Abstract:We extend Deuber's theorem on $(m,p,c)$-sets to hold over the multidimensional positive integer lattices. This leads to a multidimensional Rado theorem where we are guaranteed monochromatic multidimensional points in all finite colorings of $\left(\mathbb{Z}^+\right)^d$ where the $i^{\mathrm{th}}$ set of coordinates satisfies the $i^{\mathrm{th}}$ given linear Rado system.

Complex analogues of the Tverberg--Vrećica conjecture and central transversal theorems

Abstract:The Tverberg--Vrećica conjecture is a broad generalization of Tverberg's classical theorem. One of its consequences, the central transversal theorem, extends both the centerpoint theorem and the ham sandwich theorem. In this manuscript, we establish complex analogues of these results where the corresponding transversals are complex affine spaces. The proof of the complex Tverberg--Vrećica conjecture for powers of the same prime relies on the non-vanishing of an equivariant Euler class. Additionally, we obtain new Borsuk--Ulam-type theorems on complex Stiefel manifolds, which are interesting on their own. These theorems yield complex analogues of recent extensions of the ham sandwich theorem for mass assignments by Axelrod-Freed and Soberón, and provide a direct proof of the complex central transversal theorem.

Abstract:We prove a generalization of Harish-Chandra's character orthogonality relations for discrete series to arbitrary admissible representations for real reductive Lie groups. This result is an analogue of a conjecture by Kazhdan for p-adic reductive groups proved by Bezrukavnikov and by Schneider and Stuhler.

For an arithmetical function [math], its Ramanujan expansion is a series expansion in the form [math] where [math] are complex numbers and [math] is the Ramanujan sum. Here, we prove a reciprocity result on Cohen–Ramanujan sums [math] to change the position of [math] and [math] in a twisted function and use it to prove that for certain arithmetical functions [math], Cohen–Ramanujan series expansions in the form [math] exist if and only if expansions in the form [math] exist.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a finitely $\mathbb{N}$-graded algebra over a Noetherian ring. In this paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of the so called $v$-number $\mathrm{w}_P(J^{\underline{n}}M/I^{\underline{n}}N)$ as function of $\underline{n}$ where $N\subset M$ are finitely generated $R$-modules, and $I_1\subset J_1,\dots,I_r\subset J_r$ are homogeneous ideals. We prove that $\mathrm{w}_P(M/I^{\underline{n}}N)$ and $\mathrm{w}_P(I^{\underline{n}}M/I^{\underline{n}+\underline{1}}N)$ are eventually the minimum of $r$ liner functions.

Abstract:In this short note, we provide an alternative proof of a notable theorem by Narasimhan and Ramanan. The theorem states that the moduli space of $S$-equivalence classes of semistable rank $2$ vector bundles over a curve $X$ of genus $2$ with trivial determinant is isomorphic to $\mathbb{P}^3$. Our proof relies on a criterion by Bauer and Szemberg, which characterizes projective spaces among smooth Fano varieties using Seshadri constants.

Abstract:In this paper we develop a general `analytic' splitting principle for RCD spaces: we show that if there is a function with suitable Laplacian and Hessian, then the space is (isomorphic to) a warped product. Our result covers most of the splitting-like results currently available in the literature about RCD spaces. We then apply it to extend to the non-smooth category some structural property of Riemannian manifolds obtained by Li and Wang.

On the Artin vanishing theorem for Stein spaces

Abstract:Artin vanishing theorems for Stein spaces refer to the vanishing of some of their (co)homology groups in degrees higher than the dimension. We obtain new positive and negative results concerning Artin vanishing for the cohomology of a Stein space relative to a Runge open subset. We also prove an Artin vanishing theorem for the Gal(C/R)-equivariant cohomology of a Gal(C/R)-equivariant Stein space relative to the fixed locus.

Buser and Sarnak proved the analogue of this result in the context of complex abelian varieties. Here we give an improvement of this analogue; this shows a conjecture of Muetzel.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a paracompact space, let $G$ be a finite group acting freely on $X$ and let $H$ a cyclic subgroup of $G$ of prime order $p$. Let $f:X\rightarrow M$ be a continuous map where $M$ is a connected $m$-manifold (orientable if $p>2$) and $f^* (V_k) = 0$, for $k\geq 1$, where $V_k$ are the $Wu$ classes of $M$. Suppose that $\ind X\geq n> (|G|-r)m$, where $r=\frac{|G|}{p}$. In this work, we estimate the cohomological dimension of the set $A(f,H,G)$ of $(H,G)$-coincidence points of $f$. Also, we estimate the index of a $(H, G)$-coincidence set in the case that $H$ is a $p$-torus subgroup of a particular group $G$ and as application we prove a topological Tverberg type theorem for any natural number $r$. Such result is a weak version of the famous topological Tverberg conjecture, which was proved recently fail for all $r$ that are not prime powers. Moreover, we obtain a generalized Van Kampen-Flores type theorem for any integer $r$.

Abstract:During the last decade the Subspace Theorem found several quite unexpected applications, mainly in the Diophantine Analysis and in the Transcendence Theory. Among the great variety of spectacular results, I have chosen several which are technically simpler and which allow one to appreciate how miraculously does the Subspace Theorem emerge in numerous situations, implying beautiful solutions to difficult problems hardly anybody hoped to solve so easily. The three main topics discussed in this article are: the work of Adamczewski and Bugeaud on complexity of algebraic numbers; the work of Corvaja and Zannier on Diophantine equations with power sums; the work of Corvaja and Zannier on integral points on curves and surfaces, and the subsequent development due to Levin and Autissier. In particular, we give a complete proof of the beautiful theorem of Levin and Autissier: an affine surface with 4 (or more) properly intersecting ample divisors at infinity cannot have a Zariski dense set of integral points.

Abstract:Let $a_1,\ldots,a_m$ be nonzero integers, $c \in \mathbb Z$ and $r \ge 2$. The Rado number for the equation \[ \sum_{i=1}^m a_ix_i = c \] in $r$ colours is the least positive integer $N$ such that any $r$-colouring of the integers in the interval $[1,N]$ admits a monochromatic solution to the given equation. We introduce the concept of $t$-distributability of sets of positive integers, and determine exact values whenever possible, and upper and lower bounds otherwise, for the Rado numbers when the set $\{a_1,\ldots,a_{m-1}\}$ is $2$-distributable or $3$-distributable, $a_m=-1$, and $r=2$. This generalizes previous works by several authors.

Abstract:We adapt the definition of the Vietoris map to the framework of finite topological spaces and we prove some coincidence theorems. From them, we deduce a Lefschetz fixed point theorem for multivalued maps that improves recent results in the literature. Finally, it is given an application to the approximation of discrete dynamical systems in polyhedra.
