Abstract:We prove that the Rochberg spaces associated to the complex interpolation pair , defined by the 2-convexification of the Tsirelson space and its dual, are weak Hilbert spaces. This generalizes the results obtained in Suárez de la Fuente (J Inst Math Jussieu 19:855–867, 2020).

Abstract:We show, by applying discrete weighted norm inequalities and the Rubio de Francia algorithm, that the discrete Hilbert transform and discrete Riesz potential are bounded on variable $\ell^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb{Z})$ spaces whenever the discrete Hardy-Littlewood maximal is bounded on $\ell^{p'(\cdot)}(\mathbb{Z})$. We also obtain vector-valued inequalities for the discrete fractional maximal operator.

Abstract:We show that every Banach space containing isomorphic copies of $c_0$ can be equivalently renormed so that every nonempty relatively weakly open subset of its unit ball has diameter 2 and, however, its unit ball still contains convex combinations of slices with diameter arbitrarily small, which improves in a optimal way the known results about the size of this kind of subsets in Banach spaces.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{H}^{n}$ be the Heisenberg group. For $0 \leq \alpha < Q=2n+2$ and $N \in \mathbb{N}$ we consider exponent functions $p(\cdot) : \mathbb{H}^{n} \to (0, +\infty)$, which satisfies Hölder conditions, such that $\frac{Q}{Q+N} < p_{-} \leq p(\cdot) \leq p_{+} < \frac{Q}{\alpha}$. In this article we prove the $H^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb{H}^{n}) \to L^{q(\cdot)}(\mathbb{H}^{n})$ and $H^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb{H}^{n}) \to H^{q(\cdot)}(\mathbb{H}^{n})$ boundedness of convolution operators with kernels of type $(\alpha, N)$ on $\mathbb{H}^{n}$, where $\frac{1}{q(\cdot)} = \frac{1}{p(\cdot)} - \frac{\alpha}{Q}$. In particular, the Riesz potential on $\mathbb{H}^{n}$ satisfies such estimates.

Uniform homeomorphisms between spheres of unitarily invariant ideals

Abstract:The classical Mazur map is a uniform homeomorphism between the unit spheres of $L_p$ spaces, and the version for noncommutative $L_p$ spaces has the same property. Odell and Schlumprecht used two types of generalized Mazur maps to prove that the unit sphere of a Banach space $X$ with an unconditional basis is uniformly homeomorphic to the unit sphere of a Hilbert space if and only if $X$ does not contain $\ell_\infty^n$'s uniformly. We prove a noncommutative version of this result, yielding uniform homeomorphisms between spheres of unitarily invariant ideals, and along the way we study noncommutative versions of the aforementioned generalized Mazur maps: one based on the $p$-convexification procedure, and one based on the minimization of quantum relative entropy. The main result provides new examples of Banach spaces whose unit spheres are uniformly homeomorphic to the unit sphere of a Hilbert space (in fact, spaces with the property (H) of Kasparov and Yu).

Abstract:We prove weak Poincare inequalities on domains which are inverse images of open sets in Wiener spaces under continuous functions of Brownian rough paths. The result is applicable to Dirichlet forms on loop groups and connected open subsets of path spaces over compact Riemannian manifolds.

Abstract:We give a sufficient condition for a pair of Banach spaces $(X,Y)$ to have the following property: whenever $W_1 \subseteq X$ and $W_2 \subseteq Y$ are sets such that $\{x\otimes y: \, x\in W_1, \, y\in W_2\}$ is weakly precompact in the projective tensor product $X \widehat{\otimes}_\pi Y$, then either $W_1$ or $W_2$ is relatively norm compact. For instance, such a property holds for the pair $(\ell_p,\ell_q)$ if $1<p,q<\infty$ satisfy $1/p+1/q\geq 1$. Other examples are given that allow us to provide alternative proofs to some results on multiplication operators due to Saksman and Tylli. We also revisit, with more direct proofs, some known results about the embeddability of $\ell_1$ into $X \widehat{\otimes}_\pi Y$ for arbitrary Banach spaces $X$ and $Y$, in connection with the compactness of all operators from $X$ to $Y^*$.

Abstract:M. Daher gave conditions so that the spheres of the spaces in the interior of a complex interpolation scale are uniformly homeomorphic. We look for sufficient conditions for the validity of this result and related ones on the extremes of the scale, with applications to uniform homeomorphism between spheres of Banach spaces and the sphere of $\ell_2$.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that every pair of absolutely compatible Hilbert space effects are coexistent and exhibit a partial orthogonality property. We introduce the notion of partially ortho-coexistence. We generalize absolute compatibility to obtain more examples of partially ortho-coexistent pairs and introduce the notion of generalized compatibility. In the case of $\mathbb{M}_2$, we discuss a geometric behaviour of the generalized compatibility.

Abstract:We present a simple proof of some interpolation inequalities between Hölder and Lebesgue's spaces. As an example, to demonstrate the simplicity of their applications to nonlinear PDE, we give also a simple proof of an a-priory estimate in a smooth Hölder class for a solution to some quasilinear parabolic initial boundary value problem.

Abstract:We study fractional variants of the quasi-norms introduced by Brezis, Van Schaftingen, and Yung in the study of the Sobolev space W ˙ 1 , p . The resulting spaces are identified as a special class of real interpolation spaces of Sobolev-Slobodeckiĭ spaces. We establish the equivalence between Fourier analytic definitions and definitions via difference operators acting on measurable functions. We prove various new results on embeddings and non-embeddings, and give applications to harmonic and caloric extensions. For suitable wavelet bases we obtain a characterization of the approximation spaces for best n-term approximation from a wavelet basis via smoothness conditions on the function; this extends a classical result by DeVore, Jawerth and Popov.

Abstract:We study reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces introduced as ranges of generalized Cesàro-Hardy operators, in one real variable and in one complex variable. Such spaces can be seen as formed by absolutely continuous functions on the positive half-line (or paths of infinite length) of fractional order, in the real case. A theorem of Paley-Wiener type is given which connects the real setting with the complex one. These spaces are related with fractional operations in the context of integrated Brownian processes. We give estimates of the norms of the corresponding reproducing kernels.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a new general $K$-closedness result in the context of real interpolation of noncommutative Lebesgue spaces involving filtrations. As an application, we derive $K$-closedness results for various classes of noncommutative martingale Hardy spaces, addressing a problem raised by Randrianantoanina. The proof of this general result adapts Bourgain's approach to the real interpolation of classical Hardy spaces on the disk within the framework of noncommutative martingales.

On a weak topology for Hadamard spaces

Abstract:We investigate whether the existing notion of weak sequential convergence in Hadamard spaces can be induced by a topology. We provide an affirmative answer in what we call weakly proper Hadamard spaces. Several results from functional analysis are extended to the setting of Hadamard spaces. Our weak topology coincides with the usual one in the case of a Hilbert space. Finally, we compare our topology with other existing notions of weak topologies. Bibliography: 24 titles.

Abstract:We prove compactness of the embeddings in Sobolev spaces for fractional super and sub harmonic functions with radial symmetry. The main tool is a pointwise decay for radially symmetric functions belonging to a function space defined by finite homogeneous Sobolev norm together with finite norm of the Riesz potentials. As a byproduct we prove also existence of maximizers for the interpolation inequalities in Sobolev spaces for radially symmetric fractional super and sub harmonic functions.

Abstract:In this paper we deal with a scale of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces $H^{(n)}_2$, $n\ge 0$, which are linear subspaces of the classical Hilbertian Hardy space on the right-hand half-plane $\mathbb{C}^+$. They are obtained as ranges of the Laplace transform in extended versions of the Paley-Wiener theorem which involve absolutely continuous functions of higher degree. An explicit integral formula is given for the reproducing kernel $K_{z,n}$ of $H^{(n)}_2$, from which we can find the estimate $\Vert K_{z,n}\Vert\sim\vert z\vert^{-1/2}$ for $z\in\mathbb{C}^+$. Then composition operators $C_\varphi :H_2^{(n)} \to H_2^{(n)}$, $C_\varphi f=f\circ \varphi $, on these spaces are discussed, giving some necessary and some sufficient conditions for analytic maps $\varphi: \mathbb{C}^+\to \mathbb{C}^+$ to induce bounded composition operators.

Abstract:The main result of the paper: Given any $\varepsilon>0$, every locally finite subset of $\ell_2$ admits a $(1+\varepsilon)$-bilipschitz embedding into an arbitrary infinite-dimensional Banach space. The result is based on two results which are of independent interest: (1) A direct sum of two finite-dimensional Euclidean spaces contains a sub-sum of a controlled dimension which is $\varepsilon$-close to a direct sum with respect to a $1$-unconditional basis in a two-dimensional space. (2) For any finite-dimensional Banach space $Y$ and its direct sum $X$ with itself with respect to a $1$-unconditional basis in a two-dimensional space, there exists a $(1+\varepsilon)$-bilipschitz embedding of $Y$ into $X$ which on a small ball coincides with the identity map onto the first summand and on a complement of a large ball coincides with the identity map onto the second summand.
