Abstract:An overview of worldwide research on offshore renewable energy generation is provided in this paper.Most of the research focuses on single offshore renewable energy exploitation and utilization,which results in low energy efficiency and poor reliability of the power generation device. To solve these problems,a hybrid offshore renewable energy generation system,with a combination of offshore wind,wave,and tidal power generations,is proposed. Meanwhile,the research framework and the technological route are discussed,including the construction of the hybrid power generation system,the system modeling,and coordinate control of the hybrid offshore renewable energy generation system.

Abstract:Clean energy has become an important component of the transition to a sustainable future, of which offshore wind power is a promising clean energy source. However, there are still gaps in the spatiotemporal data of OWTs with global coverage, precise location, freely available, and with long time series of installation time information. This study proposes a cost-effective method to investigate the global distribution and installation time of offshore wind turbines (OWTs) using remote sensing data and the GEE cloud computing platform. The process includes two parts, the first is OWTs extraction through synthetic SAR images using an adaptive Z-score threshold and morphological operations. The second part is installation time detection through synthetic Landsat optical images using LandTrendr algorithm. A total of 12,412 OWTs have been identified within the offshore Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) of countries worldwide, with 5915 in Europe, 6490 in Asia, and only 7 in the United States. Most OWTs are situated in nearshore areas and were constructed in a regular pattern. Installation dates of existing OWTs worldwide reveal an exponential growth trend since the 21st century, with Europe leading the way and Asia catching up rapidly, building two-thirds of its turbines after 2019. This information can be used for subsequent studies on the effectiveness of wind energy in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the potential for future development and expansion of wind energy infrastructure, as well as to inform policies aimed at promoting the sustainability of the wind energy industry.

Advancements in offshore wind technology have led to larger, more efficient turbines, innovative foundation designs, and enhanced grid integration strategies, driving down costs and expanding the geographical reach of offshore wind projects. However, the continued growth of offshore wind energy faces several challenges, including technical, environmental, regulatory, and socio-economic considerations. recent advancements in offshore wind energy technology, highlighting key innovations and their implications for sustainable power generation. Additionally, it discusses the challenges and opportunities associated with the further development and deployment of offshore wind projects, including grid infrastructure limitations, environmental impact mitigation, regulatory frameworks, and stakeholder engagement. Abstract:Compared with offshore wind farm with AC collection system, offshore wind farm with pure DC system, including DC transmission and collection systems, eliminates heavy and bulky AC power frequency transformers and the needs for multiple power rectifiers, inverters and voltage boost. It shows some brilliant merits, such as smaller size and lighter weight of equipment, higher efficiency and lower cost. This paper firstly summarizes the topologies, control strategies, advantages and existing problems of offshore DC wind farm. Then a detailed discussion is made about high voltage, large capacity and high gain DC/DC converters, which are regarded as the key equipment of offshore DC wind farms. The advantages and disadvantages of different DC/DC converter topologies and their application prospects in offshore DC wind farm are pointed out. Then, the research situation of offshore DC wind farm fault protection is presented. Finally, this paper affirms the prospect of offshore DC wind farm application. The conclusion has value for utilization of ocean energy such as offshore wind.

Abstract:In recent years, due to the global energy crisis, increasingly more countries have recognized the importance of developing clean energy. Offshore wind energy, as a basic form of clean energy, has become one of the current research priorities. In the future, offshore wind farms will be developed in deep and distant sea areas. In these areas, there is a new trend of floating offshore wind platforms replacing fixed wind power platforms, due to their low cost, ease of installation, and independence from the water depth. However, the stability of offshore floating platforms is poor and their power fluctuations are significant; furthermore, they are more prone to failure because of sea wind, waves, and currents. This paper summarizes and analyzes the current research progress and critical technical issues of offshore floating wind power generation, such as stability control technology, integrated wind storage technology, wind power energy management, and long-distance transmission of electricity for floating wind power generation at sea. Finally, future research directions for key offshore wind power technologies are presented.

Abstract:Offshore wind is renewable, clean, and widely distributed. Therefore, the utilization of offshore wind power can potentially satisfy the increasing energy demand and circumvent the dependence on fossil energy. Thus, offshore wind power is an edge tool for achieving sustainable energy development because of its potential in large-scale energy supply and its important role in reducing environmental pollution as well as carbon emission brought by fossil energy. The worldwide development of offshore wind power has entered the era of large-scale research and commercial application. It displays a trend of rapid development, continuous technological breakthroughs, and high-speed market growth. This article systematically introduces the structural components and technical characteristics of offshore wind power. Moreover, the current developmental status of offshore wind power is summarized. By reviewing the current development and application status of offshore wind power technology worldwide, large wind turbines and fixed and floating offshore wind power technologies are analyzed. Additionally, the development of the offshore wind energy market is overviewed. The policy condition and key aspects such as the construction, operation, and maintenance of offshore wind power plants are also summarized. Finally, the prospective challenges and development trends of offshore wind power and its significance in achieving sustainable society development are proposed. We consider that the article can provide reference and inspiration for researchers and developers dedicated to offshore wind power.

Abstract:Wind energy conversion system, aiming to convert mechanical energy of air flow into electrical energy has been widely concerned in recent decades. According to the installation sites, the wind energy conversion system can be divided into land‐based wind conversion system and offshore wind energy conversion (OWEC) system. Compared to land‐based wind energy technology, although OWEC started later, it has attracted more attentions due to its significant advantages in sufficient wind energy, low wind shear, high power output and low land occupancy rate. In this paper, the principle of wind energy conversion and the development status of offshore wind power in the world are briefly introduced at first. And then, the advantages and disadvantages of several offshore wind energy device (OWED), such as horizontal axis OWED, vertical axis OWED and cross axis OWED are compared. Subsequently, several major constraints, such as complex marine environment, deep‐sea power transmission and expensive cost of equipment installation faced by offshore wind conversion technology are presented and comprehensively analysed. Finally, based on the summary and analysis of some emerging technologies and the current situation of offshore wind energy utilization, the development trend of offshore wind power is envisioned. In the future, it is expected to witness multi‐energy complementary, key component optimization and intelligent control strategy for smooth energy generation of offshore wind power systems.

Abstract:Offshore wind turbine is a novel approach in the field of wind energy technology. With the rapid development of coastal wind farms, it is the trend to move them outward to deep-water district. However, the cost of construction rises significantly with the increase in water depth. Floating wind turbine is one of the efficient methods to solve this problem. The early history, current status and cutting-edge improvements of overseas offshore floating wind turbine as well as the shortcomings shall be presented. The concept designs, international standards, fully coupled model simulations and hydrodynamic experiments will be illustrated and discussed together with the development of the theory and the related software modules. Thus a novel researching method and concept shall be presented to provide reference for future researches.

Abstract:As international efforts to address climate change grow, an increasing number of countries and companies have put forward a clear “net zero” goal through accelerated renewable-energy development. As a renewable energy source, offshore wind energy has received particular attention from many countries and is a highly active research area. However, the design of offshore wind turbine structures faces challenges due to the large and complex design parameter space as well as different operational requirements and environmental conditions. Advanced optimization technology must be employed to address these challenges. Using an efficient optimization algorithm, it is possible to obtain optimized parameters for offshore wind turbine structures, balancing energy generation performance and the life of the floating wind turbine. This paper presents a review of the types and fundamental principles of several critical optimization technologies along with their application in the design process, with a focus on offshore wind turbine structures. It concludes with a discussion of the future prospects of optimization technology in offshore wind research.

Abstract:Renewables today are the first-choice option for a modern power system. Wind and solar are now competitive with conventional sources and commanded a high percentage of investments in renewable power. The cost of wind turbines has fallen by nearly 1/3rd since 2009 and that of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules by 80%. The number of countries that held auctions to deploy renewables has increased (from 6 in 2005 to 67 countries in 2017) with a very large increase in global investment. Global cumulative installed wind power capacity had more than 645 GW by the first quarter of 2019. The paper reviews the recent developments in wind energy conversion systems technology and discusses future expectations. Offshore wind turbines are the most possible technology for future utilization and of this, floating wind turbines are to dominate with larger scales could reach three times the present introduced scales. This is to provide more than 20% of the global demand in 2030. The paper presents several case studies for each case and highlights the technological aspects that support each development. The most important design advancements are also discussed with a forecast of the future design expectation that will affect the wind power generation program.

Abstract:The government of China has committed to bring carbon dioxide emissions to a peak before 2030 and to achieve carbon neutral before 2060 to tackle climate change. Renewable energy plays a key role in the energy strategy of China in order to achieve the targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring energy security. China has abundant offshore wind resource, distributed along its 18,000 km long coastline and 6000 islands. The first offshore wind farm of China was built in 2008 and put into operation in 2010. It provided green energy for 2010 Shanghai World Expo and then launched an era of offshore wind power development in the coastal areas adjacent to highly populated regions. Over the last decades, many thousands wind turbines have been installed, with an accumulated installed capacity of over 13 GW. This paper reviews the development of offshore wind power and foundation technology used for offshore wind turbines in China using published information, data, and web sources. An ongoing offshore wind farm project is taken as an example to describe the foundation technologies involved.

Abstract:The paper reviews characteristics and the developing state of abroad offshore wind farm briefly, and the key technology related to offshore wind farm. The optimization configuration and assessment of abroad offshore wind farm, and rational distribution assess, offshore wind farm electric transmission technology, system insert with operating, wind farm MES and wind turbine base, etc., are studied to put forward corresponding implementation and solution. The conditions for research and development, and demonstration of its application are suggested. Through studying key offshore wind farm technology, we can make offshore wind farm system optimization designing techniques reach the most advanced levels internationally, train teams with innovation ability, which are engaged in designing and running wind farm to manage wind-power electricity generation and wind farm design . All of these are of strategic, economic, social and academic value.

Abstract:Accelerating advancement of a late-model electrical power system with new energy resources as the principal part is one of main measures to attain double-carbon goal. The international situation and policies have further promoted the rapid development of wind power. Because of massive reserves of wind energy resources in the sea area with its huge potential, development plan for wind power is gradually inclined to offshore wind power. In the article, offshore wind power's advancement process and the typical topological structure of offshore wind farm access systems are described, the offshore wind farms' problems existing in operation are classified and summarized, and the causes of the problems are analyzed from the perspective of wind turbine components or systems. And the directions worthy of further study are prospected, which can give support to the maintenance and overhaul for offshore wind turbines.
