Abstract:
Based on demands of avoiding adsorption of particulate contaminants on optic and pledging an ultra-high cleanliness inside frequency multiplying device (FMD), cleaning technique combining air knives is subtly selected to form an antifouling barrier to protect surface of optic. Airflow analysis is one of prerequisites and necessities to comprehend mechanism of cleaning realization either at atmospheric pressure where the whole device operates during laser target shooting or under vacuum which is an approach to restrain ultraviolet damage on optic. Firstly, it is determined through theoretical calculations that airflow regime under low pressure vacuum is a kind of compressible continuous flow. Subsequently, by means of simulation investigation and experimental research methods on variation regularity of air curtain barrier formed by air knife, it is exhibited that the attenuation rates of air speed are rather drastic at the beginning and the airflow purged out by air blade will eventually gather under both pressure states. However, air curtains formed vary in morphology representing fascinating results that air curtain evolves into "camel peak shape" under atmospheric pressure and "half-moon pattern" under low vacuum. Finally, design sizes of air diversion ducts on metal frame are reasonably optimized to reach suitable diversion ratios of airflow. And the optimum design that the widths of the ducts under vacuum are about twice as long as ones at atmospheric pressure demonstrates that there truly are intense demands on research of unknown and severity under conditions of vacuum.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper primarily focuses on the research of cleaning technology for the internal environment of Frequency Multiplying Devices (FMD) in Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) systems. Specifically, the research aims to address the following two key issues: 1. **How to effectively use Air Knife technology to form a clean barrier on the surface of optical components under atmospheric pressure and low vacuum conditions?** - The paper determines through theoretical calculations that the fluid state inside the frequency multiplying device under low vacuum conditions belongs to compressible continuous flow. - It studies the morphological changes of the air curtain formed by the air knife under atmospheric pressure and low vacuum conditions, finding that the air curtain shape differs in the two environments: "camel hump shape" under atmospheric pressure and "crescent shape" under low vacuum. - Through simulation studies and experimental methods, the paper analyzes the attenuation rate of the air curtain, discovering that it decays sharply in the initial stage, and the airflow eventually converges towards the center under both pressure conditions. 2. **How to optimize the design dimensions of the air diversion duct to achieve effective pollution control?** - For the air diversion duct on the metal frame, the study investigates the optimal design dimensions under different pressure conditions. - It finds that the width of the air diversion duct under low vacuum conditions is approximately twice that under atmospheric pressure, indicating a stronger need for research on the unknowns and harshness under vacuum conditions. In summary, the goal of this research is to establish a reasonable air knife protection system to protect the surface of optical components and remove contaminants inside the frequency multiplying device under different pressure environments. By combining numerical simulations and experimental methods, the paper discusses in detail the characteristics of the air curtain and its protective effect on the surface of optical components, and proposes corresponding optimization design schemes.
