Abstract:There has been renewed interest in the idea of antigravity -- that matter and antimatter repel gravitationally - in lieu of the recent beautiful ALPHA-g result for the free-fall acceleration of antihydrogen of $a_{\bar{H}}=(0.75\pm 0.13~({\rm stat.+syst.})\pm 0.16~({\rm simulation}))g$. Precision tests of the Weak Equivalence Principle (WEP) have shown that binding energy (atomic, nuclear, and nucleonic) acts like matter under gravity. Whereas the contribution of atomic binding energy to the mass of antihydrogen is negligible, the majority of the mass of the antiproton comes from the gluonic binding energy. Hence, in terms of antigravity, the antiproton is mostly composed of matter and so even if the antimatter content of the antiproton is repelled by the Earth, there would still be a net attraction of the antihydrogen to the Earth because of its dominant matter content. Using recent Lattice QCD results showing that around two-thirds of the mass of the proton (and, hence, from the $CPT$ Invariance of QCD, of the antiproton) is due to gluons, I find that in the antigravity scenario the free-fall acceleration of antihydrogen would be $a_{\bar{H}}=(0.33^{+0.10}_{-0.06})g$. The fact that antinucleons are more matter than antimatter (in the gravitational sense) leads to quite different cosmological consequences than the naive antigravity scenario (where antistars are wholly antimatter). For example, it follows naturally that there is a matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe right from the instant of the Big Bang -- but not a baryon-antibaryon asymmetry. Again, this stems simply from the fact that antibaryons are more matter than antimatter.

Abstract:The essence of special relativity is hiding in the equal existence of particle and antiparticle, which can be expressed by two discrete symmetries within one inertial frame --- the invariance under the (newly defined) space-time inversion (${\bf x}\to -{\bf x},t\to -t$), or equivalently, the invariance under a mass inversion ($m\to -m$). The problems discussed are: the evolution of the $CPT$ invariance into a basic postulate, an unique solution to the original puzzle in Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox, the reduced Dirac equation for hydrogenlike atoms, and the negative mass paradox leading to the prediction of antigravity between matter and antimatter. {\bf Keywords}: Special relativity, Reduced Dirac Equation, Antiparticle, Antigravity

Abstract:Einstein's general theory of relativity from 1915 1 remains the most successful description of gravitation. From the 1919 solar eclipse 2 to the observation of gravitational waves 3 , the theory has passed many crucial experimental tests. However, the evolving concepts of dark matter and dark energy illustrate that there is much to be learned about the gravitating content of the universe. Singularities in the general theory of relativity and the lack of a quantum theory of gravity suggest that our picture is incomplete. It is thus prudent to explore gravity in exotic physical systems. Antimatter was unknown to Einstein in 1915. Dirac's theory 4 appeared in 1928; the positron was observed 5 in 1932. There has since been much speculation about gravity and antimatter. The theoretical consensus is that any laboratory mass must be attracted 6 by the Earth, although some authors have considered the cosmological consequences if antimatter should be repelled by matter 7,8,9,10 . In the general theory of relativity, the weak equivalence principle (WEP) requires that all masses react identically to gravity, independent of their internal structure. Here we show that antihydrogen atoms, released from magnetic confinement in the ALPHA-g apparatus, behave in a way consistent with gravitational attraction to the Earth. Repulsive 'antigravity' is ruled out in this case. This experiment paves the way for precision studies of the magnitude of the gravitational acceleration between anti-atoms and the Earth to test the WEP.

Abstract:The origin of the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe has been a long unsolved problem in cosmology and particle physics.Although it is challenging to solve this problem,our understanding on it becomes deeper with the improvement of the theoretical and experimental study.Firstly,we introduce the backgrounds of the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe and show the three necessary conditions to solve the problem.Then,we review the current status of our understanding on this problem with emphasis on those scenarios which can be tested in the experiments,including the electroweak baryogenesis,leptogenesis and gravitational baryogenesis.We hope the experiments in future can unravel the true baryogenesis scenario,which can explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe.

Abstract:If space, time and mass-energy expand outward from the Big Bang along the time axis equally in the (+) and (-) directions, then time is symmetric by Weyl's definition. In the Feynman-Stueckelberg Interpretation, antimatter is identical to matter but moves backward in time. This paper argues this interpretation is physically real, leading to the universe containing dark matter with mass accumulations similar to ordinary matte. As time expands, in both directions away from the origin, quantum uncertainty allows a brief, decreasing leakage of mass between (+) and (-) universes. Matter leaking from (-) to (+) time moves forward in time, producing preponderance of matter in (+) time. Antimatter leakage from (+) time to (-) time in the same way produces antimatter preponderance in the (-) time universe. The remaining opposite partner particles left by the leakage, (antimatter and matter respectively) proceeding outward in antitime and time respectively, after many annihilations also increase the two preponderances in the two universes. The anti-universe should be observable by gravitational lensing, predicting "MACHOS" of approximately stellar mass, and multiple micro-lensing of quasars. Non-existence of primordial antimatter of Z>1, and a large variation in the quantities of dark matter associated with different individual galaxies are predicted. A symmetry is provided for Nodland and Ralston's observed maximum axis of rotation of polarization of galactic synchrotron radiation. A new solution of the horizon problem at times close to the origin is indicated. Collapse of the wave function and time's arrow are explained and non-locality and instantaneity of quantum interaction required. Extension of the hypothesis to six dimensions gives an 83.3% dark matter share of the universe.

Abstract:In some baryogenesis scenarios, the universe acquires a non-vanishing average baryonic charge, but the baryon to photon ratio is not spatially constant and can be even negative in some space regions. This allows for existence of lumps of antimatter in our neighborhood and the possibility that very compact antimatter objects make a part of cosmological dark matter. Here I discuss the peculiar signatures which may be observed in a near future.

Abstract:We investigate the matter-antimatter properties of elementary systems, modeled as free quantum fields, within the global structure of de Sitter spacetime. By leveraging the distinctive causal and analytic properties of de Sitter spacetime, we propose that matter-antimatter asymmetry could emerge as an observer-dependent effect shaped by time orientation within a local causal patch, rather than as a fundamental property of de Sitter Universe itself. This kinematic perspective complements, rather than replaces, standard dynamical processes (such as baryon number violation, $\texttt{CP}$ violation, and nonequilibrium processes) that fulfill Sakharov's criteria. Within this framework, the limited presence of antimatter in our predominantly matter-filled Universe, specifically within the causal patch of de Sitter spacetime under consideration, may arise from these mechanisms, though through pathways distinct from conventional interpretations.

Abstract:We offer a survey of the matter-antimatter evolution within the primordial Universe. While the origin of the tiny matter-antimatter asymmetry has remained one of the big questions in modern cosmology, antimatter itself has played a large role for much of the Universe's early history. In our study of the evolution of the Universe we adopt the position of the standard model $\Lambda$-CDM Universe implementing the known baryonic asymmetry. We present the composition of the Universe across its temperature history while emphasizing the epochs where antimatter content is essential to our understanding. Special topics we address include the heavy quarks in quark-gluon plasma (QGP), the creation of matter from QGP, the free-streaming of the neutrinos, the vanishing of the muons, the magnetism in the electron-positron cosmos, and a better understanding of the environment of the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) producing the light elements. We suggest but do not explore further that the methods used in exploring the early Universe may also provide new insights in the study of exotic stellar cores, magnetars, as well as gamma-ray burst (GRB) events. We describe future investigations required in pushing known physics to its extremes in the unique laboratory of the matter-antimatter early Universe.

Abstract:Based on experimental discovery that the mass-square of neutrino is negative, a quantum equation for superluminal neutrino is proposed in comparison with Dirac equation and Dirac equation with imaginary mass. A virtual particle may also be viewed as superluminal one. Both the basic symmetry of space-time inversion and the maximum violation of space-inversion symmetry are emphasized.

Abstract:We explore the hypothesis that the abundant presence of relativistic antimatter (positrons) in the primordial universe is the source of the intergalactic magnetic fields we observe in the universe today. We evaluate both Landau diamagnetic and magnetic dipole moment paramagnetic properties of the very dense primordial electron-positron $e^{+}e^{-}$-plasma, and obtain in quantitative terms the relatively small magnitude of the $e^{+}e^{-}$ magnetic moment polarization asymmetry required to produce a consistent self-magnetization in the universe.

Do We Live in an Antigravity Universe?

Abstract:In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2401.10954" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2401.10954">arXiv:2401.10954</a> I showed that, in the context of antigravity (i.e., matter and antimatter repel gravitationally), quark/lepton mass-energy is matter and antiquark/antilepton mass-energy is antimatter while the mass-energy of the intermediate vector bosons (e.g., the photon and $W^+$) also has to be considered matter. One consequence of this is that the antiproton (and, hence, the antineutron) is dominantly composed of matter since some two-thirds of its mass is gluonic. Under this premise I found that the gravitational acceleration of antihydrogen would be $a_{\bar{H}}=(0.33^{+0.10}_{-0.06})g$. This is to be compared to the ALPHA-g result of $a_{\bar{H}}=(0.75\pm 0.13~({\rm stat.+syst.})\pm 0.16~({\rm simulation}))g$. In this article I explore the cosmological implications of this definition of matter and antimatter. This leads to a quite different antigravity universe than previous analyses with, for example, equal amounts of hydrogen and antihydrogen but far fewer antistars than stars. I examine the observations used to extract various parameters of the $\Lambda$CDM model of the universe and show that they are potentially consistent with the characteristics of the antigravity universe. A precise version of antigravity, one which must include General Relativity, is needed to generate a fully consistent, predictive model of the antigravity universe but even without it the antigravity scenario outlined here naturally leads to a rich phenomenology including different acceleration and expansion rates between the early universe and the present, MOND-like galaxy rotation curves, cosmic voids, and more.

Abstract:The existence of antimatter stars in the Galaxy as possible signature for inflationary models with non-homogeneous baryo-synthesis may leave the trace by antimatter cosmic rays as well as by their secondaries (anti-planets and anti-meteorites) diffused bodies in our galactic halo. The anti-meteorite flux may leave its explosive gamma signature by colliding on lunar soil as well as on terrestrial, jovian and solar atmospheres. However the propagation in galaxy and the consequent evaporation in galactic matter gas suppress the lightest (m < 10^(-2)g) anti-meteorites. Anisotropic annihilation of larger anti-meteorites within a narrow mass window, maybe rarely deflected, bounced by the galactic gas disk, escaping detection in our solar system. Nevertheless heaviest anti-meteorites (m > 10^(-1)g up to 10^(6)g) are unable to be deflected by the thin galactic gas surface annihilation; they might hit the Sun (or rarely Jupiter) leading to an explosive gamma event and a spectacular track with a bouncing and even a propelling annihilation on cromosphere and photosphere. Their anti-nuclei annihilation in pions and their final hard gammas showering may be observabe as a "solar flare" at a rate nearly comparable to the observed ones. From their absence we may infer bounds on antimatter-matter ratio near or below 10^(-9) limit: already recorded data in BATSE catalog might be applied.

Antimatter Gravity and the Results of the ALPHA‐g Experiment

Abstract:The recent results of the ALPHA‐g experiment, which show gravitational attraction between antihydrogen atoms and the Earth, seem to undermine the success of repulsive‐gravity models in the cosmological field. Analyzing the theory of CPT gravity, two solutions are found that are consistent with the experimental results, while preserving the large‐scale gravitational repulsion. By combining general relativity and CPT symmetry, the theory of CPT gravity predicts gravitational repulsion between matter and CPT‐transformed matter, i.e., antimatter inhabiting an inverted space‐time. Such repulsive gravity turned out to be an excellent candidate for explaining the accelerated expansion of the Universe, without the need for dark energy. The recent results of the ALPHA‐g experiment, which show gravitational attraction between antihydrogen atoms and the Earth, seem to undermine this success in the cosmological field. Analyzing the above theory, two solutions are found that can be consistent with the experimental results, while preserving the large‐scale gravitational repulsion. The first highlights how repulsive gravity can be the result of the interaction with an inverted space‐time, but occupied by matter and not antimatter, and therefore the antimatter present in the space‐time has no reason to exhibit gravitational repulsion. The second retains the original CPT transformation, resulting in repulsive gravity between matter and antimatter, but with the caveat that antimatter immersed in the space‐time cannot exhibit the PT transformation which is the cause of the repulsion. Finally, it is shown that, in a Newtonian approximation of the geodesic equation , time reversal is not a necessary operation for repulsive gravity, therefore opening the possibility of an expanding cosmos with a single time direction.

Abstract:We know that the generally accepted theories of gravity and quantum mechanics are fundamentally incompatible. Thus, when we try to combine these theories, we must beware of physical pitfalls. Modern theories of quantum gravity are trying to overcome these problems. Any ideas must confront the present agreement with general relativity, but yet be free to wonder about not understood phenomena, such as the dark matter problem and the anomalous spacecraft data which we announce here. This all has led some ``intrepid" theorists to consider a new gravitational regime, that of antimatter. Even more ``daring" experimentalists are attempting, or considering attempting, the measurement of the gravitational force on antimatter, including low-energy antiprotons and, perhaps most enticing, antihydrogen.

Abstract:A discrete quantum gravity model given by a quantum sequential growth process (QSGP) is considered. The QSGP describes the growth of causal sets (causets) one element at a time in discrete steps. It is shown that the set $\pscript$ of causets can be partitioned into three subsets $\pscript = (\rmant)\cup (\rmmix)\cup (\rmmat)$ where $\rmant$ is the set of pure antimatter causets, $\rmmat$ the set of pure matter causets and $\rmmix$ the set of mixed matter-antimatter causets. We observe that there is an asymmetry between $\rmant$ and $\rmmat$ which may explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry of our physical universe. This classification of causets extends to the set of paths $\Omega$ in $\pscript$ to obtain $\Omega =\Omega ^{\rmant}\cup\Omega ^{\rmmix}\cup\Omega ^{\rmmat}$. We introduce a further classification $\Omega ^{\rmmix}=\Omega_{\rmm}^{\rmmix}\cup\Omega_{\rma}^{\rmmix}$ into matter-antimatter parts. Approximate classical probabilities and quantum propensities for these various classifications are considered. Some conjectures and unsolved problems are presented.

Dark Matter Particles with Low Mass (and FTL)

Abstract:From the observed results, we deduced that the mass of the neutrino is about 10^(-1) eV and the mass of the fourth stable elementary particle (delta) is about 10^(0) eV. While neutrino is related to electro-weak field, the fourth stable elementary particle delta is related to gravitation-"strong" field, and some new meta-stable baryons may appear near the TeV region. Therefore, a twofold standard model diagram is proposed, and involves some experiment phenomena: The new meta-stable baryons' decays produce delta particles, which are helpful in explaining the Dijet asymmetry phenomena at LHC of CERN, the different results for the Fermilab's data peak, etc; However, according to the (B-L) invariance, the sterile "neutrino" about the event excess in MiniBooNe is not the fourth neutrino but rather the delta particle; We think that the delta particles are related to the phenomenon about neutrinos FTL, and that anti-neutrinos are faster than neutrinos. FTL is also related to cosmic inflation, singular point disappearance, a finite universe, and abnormal red shift of SN Ia. Besides, the dark matter particles with low mass are helpful in explaining missing solar neutrinos, the CMB angular power spectrum measured by WMAP etc. Some experiments and observations are suggested, especially about the measurement for the speed of gravitational wave c'. c' and c, in physics, represent the limit speeds of moving particles made by different categories of matter with different Lorentz factors. Lorentz transformation is compatible with FTL. This will be helpful to look for new particles.
