Abstract:In this paper, we introduce Indigenous semirings and show that they are examples of information algebras. We also attribute a graph to them and discuss their diameters, girths, and clique numbers. Then, we proceed to investigate their algebraic properties (including ideal theory). We also characterize units and idempotent elements of formal power series over Indigenous semirings.

Abstract:Propositional logic serves as a fundamental cornerstone in mathematical logic. This paper delves into a semiring characterization of propositional logic, employing the Gröebner-Shirshov basis theory to furnish an algebraic framework for deduction and proof grounded in atoms of propositional logic. The result is an algebraic approach to proving propositions in propositional logic. To illustrate the effectiveness and constraints of this method, we conclude with several specific examples.

Abstract:The concept of relation algebra unifies many familiar notions from algebra (especially those of systems having “natural” models as groups, Boolean algebras etc.). The fundamental theorem on relation algebras asserts the existence of simple conditions which characterize any given class of relation algebras.The idea of relation algebra is very useful for the study of function and transformation semigroups, which is the central part of the theory of semigroups. It provides a general outlook, permits one to formulate many natural problems, and ensures that these problems possess non-trivial solutions. A number of examples illustrate this point.

Abstract:In this book i treat linear algebra over division ring. A system of linear equations over a division ring has properties similar to properties of a system of linear equations over a field. However, noncommutativity of a product creates a new picture. Matrices allow two products linked by transpose. Biring is algebra which defines on the set two correlated structures of the ring. As in the commutative case, solutions of a system of linear equations build up right or left vector space depending on type of system. We study vector spaces together with the system of linear equations because their properties have a close relationship. As in a commutative case, the group of automorphisms of a vector space has a single transitive representation on a frame manifold. This gives us an opportunity to introduce passive and active representations. Studying a vector space over a division ring uncovers new details in the relationship between passive and active transformations, makes this picture clearer. Considering of twin representations of division ring in Abelian group leads to the concept of D vector space and their linear map. Based on polyadditive map I considered definition of tensor product of rings and tensor product of D vector spaces.

Abstract:A semiring generalises the notion of a ring, replacing the additive abelian group structure with that of a commutative monoid. In this paper, we study a notion positioned between a ring and a semiring -- a semiring whose additive monoid is a commutative inverse semigroup. These inverse semirings include some important classes of semirings, as well as some new motivating examples. We devote particular attention to the inverse semiring of bounded polynomials and argue for their computational significance. We then prove a number of fundamental results about inverse semirings, their modules and their ideals. Parts of the theory show strong similarities with rings, while other parts are akin to the theory of idempotent semirings or distributive lattices. We note in particular that downward-closed submodules are precisely kernels. We end by exploring a connection to the theory of E-unitary inverse semigroups.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate zero-divisor, nilpotent, idempotent, unit, small, and irreducible elements in semiring extensions such as amount, content, and monoid semialgebras. We also introduce new concepts such as the prime avoidance property in semirings, entire-like semirings, semialgebras with Property (A), and also, Armendariz and McCoy semialgebras and we prove some results related to these concepts. For example, we prove that if $B$ is an $S$-semialgebra, then under some conditions, the set of zero-divisors $Z(B)$ of $B$ is the union of the extended maximal primes of $Z(S)$. Finally, we prove a generalization of Eisenstein's irreducibility criterion.

Abstract:For a commutative semiring S, by an S-algebra we mean a commutative semiring A equipped with a homomorphism from S to A. We show that the subvariety of S-algebras determined by the identities 1+2x=1 and x^2=x is closed under non-empty colimits. The (known) closedness of the category of Boolean rings and of the category of distributive lattices under non-empty colimits in the category of commutative semirings both follow from this general statement.

Abstract:The investigation and classification of non-unique factorization phenomena has attracted some interest in recent literature. For finitely generated monoids, S.T. Chapman and P.A. García-Sánchez, together with several co-authors, derived a method to calculate the catenary and tame degree from the monoid of relations. Then, in [1], the algebraic structure of this approach was investigated and the restriction to finitely generated monoids was removed. We now extend these ideas further to the monotone catenary degree and then apply all these results to the explicit computation of arithmetical invariants of semigroup rings. [1] A. The Inverse Semigroup Theory of Elementary Arithmetic

Abstract:We curry the elementary arithmetic operations of addition and multiplication to give monotone injections on N, and describe & study the inverse monoids that arise from also considering their generalised inverses. This leads to well-known classic inverse monoids, as well as a novel inverse monoid (the 'arithmetic inverse monoid' A) that generalises these in a natural number-theoretic manner. Based on this, we interpret classic inverse semigroup theoretic concepts arithmetically, and vice versa. Composition and normal forms within A are based on the Chinese remainder theorem, and a minimal generating set corresponds to all prime-order polycyclic monoids. This then gives a close connection between Nivat & Perot's normal forms for polycyclic monoids, mixed-radix counting systems, and p-adic norms & distances.

Reasoning about distributive laws in a concurrent refinement algebra

Abstract:Distributive laws are important for algebraic reasoning in arithmetic and logic. They are equally important for algebraic reasoning about concurrent programs. In existing theories such as Concurrent Kleene Algebra, only partial correctness is handled, and many of its distributive laws are weak, in the sense that they are only refinements in one direction, rather than equalities. The focus of this paper is on strengthening our theory to support the proof of strong distributive laws that are equalities, and in doing so come up with laws that are quite general. Our concurrent refinement algebra supports total correctness by allowing both finite and infinite behaviours. It supports the rely/guarantee approach of Jones by encoding rely and guarantee conditions as rely and guarantee commands. The strong distributive laws may then be used to distribute rely and guarantee commands over sequential compositions and into (and out of) iterations. For handling data refinement of concurrent programs, strong distributive laws are essential.

Abstract:Semifields are semirings in which every nonzero element has a multiplicative inverse. A rough classification uses the characteristic of the semifield, that is the isomorphism type of the semifield generated by the two neutral elements. For every characteristic, we provide a structure theorem that reduces the classification of semifields to the classification of better-known algebraic structures. Every semifield of characteristic $p$ is actually a field. There is an equivalence between semifields of characteristic one and lattice-ordered groups. Strict semifields of characteristic zero are quotients of cancellative semifields and there is an equivalence between concellative strict semifields and a particular class of partially ordered rings.

Abstract:There has been a growing research interest in exploring rings whose modules are either injective or far from being injective to a specified degree. As is commonly observed in each of such scenarios, rings can be broken as a direct sum of a semisimple Artinian ring and an indecomposable ring having zero or (essential) homogeneous right socle. Although this phenomenon has become increasingly expected and less surprising with every new study, proving it has never become easier, and in most cases, it has been obtained as a result of considerable efforts. This work aims to bring such studies to a common denominator and tries to explain why this phenomenon occurs each time we deal with the same type of problem.

Abstract:The distributive laws of ring theory are fundamental equalities in algebra. However, recently in the study of the Yang-Baxter equation, many algebraic structures with alternative "distributive" laws were defined. In an effort to study these "left distributive" laws and the interaction they entail on the algebraic structures, Brzeziński introduced skew left trusses and left semi-trusses. In particular the class of left semi-trusses is very wide, since it contains all rings, associative algebras and distributive lattices. In this paper, we investigate the subclass of left semi-trusses that behave like the algebraic structures that came up in the study of the Yang-Baxter equation. We study the interaction of the operations and what this interaction entails on their respective semigroups. In particular, we prove that in the finite case the additive structure is a completely regular semigroup. Secondly, we apply our results on a particular instance of a left semi-truss called an almost left semi-brace, introduced by Miccoli to study its algebraic structure. In particular, we show that one can associate a left semi-brace to any almost left semi-brace. Furthermore, we show that the set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation originating from almost left semi-braces arise from this correspondence.

Abstract:A module is said to be distributive (resp., uniserial ) if the submodule lattice of is distributive (resp., is a chain) Any uniserial module is distributive but the ring of integers is a distributive non-uniserial ring as a -module. Direct sums of distributive (resp. uniserial) modules are called semidistributive (resp. serial ) modules. If is a ring with automorphism , then we denote by the skew Laurent series ring with coefficient ring in which addition is naturally defined and multiplication is defined with regard to the relation (for all elements ). For , we obtain the ordinary Laurent series ring . It is known that is a right distributive semilocal ring if and only if is a finite direct product of right uniserial right Artinian rings and for all . In [ 11 ], it is proved that the ring is right serial of and only if is a right serial right Artinian ring. In the both cases, the ring is a right Artinian ring. Abstract:The aim of these notes is to study some of the structural aspects of the ring of arithmetical functions. We prove that this ring is neither Noetherian nor Artinian. Furthermore, we construct various types of prime ideals. We show arithmetic ring has infinite Krull dimension and its associated prime ideal set is nonempty.

Abstract:We discuss elements of a social history of the theory of projective modules over commutative rings. We attempt to study the question: how did the theory of projective modules become one of "mainstream" focus in mathematics? To do this, we begin in what one might call the pre-history of projective modules, describing the mathematical culture into which the notion of projective module was released. These recollections involve four pieces: (a) analyzing aspects of the theory of fiber bundles, as it impinges on algebraic geometry, (b) understanding the rise of homological techniques in algebraic topology, (c) describing the influence of category-theoretic ideas in topology and algebra and (d) revisiting the story of the percolation of sheaf-theoretic ideas through algebraic geometry. We will then argue that it was this unique confluence of mathematical events that allowed projective modules to emerge as objects of central mathematical importance. More precisely, we will first argue that, in the context of social currents of the time, projective modules initially were isolated as objects of purely technical convenience reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities of the creators of the fledgling theory of homological algebra. Only later did they transcend this limited role to become objects of "mainstream importance" due to influence from the theory of algebraic fiber bundles and the theory of sheaves. Along the way, we aim to show how strong personal ties emanating from the Bourbaki movement and its connections in mathematical centers including Paris, Princeton and Chicago were essential to the entrance, propagation and mainstream mathematical acceptance of the theory.
