Abstract:We provide a careful treatment of the weak Hardy spaces Hp,∞(Rn) for all indices 0 < p < ∞. The study of these spaces presents differences from the study of the Hardy-Lorentz spaces H(R) for q <∞, due to the lack of a good dense subspace of them. We obtain several properties of weak Hardy spaces and we discuss a new square function characterization for them, obtained by He [16].

Abstract:This is an expository-survey on weak stability of bounded linear operators acting on normed spaces in general and, in particular, on Hilbert spaces. The paper gives a comprehensive account of the problem of weak operator stability, containing a few new results and some unanswered questions. It also gives an updated review of the literature on the weak stability of operators over the past sixty years, including present-day research trends. It is verified that the majority of the weak stability literature is concentrated on Hilbert-space operators. We discuss why this preference occurs and also why the weak stability of unitary operators is central to the Hilbert-space stability problem.

Weak$^{\ast }$ Hypertopologies with Application to Genericity of Convex Sets

Abstract:We propose a new class of hypertopologies, called here weak$^{\ast }$ hypertopologies, on the dual space $\mathcal{X}^{\ast }$ of a real or complex topological vector space $\mathcal{X}$. The most well-studied and well-known hypertopology is the one associated with the Hausdorff metric for closed sets in a complete metric space. Therefore, we study in detail its corresponding weak$^{\ast }$ hypertopology, constructed from the Hausdorff distance on the field (i.e. $\mathbb{R}$ or $\mathbb{C}$) of the vector space $\mathcal{X}$ and named here the weak$^{\ast }$-Hausdorff hypertopology. It has not been considered so far and we show that it can have very interesting mathematical connections with other mathematical fields, in particular with mathematical logics. We explicitly demonstrate that weak$^{\ast }$ hypertopologies are very useful and natural structures\ by using again the weak$^{\ast }$-Hausdorff hypertopology in order to study generic convex weak$^{\ast }$-compact sets in great generality. We show that convex weak$^{\ast }$-compact sets have generically weak$^{\ast }$-dense set of extreme points in infinite dimensions. An extension of the well-known Straszewicz theorem to Gateaux-differentiability (non necessarily Banach) spaces is also proven in the scope of this application.

Abstract:We investigate whether the existing notion of weak sequential convergence in Hadamard spaces can be induced by a topology. We provide an affirmative answer in what we call weakly proper Hadamard spaces. Several results from functional analysis are extended to the setting of Hadamard spaces. Our weak topology coincides with the usual one in the case of a Hilbert space. Finally, we compare our topology with other existing notions of weak topologies. Bibliography: 24 titles.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal H$ be the Drury-Arveson or Dirichlet space of the unit ball of $\mathbb C^d$. The weak product $\mathcal H\odot\mathcal H$ of $\mathcal H$ is the collection of all functions $h$ that can be written as $h=\sum_{n=1}^\infty f_n g_n$, where $\sum_{n=1}^\infty \|f_n\|\|g_n\|<\infty$. We show that $\mathcal H\odot\mathcal H$ is contained in the Smirnov class of $\mathcal H$, i.e. every function in $\mathcal H\odot\mathcal H$ is a quotient of two multipliers of $\mathcal H$, where the function in the denominator can be chosen to be cyclic in $\mathcal H$. As a consequence we show that the map $\mathcal N \to clos_{\mathcal H\odot\mathcal H} \mathcal N$ establishes a 1-1 and onto correspondence between the multiplier invariant subspaces of $\mathcal H$ and of $\mathcal H\odot\mathcal H$. The results hold for many weighted Besov spaces $\mathcal H$ in the unit ball of $\mathbb C^d$ provided the reproducing kernel has the complete Pick property. One of our main technical lemmas states that for weighted Besov spaces $\mathcal H$ that satisfy what we call the multiplier inclusion condition any bounded column multiplication operator $\mathcal H \to \oplus_{n=1}^\infty \mathcal H$ induces a bounded row multiplication operator $\oplus_{n=1}^\infty \mathcal H \to \mathcal H$. For the Drury-Arveson space $H^2_d$ this leads to an alternate proof of the characterization of interpolating sequences in terms of weak separation and Carleson measure conditions.

Abstract:General expository paper concerning topics in Hilbert spaces, spectral theory, and harmonic analysis. The preliminary section includes basic Banach algebra and Hilbert space theory with a digression on Riesz bases. The second and third sections are focused on deriving the spectral theorem for Hilbert spaces in finite and arbitrary dimension, respectively. The fourth and fifth sections present applications of the general theory: first to finite abelian groups, then to the space $L^2(S^1,\mu)$.

Abstract:In this paper we deal with a scale of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces $H^{(n)}_2$, $n\ge 0$, which are linear subspaces of the classical Hilbertian Hardy space on the right-hand half-plane $\mathbb{C}^+$. They are obtained as ranges of the Laplace transform in extended versions of the Paley-Wiener theorem which involve absolutely continuous functions of higher degree. An explicit integral formula is given for the reproducing kernel $K_{z,n}$ of $H^{(n)}_2$, from which we can find the estimate $\Vert K_{z,n}\Vert\sim\vert z\vert^{-1/2}$ for $z\in\mathbb{C}^+$. Then composition operators $C_\varphi :H_2^{(n)} \to H_2^{(n)}$, $C_\varphi f=f\circ \varphi $, on these spaces are discussed, giving some necessary and some sufficient conditions for analytic maps $\varphi: \mathbb{C}^+\to \mathbb{C}^+$ to induce bounded composition operators.

Abstract:Let $p\in[1,\infty]$. Being motivated by weakly $p$-convergent and weak$^\ast$ $p$-convergent operators between Banach spaces introduced by Fourie and Zeekoei, we introduce and study the classes of weakly $p$-convergent and weak$^\ast$ $p$-convergent operators between arbitrary locally convex spaces. Relationships between these classes of operators are given, and we show that they have ideal properties. Numerous characterizations of weakly $p$-convergent and weak$^\ast$ $p$-convergent operators are given.

Abstract:Homogeneous spaces are de Branges' Hilbert spaces of entire functions with the property that certain weighted rescaling transforms induce isometries of the space into itself. A classical example of a homogeneous space is the Paley-Wiener space of entire functions with exponential type at most a being square integrable on the real axis. Other examples occur in the theory of the Bessel equation. Being homogeneous is a strong property, and one can describe all homogeneous spaces, their structure Hamiltonians, and the measures associated with chains of such spaces, explicitly in terms of powers, logarithms, and confluent hypergeometric functions. The theory of homogeneous spaces was in large parts settled by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://L.de" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> Branges in the early 1960's. However, in his work some connections and explicit formulae are not given, some results are stated without a proof, and last but not least a mistake occurs which seemingly remained unnoticed up to the day. In this paper we give a detailed account on homogeneous spaces. We provide explicit proofs for all formulae and relations between the mentioned objects, and correct the mentioned mistake.

Abstract:Continuing with the study of Approximately ultrahomogeneous and Fraïssé Banach spaces introduced by V. Ferenczi, J. López-Abad, B. Mbombo and S. Todorcevic, we define formally weaker and in some aspects more natural properties of Banach spaces which we call Almost ultrahomogeneity and the Almost Fraïssé Property. We obtain relations between these different homogeneity properties of a space $E$ and relate them to certain pseudometrics on the class $\mathrm{Age}(E)$ of finite dimensional subspaces of $E$. We prove that ultrapowers of an almost Fraïssé Banach space are ultrahomogeneous. We also study two properties called finitely isometrically extensible and almost finitely isometrically extensible, respectively, and prove that approximately ultrahomogeneous Banach spaces are finitely isometrically extensible.

On the Weak Contractibility of the Space of Pure States

Abstract:We prove that the space $\mathscr{P}(\mathfrak{A})$ of pure states of a nonelementary, simple, separable, real rank zero $C^*$-algebra $\mathfrak{A}$ has trivial homotopy groups of all orders when $\mathscr{P}(\mathfrak{A})$ is equipped with the weak* topology. The convex-valued and finite-dimensional selection theorems of Michael are used to deform a family of pure states via the action of a homotopy of unitaries so that the entire family evaluates to one on a given projection $P \in \mathfrak{A}$. Then, the excision theorem of Akemann, Anderson, and Pedersen is used to iterate this deformation for a sequence of projections in $\mathfrak{A}$ excising a base point of the family of pure states, thereby contracting the family to the base point. Finally, we compare our weak contractibility result to the spaces of pure states of commutative $C^*$-algebras and rational rotation algebras, and compute the homotopy groups of the latter in terms of the homotopy groups of spheres.

Abstract:Let $X\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$ be a ball quasi-Banach function space on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$, $WX\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$ be the weak ball quasi-Banach function space on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$, $H_{X}\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$ be the Hardy space associated with $X\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$ and $WH_{X}\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$ be the weak Hardy space associated with $X\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$. In this paper, we obtain the boundedness of the Bochner--Riesz means and the maximal Bochner--Riesz means from $H_{X}\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$ to $WH_{X}\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$ or $WX\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$, which includes the critical case. Moreover, we apply these results to several examples of ball quasi-Banach function spaces, namely, weighted Lebesgue spaces, Herz spaces, Lorentz spaces, variable Lebesgue spaces and Morrey spaces. This shows that all the results obtained in this article are of wide applications, and more applications of these results are predictable.
