovation achievements and scientific research progress in various disciplines,mainly disseminate through relevant scientific journals.To facilitate the retrieval and communication of the academic papers,the country has been established the standards for the preparation of scientific and technical reports and academic papers(GB 7713-87),this standard has standardized guidance in w riting methods,formatting and publishing.Although different academic journals have different content and format requirements for their papers,and each author's writing style is different,it should be consistent with national standards.This paper elaborates the format of Chinese Journal of Women and Child Health Research magazine academic papers from the perspective of technical expression,provide the authors and editors with standardized essay w riting and layout format references,in order to improve the efficiency of journal publication draft and print quality.

Abstract:Chinese medicine prescriptions are a type of medical documents written by doctors after they understand the patients' conditions for syndrome differentiation. Chinese medicine prescriptions are also the basis for pharmacy personnel to dispense medicines and guide patients to use drugs. It has the legal, technical and economic significances. Chinese medicine prescriptions contain such information of names, quantity and usage. Whether the names of drugs in Chinese medicine prescriptions are standardized or not is directly related to the safety and efficacy of the drugs. At present, nonstandard clinical prescriptions are frequently seen. With "Chinese medicine prescription", "names of drug in Chinese medicine prescription" and "standards of Chinese medicine prescription" as key words, the author searched CNKI, Wanfang and other databases, and consulted nearly 100 literatures, so as to summarize current names of drugs in traditional Chinese medicine prescription, analyze the reasons, and give suggestions, in the expectation of standardizing the names of drugs used in traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the writing quality of Chinese traditional medicine prescriptions and the medication status in our hospital to promote standard prescription writing and rational administration.METHODS:A total of 11 018 Chinese traditional medicine prescriptions were randomly sampled from outpatient dispensary of traditional Chinese medicine in our hospital in 2006 to find out the non-standard and irrational prescriptions with age and sex,clinical diagnosis,dosage form,specification,usage,and the consumption sum of drugs as main indexes.RESULTS:Of the total Chinese traditional medicine prescriptions,27.85%(3 068)were non-standard in writing,of which,0.47% were without items of age and sex,5.59% without clinical diagnosis,2.72% without dosage form,1.39% without usage,23.64% were unclear in specification and dosage;the prescriptions in which only one drug was prescribed accounted for 90.86%;30.51% were prescriptions for special group;and 5.92% had a prescription consumption sum of no less than 200 yuan(≥200 yuan).CONCLUSION:The quality of Chinese traditional medicine prescriptions in our hospital remains to be further improved.
A Cross-Sectional Study of the Endorsement Proportion of Reporting Guidelines in 1039 Chinese Medical Journals

Abstract:Background Reporting quality is a critical issue in health sciences. Adopting the reporting guidelines has been approved to be an effective way of enhancing the reporting quality and transparency of clinical research. In 2012, we found that only 7 (7/1221, 0.6%) journals adopted the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) statement in China. The aim of the study was to know the implementation status of CONSORT and other reporting guidelines about clinical studies in China. Methods A cross-sectional bibliometric study was conducted. Eight medical databases were systematically searched, and 1039 medical journals published in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan were included. The basic characteristics, including subject, language, publication place, journal-indexed databases, and journal impact factors were extracted. The endorsement of reporting guidelines was assessed by a modified 5-level evaluation tool, namely i) positive active, ii) positive weak, iii) passive moderate, iv) passive weak and v) none. Results Among included journals, 24.1% endorsed CONSORT, and 0.8% endorsed CONSORT extensions. For STROBE (STrengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology), PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses), STARD (An Updated List of Essential Items for Reporting Diagnostic Accuracy Studies), CARE (CAse REport guidelines), the endorsement proportion were 17.2, 16.6, 16.4, and 14.8% respectively. The endorsement proportion for SPIRIT (Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials), TRIPOD (Transparent Reporting of a Multivariable Prediction Model for Individual Prognosis or Diagnosis), AGREE (Appraisal of Guidelines, Research, and Evaluation), and RIGHT (Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare) were below 0.7%. Conclusions Our results showed that the implementation of reporting guidelines was low. We suggest the following initiatives including i) enhancing the level of journal endorsement for reporting guidelines; ii) strengthening the collaboration among authors, reviewers, editors, and other stakeholders; iii) providing training courses for stakeholders; iv) establishing bases for reporting guidelines network in China; v) adopting the endorsement of reporting guidelines in the policies of the China Periodicals Association (CPA); vi) promoting Chinese medical journals into the international evaluation system and publish in English.
