Abstract:For the LCL filter adoptrd grid-connected inverter,when using weighted-average-current control method,there are the magnitude error and phase error at light load.And the forward feedback from the grid voltage makes the current under the influence of grid voltage.This paper proposes a new current control strategy using weighted-average-current as inner-loop and active/reactive current as out-loop.This method can control the grid current to have high magnitude and phase precision,also it will not be influenced by grid voltage.This paper presents the theoretical analysis and how to realize it.This control method has been experimentally tested on a 5kW grid-connected fuel cell inverter.

Abstract:Grid-tied inverters which only deliver active power to the mains in the sine wave current way are simple to control. However, they cannot improve and control the power quality of the mains. This paper proposes a new kind of grid-tied inverter based on the instantaneous reactive power theory and harmonic detection algorithm. Besides the transmission of normal active current, the new grid-tied inverter can inject appropriate reactive and harmonic currents into the mains according to the quality of the mains. Consequently, the reactive power and harmonic current in the mains can be compensated. Control strategies and harmonic signal detection methods are derived for different operation modes such as the active power transmission mode, the reactive power compensation mode, and the harmonic current filtering mode. Detailed simulation results have verified the validity of the proposed methodology.

Abstract:To meet the requirement of control performance in distributed generation(DG),a robust controller based on error space method is proposed,and applied to the grid-connected inverter.Based on the modern control theory,the system tracking error is considered as the state variable.To make the output error tend to zero is the control of this controller.Compared to the traditional control methods,even in the condition of fluctuation or distortion of grid-voltage,the zero steady-state error to track the sine command can also be guaranteed with robust control,the phase shifting of the output current can be eliminated,and the united power factor can be achieved.The power quality of the mains is improved.A parameter design procedure is then discussed based on theoretical analysis.TMS320F2808 DSP of corporation is used to found the digital control platform.Experimental results of a 5 kW experimental prototype show the validity of the theoretical and simulation analysis.
Improved Model Predictive Direct Power Control of Grid Side Converter in Weak Grid Using Kalman Filter and DSOGI

Abstract:When grid side converter (GSC) is connected to weak grid, the small signal instability can happen due to terminal characteristics of the GSC that are incompatible with the grid impedance. This issue is not of wide concern in previous studies of direct power control (DPC) of GSC. By small signal analysis, it is shown that the impedance characteristic of the conventional direct power control GSC is not compatible with the inductive grid impedance in weak grid due to its constant power load behavior. To solve the problem, instead of feeding the DPC controller with direct measured voltage and current, a Kalman filter (KF) is used to obtain filtered output current and a double second-order generalized integrator (DSOGI) is used to obtain filtered voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC). These strategies change the impedance characteristic of the GSC dramatically and make it suitable to operate in weak grid where SCR is 2, while the rapid power response is preserved. The proposed strategy is verified through simulation and controller hardware in loop (CHIL) tests.

Abstract:A dual mode time-sharing inverter has higher efficiency than other type grid-connected inverter due to only one power stage of it working in high frequency state at any time. In this paper, small signal modeling of this inverter is carried out, which reveals that the control-to-grid current transfer function of this inverter has a right half plane zero at low frequency during the “Boost” operating stage which results in the difficulty in controlling the system. An indirect current control method based on instantaneous power balance is proposed. The right-half plane zero can be eliminated and a satisfactory compensator with enough phase margin and amplitude margin can be obtained with this new control strategy. And it is evaluated through simulation and experimental results of a 1kW prototype.

Abstract:In order to improve the performance of complementary half controlled three phase PWM boost rectifier, an improved control scheme including the current coordinate control and grid voltage oriented control is proposed. The current coordinate control is applied to obtain sinusoidal grid-side input currents and steady DC bus voltages. Grid voltage oriented control is applied to eliminate the impact of grid voltage distortion on grid-side input currents and implement independent control of active and reactive power. The simulation model using the Matlab/simulink was built to validate the availability of the proposed control scheme. The simulation results demonstrate that the low THD of the input current and the steady DC voltage can be obtained even if the grid voltage is distorted with the unbalanced and harmonic component.

Abstract:The variable-step incremental conductance method with the introduction of a power prediction link is proposed to address the problem of low light energy utilization and large distortion of grid-connected current in two-stage photovoltaic grid-connected inverters. This control method can optimize the positive dynamic speed and tracking accuracy of the maximum power point tracking control (MPPT). The coupling relationship under the dq synchronous rotation coordinate system and the influence are analyzed depending on the mathematical model of inverter-side photovoltaic grid connection. The grid-connected control adopts a voltage and current double closed-loop control method. A simulation model of the two-stage three-phase photovoltaic grid-connected inverter is constructed and studied in Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show that the control method has fast response speed and small distortion of grid connected current waveform, which demonstrates the correctness of the control method.

Abstract:Aiming at the problem of the unbalance between the load and the power supply in grid,the super-capacitor energy storage system was designed.The two operating modes(charge mode to store energy and discharge mode to release energy) of super-capacitor energy storage system designed were introduced.The bi-directional DC/DC converter operating mode,when super-capacitor energy storage system running in charge mode to store energy,was analyzed,and the closed-loop control parameter was designed to realize the control of the charging process.The experimental results show that through the closed-loop control designed for bi-directional DC/DC converter applied in super-ca-pacitor energy storage system,the charging process of super-capacitor energy storage system to store energy can be effectively controlled.

Abstract:The control of a PWM inverter is affected by variable inductance present in the power line of the grid. This paper presents a new implementation of grid-tied inverter with weighted-average-current feedback control (WAC) and an embedded online technique to determine the grid line impedance. By adding an inter-harmonic voltage periodically in the modulation of the PWM and measuring the current response, it is possible to estimate the load impedance connected to the inverter, and the grid impedance can be obtained by subtracting the low-pass filter from the load impedance. Consequently, current control optimization can be carried out such as rearrangement of poles or zeroes and adjustment of the current loop gains to obtain the desired dynamic response even under changing line conditions. The presented technique can be implemented with the existing sensors and the digital processor of the inverter, provides a low cost and adaptive approach for current control of grid-tied inverters. Simulation on a 5kW grid-tied inverter demonstrates the control method and the impedance measurement.

Abstract:This study presents an improved means of direct power control (DPC) of grid-connected voltage-sourced inverters (GC-VSIs) when the network voltage is unbalanced. The DPC is based on sliding mode control (SMC) approach, which directly regulates the instantaneous active and reactive powers in order to keep the features of DPC without requirement of synchronous coordinate transformation or phase angle tracking of grid voltage. The behaviour of GC-VSIs by the conventional DPC, which takes no negative sequence voltage into consideration, is analysed under unbalanced network conditions. A new power compensation method is proposed for the SMC-based DPC during network unbalance to achieve three selective control targets, that is, obtaining sinusoidal and symmetrical grid current, removing reactive power ripples and cancelling active power ripples. The active and reactive power compensation components are calculated briefly and the proposed three control targets can be achieved, respectively, without the need for extracting negative sequence current components. Simulation and experimental results on a 1 kVA prototype GC-VSI are presented to verify the correctness and validity of the proposed control strategy and power compensation method.

Abstract:Aiming at the Z-source inverter used in the micro-grid and its grid-connected control research, the photovoltaic system was taken as the example. The inverter integrated three functions including MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking), step-up/down DC-side voltage and output grid-connected. In order to overcome the system instability caused by zero point of Z-source net in the right half-plane, the paper proposed nonlinear control method based on differential geometry theoretic, which overcomes the non-minimum phase behavior. When the input condition of the photovoltaic system changes, this control method could make the Z-source inverter DC side output track the MPP rapidly, steadily and little overshoot, and the inverting side output three-phase voltage transmit rapidly and steadily, then improved the quality of grid-connected current. The simulation contrast and experiment result proved the proposed method in the paper is correct and effective.

Abstract:For three-phase microgrid systems in the island mode, unbalanced loads will not only lead to negative sequence circulating currents but also cause voltage unbalance. A voltage control method is presented to compensate negative sequence voltages and to improve the current sharing effects. Firstly an accurate and universal stationary frame equivalent model that suits different controllers in thedq synchronous frame is deduced. Then the overall performance of the closed-loop control system is analyzed based on the equivalent model. Since the proposed voltage controller has two well decoupled control branches to independently control fundamental positive sequence voltages and negative sequence voltages, the design of the virtual impedance can be simplified. Virtual complex impedances are introduced to control the inverter positive- negative sequence output impedance without using positive- negative sequence detection. The fundamental positive sequence power sharing effect can be improved by introducing virtual positive sequence impedances. Voltage drop on the line impedance caused by the negative sequence current can be compensated and the negative sequence circulating current can be restrained by introducing virtual negative sequence impedances. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the control strategy is correct and effective.
An Active Harmonic Grid-Connecting Current Suppression Strategy for Hierarchical Control Based Microgrid

Abstract:Given that the droop controlled inverters based grid-connected microgrid (DCIGC-MG) presents low equivalent output impedance when connecting to the grid, the grid-connecting current (GCC) is distorted easily by the harmonic voltage components at the point of common coupling (PCC), and results in the increase of THDnof GCC. An active harmonic GCC suppression strategy for DCGC-MG based on hierarchical theory was proposed in this paper. Firstly, the voltage error between bus of DCGC-MG and PCC of grid was transferred to dq frame by the Park transformation. Then, an additional compensator consisting of multiple resonant voltage regulators was added into the secondary control to generate the harmonic voltage reference for inverters in the primary level. PI and multiple resonant controllers were adopted as voltage controller in the original primary level to improve the voltage tracking performance of inverter. As a result, the voltage difference between the PCC and system bus decreased, and the GCC is purified. The proposed control strategy not only reduces the steady-state hormonic current injected into the grid by the microgrid, but also suppressed the harmonic inrush currents when the microgrid connects to the distorted grid for protecting inverter. Finally, the simulation and experimental results from scaled-down laboratory prototype have verified the proposed control strategy.
