Abstract:The Earth Critical Zone (ECZ) is a captivating realm encompassing interconnected processes between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and geosphere that influence and support systems for life and shape the surface of our planet. A profound grasp of the ECZ is vital for comprehending the diverse aspects of its properties, such as soil health, nutrient cycling, hydrological cycling, and socioeconomics. In alignment with this vision, an open-access journal, “Earth Critical Zone”, has been inaugurated. This journal provides a valuable platform for scientists and researchers to disseminate their findings, share innovative ideas, and exchange new methodologies related to the intricate processes occurring within the ECZ. In this context, we present a comprehensive overview of the journal's conceptual framework, the current state-of-the-art and emerging areas of research and its focal areas of interest. We extend a warm invitation for the submission of impactful papers. Join us in exploring the dynamic landscapes of the ECZ, wherein the convergence of knowledge and inquiry shapes our understanding of this crucial space within which we live.

Abstract:It gives me great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you once again to the latest issue of the Journal of Educational Sciences. This issue comprises a diverse range of research studies conducted by distinguished researchers from various parts of the Arab world. These researches examined a number of contemporary and pressing issues in the field of education. These are as follows: The level of pedagogical content knowledge among female new science teachers in the Sultanate of Oman in light of a number of variables: A longitudinal survey study; The effectiveness of a counseling program in developing social skills and reducing the level of withdrawal behavior among the persons with handicapped in Al- Shafalah Centre; Sultan Qaboos University students’ online learning self-efficacy during the spread of corona pandemic (Covid-19); Post-traumatic stress disorder and psychological security among a sample of families of coronavirus victims in the Gaza Strip; The effectiveness of an enrichment program in enhancing security awareness among tenth grade students in the Sultanate of Oman and their attitudes towards it; The extent of including the dimensions of scientific literacy in the projects participating in the globe environmental program in the Sultanate of Oman; The relationship between the mental health and attitude toward work among a sample of Syrian workers in the health sector residing inside and outside Syria (Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia) during the spread of coronavirus-19; The creative curriculum from the perspectives of early childhood teachers at Qatar University's Early Childhood Center; Dogmatism among students at King Saud University and its correlation with various factors; Developing an educational program based on artificial intelligence applications and evaluating its effectiveness in enhancing modern geographic concepts among gifted secondary school students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These studies have yielded multiple findings and presented valuable suggestions that can serve as potential avenues for new research topics. I encourage researchers to leverage the knowledge embedded in these studies to enhance their educational projects. By building upon the efforts of their peers in seeking a deeper understanding of educational issues, they can contribute to the enrichment of educational literature with fresh insights and perspectives. Moreover, I extend a gracious invitation to decision-makers to explore the findings and recommendations of these studies and harness them in their decision-making processes. By doing so, we can reinforce educational approaches that emphasize aligning educational decisions with the outcomes of scientific research. Wishing you a delightful and enriching reading experience.

Laser and Particle Beams

Abstract:The start of a new issue in a new year is always an opportunity to look back and to say thank you to the members of the editorial board and the editorial staff who made it possible that we were able to publish four interesting issues in Volume 24 last year. First of all, I want to thank the scientific community for submitting a large number of excellent original research papers to Laser and Particle Beams. In 2006, we were able to publish 71 articles plus editorial material and corrections. The average article in the journal is now 8–9 printed pages, and we have thus achieved the editorial goal to offer the community a place to publish their results without general space restrictions. Authors have accepted this opportunity to present their material with the necessary details. This seems to be very important to readers and authors as well, and we see that for a second consecutive year many articles in Laser and Particle Beams are referenced already during the first year, which is remarkable for a small journal with only four issues per year.

Abstract:After dedicating 5 years as an Associate Technical Editor and 2 years as an Associate Editor-in-Chief, I am truly honored and humbled to assume the leadership role for the next chapter of IEEE Communications Magazine. I have had the distinct pleasure of collaborating with the esteemed past Editor-in-Chiefs, Dr. Antonio Sanchez-Esguevillas, Dr. Tarek S. El-Bawab, and Dr. Osman Gebizlioglu, over the past seven years. Their dedication and hard work in upholding the quality and integrity of IEEE Communications Magazine have been inspiring. Thanks to the strong leadership and great efforts of the past Editor-in-Chiefs, editors, reviewers, readers, and ComSoc publications staff, IEEE Communications Magazine has reached a great achievement with an impact factor of 11.2 as of 2023. As we move forward, building upon the solid foundation laid by our past Editor-in-Chiefs and editors, I plan to continue elevating the magazine's intellectual quality, scientific impact, and visibility. More particularly, I plan to further focus on enhancing the magazine's quality, impact, and influence, keeping the magazine at the forefront of the communications field; promoting diversity and inclusion across various aspects, including technical areas, industry, academia, geography, gender, seniority, and more; and increasing more industry engagement in magazine's contents, editorship, authorship, and readership. Abstract:With the arrival of 2012, the journal of Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering in China has stepped into the sixth year since its birth. It is a great pleasure to express sincere thanks to all of our authors, editors, reviewers and readers who have supported us for the past five years, and wish you have a very promising and happy new year. Environmental issues draw global attention. China is also very concerned about these issues, and has strengthened communication and cooperation with other countries. The goal of our journal is to provide an international communication platform of high quality. Here I am pleased to announce two pieces of good news. First, our journal will change its name from the Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering in China to the Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering, representing a step forward as an international journal. Second, the journal will change from a quarterly to a bi-monthly journal in order to provide more opportunities for environmental researchers to communicate and to publish their excellent works. In 2011, we have selected three best papers as The Annual Best Paper in recognition for the most influential papers and with an aim to promote the basic knowledge of environmental sciences and the development of engineering technologies. In 2012, we will continue with The Annual Best Paper contest in order to draw more attention to the journal, and to encourage innovations in the environmental fields. Meanwhile, we will continue to make efforts to further improve our journal. Again, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks for your support.
