Abstract:BACKGROUND:The possibility of lymph node metastasis (LNM) is critical to the assessment of the indication for endoscopic submucosal dissection. Thus, the aim of this study is to identify the risk factors for LNM and construct a risk-scoring model for patients with early gastric cancer to guide treatment.METHODS:A retrospective examination of reports and studies carried out January 2000 and December 2014 was conducted. A risk-scoring model for predicting LNM was developed based on the data thus collected. In addition, the model is subject to verification and validation by three institutions.RESULTS:Of the 1029 patients, 228 patients (22%) had LNM. Multivariate analysis showed that female, depressed type, undifferentiated type, submucosa, tumor size, and lymphovascular invasion were significantly associated with LNM. An 11-point risk-scoring model was used to predict LNM risk. An area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) of the risk-scoring model was plotted using the development set and the AUROC of the model [0.76 (95% CI 0.73-0.80)] to predict LNM risk. After internal and external validation, the AUROC curve for predicting LNM was 0.77 (95% CI 0.68-0.86), 0.82 (95% CI 0.72-0.91), and 0.82 (95% CI 0.70-0.94), respectively.CONCLUSIONS:A risk-scoring model for predicting LNM was developed and validated. It could help with personalized care for patients with EGC.

Abstract:Objective Bleeding after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastric cancer (EGC) is a frequent adverse event after ESD. We aimed to develop and externally validate a clinically useful prediction model (BEST-J score: Bleeding after ESD Trend from Japan) for bleeding after ESD for EGC. Design This retrospective study enrolled patients who underwent ESD for EGC. Patients in the derivation cohort (n=8291) were recruited from 25 institutions, and patients in the external validation cohort (n=2029) were recruited from eight institutions in other areas. In the derivation cohort, weighted points were assigned to predictors of bleeding determined in the multivariate logistic regression analysis and a prediction model was established. External validation of the model was conducted to analyse discrimination and calibration. Results A prediction model comprised 10 variables (warfarin, direct oral anticoagulant, chronic kidney disease with haemodialysis, P2Y12 receptor antagonist, aspirin, cilostazol, tumour size >30 mm, lower-third in tumour location, presence of multiple tumours and interruption of each kind of antithrombotic agents). The rates of bleeding after ESD at low-risk (0 to 1 points), intermediate-risk (2 points), high-risk (3 to 4 points) and very high-risk (≥5 points) were 2.8%, 6.1%, 11.4% and 29.7%, respectively. In the external validation cohort, the model showed moderately good discrimination, with a c -statistic of 0.70 (95% CI, 0.64 to 0.76), and good calibration (calibration-in-the-large, 0.05; calibration slope, 1.01). Conclusions In this nationwide multicentre study, we derived and externally validated a prediction model for bleeding after ESD. This model may be a good clinical decision-making support tool for ESD in patients with EGC.

Abstract:Introduction: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has been popular worldwide to treat laterally spreading tumors and large polyps. Post-ESD coagulation syndrome (PECS) is more common than the two major ESD-related complications, perforation and bleeding. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of PECS, identify the risk factors for PECS, and create a risk prediction model for PECS. Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional study analyzed a total of 986 patients who underwent colorectal ESD. Logistic regression models were used to assess risk factors with PECS. Each risk factor was scored and the 3-step risk stratification index of prediction model was assessed. Results: The prevalence of PECS was 21.4% (95% confidence interval [CI]=18.9%–24.1%). The risk factors of PECS in the multivariate logistic regression were tumor size (+1 cm: odds ratio [OR], 1.29; 95% CI, 1.16 to 7.09), cecal lesion (OR, 1.96; 95% CI, 1.09 to 1.53), procedure time (+30 minutes: OR, 1.19; 95% CI, 1.02 to 1.39), and ESD with snaring (OR, 0.64; 95% CI, 0.43 to 0.95). Applying a simplified weighted scoring system based on adjusted OR increments of 1, the risk of PECS was 12.3% (95% CI, 0.3%-16.0%) for the low-risk group (score ≤ 4) and was 36.0% (95% CI=29.4%–43.2%) for the high-risk group (score ≥ 8). Overall discrimination (C-statistic=0.629; 95% CI=0.585–0.672) and calibration (p = 0.993) of the model were moderate to good. Conclusion: PECS occurs frequently and the prediction model can be helpful for effective treatment and prevention of PECS.

Abstract:ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of a simple method named aspiration and coagulation (AC) for reducing the risk of postoperative bleeding after gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD).MethodsData were retrospectively reviewed and collected from the medical records and endoscopic and pathologic reports about consecutive patients who underwent ESD for early gastric cancer or precancerous lesions or gastric submucosal lesions from January 2016 to December 2021 at the Seventh Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital. Enrolled patients who underwent the AC method during ESD were included in the AC group, and the others were included in the control group. Propensity score (PS) matching (1:1 match) was used to compensate for the differences that might affect post-ESD bleeding. Massive hemorrhage and overall delayed bleeding events after gastric ESD were compared between the two groups.ResultsPropensity score matching analysis created 242 matched pairs in the study. Characteristics of the subjects such as age and use of antithrombotic drugs were all similar between the two groups after PS matching. The rate of massive hemorrhage and overall delayed bleeding was both significantly lower in the AC group than in the control (0.4% vs. 3.3% for massive hemorrhage, P = 0.037, and 1.2% vs. 5.0% for overall delayed bleeding, P = 0.032), predominantly in mucosal lesions (0.6% vs. 4.4% for massive hemorrhage, P = 0.032, and 1.2% vs. 5.6% for overall delayed bleeding, P = 0.031).ConclusionsOur study demonstrated that the AC method effectively decreased delayed bleeding events after ESD.

Abstract:Background: A new scoring system, the BEST-J score, using ten risk factors to assign cases to different post-endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) risk groups for bleeding, has been shown to be accurate for risk stratification. We first aimed to validate the BEST-J score at four hospitals not specialized in performing ESD and then aimed to identify other risk factors for post-ESD bleeding. Methods: We evaluated the incidence of post-ESD bleeding in 791 cases of early gastric cancer (EGC) between October 2013 and December 2020 as a retrospective, multi-center observational study conducted at four hospitals. Multivariate logistic regression models to examine the effect of independent variables on post-ESD bleeding firstly included ten possible factors raised by the BEST-J score and secondly included statistically significant (p < 0.01) in univariate analysis. The prediction accuracy of the model was evaluated by receiver-operating characteristic analysis and the areas under the curve (AUC). Results: The incidence of post-ESD bleeding was 4.8% (38/791, 95% confidence interval [CI] 3.4-6.5%). On multivariate analysis, the risk factors were P2Y12 receptor antagonist (odds ratio [OR]: 5.870, 95% CI 1.624-21.219), warfarin (8.382, 1.658-42.322), direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) (8.980, 1.603-50.322), and tumor location in lower third of stomach (2.151, 1.012-4.571), respectively. When we categorized cases into low-risk by BEST-J score, intermediate-risk, high-risk, and very high-risk groups, the bleeding rates were 2.8%, 7.3%, 12.8%, and 19.0%, respectively. The AUC for our cohort was 0.713 (95% CI 0.625-0.802) for the BEST-J score. In the multivariate analysis in our cohort, the risks were age, body mass index, P2Y12 receptor antagonist, warfarin, DOAC, respectively. Discussion: The BEST-J score is equally accurate in risk stratification of patients with EGC for post-ESD bleeding at non-specialized facilities for ESD as in specialized hospitals. BMI and age may be helpful additional risk factors at hospitals not specialized.
Evaluation of intraoperative bleeding grading and related factors of ESD treatment for early gastric cancer

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the intraoperative bleeding grading, significance and probe the risk factors of ESD treatment for early gastric cancer.Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on data of early gastric cancer cases that underwent ESD at the Digestive Endoscopy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University from January 2012 to December 2018. The intraoperative hemorrhage classification (J0-3) was used to evaluate the bleeding characteristics during ESD operation. The differences in ESD completion between J0-2 and J3 groups were compared and Logistic regression models were used to analyze the risk factors of J3.Results:A total of 231 patients were included and J0-2 cases accounted for 83.1%. Three patients in the J3 group did not complete the ESD operation and the J0-2 group had no uncompleted cases. Compared with the J0-2 group, J3 group had lower complete resection rate (52.8% vs 86.5%, P<0.01), but higher additional surgery rate (25% vs 10.9%, P=0.03). Univariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the gastric horn, body, and cardia-fundus lesions, infiltrated into the mucosal muscle layer and below, moderate-low differentiated carcinoma was a risk factor for J3. Multivariate Logistic regression showed that gastric horn, body and cardia-fundus lesions were independent predictors of J3.Conclusion:The intraoperative hemorrhage grade of ESD treatment for early gastric cancer is usually J0-2 grade. When the intraoperative hemorrhage grade reaches J3, the complete resection rate of ESD will be reduced and the additional operation rate will be increased. The non-antrum gastric lesion is an independent predictor of J3 occurrence.

Abstract:Aim To investigate the risk factors for delayed bleeding following endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for colorectal neoplasms. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 991 consecutive patients who underwent ESD for colorectal neoplasms at our hospital from January 2007 to November 2016. Delayed post-ESD bleeding was defined as bleeding within 6 h to 30 days after ESD that resulted in either of the three situations: overt hematochezia, bleeding spots confirmed by repeat colonoscopy, or the requirement of a blood transfusion. Delayed bleeding was furtherly separated into early and late delayed bleeding by the end of post-ESD day 2. We analyzed the relationship between delayed bleeding and candidate factors including patient-, lesion-, and treatment-related details. Results Delayed post-ESD bleeding was found in 47 patients (4.7%), of which 18 cases were late delayed bleeding. Among all patients, 14 patients required a second colonoscopy, and 2 other patients were transferred to surgery. Univariate analysis revealed that patients with hypertension ( p = 0.017) and using hot biopsy forceps for wound management ( p = 0.028) were significantly associated with late delayed bleeding. Both risk factors remained significant after multivariate analysis: hypertension (OR 2.829, 95% CI 1.101–7.265, p = 0.031), hot biopsy forceps (OR 2.873, 95% CI 1.013–8.147, p = 0.047). Using hot biopsy forceps was also the significant risk factor for late delayed bleeding compared with early delayed bleeding. Conclusion Patient with hypertension and using hot biopsy forceps for wound management during procedure call for attention on high risk of delayed post-ESD bleeding. Therefore, additional perioperative treatment is recommended in patients with these risk factors.

Development and validation of a predictive model for submucosal fibrosis in patients with early gastric cancer undergoing endoscopic submucosal dissection: experience from a large tertiary center

Abstract:Background: Submucosal fibrosis is associated with adverse events of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). The present study mainly aimed to establish a predictive model for submucosal fibrosis in patients with early gastric cancer (EGC) undergoing ESD. Methods: Eligible patients with EGC, identified at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University from April 2013 to December 2023, were retrospectively included and randomly split into a training set and a validation set in a 7:3 ratio. Logistic regression analyses were used to pinpoint the risk factors for submucosal fibrosis. A nomogram was developed and confirmed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration plots, Hosmer-Lemeshow (H-L) tests, and decision curve analysis (DCA) curves. Besides, a predictive model for severe submucosal fibrosis was further conducted and tested. Results: A total of 516 cases in the training group and 220 cases in the validation group were recruited. The nomogram for submucosal fibrosis contained the following items: tumour location (long axis), tumour location (short axis), ulceration, and biopsy pathology. ROC curves showed high efficiency with an area under the ROC of 0.819 in the training group, and 0.812 in the validation group. Calibration curves and H-L tests indicated good consistency. DCA proved the nomogram to be clinically beneficial. Furthermore, the four items were also applicable for a nomogram predicting severe fibrosis, and the model performed well. Conclusion: The predictive models, initially constructed in this study, were validated as convenient and feasible for endoscopists to predict submucosal fibrosis and severe fibrosis in patients with EGC undergoing ESD.
Risk-Scoring System for Prediction of Non-Curative Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection Requiring Additional Gastrectomy in Patients with Early Gastric Cancer

Abstract:PURPOSE: When patients with early gastric cancer (EGC) undergo non-curative endoscopic submucosal dissection requiring gastrectomy (NC-ESD-RG), additional medical resources and expenses are required for surgery. To reduce this burden, predictive model for NC-ESD-RG is required.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data from 2,997 patients undergoing ESD for 3,127 forceps biopsy-proven differentiated-type EGCs (2,345 and 782 in training and validation sets, respectively) were reviewed. Using the training set, the logistic stepwise regression analysis determined the independent predictors of NC-ESD-RG (NC-ESD other than cases with lateral resection margin involvement or piecemeal resection as the only non-curative factor). Using these predictors, a risk-scoring system for predicting NC-ESD-RG was developed. Performance of the predictive model was examined internally with the validation set.RESULTS: Rate of NC-ESD-RG was 17.3%. Independent pre-ESD predictors for NC-ESD-RG included moderately differentiated or papillary EGC, large tumor size, proximal tumor location, lesion at greater curvature, elevated or depressed morphology, and presence of ulcers. A risk-score was assigned to each predictor of NC-ESD-RG. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for predicting NC-ESD-RG was 0.672 in both training and validation sets. A risk-score of 5 points was the optimal cut-off value for predicting NC-ESD-RG, and the overall accuracy was 72.7%. As the total risk score increased, the predicted risk for NC-ESD-RG increased from 3.8% to 72.6%.CONCLUSIONS: We developed and validated a risk-scoring system for predicting NC-ESD-RG based on pre-ESD variables. Our risk-scoring system can facilitate informed consent and decision-making for preoperative treatment selection between ESD and surgery in patients with EGC.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the risk factors of post-endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) bleeding in elderly patients with early gastric neoplasm.Methods This retrospective study included consecutive 431 ESD procedures for early gastric neoplasm in 418 elderly patients (over 60 years old) during the period from January 2010 to January 2015.Risk factors including the patient-related factors, lesion-related factors, procedure-related factors were compared between the patients with or without post-ESD bleeding.Results Post-ESD bleeding was identified in 38 cases, with an incidence rate of 8.8%.Multivariate logistic analysis showed that the specimen size larger than 4 cm (OR=2.5, 95% CI: 1.12-5.58, P=0.026) and operative time longer than 70 minutes (OR=2.7;95% CI: 1.30-5.80, P=0.008) were independent risk factors of post-ESD bleeding.Conclusions In elderly patients receiving ESD for early gastric neoplasm, the specimen size and operative time are independent risk factors for post-ESD bleeding.The full preoperative evaluation of ESD is necessary in order to minimize the specimen size, shorten the operation time so as to reduce the risk of post-ESD bleeding.
Prediction of Esophageal Stricture after Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection in Patients with Early Esophageal Cancer

Abstract:Background: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) treatment of early esophageal cancer is effective and safe. It is currently the first-line treatment for early esophageal cancer. However, a common side effect is the development of esophageal strictures after ESD. This study was designed to identify the risk factors for esophageal stricture development and to predict its occurrence after ESD. Methods: In this retrospective study, 150 consecutive patients with early esophageal cancer treated with ESD at Daping Hospital, Chongqing, were enrolled between January 2016 and December 2020. Data on patient demographics, esophageal tumor characteristics, procedure-related factors, and postoperative situations were collected. We identified independent risk factors of esophageal stricture formation using univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression. The predictive probability was obtained after multivariate logistic analysis. In addition, patients were divided into six groups based on these risk factors and the rate of esophageal stricture in each group was analyzed. Results: The postoperative esophageal stricture rate was 14% (21/150). Tumor location (OR = 5.655, 95% CI: 1.245-25.691, P = 0.025) and circumferential resection range (OR = 16.113, 95% CI: 4.294-60.466, P < 0.001) are independent risk factors for the development of esophageal strictures. According to predictive probability analysis and the rates of stricture in six groups, we developed a possible flow chart to predict stricture formation. Conclusions: Tumor location and circumferential resection range are reliable risk factors to predict the occurrence of esophageal strictures. Our prediction flow chart suggests that tumors with a circumferential resection range of 1/2-3/4 and located above the upper thoracic segment or a circumferential resection range of > 3/4 have a high risk of postoperative stricture. Abstract:Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is generally used to treat gastric mucosal and submucosal lesions. Nevertheless, ESD is more difficult and complicated to perform than a traditional endoscopic mucosal resection, which can increase the incidence of various complications including hemorrhage, perforation and infection. Hemorrhage is a major post-ESD complication. Prevention and early diagnosis of post-ESD bleeding for gastric lesions are closely associated with the efficacy and safety of the operation. Many studies have reported the risks of and the preventative measures for hemorrhage after gastric ESD, but there remain some issues to be solved. We thus reviewed the risk factors, precautions and treatments for hemorrhage after ESD of gastric lesions.
IDDF2024-ABS-0046 Factors Associated with Intraoperative Bleeding in Patients with Early Gastric Cancer Undergoing Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection: the Role of Helicobacter Pylori Infection

Abstract:Background Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is commonly used to treat early gastric cancer (EGC). The effects of Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection on ESD and the potential benefits of preoperative eradication of HP are unclear. We aimed to study the impact of HP infection on bleeding and lesion detection during ESD in these patients. Methods A total of 634 consecutive patients who underwent ESD for EGC at our centre from January 2018 to January 2023 were enrolled retrospectively. Logistic regression was used to analyze intraoperative bleeding and lesion detection rate based on HP eradication status. The screened indicators were used to create a predictive model, and efficacy was assessed using the ROC curve. Results HP-positive patients had a higher intraoperative bleeding rate (28.8%) compared with Hp-negative patients (8.9%) (P<0.001). HP-positive patients also had longer procedure time (median: 58.5 vs 50.0 minutes, P<0.001) and postoperative hospital stay (median: 4.35 vs 4.07 days, P=0.036) compared to HP-negative patients. Multivariate analysis revealed that HP-positive (OR=4.84), multiple lesions (OR=1.81), specimen size > 40 mm (OR=3.67), and submucosal invasion (OR=2.27) were independent risk factors for intraoperative bleeding (IDDF2024-ABS-0046 Figure 1). The predictive model had an AUC of 0.807 (95%CI=0.761-0.852) with a sensitivity of 72.1% and a specificity of 75.9% (IDDF2024-ABS-0046 Figure 2). Eradicating HP also increased the rate of lesion detection independently (OR=2.82). Conclusions HP eradication before ESD in patients with EGC reduces intraoperative bleeding and improves lesion detection. It is very necessary to eradicate HP before ESD for patients with EGC.
Establishment and Validation of Risk Prediction Models for Postoperative Pain After Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection: A Retrospective Clinical Study

Abstract:Objective: Postoperative pain is a common complication in endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) patients. This study aimed to develop and validate predictive models for postoperative pain associated ESD. Methods: We retrospectively constructed a development cohort comprising 2162 patients who underwent ESD at our hospital between January 2015 and April 2022. The dataset was randomly divided into a training set (n = 1541) and a validation set (n = 621) in a 7:3 ratio. The bidirectional stepwise regression with Akaike's information criterion (AIC) and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to screen the predictors of post-ESD pain and construct three nomograms. We evaluated the model's discrimination, precision and clinical benefit through receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration plots, Hosmer-Lemeshow (HL) goodness-of-fit test and decision curve analysis (DCA) in internal validation. Results: The proportion of patients developing postoperative pain in the training and testing data set was 25.6% and 28.5%, respectively. Three nomograms were constructed according to the final logistic regression models. The clinical prediction models for preoperative risks, preoperative and intraoperative risks, and perioperative risks consisted of seven, nine and six independent predictors, respectively, after bidirectional stepwise elimination. The models demonstrated the AUC of 0.794 (95% CI 0.768-0.820), 0.823 (95% CI 0.799-0.847) and 0.817 (95% CI 0.792-0.842) in the training cohort and 0.702 (95% CI 0.655-0.748), 0.705 (95% CI 0.659-0.752) and 0.747 (95% CI 0.703-0.790) in the validation cohort. The calibration plot, HL and DCA demonstrated the model's favorable clinical applicability. Conclusion: We developed and validated three robust nomogram models, which might identify patients at risk of post-ESD pain and promising for clinical applications.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a treatment for early gastric cancer with the advantages of small invasion, fewer complications, and a low local recurrence rate. However, there is a high risk of complications such as bleeding and perforation, and the operation time is also longer. ESD operation time is closely related to bleeding and perforation.AIM: To investigate the influencing factors associated with ESD operation time and postoperative delayed hemorrhage to provide a reference for early planning, early identification, and prevention of complications.METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study based on the clinical data of 520 patients with early gastric cancer in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University from January 2019 to December 2021. The baseline data, clinical features, and endoscopic and pathological characteristics of patients were collected. The multivariate linear regression model was used to investigate the influencing factors of ESD operation time. Logistic regression analysis was carried out to evaluate the influencing factors of postoperative delayed hemorrhage.RESULTS: The multivariate analysis of ESD operation time showed that the maximum lesion diameter could affect 8.815% of ESD operation time when other influencing factors remained unchanged. The operation time increased by 3.766% or 10.247% if the lesion was mixed or concave. The operation time increased by 4.417% if combined with an ulcer or scar. The operation time increased by 3.692% if combined with perforation. If infiltrated into the submucosa, it increased by 2.536%. Multivariate analysis of delayed hemorrhage after ESD showed that the maximum diameter of the lesion, lesion morphology, and ESD operation time were independent influencing factors for delayed hemorrhage after ESD. Patients with lesion ≥ 3.0 cm (OR = 3.785, 95%CI: 1.165-4.277), lesion morphology-concave (OR = 10.985, 95%CI: 2.133-35.381), and ESD operation time ≥ 60 min (OR = 2.958, 95%CI: 1.117-3.526) were prone to delayed hemorrhage after ESD.CONCLUSION: If the maximum diameter of the lesion in patients with early gastric cancer is ≥ 3.0 cm, and the shape of the lesion is concave, or accompanied by an ulcer or scar, combined with perforation, and infiltrates into the submucosa, the ESD operation will take a longer time. When the maximum diameter of the lesion is ≥ 3.0 cm, the shape of the lesion is concave in patients and the operation time of ESD takes longer time, the risk of delayed hemorrhage after ESD is higher.

Abstract:Background and Study Aim: EGC, also known as Early Gastric Cancer is known to lack the lymph node metastasis and confined along the mucosa, which is treated through an endoscopic resection procedure that includes ESD (Endoscopic Submucosal dissection) and EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection). However, some cases underwent residual disease, recurrence, or additional gastrectomy because of non-curative resection. The following research aims to delineate the threat factors causing the non-curative resection as well as develop a predictive model. Patient and Methods: Effort was taken to collect all the records about the health history of pathologically diagnosed EGC who experienced endoscopic treatment in the Department of Endoscopy, the Capital Medical University, and Beijing Friendship Hospital from January 2012 to January 2020. Patients were grouped into two categories primarily; a curative resection group and finally a non-curative resection group based on the outcomes of the postoperative pathological and immunohistochemical examination results. The statistical methods used included single factor analysis, a multivariate logistic regression analysis and a chi-square test. A nomogram for the prediction of non-curative resection was constructed, which included information on age, gender, resection method, postoperative pathology, tumor size, ulcer, treatment, and infiltration depth. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and calibration were performed to present the predictive accuracy of the nomogram. Results: Of 443 patients with 478 lesions who had undergone ESD or EMR for EGCs, 127 were identified as being treated non-curative resection. Older patients (>60 years), a large tumor size (>30 mm), submucosal lesion, piecemeal resection, EMR for treatment and undifferentiated tumor histology were associated with non-curative resection group. Our risk nomogram showed good discriminated performance in internal validation (bootstrap-corrected area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve, 0.881; P < 0.001). Conclusions: A validated prediction model was developed to identify people who were subject to undergoing a non-curative resection for ESD. The predictive model that we formulated is essential in providing reliable information to guide the decision-making process on the treatment for EGC before undertaking an endoscopic resection.
