Abstract:Lithium-ion batteries have garnered significant attention in the field of new energy technology due to their impressive high energy density characteristics. The lightweight and compact design of batteries has become a critical bottleneck in the development of battery thermal management technology. This paper introduces a compact Battery Liquid Cooling System (BLCS) utilizing tubes with special-shaped fins. Through tailored stepwise optimization strategy, the overall performance of the BLCS is comprehensively enhanced. The primary focus of the study is to optimize parameters affecting energy consumption: flow velocity (V), diameter (D), and contact angle (θ). The research involves parameter calculations using Workbench, yielding 65 sets of results. Subsequently, the Kriging interpolation method is employed to expand the sample of thermal performance data. Following that, the entropy weight-TOPSIS method is applied for multi-objective optimization of energy consumption and heat dissipation. The optimal configuration of V = 0.4 m/s, D = 3 mm, and θ = 75° is determined. Given that not all parts of the fins play a crucial role in heat conduction, this paper creatively introduces a layered defective design of fins, considering 13 schemes based on number of layers (L) and height per layer (H) parameters orthogonally. The entropy-weighted TOPSIS method is employed for multi-objective optimization of compactness and heat dissipation, resulting in the optimal solution: L = 3, H = 7. Under these conditions, BLCS achieves T max  = 29.196 °C, ΔT = 3.753 °C, δ = 0.755, resulting in a significant reduction of 61 g (20.7 %) in the weight of BLCS components (excluding the battery) compared to before the second optimization.
