Abstract:To creat characteristic columns in academic periodical of local colleges is an important way to keep the style and personality of the periodical and to improve the core competitiveness of it. In order to create a brand of the characteristic columns in academic periodical of local colleges, the following rules should be complied with:to identify the right characteristics;to construct the columns uniquely, to maintain the stability of columns;to as-sign learned editors and to propagate the characteristic columns properly.

Abstract:By explaining the background,objective and process of establishing the column of Guideline Forum in Chinese Journal of Practical Internal Medicine,some experiences are introduced.The authors hold that a successful journal must accord with the tenet of publication,and advance with the times,gather information and create characteristic columns.The editors should strengthen the readership consciousness and innovation consciousness.

Abstract:When we introduce the theory of key periodicals into academic journals of humane social sciences, we should combine quantitative analysis that is based on data with qualitative analysis that depends on the opinion of experts. Columns with distinguishing features of some ordinary academic journals have broken the deadlock of many journals being essentially the same with their distinctive cultural characteristics, leading to the emergence of their being this one.

Abstract:[Purposes] This paper aims to explore the strategies to achieve the effective peer review.[Methods] Based on advanced experience and measures taken by foreign journals,the problems existing in peer review of academics journals published in China were analyzed and improvement measures from the top level design were put forward.[Findings] Concrete measures include policy support and protection,comprehensive evaluation experts teams,optimized review patterns and sound evaluation and feedback systems.[Conclusions] Four kinds of measures mentioned above contribute to implementing the effective role of peer review in academic supervision and checks.

Abstract:Service consciousness is one of the most important qualities that sci-tech periodical editors should have.However,publication frequency is so long in China that large quantity of authors submit their manuscripts to foreign periodicals.To solve the problem,Chinese Journal of Practical Internal Medicine took steps to shorten publication frequency and achieved good results in recent years.This paper takes Chinese Journal of Practical Internal Medicine as an example,elaborating the importance of shortening publication frequency,the reason of the prolonged publication frequency and the way to shorten it.The paper points out that only with the sense of responsibility and serving consciousness can editors treat manuscripts and authors in highly responsible and painstaking attitude and win more authors and manuscripts.

Abstract:Periodicals appeared in China as a product of the influence of the Western scholarship. The first Chinese magazine Cha Shi Su Mei Yue Tong Ji Zhuan (Mundane Life Monthly) was inaugurated by British clergymen in Malay in 1815 and the first literary periodicals in China are Xin Xiao Shuo (New Fiction), Xiu Xiang Xiao Shuo (Illustrated Novels), Yue Yue Xiao Shuo (Novels Monthly), and Xiao Shuo, Lin (Forest of Novels), all appearing in the late Qing Dynasty. Periodicals serve as an important platform for publication and exchange and thus have a vital impact on the diffusion and influence of academic fruits. As regards China's literary study, scholarly journals have been playing an active role in the research and academic exchange ever since the New Literature Movement, featured essentially by the importation of foreign literature. Nowadays, the development of Chinese scholarly journals still lags behind compared with the outside world. Efforts must be made in the professionalization, optimalization and internationalization of the scholarly journals.

Abstract:It is difficult to separate the college journal history and tradition from the journal present and future,so understanding the college journal tradition with more than a century of history is the premise for current policy reform.Taking 1950 as the time limit,college journal history can be divided into two stages.The main characteristics of early college journals are open to pursuit of truth,disseminate academic,lead academic with broad participation from university scholars.The main force of college journals are famous experts.Teachers and students worked together to run college journals.In the 1950s,the college journals changed.Chinese Academy of Sciences and universities succeeded the academic journal tradition at two different dimensions.The former was the founder of a series of one-disciplinary professional journals with the formation of the system;while the latter was more rigidly adhered to the traditional external form: proceeded by the college name,comprehensive multidisciplinary integration without correlation among college journals.Now the management people of college journals have no idea what really the traditional journal is,just wrongly taking the rigid system of college journals since 1950 as the university journal tradition.There are two reasons for college journals getting into troubles.One is one-sided understanding about the tradition;the other is from the system distress.The split tradition supports the rigid system while the rigid system will strengthen the traditional fracture.Implementation Measures on the Reform of Newspapers and Journals regulates college journals must change into enterprises,which is the lack of rigorous scientific proof,wrongly taking the means instead of the target,putting the administrative responsibility to college journals.Instead of changing into enterprises for college journals,it is more meaningful to separate the digital from the paper,to treat separately the publishing from the distribution and editing,which is called dichotomy.

Abstract:The authors investigated the periodical web pages provided by the China Journal Net and the Wanfang Digital Periodical,and clicked the web sites from a search on sina.com using "journal" as the to make an analysis.The result shows that China's periodical web pages lack individuality and interaction with the authors and readers.The main reason is that the editors fail to care the periodical brand effect.Cooperative and synthetic webs are the trend of characterized periodical webs that combine specialized periodicals with industrial information,and combine university journals with science research information.
