Abstract:Some new existence theorems for homoclinic solutions are obtained for a class of second-order discrete p -Laplacian systems by critical point theory, a homoclinic orbit is obtained as a limit of 2 kT -periodic solutions of a certain sequence of the second-order difference systems. A completely new and effective way is provided for dealing with the existence of solutions for discrete p -Laplacian systems, which is different from the previous study and generalize the results. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification : 34C37; 58E05; 70H05.

Abstract:Bulletin of Mathematical Sciences, Ahead of Print. Due to the essential difficulty of establishing an appropriate variational framework on a suitable working space, how to apply the critical point theory for showing the existence and multiplicity of periodic solutions of continuous-time difference equations remains a completely open problem. New ideas including gluing arguments are introduced in this work to overcome such a difficulty. This enables us to employ the critical point theory to construct uncountably many periodic solutions for a class of superlinear continuous-time difference equations without assuming symmetry properties on the nonlinear terms. The obtained solutions are piecewise differentiable in some cases, distinguishing continuous-time difference equations from ordinary differential equations qualitatively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time in the literature that the critical point theory has been used for such types of problems. Our work may open an avenue for studying discrete nonlinear systems with continuous time via the critical point theory.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the variational principle and the existence of periodic solutions for a new class of second-order ordinary p-Laplacian systems. The variational principle is given by making use of two methods. We obtain three existence theorems of periodic solutions to this problem on various sufficient conditions on the potential function F(t,x) or nonlinearity ∇F(t,x). Four examples are presented to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our results.

By applying a generalized linking theorem of strongly indefinite functionals, we obtain the existence of multiple semiclassical solutions for the above system.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a two-point boundary value problem involving p -Laplacian and its relationship with the associated discrete ones. Specifically, by using discrete variational methods, we first obtain a sequence of positive solutions for the associated discrete two-point boundary value problems corresponding to different step lengths. Then, utilizing the sequence of positive solutions, we construct a sequence of continuous functions which can be shown to be precompact. Finally, we prove that the limit function of the convergent subsequence is the desired positive solution. In particular, our result covers the cases when the nonlinear function in the equation is -superlinear and asymptotically -linear.

Abstract:Abstract The aim of this article is to study nonlinear problem driven by the p ( t ) p\left(t) -Laplacian with nonsmooth potential. We establish the existence of homoclinic solutions by using variational principle for locally Lipschitz functions and the properties of the generalized Lebesgue-Sobolev space under two cases of the nonsmooth potential: periodic and nonperiodic, respectively. The resulting problem engages two major difficulties: first, due to the appearance of the variable exponent, commonly known methods and techniques for studying constant exponent equations fail in the setting of problems involving variable exponents. Another difficulty we must overcome is verifying the link geometry and certifying boundedness of the Palais-Smale sequence. To our best knowledge, our theorems appear to be the first such result about homoclinic solution for differential inclusion system involving the p ( t ) p\left(t) -Laplacian.

Abstract:Based on properties of Green's function and the some conditions of $ f(t, u) $, we found a minimal and a maximal positive solution by the method of sequence approximation. Moreover, based on the properties of Green's function and fixed point index theorem, the existence of multiple positive solutions for a singular $ p $-Laplacian fractional differential equation with infinite-point boundary conditions was obtained and, at last, an example was given to demonstrate the validity of our main results.

Abstract:This paper deals with the stability of linear periodic difference delay systems, where the value at time $t$ of a solution is a linear combination with periodic coefficients of its values at finitely many delayed instants $t-\tau_1,\ldots,t-\tau_N$. We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for exponential stability of such systems when the coefficients have Hölder-continuous derivative, that generalizes the one obtained for difference delay systems with constant coefficients by Henry and Hale in the 1970s. This condition may be construed as analyticity, in a half plane, of the (operator valued) harmonic transfer function of an associated linear control system.
