Abstract:
Although titanium (Ti) and its alloys are the most widely used biomedical implant materials in the world today due to their satisfactory mechanical strength, high corrosion resistance and neglecting cellular toxicity, implant failures still occur because of poor osseointegration and bacterial infection. Thus in this paper we synthesized an new Ce doped MIL metal-orgainc framework derivant and used it as an anti-bacterial and anti-corrosion additive coating on titanium with hydroxyapatite by electrochemical in situ deposition technique. The experimental results demonstrated that the MOF-hydroxyapatite composite coating can increase the corrosion resistance and antibacterial property of titanium without destroying its original biocompatibility.
