Abstract:Further geometry and topology for pseudo-holomorphic curves in complex Grassmannians Gn(CN) are studied. Some curvature pinching theorems for pseudo-holomorphic curves with constant Kahler angles in G(m)(C-N) are obtained, so that the corresponding results for pseudo-holomorphic curves in complex projective spaces are generalized.
Polygonal surfaces in pseudo-hyperbolic spaces

Abstract:A polygonal surface in the pseudo-hyperbolic space H^(2,n) is a complete maximal surface bounded by a lightlike polygon in the Einstein universe Ein^(1,n) with finitely many vertices. In this article, we give several characterizations of them. Polygonal surfaces are characterized by finiteness of their total curvature and by asymptotic flatness. They have parabolic type and polynomial quartic differential. Our result relies on a comparison between three ideal boundaries associated with a maximal surface, corresponding to three distinct distances naturally defined on the maximal surface.

Abstract:We prove that the pseudoisotopy stable range for manifolds of dimension 2n can be no better than ( 2 n - 2 ) . In order to do so, we define new characteristic classes for block bundles, extending our earlier work with Ebert, and prove their non-triviality. We also explain how similar methods show that Top ( 2 n ) / O ( 2 n ) is rationally ( 4 n - 5 ) -connected.

Abstract:We prove that in the moduli space Md of degree d2 rational maps, any hyperbolic component in the disconnectedness locus and of Cantor circle type is a finite quotient of R4d-4-nxTn, where n is determined by dynamics. The proof uses some ideas from Riemann surface theory (Abel's Theorem), dynamical system and algebraic topology.
Pseudo-trisections of four-manifolds with boundary

Abstract:We introduce the concept of pseudo-trisections of smooth oriented compact 4-manifolds with boundary. The main feature of pseudo-trisections is that they have lower complexity than relative trisections for given 4-manifolds. We prove existence and uniqueness of pseudo-trisections, and further establish a one-to-one correspondence between pseudo-trisections and their diagrammatic representations. We next introduce the concept of pseudo-bridge trisections of neatly embedded surfaces in smooth oriented compact 4-manifolds. We develop a diagrammatic theory of pseudo-bridge trisections and provide examples of computations of invariants of neatly embedded surfaces in 4-manifolds using said diagrams.

Abstract:A gap in the proof prevents us to show that surfaces with constant mean curvature closed to 1/2 in H2 X R and having boundary with curvature greater than one, contained in a horizontal section P of H2 X R are topological disks, provided they are contained in one of the two halfspaces determined by P. This is the analogue in H2 X R of a result in R3 by A. Ros and H. Rosenberg [13, Theorem 2].

Topological invariants of 3-dimensional manifold with boundary by using crossed module

Abstract:J.H.C. Whitehead introduced the concept of crossed modules in the early 20th century. These crossed modules are crucial for algebraic models of 2-type homotopy, which involve connected spaces with no higher than second-degree homotopy groups. They consist of two groups and certain relations between them, with known connections to 2-groups. By employing crossed modules, we can develop invariants for closed 3-dimensional and 4-dimensional manifolds. The validity of these invariants was established in a paper authored by F.Girelli, H.Pfeiffer, and E.M.Popescu([4]). Essentially, these invariants involve counting correct colors over the triangulation of a closed manifold. Interestingly, I've discovered that these invariants can also be applied to compact 3-dimensional manifolds with boundaries. Therefore, in this paper, I intend to demonstrate how these invariants can be utilized for compact 3-dimensional manifolds with boundaries, including the complements of knots.

Abstract:We characterize hyperbolic metrics on compact triangulated surfaces with boundary using a variational principle. As a consequence, a new parameterization of the Teichmüller space of a compact surface with boundary is produced. In the new parameterization, the Teichmüller space becomes an explicit open convex polytope. Our results can be considered as a generalization of the simplicial coordinate of Penner [P1], [P2] for hyperbolic metrics with cusp ends to the case of surfaces with geodesic boundary. It is conjectured that the Weil-Petersson symplectic form can be expressed explicitly in terms of the new coordinate.

Abstract:We consider subvarieties $N$ of $\mathcal{M}_{g,n}$, the moduli space of genus $g$ Riemann surfaces with $n$ marked points, that are totally geodesic with respect to the Teichmüller metric. The Deligne-Mumford boundary of $\mathcal{M}_{g,n}$ decomposes into strata, each of which is essentially a product of lower complexity moduli spaces -- in such spaces there is a natural notion of totally geodesic. We show that the boundary locus of $N$ in any such stratum is itself totally geodesic. Furthermore, we prove that each such boundary locus decomposes into prime pieces, and for each such piece the projection to each factor is locally isometric in an appropriate sense.

Abstract:We study topological systems with both a chiral and a spatial symmetry which result in an additional spatial chiral symmetry. We distinguish the topologically nontrivial states according to the chiral symmetries protecting them and study several models in 1D and 3D systems. The perturbations breaking the spatial symmetry can break only one of the two chiral symmetries while the perturbations preserving the spatial symmetry always break or preserve both of them. In 3D systems, besides the 3D symmetries, the topologically nontrivial boundary modes may also be protected by the hidden lower dimensional symmetries. We then figure out the corresponding topological invariants and connect them with the 3D invariants.

Abstract:We study the partition functions of topologically twisted 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ gauge theories on a hemisphere spacetime with boundary $HS^2 \times S^1$. We show that the partition function may be localised to either the Higgs branch or the Coulomb branch where the contributions to the path integral are vortex or monopole configurations respectively. Turning to $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetry, we consider partition functions for exceptional Dirichlet boundary conditions that yield a complete set of `IR holomorphic blocks'. We demonstrate that these correspond to vertex functions: equivariant Euler characteristics of quasimap moduli spaces. In this context, we explore the geometric interpretation of both the Higgs and Coulomb branch localisation schemes in terms of the enumerative geometry of quasimaps and discuss the action of mirror symmetry.

Abstract:We describe a general method for constructing Heisenberg uniqueness pairs $(\Gamma,\Lambda)$ in the euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ based on the study of boundary value problems for partial differential equations. As a result, we show, for instance, that any pair made of the boundary $\Gamma$ of a bounded convex set $\Omega$ and a sphere $\Lambda$ is an Heisenberg uniqueness pair if and only if the square of the radius of $\Lambda$ is not an eigenvalue of the Laplacian on $\Omega$. The main ingredients for the proofs are the Paley-Wiener theorem, the uniqueness of a solution to a homogeneous Dirichlet or initial boundary value problem, the continuity of single layer potentials, and some complex analysis in $\mathbb{C}^{n}$. Denjoy's theorem on topological conjugacy of circle diffeomorphisms with irrational rotation numbers is also useful.

Abstract:A hyperbolic 0-metric on a surface with boundary is a hyperbolic metric on its interior, exhibiting the boundary behavior of the standard metric on the Poincaré disk. Consider the infinite-dimensional Teichmüller spaces of hyperbolic 0-metrics on oriented surfaces with boundary, up to diffeomorphisms fixing the boundary and homotopic to the identity. We show that these spaces have natural symplectic structures, depending only on the choice of an invariant metric on sl(2,R). We prove that these Teichmüller spaces are Hamiltonian Virasoro spaces for the action of the universal cover of the group of diffeomorphisms of the boundary. We give an explicit formula for the Hill potential on the boundary defining the moment map. Furthermore, using Fenchel-Nielsen parameters we prove a Wolpert formula for the symplectic form, leading to global Darboux coordinates on the Teichmüller space.

Abstract: In this work we study the tau-function $Z^{1D}$ of the KP hierarchy specified by the topological 1D gravity. As an application, we present two types of algorithms to compute the orbifold Euler characteristics of $\overline{\mathcal M}_{g,n}$. The first is to use (fat or thin) topological recursion formulas emerging from the Virasoro constraints for $Z^{1D}$; and the second is to use a formula for the connected $n$-point functions of a KP tau-function in terms of its affine coordinates on the Sato Grassmannian. This is a sequel to an earlier work.
