Abstract:This study applies the binomial, k-binomial, rising k-binomial and falling k-binomial transforms to the modified k-Fibonacci-like sequence. Also, the Binet formulas and generating functions of the above mentioned four transforms are newly found by the recurrence relations.

Abstract:In this study, we present a generalized higher-order delta operator with the co-efficient of falling factorial and its inverse, both of which allow us to get more generalized k(ε)-Fibonacci sequences along with their sums, a few theorems, and some intriguing conclusions regarding the sum of more generalized terms of k(ε)-Fibonacci sequences with falling factorial. In addition, the n-fold Fibonacci ratio and a few applications in life sciences and crystal growth were presented in the work. In addition, suitable examples are presented using MATLAB to show our results.

Abstract:Let k be a positive integer and p be a prime.We give some congruences involving the binomial coefficients((k+1)p-a)p-a),(kp-1p-a) with 1 ≤ a ≤ p-1 and （kp+p-1/2b±p-1/2±b),(kp-1p-1/2±b) with 0 ≤ b ≤ p-1/2.In particular,we get a generalization of Morley's congruence.Meanwhile,some congruences about the summation of ((k+1)p-ap-a) are obtained.

Abstract:We explore new types of binomial sums with Fibonacci and Lucas numbers. The binomial coefficients under consideration are $\frac{n}{n+k}\binom{n+k}{n-k}$ and $\frac{k}{n+k}\binom{n+k}{n-k}$. The identities are derived by relating the underlying sums to Chebyshev polynomials. Finally, some combinatorial sums are studied and a connection to a recent paper by Chu and Guo from 2022 is derived.

History and Overview

Abstract:We have studied several generalizations of Fibonacci sequences as the sequences with arbitrary initial values, the addition of two and more Fibonacci subsequences and Fibonacci polynomials with arbitrary bases. For Fibonacci numbers with congruent indices we derived general formula in terms of generalized Fibonacci polynomials and Lucas numbers. By extending Binet formula to arbitrary real numbers we constructed Binet-Fibonacci curve in complex plane. For positive numbers the curve is oscillating with exponentially vanishing amplitude, while for negative numbers it becomes Binet Fibonacci spiral. Comparison with the nautilus curve shows quite similar behavior. Areas under the curve and curvature characteristics are calculated, as well as the asymptotic of relative characteristics. Asymptotically for n going to infinity the region become, infinitely wide with infinitesimally small height so that the area has finite value $A_{\infty}=\frac{2}{5 \pi} ln(\varphi)$.

Abstract:We derive a new Fibonacci identity. This single identity subsumes important known identities such as those of Catalan, Ruggles, Halton and others, as well as standard general identities found in the books by Vajda, Koshy and others. We also derive several binomial and ordinary summation identities arising from this identity; in particular we obtain a generalization of Halton's general Fibonacci identity.

Combinatorial Interpretations of $q$-Fibonacci Numbers and Their Binomial Analogues

Abstract:The Fibonomial coefficients are well-known analogues of the classical binomial coefficients. In 2009, Sagan and Savage introduced a combinatorial interpretation for these coefficients, based on tiling a rectangular grid. More recently, Bergeron extended this work by providing a similar interpretation for the q-Fibonomial coefficients, using weighted tilings of a rectangular grid. Inspired by Bennett's model, Bergeron also developed a staircase tiling model for the q-Fibonomial coefficients. While Bergeron's proofs for the rectangular grid model relied on induction, and the staircase model on bijective correspondences with the rectangular grid model, these approaches lacked deeper structural insights. In this paper, we propose a novel model for the q-Fibonacci numbers that generalizes Bergeron's approach. This new model not only enables us to prove several identities related to q-Fibonacci numbers but also provides a non-bijective proof for the staircase model of the q-Fibonomial coefficients, offering greater structural clarity. Additionally, we demonstrate new identities involving the q-Fibonomial coefficients using this refined rectangular grid model, further enhancing the combinatorial understanding of these mathematical objects.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss a method that utilizes the recurrence of $A_{n,k}$ to solve summations of the form $\sum_{k=n_0}^{n} A_{n,k}$. It is observed that by repeating the procedure, the upper bound of summation is reduced and tilts toward the lower bound. This method of summation is mostly suitable for combinatorial sequences such as binomial coefficients, Stirling numbers of both kinds, etc. After the main method is displayed, some examples are illustrated. Some useful identities about Stirling and r-Stirling numbers are obtained. Finally, two transforms called rising and falling factorial transforms which turn the basis of power polynomials into factorial basis are derived. These transforms verify and simplify the results obtained in the examples section. Also, these transforms describe the relationship between fractional derivatives (or fractional integrals) and falling factorial (or rising factorial) by its series expansion.

Abstract:The Fibonacci polynomials are defined recursively as $f_{n}(x)=xf_{n-1}(x)+f_{n-2}(x)$, where $f_0(x) = 0$ and $f_1(x)= 1$. We generalize these polynomials to an arbitrary number of variables with the $r$-Fibonacci polynomial. We extend several well-known results such as the explicit Binet formula and a Cassini-like identity, and use these to prove that the $r$-Fibonacci polynomials are irreducible over $\mathbb{C}$ for $n \geq r \geq 3$. Additionally, we derive an explicit sum formula and a generalized generating function. Using these results, we establish connections to ordinary Bell polynomials, exponential Bell polynomials, Fubini numbers, and integer and set partitions.

Abstract:In this paper, we deduce several new identities on infinite series with denominators of summands containing both binomial coefficients and linear parts. For example, we evaluate the sums $$\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{x_0^k}{(2k-1)\binom{3k}k},\ \sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{x_0^k}{(3k+1)\binom{3k}k} \ \text{and}\ \sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{x_0^k}{(3k+2)\binom{3k}k}$$ for any $x_0\in(-27/4,27/4)$. For any $1<n\le 85/4$, we obtain the following fast converging series for $\log n$: $$\begin{aligned}&\sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{(2(n^2+6n+1)^2k+n^4+30n^2+1)(n-1)^{4k}}{(4k+1)(-n)^k(n+1)^{2k}\binom{4k}{2k}}\\&\qquad=8n(n+1)^2-2n(n^2-1)\log n.\end{aligned}$$ We also prove that $$\sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{153965k^2-96459k+22786}{(-8)^k\binom{4k}k}=\frac{64}5(1634-45\log2).$$ In addition, we pose many new conjectural series identities involving binomial coefficients; for example, we conjecture that $$\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{\binom{2k}k^3}{4096^k}\bigg(9(42k+5)\sum_{j=0}^{k-1}\frac1{(2j+1)^4}+\frac{25}{(2k+1)^3}\bigg)=\frac 56\pi^3.$$

Curious congruences for Fibonacci numbers

Abstract:In this paper we establish some sophisticated congruences involving central binomial coefficients and Fibonacci numbers. For example, we show that if $p\not=2,5$ is a prime then $$\sum_{k=0}^{p-1}F_{2k}\binom{2k}{k}=(-1)^{[p/5]}(1-(p/5)) (mod p^2)$$ and $$\sum_{k=0}^{p-1}F_{2k+1}\binom{2k}k=(-1)^{[p/5]}(p/5) (mod p^2).$$ We also obtain similar results for some other second-order recurrences and raise several conjectures.

Abstract:In this paper we obtain some congruences involving central binomial coefficients and Lucas sequences. For example, we show that if p>5 is a prime then $\sum_{k=0}^{p-1}F_k*binom(2k,k)/12^k$ is congruent to 0,1,-1 modulo p according as p=1,4 (mod 5), p=13,17 (mod 30), and p=7,23 (mod 30) respectively, where {F_n} is the Fibonacci sequence. Abstract:We prove an important property of the binomial transform: it converts multiplication by the discrete variable into a certain difference operator. We also consider the case of dividing by the discrete variable. The properties presented here are used to compute various binomial transform formulas involving harmonic numbers, skew-harmonic numbers, Fibonacci numbers, and Stirling numbers of the second kind. Several new identities are proved and some known results are given new short proofs.

Abstract:In this article, we introduce and study a new integer sequence referred to as the higher order Mersenne sequence. The proposed sequence is analogous to the higher order Fibonacci numbers and closely associated with the Mersenne numbers. Here, we discuss various algebraic properties such as Binet's formula, Catalan's identity, d'Ocagne's identity, generating functions, finite and binomial sums, etc. of this new sequence, and some inter-relations with Mersenne and Jacobsthal numbers. Moreover, we study the sequence generated from the binomial transforms of the higher order Mersenne numbers and present the recurrence relation and algebraic properties of them. Lastly, we give matrix generators and tridiagonal matrix representation for higher order Mersenne numbers.
