Abstract:Die Anforderungen an die arbeitsseitige Spindelabdichtung steigen immer weiter. Ursache dafur sind die immer hoheren Zerspanungsleistungen moderner Werkzeugma-schinen. Neue Zerspanungstechnologien wie beispielsweise die Trockenbearbeitung fuhren zu einer trockenen Feststoffbeaufschlagung der Dichtsysteme und damit zu einer neuen Abdichtaufgabe. Ubergeordnetes Ziel der Arbeit sind abgesicherte Gestaltungsrichtlinien fur beruhrungsfreie Wellendichtsysteme bei extremen Beaufschlagungsbedingungen durch Kuhlschmierstoff und/oder Feststoffe. Das Verschmutzungsverhalten von Fangkammerdichtsystemen kann durch die erarbei-teten Gestaltungshinweise deutlich verbessert werden. Bei geeignet ausgelegten und gestalteten Sperrluftdichtsystemen gibt es keinen Eindringstrom in das Dichtsystem, der zu Feststoffablagerungen im Innenbereich der Dichtung fuhrt. Trockene Feststoffe konnen nicht mit reinen Fangkammerdichtsystemen abgedichtet werden. Dahingegen kann mit Sperrluftdichtsystemen, unabhangig von der Beaufschla-gungsart (trockene Feststoffe, Feststoff-Flussigkeitsgemische oder extreme Flussig-keitsbeaufschlagung), bei identischer Dichtsystemgestaltung eine beruhrungsfreie Dichtwirkung erzielt werden. Die erarbeiteten Gestaltungshinweise und das masstabliche Konstruktionsbeispiel einer Sperrluftdichtung fur eine fettgeschmierte Spindellagerung erleichtern eine effiziente Gestaltung beruhrungsfreier Spindeldichtsysteme. Die vorgestellte Berechnungssyste-matik ermoglicht eine einfache Abschatzung der Betriebsparameter von Sperrluftdichtsystemen. The working-spindle of a machine tool is one of the most important components in the line of force. It has a large influence on the static and dynamic behaviour of the machine tool and determines the achievable production quality and the productivity of the machine tool. Under all circumstances the bearings of the spindle must be protected against cooling lubricants and chips. The requirements on the spindle sealing systems are still increasing. A cause for it is the chipping enhancement of modern machine tools. Among other things this is possible with high speed spindles and higher pressure on the supply of the cooling lubricants. Together with the stronger splinter accumula-tion in the work area, harder conditions for the sealing systems are the result. New machine technologies as for example the method of dry processing leads to a dry, solid load on the sealing systems and thus to a new task of sealing. Superordinate goal of this research work are secured guidelines, based on experimental results, for non-contact rotary sealing systems for extreme conditions by cooling lubri-cants and/or solids. The contamination behaviour in the interior zone of liquid-collecting labyrinth seals can be improved with the described design details. With suitable designed air-barrier seals there is no penetration of liquid into the sealing system, which leads to solid depo-sits in the internal area of the seal. Dry solids or dust, for example produced by dry processing, cannot be sealed with liquid-collecting labyrinth seals without an air-barrier. In contrast air-barrier seals are suitable. Independent from the conditions (dry solids or dust, solid liquid mixtures or extreme liquid splashing) there is one air-barrier seal design suitable for the non-contact sealing of rotating spindles. The compiled guidelines, the conclusions and the full-scale design example of an air-barrier seal for a grease lubricated spindle bearing makes it easier to understand the function of non-contact rotary sealing systems. Additionally a method of calculation is presented to estimate the operating parameters of air-barrier seals. The results of this work are not only valid for the non-contact sealing of rotating spindles for machine tools, they are also suitable for other applications in mechanical engineering.
