Abstract:We evaluate a number of new instanton-induced phenomena in QCD, starting with static dipole-dipole potentials, and proceeding to quark-quark and dipole-dipole scattering at high energy. We use a nonperturbative formulation of the scattering amplitude in terms of a correlator of two Wilson lines (quarks) or Wilson loops (dipoles) and analyze the Euclidean amplitudes with both perturbative gluons and instantons. The results are analytically continued to Minkowski geometry by interpreting the angle between the Wilson lines as rapidity. We discuss the relevance of our results for the phenomenology of near-forward hadronic processes at high energy, especially for processes with multiple color exchanges.

Abstract:We analyze some aspects of the perturbative and nonperturbative interactions in the composition of heavy quarkonia, heavy and light baryons ( ccc and uuu ones), as well as all charm tetraquarks ( ccc ̄c ̄ ). Using the hyperspherical approximation and effective radial potentials (in six and nine dimensions, respectively) we derive their spectra and wave functions. In all of the cases, we focus on the splittings between the S -shell levels, which are remarkably insensitive to the quark masses, but proportional to the effective interaction potentials. We use the traditional Cornell-like potentials, and the nonperturbative instanton-induced static potentials, from correlators of two, three, and four Wilson lines, and find rather satisfactory description of spectra in all cases. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.109.014022 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Instanton Effects on the Twist-Three Light-Cone Distribution Amplitudes of Pion and Light Scalar Mesons above 1 GeV

Abstract:By use of single instanton approximation the twist-3 light-cone distribution amplitudes of pion as well as the p-wave mesons, i.e., $f_{0}(1370)$, $K_{0}^{\ast}(1430)$ and $a_{0}(1450)$ are investigated within the framework of QCD moment sum rules with inclusion of instanton effects based on the valence quark model. Results show that there is much change on light-cone distribution amplitudes by the isospin- and chirality-dependent instanton contribution compared with the instanton-free ones. We find the intanton involved twist-3 LCDAs are non-positive-definite within some range of momentum fraction and there are rapid changes at two ends of momentum fraction. To guarantee the convergence of moments by the method in this work a low instanton density should be adopted, for instance $n_{c}=1/2\rm{fm^{-4}}$ is welcomed. Possible ingredients which might have impact on the results are briefly discussed. These light-cone distribution amplitudes may be helpful to analyze exclusive heavy flavored processes.
Effect Of Instanton On The Qcd Sum Rule Of 0(++) Glueball

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the instanton effects to the mass of 0(++) glueball by QCD sum rule approach. The instantons are assummed to be free from each other and be with definite density varying with their sizes. We find the upper bound of mass of the 0(++) glueball is 1.3GeV and very possibly the mass can be as low as 1GeV. Besides, the instanton effects greatly improve the stability of the sum rule and overtake the contribution of quarks and gluons condensate. The centre size of instantons at 1/3fm can give the stablest sum rule.

Abstract:In this paper, we study instanton contributions to the correlator of the hybrid current g (q) over bar sigma(mu nu)G(nu mu mu)(a)T(q)(a). These contributions are then included in a QCD sum-rule analysis of the isoscalar 0(++) hybrid mass. We find a mass at 1.83 GeV for the ((u) over bar ug + (d) over bar dg)/root 2 p hybrid. Gluons, light and heavy quarks and their interactions in the instanton vacuum

Abstract:The instanton size $\rho$ and inter-instanton distance $R$ are the main parameters of Instanton Liquid Model (ILM) of the QCD vacuum. Various estimates show that $\rho\approx1/3$ fm and $R\approx1$ fm, and the corresponding packing parameter $\kappa=\rho^{4}/R^{4}\approx0.01$. The strength of the light quark-instanton interaction is sizable and close to that of the gluon-instanton one since the dynamical light quark mass $M_{q}$ and dynamical gluon mass $M_{g}$ are given by $M_{q}\approx M_{g}\approx 360$ MeV$\sim\kappa^{1/2}\rho^{-1}$. On the other hand, the strength of the heavy quark-instanton interaction is weak - the direct instanton contribution to the heavy quark mass $\Delta M_{Q}^{\rm dir}\approx70$ MeV$\sim\kappa\rho^{-1}.$ The instantons are responsible for mutual interactions among colored particles which are crossing the field of the same instanton, like t'Hooft-like interactions of $N_{f}$ light quarks ($N_{f}$ is the light quark flavors number). The light quark propagators in the instanton field have zero modes, which give dominant contributions. Within ILM we are able to derive the light quarks determinants and the light quarks partition function. These tools perfectly describe the light quark physics and its most important and basic phenomena - the spontaneous breaking of the chiral symmetry (SBChS) in details. These one allows us to find the properties of light and heavy quarks interactions and get SBChS traces in light-heavy and heavy-heavy quarks systems. So, we need to find heavy $Q\bar{Q}$ quarkonia spectra and their wave functions. Here we have interplay of two scales: short ($\sim(M_{Q}v)^{-1}\leq0.15$ fm) perturbative QCD and large ($\sim(M_{Q}v^{2})^{-1}\sim0.5$ fm) nonperturbative QCD scales, where $v$ is the velocity in $Q\bar{Q}$. We calculate the heavy quarks correlators with perturbative corrections within ILM.

Abstract:The dynamical fluctuations in instanton induced events in e+p deep-inelastic scattering are studied using QCDINS 2.0 Monte Carlo generator. The hadron system produced from the fusion of quark–gluon in the presence of instanton, referred to as instanton final state (IFS), is identified by a pz-sorting together with a θ cut method. The dynamical fluctuations inside the current jet and IFS are compared by means of the method of normalized factorial moments. The current jets are found to possess the typical characteristics of a "circular jet" with axial symmetry, while the dynamical fluctuations inside the IFS represent a three-dimensional isotropy.

Abstract:We study production of two pairs of jets in %hard hadron--hadron collisions in view of extracting contribution of {\em double hard interactions} of three and four partons ($3\to4$, $4\to4$). Such interactions, in spite of being power suppressed at the level of the total cross section, become comparable with the standard hard collisions of two partons, $2\to4$, in the {\em back-to-back kinematics} when the transverse momentum imbalances of two pairing jets are relatively small. We express differential and total cross sections for two-dijet production in double parton collisions through the generalized two-parton distributions, $_2$GPDs \cite{BDFS1}, that contain large-distance two-parton correlations of non-perturbative origin as well as small-distance correlations due to parton evolution. We find that these large- and small-distance correlations participate in different manner in 4-jet production, and treat them in the leading logarithmic approximation of pQCD that resums collinear logarithms in all orders. A special emphasis is given to $3\to4$ double hard interaction processes that occur as an interplay between large- and short-distance parton correlations and were not taken into consideration by approaches inspired by the parton model picture. We demonstrate that the $3\to4$ mechanism, being of the same order in $\as$ as the $4\to4$ process, turns out to be {\em geometrically enhanced} compared to the latter and should contribute significantly to 4-jet production. The framework developed here takes into systematic consideration perturbative $Q^2$ evolution of $_2$GPDs. It can be used as a basis for future analysis of NLO corrections to multi-parton interactions (MPI) at LHC and Tevatron colliders, in particular for improving evaluation of QCD backgrounds to new physics searches.

Abstract:Worldline instantons have previously been used to study the probability of Schwinger pair production (both the exponential and pre-exponential parts) and photon-stimulated pair production (the exponential part). Previous studies obtained the pair-production probability on the probability level by using unitarity, i.e. the imaginary part of the effective action for Schwinger pair production or the imaginary part of the polarization tensor for photon-stimulated pair production. The corresponding instantons are closed loops in the complex plane. Here we show how to use instantons on the amplitude level, which means open instanton lines with start and end points representing fermions at asymptotic times. The amplitude is amputated with LSZ using, in general, field-dependent asymptotic states. We show how to use this formalism for photon-stimulated/Breit-Wheeler pair production and nonlinear Compton scattering.

Glue in hadrons at medium resolution and the QCD instanton vacuum

Abstract:We discuss a general framework for the evaluation of the gluonic form factors in light hadrons at low momentum transfer, in the QCD instanton vacuum. At medium resolution of the order of the inverse mean instanton size, the glue is mostly localized in single or pair of pseudoparticles, and globally constrained by the fluctuations of their topological charges. These pseudoparticles trap light quarks, giving rise to emerging multiflavor 't Hooft interactions. We explicitly evaluate the gluonic scalar, pseudoscalar, energy-momentum tensor (EMT), and the leading C-odd and C-even three gluons hadronic form factors, at next to leading order (NLO) in the instanton density, including molecular clusters of like and unlike instantons. We use the results for the EMT to address the contribution of the gluons in Ji$^\prime$s mass and spin sum rules, at low resolution. When evolved, our results for the mass and spin composition of the nucleon, are shown to be in good agreement with the recently reported lattice results at higher resolution.

Pion gravitational form factors in the QCD instanton vacuum I

Abstract:The pion form factors of the QCD energy-momentum tensor (EMT) are studied in the instanton liquid model (ILM) of the QCD vacuum. In this approach the breaking of conformal symmetry is encoded in the form of stronger-than-Poisson fluctuations in the number of instantons. For the trace of the EMT, it is shown that the gluonic trace anomaly term contributes half the pion mass, with the other half coming from the quark-mass-dependent sigma term. The $Q^2$ dependence of the form factors is governed by glueball and scalar meson exchanges. For the traceless EMT, the spin-0 and 2 form factors are computed at next-to-leading order in the instanton density using effective quark operators. Relations between the gluon and quark contributions to the EMT form factors are derived. The form factors are also expressed in terms of the pion light-front wave functions in the ILM. The results at the low resolution scale of the inverse instanton size are evolved to higher scales using the renormalization group equation. The ILM results compare well with those of recent lattice QCD calculations.

Abelian Instantons and Monopole Scattering

Abstract:It is usually assumed that $4D$ instantons can only arise in non-Abelian theories. In this paper we re-examine this conventional wisdom by explicitly constructing instantons in an Abelian gauge theory: ${\rm QED}_4$ with $N_f$ flavors of Dirac fermions, in the background of a Dirac monopole. This is the low-energy effective field theory for fermions interacting with a 't Hooft-Polyakov monopole, in the limit where the monopole is infinitely heavy (hence pointlike) and static. This theory, whose non-topological sectors were studied by Rubakov and Callan, has a far richer structure than previously explored. We show how to calculate the topological instanton number, demonstrate the existence of 't Hooft zero modes localized around such instantons, and show how instantons in the path integral provide the underlying mechanism for the Callan-Rubakov process: monopole-catalyzed baryon decay with a cross section that saturates the unitarity bound. Our computation relies on correctly identifying the relevant $2D$ EFT for monopole catalysis as Axial ${\rm QED}_2$ in an effective $AdS_2$ metric.

Abstract:We have implemented leading order photon production processes in nonequilibrium partonic transport simulations. These include Compton scattering, quark-antiquark annihilation and bremsstrahlung. We use BAMPS (Boltzmann Approach To Multi-Parton Scatterings), a numerical code which solves the 3+1d ultrarelativistic Boltzmann equation for massless on-shell quarks and gluons with Monte-Carlo methods. It allows us to study photon production microscopically, including strong nonequilibrium effects. BAMPS is applicable for the whole evolution of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) in RHIC and LHC heavy-ion collisions, where the photon production is influenced by the chemical and thermal non-equilibrium state in the early phase. Highly energetic quark- and gluon jets will convert into or radiate photons, effects we include by default. We show results for photon spectra from the QGP and investigate its role for the elliptic flow of photons. The yield is smaller than results from other groups, the reason is the slow quark chemical equilibration. Photons induced by jet-like particles show very different momentum anisotropies compared to a hydrodynamically flowing medium.

Abstract:QCD instantons generate non-perturbative spin- and flavor- dependent correlations between light quarks. We report on the results of a series of studies on the contribution of instantons to the electro-weak structure of light hadrons. We show that the Instanton Liquid Model can reproduce the available data on proton and pion form factors at large momentum transfer, and explain the delay of the onset of the perturbative regime in some exclusive reactions. We provide unambiguous evidence that instantons lead to the formation of a deeply bound scalar, color anti-triplet diquark, with a mass of about 450 MeV. The strong attraction in the [Formula: see text], scalar diquark channel leads to a quantitative description of non-leptonic decays of hyperons and provides a microscopic dynamical explanation of the Δ I = 1/2 rule.

Direct quarkonium production in DIS from a joint CGC and NRQCD framework

Abstract:We compute the differential cross section for direct quarkonium production in high-energy electron-nucleus collisions at small $x$. Our computation is performed within the nonrelativistic QCD factorization formalism that separates the calculation into short distance coefficients and long distance matrix elements that depend on the color and spin of the state. We obtain the short distance coefficients of the production of the heavy quark pair within the framework of the Color Glass Condensate effective field theory, which resums coherent multiple interactions of the heavy quark pair with the nucleus to all orders. Our results are expressed as the convolution of perturbatively calculable perturbative functions with multi-point light-like Wilson line correlators. In the correlation limit, we establish the correspondence between our CGC formulation with calculations employing the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) framework. We extend this correspondence by resumming kinematic power corrections within the improved TMD framework, which interpolates between the TMD formalism and $k_\perp$ factorization formalism. We present a detailed numerical analysis, focusing on $J/\psi$ production in the kinematics accessible at the future Electron-Ion Collider, highlighting the importance of genuine higher-order saturation contributions when the electron collides with a large nucleus.
