Abstract:In this paper, using the existence of infinite equidistant subsets of closed balls, we characterize the injectivity of ultrametric spaces for finite ultrametric spaces, which also gives a characterization of the Urysohn universal ultrametric spaces. As an application, we find that the operations of the Cartesian product and the hyperspaces preserve the structures of the Urysohn universal ultrametric spaces. Namely, let $(X, d)$ be the Urysohn universal ultrametric space. Then we show that $(X\times X, d\times d)$ is isometric to $(X, d)$. Next we prove that the hyperspace consisting of all non-empty compact subsets of $(X, d)$ and symmetric products of $(X, d)$ are isometric to $(X, d)$. We also establish that every complete ultrametric space injective for finite ultrametric space contains a subspace isometric to $(X, d)$.

Some Remarks on Partial Metric Spaces

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate some topological properties of partial metric spaces (in short PMS). We give some relationship between metric-like PMS, sequentially isosceles PMS and sequentially equilateral PMS. We also prove a type of Urysohn’s lemma for metric-like PMS. By applying the construction of Hartman–Mycielski, we show that every bounded PMS can be isometrically embedded into a pathwise connected and locally pathwise connected PMS. In the end, we show that a partial metric space is compact iff it is totally bounded and complete.

Abstract:We study the topology of a class of proper submodules and some of its distinguished subclasses and call them structure spaces. We give several criteria for the quasi-compactness of these structure spaces. We study $T_0$ and $T_1$ separation properties and characterize structure spaces in which nonempty irreducible closed subsets have unique generic points. We provide a sufficient condition for the connectedness of structure spaces. We prove that the structure spaces of proper submodules are spectral, and moreover, we characterize the spectral structure spaces of Noetherian modules. Finally, we discuss continuous functions between these spaces.

Abstract:The topological properties of coverings and their corresponding covering approximation operators have drawn special attention because these topological properties have important applications in rough sets. In this paper, we present some topological characterizations for three covering approximation operators. In the first part, we present certain topological characterizations for the covering lower approximation operator in an infinite universe, while the topological characterizations for the first and the second types of covering upper approximation operators are studied in a finite universe. In the second part, the relationships among three operators and the relationships among three topological spaces are established. In a word, topology theory provides useful tools to study covering-based rough sets.

Abstract:The study of infra-topological spaces focuses on characterizations of $e^\star$-open sets and nearby open sets in infra-topological spaces. The $e^\star$-open sets, a variation of open sets, are explored for their unique properties and relationships within the infra-topological framework. Additionally, nearby open sets, which capture the notion of points being close to each other, are investigated to provide a comprehensive understanding of the topological structure. The research aims to contribute to the broader field of topology by extending traditional concepts to infra-topological spaces, offering new perspectives on openness and proximity. The findings not only deepen our understanding of mathematical structures but also open avenues for applications in various scientific and engineering disciplines.

Abstract:This article discusses the structure of topological spaces: We study regular and complete spaces over topological quasigroups and quasirings, as well as their embeddings and separations, homeomorphisms and isomorphisms, as well as relations between compactifications and the completeness of spaces over topological quasigroups. We also consider applications to topological spaces of families of mappings over topological quasigroups and quasirings together with their restrictions, openness, and continuous bijections. Some necessary theorems are established about the structure of topological quasigroups.

Abstract:We find an extension of the quasi-metric (to be called $g$-quasi metric) such that the induced generalized topology may fail to form a topology. We show that $g$-quasi metrizability is a $g$-topologically invariant property of generalized topological spaces. Extending metric product and uniform continuity for $g$-quasi metric spaces, we note that a $g$-quasi metric may fail to be uniformly continuous in the extended sense unlike usual metric. Finally, we extend the study of completeness, Lebesgue property and weak $G$-completeness for $g$-quasi metric spaces.

Abstract:We consider two natural topologies on the space $S(X\times Y,Z)$ of all separately continuous functions defined on the product of two topological spaces $X$ and $Y$ and ranged into a topological or metric space $X$. These topologies are the cross-open topology and the cross-uniform topology. We show that these topologies coincides if $X$ and $Y$ are pseudocompacts and $Z$ is a metric space. We prove that a compact space $K$ embeds into $S(X\times Y,Z)$ for infinite compacts $X$, $Y$ and a metrizable space $Z\supseteq\mathbb{R}$ if and only if the weight of $K$ is less than the sharp cellularity of both spaces $X$ and $Y$.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish some connections between partial metric spaces and domain theory, and give a characterization of stable partially metrizable d-spaces. First, the concept of S-partial metrics on posets is introduced. Then it is demonstrated that the open ball topology is coarser than the Scott topology in an S-partial metric space, and that the partially metrizable d -space is exactly the DS-partial metric space. In addition, some conditions are provided to ensure that the open-ball topology and the Scott topology coincide in an S-partial metric space. Moreover, we prove that, for an S-partial metric space (X,≤,p) , (X,Op(X)) is sober iff the set of all limit points of every self-convergent sequence is directed. Finally, we propose the notion of DS-valuation space and obtain the result that there is a bijection between stable DS-partial metric spaces and DS-valuation spaces, thereby giving the characterization of stable partially metrizable d-spaces.

Abstract:By constructing a submanifold Q of some product manifold and a set of ideal generators for some ideal in the ring of exterior differential forms on Q;and by making use of the main works in [4],we proved that the ideal is d-closed.Thus it determines a 3-dimensional integral submanifold S,and thereout we give a unique and constructive proof for the metric characterizations of a sort of minimal surfaces in space forms,therein the proof for the bundle maps also applies to general case,and it also makes up the defect of the corresponding part in [3].

Abstract:We construct a distance on the moduli space of symplectic toric manifolds of dimension four. Then we study some basic topological properties of this space, in particular, connectedness, compactness and completeness. The construction of the distance is related to the DuistermaatHeckman measure and the Hausdorff metric. While the moduli space, its topology and metric, may be constructed in any dimension, the tools we use in the proofs are four-dimensional, and hence so is our main result.

Abstract:Connectedness, path connectedness, and uniform connectedness are well-known concepts. In the traditional presentation of these concepts there is a substantial difference between connectedness and the other two notions, namely connectedness is defined as the absence of disconnectedness, while path connectedness and uniform connectedness are defined in terms of connecting paths and connecting chains, respectively. In compact metric spaces uniform connectedness and connectedness are well-known to coincide, thus the apparent conceptual difference between the two notions disappears. Connectedness in topological spaces can also be defined in terms of chains governed by open coverings in a manner that is more reminiscent of path connectedness. We present a unifying metric formalism for connectedness, which encompasses both connectedness of topological spaces and uniform connectedness of uniform spaces, and which further extends to a hierarchy of notions of connectedness.

Abstract:In recent decades, topology has come to play an increasing role in some geometric aspects of Banach space theory. The class of so-called <math>w⁎</math>-locally relatively compact sets was introduced recently by Fonf, Pallares, Troyanski and the author, and were found to be a useful topological tool in the theory of isomorphic smoothness and polyhedrality in Banach spaces. We develop the topological theory of these sets and present some Banach space applications.

Abstract:Galatius and Randal-Williams defined a topology on the set of closed submanifolds of ${\mathbb R}^n$. B\"okstedt and Madsen proved that a $C^1$-version of this topology is metrizable by showing that it is regular and second countable. Using that the scanning map of a topological sheaf on manifolds is an embedding, we give an explicit metric to the space considered by B\"okstedt and Madsen. Then, we compare this topology with the Fell topology and we use the Hausdorff distance to give another metric to the space of Galatius and Randal-Williams.

Abstract:We study Graev ultra-metrics which were introduced by Gao. We show that the free non-archimedean balanced topological group defined over an ultra-metric space is metrizable by a Graev ultra-metric. We prove that the Graev ultra-metric has a maximal property. Using this property, among others, we show that the Graev ultra-metric associated with an ultra-metric space $(X,d)$ with diameter$\leq 1$ coincides with the ultra-metric $\hat{d}$ of Savchenko and Zarichnyi.

Then a topology $t$ on $X$ is said to be completely useful if every upper semicontinuous linear (total) preorder $\precsim$ on $X$ can be represented by an upper semicontinuous real-valued order preserving function.
