Abstract:We consider a variety of Euler's conjecture, i.e., whether the Diophantine system n=a_1+a_2+⋯+a_s-1, a_1a_2⋯ a_s-1(a_1+a_2+⋯+a_s-1)=b^s has solutions n,b,a_i∈ℤ^+,i=1,2,…,s-1,s≥ 3. By using the theory of elliptic curves, we prove that it has no solutions n,b,a_i∈ℤ^+ for s=3, but for s=4 it has infinitely many solutions n,b,a_i∈ℤ^+ and for s≥ 5 there are infinitely many polynomial solutions n,b,a_i∈ℤ[t_1,t_2,…,t_s-3] with positive value satisfying this Diophantine system.

Abstract:We consider a variety of Euler’s sum of powers conjecture, i.e., whether the Diophantine system $$\left\{{\matrix{{n = {a_1} + {a_2} + \ldots + {a_{s - 1}},} \hfill \cr {{a_1}{a_2} \ldots {a_{s - 1}}({a_1} + {a_2} + \ldots + {a_{s - 1}}) = {b^s}} \hfill \cr}} \right.$$ has positive integer or rational solutions n, b, aj, i = 1, 2, …, s − 1, s ⩾ 3. Using the theory of elliptic curves, we prove that it has no positive integer solution for s = 3, but there are infinitely many positive integers n such that it has a positive integer solution for s ⩾ 4. As a corollary, for s ⩾ 4 and any positive integer n, the above Diophantine system has a positive rational solution. Meanwhile, we give conditions such that it has infinitely many positive rational solutions for s ⩾ 4 and a fixed positive integer n.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the diophantine equation σ_2(n)-n^2=An+B. We prove that except for finitely many computable solutions, all the solutions to this equation with (A,B)=(L_2m,F_2m^2-1) are n=F_2k+1F_2k+2m+1, where both F_2k+1 and F_2k+2m+1 are Fibonacci primes. Meanwhile, we show that the twin primes conjecture holds if and only if the equation σ_2(n)-n^2=2n+5 has infinitely many solutions.

Abstract:For numbers $x$ coprime to $10$ there exist infinitely many binary numbers $b$ such that the greatest common divisor of $b$ and rev($b$) = $x$ and the sum of digits of $b = x$ (rev($b$) is the digit reversal of $b$). In most cases, the smallest $b$ that fulfill these two constraints contain just a few zeros. But in some cases like for $x = 7, 11, 13$ and $37$, $b$ must contain more zeros than ones and these $b$ are called long solutions. For $11$ and $37$ it follows directly from the fact that these are porous numbers. For $7$ and $13$, the proofs that they have long solutions are presented in this paper.

Abstract:A linear Diophantine equation $\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_ix_i=b$ is considered, where $a_1,a_2,...,a_n$ are coprime natural numbers, $b$ is an non-negative integer, $x_i$ $(i=1,2,...,n)$ are non-negative integers. It is proved that if $\left[\frac{b}{M}\right]\geq \left[n-\frac{\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_i+r}{M}\right]$, then this equation is solvable (here $M$ is the least common multiple of the numbers $a_1,a_2,...,a_n$; $r$ is the remainder of $b$ modulo $M$). With the aid of this result, it is shown that the considered equation is solvable if either $b\geq nM-\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_i$ or $b\geq (n-1)M$. The case where $\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_i\geq (n-2)M+2$ is considered closer. It is proved that, in that case, the equation is solvable if $b>(n-1)M-\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_i$. If, in addition, $r>(n-1)M-\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_i$, then it has $\frac{M^{n-1}}{a_1a_2...a_n}C^{n-1}_{b'+n-1}$ integer non-negative solutions; it is also shown that if $b\geq M$ and $r\leq (n-1)M-\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_i$, then the number of solutions of the equation is greater than or equal to $\frac{M^{n-1}}{a_1a_2...a_n}C^{n-1}_{b'+n-2}$; here $b'=\left[\frac{b}{M}\right]$ (and $C^{k}_{m}$ denotes the binomial coefficient ${\begin{pmatrix}m\\k\\\end{pmatrix}}$). Moreover, it is proved that if the numbers $a_1,a_2,...,a_n$ are coprime, then $Frob(a_1,a_2,...,a_n)\leq c$, where $c$ is the smallest among the numbers $a_ia_j-a_i-a_j$ with $(a_i,a_j)=1$ ($1\leq i< j\leq n$).

Abstract:Let $f\in {\mathbb {Q}}[X]$ be a polynomial without multiple roots and $deg(f)\ge 2$. We consider the Diophantine equation $f(x)f(y)=f(z^2)$. For two classes of irreducible quadratic polynomials, this equation has infinitely many nontrivial integer solutions, if the corresponding Pell’s equations satisfy a condition. For a special cubic polynomial, it has a one-parameter family of rational solutions. For $f(X)=X(X^2+X+k)$ and $X(X^2+kX+1)$ there are infinitely many $k \in {\mathbb {Q}}$ such that the title equation has rational solutions.
A proof of a Dumortier-Roussarie's conjecture

Abstract:Dumortier and Roussarie proposed a conjecture in their paper (2009, Discrete Con. Dyn. Sys., 2,723-781): For any \begin{document}$ q\in {\mathbb{N}} $\end{document} , the Abelian integrals \begin{document}$ J_{2j+1}(h) = \int_{\gamma_h}x^{2j-1}\,\mathrm dy $\end{document} , \begin{document}$ j = 0, 1, 2, \cdots, q $\end{document} , form a strict Chebyshev system on intervals \begin{document}$ h\in (0, \frac{1}{2}] $\end{document} , where \begin{document}$ \gamma_h = \{(x, y)| \mathrm e^{-2y}(y+\frac{1}{2}-x^2) = h\} $\end{document} . If this conjecture holds, then they obtain the precise upper bound of the number of limit cycles that appear near a slow-fast Hopf point of any codimension. In the present paper we develop a method to estimate the number of zeros of Abelian integrals and prove this conjecture.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the equations involving Euler's totient function $\phi$ and Lucas type sequences. In particular, we prove that the equation $\phi (x^m-y^m)=x^n-y^n$ has no solutions in positive integers $x, y, m, n$ except for the trivial solutions $(x, y, m , n)=(a+1, a, 1, 1)$, where $a$ is a positive integer, and the equation $\phi ((x^m-y^m)/(x-y))=(x^n-y^n)/(x-y)$ has no solutions in positive integers $x, y, m, n$ except for the trivial solutions $(x, y, m , n)=(a, b, 1, 1)$, where $a, b$ are integers with $a>b\ge 1$.

Abstract: In this paper, we consider some hybrid Diophantine equations of addition and multiplication. We first improve a result on new Hilbert-Waring problem. Then we consider the equation \begin{equation} \begin{cases} A+B=C ABC=D^n \end{cases} \end{equation} where $A,B,C,D,n \in\ZZ_{+}$ and $n\geq3$, which may be regarded as a generalization of Fermat's equation $x^n+y^n=z^n$. When $\gcd(A,B,C)=1$, $(1)$ is equivalent to Fermat's equation, which means it has no positive integer solutions. We discuss several cases for $\gcd(A,B,C)=p^k$ where $p$ is an odd prime. In particular, for $k=1$ we prove that $(1)$ has no nonzero integer solutions when $n=3$ and we conjecture that it is also true for any prime $n>3$. Finally, we consider equation $(1)$ in quadratic fields $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{t})$ for $n=3$.

Abstract:We consider integers whose squares have just three decimal digits. Examples are e.g. given by $2108436491907081488939581538^2 = 4445504440405440505004450045555054500055550554550445444$ and $10100000000010401000000000101^2 = 102010000000210100200000110221001000002101002000000010201$. The aim of this paper is to summarize the current knowledge on squares with three digits, scattered around webpages and newsgroup postings, and to add a few new insights. While we will mostly focus on the base $B=10$, several results are presented for general values of $B$. The used mathematical tools are completely elementary. However, we give complete proofs of all statements or explicitly state them as conjectures.

Abstract:Generalizing an argument of Matiyasevich, we illustrate a method to generate infinitely many diophantine equations whose solutions can be completely described by linear recurrences. In particular, we provide an integer-coefficient polynomial $p(x, y, z)$ whose only integer roots are consecutive triples of Tribonacci numbers.

We got results around the Littlewood conjecture by using such approximations. Here we show that such results also hold when we add divisibility conditions.

Abstract:The number of solutions in finite fields of a system of polynomial equations obeys a very strong regularity, reflected for example by the rationality of the zeta function of an algebraic variety defined over a finite field, or the modularity of Hasse-Weil's $L$-function of an elliptic curve over $\Q$. Since two decades, efficient methods have been invented to compute effectively this number of solutions, notably in view of cryptographic applications. This exposé presents some of these methods, generally relying on the use of Lefshetz's trace formula in an adequate cohomology theory and discusses their respective advantages. ----- Le nombre de solutions dans les corps finis d'un système d'équations polynomiales obéit à une très forte régularité, reflétée par exemple par la rationalité de la fonction zêta d'une variété algébrique sur un corps fini, ou la modularité de la fonction $L$ de Hasse-Weil d'une courbe elliptique sur $\Q$. Depuis une vingtaine d'années des méthodes efficaces ont été inventées pour calculer effectivement ce nombre de solutions, notamment en vue d'applications à la cryptographie. L'exposé en présentera quelques-unes, généralement fondées l'utilisation de la formule des traces de Lefschetz dans une théorie cohomologique convenable, et expliquera leurs avantages respectifs.

Abstract:Let $b \ge 2$ be an integer. Not much is known on the representation in base $b$ of prime numbers or of numbers whose prime factors belong to a given, finite set. Among other results, we establish that any sufficiently large integer which is not a multiple of $b$ and has only small (in a suitable sense) prime factors has at least four nonzero digits in its representation in base $b$.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the existence of positive density collection of $d\in\mathbb{N}$ such that class numbers of $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d}), \ \mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d+1})\dots\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d+n})$ are not divisible by $3^k$ for $n=3^{k+1}-5$ for any $k\in\mathbb{N}$. This result constitutes the indivisibility counterpart of Iizuka's conjecture. For the same choice of $n$, we prove the existence of positive density collection of $d$, in the set of negative integers, such that the class numbers of $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d}), \ \mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d+1}),\dots,\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d+n})$ are not divisible by $3^{k+1}$. Further, we write the set of all square-free natural numbers as an increasing sequence $(d_n)$ and prove the existence of positive density collection of $i$ in the set of natural numbers such that the class numbers of the number fields $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d_i}), \ \mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d_{i+1}}),\ \mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d_{i+2}}),$ $ \mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d_{i+3}}),\dots, \mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d_{i+n}})$ are not divisible by $3^k$ for $n=3^{k+1}-5$. For higher degree, we show that certain limit of the collection of imaginary bi-quadratic fields whose class number is not divisible by $3$ over all the imaginary biquadratic fields is positive.
