Abstract:The aim of this paper is to determine the structure and to establish the isomorphic invariant of the finitely generated nilpotent group G of infinite cyclic commutator subgroup. Using the structure and invariant of the group which is the central extension of a cyclic group by a free abelian group of finite rank of infinite cyclic center, we provide a decomposition of G as the product of a generalized extraspecial ℤ-group and its center. By using techniques of lifting isomorphisms of abelian groups and equivalent normal form of the generalized extraspecial ℤ-groups, we finally obtain the structure and invariants of the group G.

Abstract:It is well known that if $G$ is a group and $H$ is a normal subgroup of $G$ of finite index $k$, then $x^k \in H$ for every $x \in G$. We examine finite groups $G$ with the property that $x^k \in H$ for every subgroup $H$ of $G$, where $k$ is the index of $H$ in $G$. We prove that a finite group $G$ satisfies this property if and only if $G$ is nilpotent.

Abstract:Let G be , the finitary permutation (i.e., permutations with finite support) group on the set of positive integers . We prove that G has the invariant von Neumann subalgebras rigidity (ISR, for short) property as introduced in Amrutam–Jiang's work. More precisely, every G -invariant von Neumann subalgebra is of the form L ( H ) for some normal subgroup and in this case, or G , where denotes the finitary alternating group on , i.e., the subgroup of all even permutations in . This gives the first known example of an infinite amenable group with the ISR property.

Abstract:Let H be a subgroup of a finite group G . We say that H satisfies the Π-property in G if for any chief factor L / K of G , ∣ G / K : N G/K ( HK/K ∩ L / K )∣ is a π ( HK/K ∩ L / K )-number. We obtain some criteria for the p -supersolubility or p -nilpotency of a finite group and extend some known results by concerning some subgroups that satisfy the Π-property.

Abstract:Let $A$ and $G$ be finite groups such that $A$ acts coprimely on $G$ by automorphisms. We provide a complete classification of a finite group $G$ in which every maximal $A$-invariant subgroup containing the normalizer of some $A$-invariant Sylow subgroup is nilpotent. Moreover, we show that both the hypothesis that every maximal $A$-invariant subgroup of $G$ containing the normalizer of some $A$-invariant Sylow subgroup is nilpotent and the hypothesis that every non-nilpotent maximal $A$-invariant subgroup of $G$ is normal are equivalent.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the direct product $G=\pi_1(\Sigma)\times \Z^k$ for $\Sigma$ a compact orientable surface with negative Euler characteristic, and give a complete classification of its fixed subgroups of automorphisms. As a corollary, we show that $G$ contains, up to isomorphism, infinitely many fixed subgroups of automorphisms if and only if $k\geq 2$, which is a contrast to that of hyperbolic groups. As an application on Nielsen fixed point theory, we provide a family of aspherical manifolds without Jiang's Bound Index Property. Moreover, we also give some results on the fixed subgroups of the direct product $H\times \Z^k$ for $H$ a non-elementary torsion-free hyperbolic group.

Abstract:Let be the class of groups satisfying the minimal condition on normal subgroups and let Ω be the class of groups of finite lower central depth, that is groups G such that γ i ( G ) = γ i +1 ( G ) for some positive integer i . The main result states that if G is a finitely generated hyper-(Abelian-by-finite) group such that for every x ∈ G , there exists a normal subgroup H x of finite index in G satisfying for every h ∈ H x , then G is finite-by-nilpotent. As a consequence of this result, we prove that a finitely generated hyper-(Abelian-by-finite) group G such that for every x ∈ G , there exists a normal subgroup H x of finite index in G satisfying for every h ∈ H x , is periodic-by-nilpotent; where stands for the class of periodic groups.

Abstract:Let A and G be finite groups such that A acts coprimely on G by automorphisms. We prove that if every self-centralizing non-nilpotent A -invariant subgroup of G is a TI-subgroup or a subnormal subgroup, then every non-nilpotent A -invariant subgroup of G is subnormal and G is p -nilpotent or p -closed for any prime divisor p of | G | . If every self-centralizing non-metacyclic A -invariant subgroup of G is a TI-subgroup or a subnormal subgroup, then every non-metacyclic A -invariant subgroup of G is subnormal and G is solvable.

Abstract:A residually finite (profinite) group $G$ is just infinite if every non-trivial (closed) normal subgroup of $G$ is of finite index. This paper considers the problem of determining whether a (closed) subgroup $H$ of a just infinite group is itself just infinite. If $G$ is not virtually abelian, we give a description of the just infinite property for normal subgroups in terms of maximal subgroups. In particular, we show that such a group $G$ is hereditarily just infinite if and only if all maximal subgroups of finite index are just infinite. We also obtain results for certain families of virtually abelian groups, including all virtually abelian pro-$p$ groups and their discrete analogues.

Abstract:Given an inverse semigroup $G_0$ of bounded type, we show, along with some other assumptions, that if the set of incompressible elements of $G_0$ is finite, then any finitely generated subgroup $G$ of the topological full group $\mathsf{F}(G_0)$ that is orbit equivalent to $G_0$ has subexponential growth with a bounded power in the exponent.

Abstract:Let G be an infinite simple group of finite Morley rank and α a supertight automorphism of G so that the fixed point subgroup Pn:=CG(αn) is pseudofinite for all n∈N∖{0} . It is know (using CFSG) that the socle Sn:=Soc(Pn) is a (twisted) Chevalley group over a pseudofinite field. We prove that there is r∈N∖{0} so that for each n we have [Pn:Sn] and that there is no m∈N∖{0} so that for each n the sizes of the Sylow 2-subgroups of Sn are bounded by m . We also note that in the recent identification result of G under the assumption pr2(G)=1 , the use of CFSG is not needed.
