Abstract:A simulation model was established for a high-pressure common-rail diesel engine by coupling a cylinder head, cylinder gasket, and dry cylinder liner. Simulation and testing were combined to study the out-of-roundness deformation of the dry cylinder liner under thermomechanical coupling effects at the rated power. The radial deformation characteristics of different orders of the cylinder liner were extracted with Fourier transform. The impacts of deformation on piston ring pack sealing and friction power were studied. The research results showed that the third-order deformation of the top surface of the cylinder liner was large under thermomechanical coupling, and the second-order deformation was large in the middle and upper parts of the cylinder liner, while the fourth-order deformation was large in the middle of the cylinder liner. The third- and fourth-order deformations had great impacts on blow-by gas flow rate and piston friction power. The maximum blow-by gas flow rate given by the second-order deformation was 35.4 and 35.7% less than those given by the third- and fourth-order deformations, respectively. It was found that the oil consumption rate caused by evaporation on the cylinder wall accounted for the largest proportion, followed by the oil consumption through the top piston ring. The oil consumption due to the piston ring's opening gap was low, and the oil consumption at the top ring bank was basically negligible. The second-order deformation had a great impact on the oil evaporation on the cylinder wall.
