Abstract:A module is said to be \textsf{distributive} if the lattice of its submodules is distributive. A direct sum of distributive modules is called a \textsf{semidistributive} module. In this paper we consider rings $A$ such that all right $A$-modules are semidistributive.

Abstract:A module is said to be distributive (resp., uniserial ) if the submodule lattice of is distributive (resp., is a chain) Any uniserial module is distributive but the ring of integers is a distributive non-uniserial ring as a -module. Direct sums of distributive (resp. uniserial) modules are called semidistributive (resp. serial ) modules. If is a ring with automorphism , then we denote by the skew Laurent series ring with coefficient ring in which addition is naturally defined and multiplication is defined with regard to the relation (for all elements ). For , we obtain the ordinary Laurent series ring . It is known that is a right distributive semilocal ring if and only if is a finite direct product of right uniserial right Artinian rings and for all . In [ 11 ], it is proved that the ring is right serial of and only if is a right serial right Artinian ring. In the both cases, the ring is a right Artinian ring. The main result of the given paper is Theorem 1.4, where we prove the following assertions. 1. Abstract:<span>Recently, in a series of papers "simple" versions of direct-injective and direct-projective modules have been investigated. These modules are termed as "simple-direct-injective" and "simple-direct-projective," respectively. In this paper, we give a complete characterization of the aforementioned modules over the ring of integers and over semilocal rings. The ring is semilocal if and only if every right module with zero Jacobson radical is simple-direct-projective. The rings whose simple-direct-injective right modules are simple-direct-projective are fully characterized. These are exactly the left perfect right <i>H</i>-rings. The rings whose simple-direct-projective right modules are simple-direct-injective are right max-rings. For a commutative Noetherian ring, we prove that simple-direct-projective modules are simple-direct-injective if and only if simple-direct-injective modules are simple-direct-projective if and only if the ring is Artinian. Various closure properties and some classes of modules that are simple-direct-injective (resp. projective) are given.</span>

Abstract:A solution is given for the word problem for free idempotent distributive semirings. Using this solution the lattice L (ID) of subvarieties of the variety ID of idempotent distributive semirings is determined. It turns out that L (ID) is isomorphic to the direct product of a four-element lattice and a lattice which is itself a subdirect product of four copies of the lattice L (B) of all band varieties. Therefore L (ID) is countably infinite and distributive. Every subvariety of ID is finitely based.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring and M be an R -module. The R -module M is called distributive if for every submodules S , T and U of M , the equality S∩(T+U)=S∩T+S∩U holds true. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for M to be distributive based on injective envelopes. The proof uses Matlis' results on injective modules.

Abstract:It is proved that, for a left hereditary ring, an arbitrary left module has a representation in the form of the direct sum of a stable left module and indecomposable projective left modules (if and only if an arbitrary left module has a representation in the form of the direct sum of a stable left module and a projective left module) if and only if the ring is left perfect and right coherent. In that case, the above-mentioned representations are unique up to isomorphism; the latter representation is also functorial. The essential ingredient in the proofs of the above-mentioned statements is a certain purely categorical result. These statements, in particular, imply that, for any principal ideal domain that is not a field, the fundamental theorem on finitely generated modules over it can not be generalized to the case of all modules. Moreover, with the aid of the above-mentioned categorical approach, we give a new proof of the Zheng-Xu He's result asserting that any module of a ring has a unique up to isomorphism injective-costable decomposition if and only if the ring is left hereditary and left Noetherian. The above-mentioned statements, in particular, imply that if the category of left modules over a left hereditary ring is Krull-Schmidt, then the ring is left Artinian. Yet another criterion for a ring to be left hereditary, left perfect and right coherent (resp. left hereditary left Noetherian) found in the paper requires that the pair $(Stable$ $modules$, $Projective$ $modules)$ (resp. $(Injective$ $Modules, Costable$ $ Modules)$) of module classes be a pre-torsion theory. This implies that the pair $(Stable$ $modules$, $Projective$ $modules)$ is a torsion theory if and only if the ring is left hereditary and the injective envelope of the ring, viewed as a left module over itself, is projective.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the lattice Subf S of full subsemigroups of an inverse semigroup S. Our first main theorem states that for any inverse semigroup S, Subf S is a subdirect product of the lattices of full subsemigroups of its principal factors, so that Subf S is distributive [meet semidistributive, join semidistributive, modular, semimodular] if and only if the lattice of full subsemigroups of each principal factor is. To examine such inverse semigroups, therefore, we need essentially only consider those which are 0-simple. For a 0-simple inverse semigroup S (not a group with zero), we show that in fact each of modularity, meet semidistributivity and join semidistributivity of Subf S is equivalent to distributivity of S, that is, S is the combinatorial Brandt semigroup with exactly two nonzero idempotents and two nonidempotents. About semimodularity, however, we concentrate only on the completely 0-simple case, that is, Brandt semigroups. For a Brandt semigroup S (not a group with zero), semimodularity of Subf S is equivalent to distributivity of Subf S. Finally, we characterize an inverse semigroup S for which Subf S is a chain.
Semiring arising as Lattice of Groupsemirings

Abstract:Much study has been done on semigroups which are unions of groups. There are several ways in which a union of groups can be made into a semigroup in which each of the component groups arises as subgroups of the constructed semigroup. An important class of such unions is a semilattice of groups. Group semirings are semirings $(G,+,\cdot )$ where $(G,\cdot )$ is a group and $(G,+)$ is a left zero semigroup. We consider construction of semirings from classes of group semirings $\{G_\alpha :\alpha\in D \}$ indexed by a distributive lattice $D$. It is shown that if $S=\cup\{G_\alpha \}$ is a strong distributive lattice of group semirings $G_\alpha$ then the multiplicative semigroup $(S,\cdot)$ of the semiring $(S,+,\cdot)$ is a Clifford semigroup and the additive semigroup $(S,+)$ is a left normal band. Further in this case all the groups $G_\alpha $ are mutually isomorphic.

Abstract:Let L be a distributive lattice and M n , q ( L ) (M n ( L ) , resp.) the semigroup (semiring, resp.) of n × q ( n × n , resp.) matrices over L . In this paper, we show that if there is a subdirect embedding from distributive lattice L to the direct product ∏ i = 1 m ‍ L i of distributive lattices L 1 , L 2 , ... , L m , then there will be a corresponding subdirect embedding from the matrix semigroup M n , q ( L ) (semiring M n ( L ) , resp.) to semigroup ∏ i = 1 m ‍ M n , q ( L i ) (semiring ∏ i = 1 m ‍ M n ( L i ) , resp.). Further, it is proved that a matrix over a distributive lattice can be decomposed into the sum of matrices over some of its special subchains. This generalizes and extends the decomposition theorems of matrices over finite distributive lattices, chain semirings, fuzzy semirings, and so forth. Finally, as some applications, we present a method to calculate the indices and periods of the matrices over a distributive lattice and characterize the structures of idempotent and nilpotent matrices over it. We translate the characterizations of idempotent and nilpotent matrices over a distributive lattice into the corresponding ones of the binary Boolean cases, which also generalize the corresponding structures of idempotent and nilpotent matrices over general Boolean algebras, chain semirings, fuzzy semirings, and so forth.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a (possibly noncommutative) ring and let $\mathcal C$ be a class of finitely generated (right) $R$-modules which is closed under finite direct sums, direct summands, and isomorphisms. Then the set $\mathcal V (\mathcal C)$ of isomorphism classes of modules is a commutative semigroup with operation induced by the direct sum. This semigroup encodes all possible information about direct sum decompositions of modules in $\mathcal C$. If the endomorphism ring of each module in $\mathcal C$ is semilocal, then $\mathcal V (\mathcal C)$ is a Krull monoid. Although this fact was observed nearly a decade ago, the focus of study thus far has been on ring- and module-theoretic conditions enforcing that $\mathcal V(\mathcal C)$ is Krull. If $\mathcal V(\mathcal C)$ is Krull, its arithmetic depends only on the class group of $\mathcal V(\mathcal C)$ and the set of classes containing prime divisors. In this paper we provide the first systematic treatment to study the direct-sum decompositions of modules using methods from Factorization Theory of Krull monoids. We do this when $\mathcal C$ is the class of finitely generated torsion-free modules over certain one- and two-dimensional commutative Noetherian local rings.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal C$ be a class of modules over a ring $R$, closed under direct sums over index sets of cardinality $\kappa$ and isomorphisms, and such that the isomorphism classes form a set. The monoid of modules $V(\mathcal C)$ encodes the behavior of finite direct-sum decompositions of modules in $\mathcal C$. We endow $V(\mathcal C)$ with an additional operation reflecting $\kappa$-indexed direct sums, and study the resulting $\kappa$-monoid $V^{\kappa}(\mathcal C)$.

Abstract:There has been a growing research interest in exploring rings whose modules are either injective or far from being injective to a specified degree. As is commonly observed in each of such scenarios, rings can be broken as a direct sum of a semisimple Artinian ring and an indecomposable ring having zero or (essential) homogeneous right socle. Although this phenomenon has become increasingly expected and less surprising with every new study, proving it has never become easier, and in most cases, it has been obtained as a result of considerable efforts. This work aims to bring such studies to a common denominator and tries to explain why this phenomenon occurs each time we deal with the same type of problem.

Abstract:The well-known Schur's Lemma states that the endomorphism ring of a simple module is a division ring. But the converse is not true in general. In this paper we study modules whose endomorphism rings are division rings. We first reduce our consideration to the case of faithful modules with this property. Using the existence of such modules, we obtain results on a new notion which generalizes that of primitive rings. When R is a full or triangular matrix ring over a commutative ring, a structure theorem is proved for an R-module M such that End(R)(M) is a division ring. A number of examples are given to illustrate our results and to motivate further study on this topic.

Abstract:We prove a representation theorem for totally ordered idempotent monoids via a nested sum construction. Using this representation theorem we obtain a characterization of the subdirectly irreducible members of the variety of semilinear idempotent distributive l -monoids and a proof that its lattice of subvarieties is countably infinite. For the variety of commutative idempotent distributive l -monoids we give an explicit description of its lattice of subvarieties and show that each of its subvarieties is finitely axiomatized. Finally we give a characterization of which spans of totally ordered idempotent monoids have an amalgam in the class of totally ordered monoids, showing in particular that the class of totally ordered commutative idempotent monoids has the strong amalgamation property and that various classes of distributive l -monoids do not have the amalgamation property. We also show that exactly seven non-trivial finitely generated subvarieties of the variety of semilinear idempotent distributive l -monoids have the amalgamation property; we are able to determine for all but three of its subvarieties whether they have the amalgamation property or not.

These modules are termed as pure extending modules which is a proper generalisation of extending modules. Examples and counterexamples are given. We study some properties of pure extending modules and characterize regular ring, semisimple ring, local ring and PDS ring in terms of pure extending modules.

Abstract:We study rings whose modules and module homomorphisms display behavior similar to that of sets and their maps. For example, whenever there is an epimorphism A→B , there is a monomorphism B→A (Artinian principal ideal rings (PIR) satisfy this property and its dual for all modules). As a byproduct of this framework, we prove that a ring every factor ring of which cogenerates its cyclic right modules (one-sided version of Kaplansky's dual rings) is right Artinian and right serial. Consequently, R is an Artinian PIR if and only if every factor ring of R cogenerates its finitely generated right modules. These results can be viewed as partial answers to the CF problem, the FGF problem due to Faith and a question of Faith and Menal on strongly Johns rings. Some known results and the above one yield the following: A ring R is a direct sum of right Artinian right chain rings and Artinian PIR's if and only if every factor ring of R cogenerates its (uniform) cyclic right modules (with nonzero socle); so, such rings coincide with the right CES-rings of Jain and Lopez-Pérmouth, rings whose factors are right CF and rings that satisfy the above mentioned property for their cyclic right modules A and B . Finally, a ring is either simple Artinian or a right Artinian right chain ring if and only if one of any two cyclic right modules embeds in the other.

Abstract:A famous result due to I. M. Isaacs states that if a commutative ring $R$ has the property that every prime ideal is principal, then every ideal of $R$ is principal. This motivates ring theorists to study commutative rings for which every ideal is a direct sum of cyclically presented modules. In this paper, we study commutative rings whose ideals are direct sum of cyclically presented modules.

Abstract:In this paper, we study modules having the property that are invariant under some idempotent endomorphisms of its injective envelope. Such modules are called essentially Ï€ -injective. It is shown that (1) M is essentially Ï€ -injective iff for any essentially finite direct summand X 1 of M and any submodule X 2 of M with X1âˆ©X2=0 , there exists a direct summand X 0 of M containing X 2 such that M=X1âŠ•X0 , (2) M is essentially Ï€ -injective iff M is an ef-extending right R -module and for any decomposition M=M1âŠ•M2 with M 1 essentially finite, M 1 and M 2 are relatively injective, (3) if M is essentially Ï€ -injective and R satisfies ACC on right ideals of the form r ( m ), mâˆˆM , then M is a direct sum of uniform submodules. We also describe rings via essentially Ï€ -injective modules. It is shown that R is a semisimple artinian ring iff the direct sum of any two essentially Ï€ -injective right R -modules is essentially Ï€ -injective.

Abstract:In this paper, the concept of iso-DICC modules is introduced and extensively investigated. These modules are the generalization of DICC, iso-Noetherian and iso-Artinian modules. We prove that any direct sum of a projective iso-simple and an iso-DICC module is iso-DICC. Unlike DICC rings, we show that iso-DICC rings don't have finite Goldie dimension, but if R is a semiprime right iso-DICC ring and I is an annihilator ideal of R , then either I or RI has finite Goldie dimension. Furthermore, we investigate the Krull dimension of iso-Noetherian modules and we give an answer to an open problem on this topic. Finally, we generalize some results on semiprime right iso-Artinian rings to a certain class of iso-Artinian modules. We provide sufficient conditions for iso-Artinian modules to have finite Goldie dimension. Also, we show that any semiprime FQS iso-Artinian module, is non- M -singular.
