Abstract:The influence of cubic and tetragonal systems of nano-sized ceramic barium titanate powder on hemolytic activity, free radical processes and antioxidant activity was studied. The physicochemical properties of BaTiO3 obtained by heat treatment in air at 800°C and 1200°C of the precursor synthesized by the sol-gel method were investigated. Based on X-ray phase analysis in conjunction with Raman spectra and heat capacity measurements, it was found that the crystal structure of BaTiO3 calcined at 1200°C is a tetragonal crystal system, while that of BaTiO3 calcined at 800°C is a cubic crystal system. The analysis of the scanning electron microscopy method in combination with the dynamic light scattering method showed a distribution of nanosized particles from 50 to 250 nm for BaTiO3 at 800°C and from 100 nm to 240 nm at 1200°C. Depending on the processing temperature, the powders were found to have different pore sizes: at 800°C - micropores and at 1200°C - mesopores.

Abstract:Barium titanate powders were synthesized via solid-state reaction method with little modifications in processing route. The phase of the sample was investigated by X-ray diffraction. The pure phase was found with no traces of impurity and secondary phase. Furthermore, crystallite size, stress, and strain were calculated using Scherrer method, Williamson-Hall analysis, uniform deformation model (UDM), uniform stress deformation model (USDM), and uniform deformation energy density model (UDEDM) approaches. These results are found in good agreement with FE-SEM results.

Abstract:Barium titanate (BaTiO3) is a compound that has a structure called perovskite. Synthesis of BaTiO3 can be done by employing separate methods. BaTiO3 has four polymorphs which are cubic, tetragonal, orthorhombic and rhombohedral, depending on the temperature, it has a tetragonal structure at ambient temperature. This paper aims to review different synthesis methods of BaTiO3, these techniques can be used in the process of making ceramics as a molding material and also as an intermediate between thin films of metal oxides in various applications. The characterization techniques mostly used in determining the lattice constant, crystal structure functional group, morphology, elemental compositions and electrical properties, of the nanomaterial, including the various applications of BaTiO3 which includes modern electronic appliances and electrical power systems, the Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCs), biological, and microwave absorption, due to their piezoelectric and dielectric properties are reviewed.

Abstract:Abstract Thick films of barium titanate were produced by using atmospheric plasma spraying, and their microstructures and dielectric properties were analyzed. X-ray diffraction analysis of the coating was performed to study the phase and structural properties. The results showed that the crystalline structures of the initial powder and the produced film were different and the latter displayed some amorphous phase. The percentage of amorphous phase varied with the amount of melted particles. The analysis of dielectric properties of the barium titanate films showed that these films have a minimum relative permittivity of 85 at room temperature. This was increased up to 165 by heat treatment at 1050°C for 3 h, due to the crystallization of amorphous phase and reduction of some of the defects because of the thermal spraying.

Enhanced Dielectric properties of Bismuth Doped Barium Titanate Ceramics with their Structural and Compositional Studies

Abstract:Several strategies have been employed to tune the functional properties of environmentally friendly Barium titanate (BaTiO3). In this work, bismuth (Bi) doped BaTiO3 with a general formula Ba1-xBi2x/3TiO3 (where x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05 and 0.06) were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. The effect of Bi on the structure of BaTiO3; and their morphological and compositional studies were carried out by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) respectively. Furthermore, the effect of Bi on the transport properties of BaTiO3 was investigated. Our studies revealed that for x = 0.01, Bi doping gives rise to the highest tetragonality of the crystal with more homogeneous grains and pores distribution among all the doping concentration. Furthermore, the dielectric constant for x = 0.01 samples has been observed to be the highest, which is consistent with the structural and morphological studies. Also, the tetragonal to cubic phase transition temperature (Curie temperature) of the sample is found to increase with increasing Bi doping concentration. Our studies suggest that the higher value of the dielectric constant with higher Curie temperature can be obtained by a small amount of Bi doping (x = 0.01), which has potential applications in various electronic and energy storage devices.

The objective of this study was to analyze the Trivedi Effect®-Consciousness Energy Healing Treatment on the phys-icochemical and thermal properties of sulfamethoxazole by using modern analytical techniques. The sulfamethoxaz-ole sample was classified as control and treated samples. The control sample did not receive the Biofield Treatment, while the treated sample received the Biofield Treatment remotely by a renowned Biofield Energy Healer, Dahryn Trivedi. The particle sizes of the treated sample were significantly reduced by 7.99% (d10), 3.05% (d50), 3.80% (d90), and 3.03%{D(4,3)}; whereas, the specific surface area of the particles was increased by 5.19% in the treated sample compared to the control sample. The PXRD peak intensities and crystallite sizes were altered ranging from -70.86% to 52.36% and -6.01% to 75.34%, respectively; whereas the average crystallite size was significantly increased by 27.28% in the treated sulfamethoxazole compared with the control sample. The sample residual amount and maximum thermal degradation temperature were increased by 2.13% and 4.21%, respectively, in the treated sample compared to the con-trol sample. The decomposition temperature and latent heat of decomposition were increased by 3.26% and 19.36%, respectively, in the treated sample compared to the untreated sample. The Biofield Treated sulfamethoxazole might con-vert to a novel polymorph of the drug, with reduced particle size, increased surface area, and improved thermal stability. This can be helpful in improving the solubility, bioavailability, and stability of the sulfamethoxazole and would be more efficacious for the treatment of infections in the ear, urinary tract infections, traveler’s diarrhoea, bronchitis, shigellosis, and pneumonia, etc.

Abstract:In the present work, we have reported the impact of bismuth (Bi) substitution on the structural, morphological, magnetic and microwave absorption properties of sol–gel route synthesized M-type barium hexaferrite BaBi x Fe 12− x O 19 ( x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15) within the frequency range of 1–12.5 GHz. The structure, associated functional groups, surface morphology, elemental composition, magnetic and microwave absorption characteristics, were analysed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and vector network analyzer (VNA), respectively. XRD patterns confirmed the single-phase hexagonal structure with high crystallinity and polycrystalline nature of the of bismuth ions doped barium hexaferrites. FE-SEM micrographs indicated that the grains were of platelet-like shapes. The confirmation of particle sizes and shapes were determined by HR-TEM micrographs. XPS investigations elucidated the elemental composition and chemical states at the surface level. BET analysis shed light on the specific surface area and pore characteristics. The increase in saturation magnetization caused by the addition of bismuth dopant is attributed to the replacement of Bi 3+ for Fe 3+ in tetrahedral 4f 1 sites. Microwave absorption characteristics revealed a minimal reflection loss (RL) of nearly − 38.78 dB for a sample thickness of 2.9 mm with an EAB RL<− 10 dB of 1.31 GHz (11.46–12.47) and EAB RL<− 20 dB of 0.5 GHz (12.05–12.50) near the frequency 12 GHz for x = 0.10 displaying the highest reflection loss of all compositions. The minimum RL lower than − 10 dB and − 20 dB shows that more than 90% and 99% of the electromagnetic wave energy is absorbed. Therefore, this investigation sheds light on the multifaceted influence of bismuth doping on the structural, morphological, magnetic and microwave absorption properties of M-type barium hexaferrites, offering significant implications for their utilization in various technological applications, particularly in the realm of microwave absorption.

Abstract:Bismuth and Yttrium co-doped Barium Titanate (BaTiO 3 ) ceramics with the general formula (Ba[Formula: see text]Bi X ) (Y x Ti[Formula: see text]) O 3 (where [Formula: see text], 0.01, 0.03, 0.05) have been synthesized at 1300 ∘ C for 3[Formula: see text]h by the standard solid-state reaction method. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Impedance Analyzer. Temperature-dependent dielectric properties of the samples were also measured. The XRD result revealed perovskite structure for un-doped and co-doped BaTiO 3 with tetragonal phase. However, with increasing doping concentration, a Pseudo cubic phase occurs also confirmed by the twin peaks (002) and (200) of XRD pattern. From SEM micrograph, submicron size particles were observed for all synthesized BaTiO 3 samples and exhibit a narrow size distribution with quiet uniform morphology. The crystalline size for un-doped BaTiO 3 found was 24.26[Formula: see text]nm, the size decreases (minimum 19.59[Formula: see text]nm for [Formula: see text]) for all compositions of co-doped BaTiO 3 . Dielectric constant values were apparently high and direct current (DC) resistivity follows a decreasing trend at higher doping concentration. The sample doped with [Formula: see text] shows minimum DC resistivity and maximum dielectric constant among the samples investigated.

Abstract:A range of methods for the detection of barium carbonate contaminant in barium titanate powder has been assessed, namely: X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), with EDS‐X‐ray microanalysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), gas chromatography (GC) for analysis of carbon, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The most satisfactory procedure for the detection of the small amounts of BaCO3 commonly present is FT‐IR. Surface analyses by XPS show that the carbonate is present as a discrete phase and is not a surface film on barium titanate particles.

Abstract:Abstract In this study, Barium ferrite (BaFe 12 O 19 ) was prepared in powder form using the sol-gel method. Next, structural, surface morphology, and radiation shielding properties of Barium ferrite compound were determined using experimental and simulation methods. The structural and surface morphology were characterised using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and the scanning electron microscope (SEM). The formation of hexagonal structure has been verified by XRD patterns for synthesised pure BaFe 12 O 19 . The amplitude of XRD peaks declines as the FWHM rises, indicating that crystallinity has degraded and crystallite size has decreased. SEM images provide accurate representations of surfaces. The topography of the surface is characterized by the presence of several spherical granules. Additionally, the mean diameter of the spherical granules was determined to be approximately 30 nm using the histogram. Moreover, FLUKA simulation code was used to calculate some radiation shielding parameters such as linear attenuation coefficients (4.639, 0.554, 0.336 and 0.2013 cm −1 ), mass attenuation coefficients (0.8787, 0.1049, 0.0686 and 0.0381 cm 2 g −1 ), half value layers (0.1494, 1.2512, 2.0629 and 3.4434 cm) and mean free path values (0.21554, 1.8051, 2.9762and 4.9677 cm) against 0.81, 0.356, 0.911 and 2.614 MeV photon energies, respectively. The results showed that synthesized Barium ferrite has good surface renditions and distinguished spherical granules along with promising gamma-ray attenuation properties.

Abstract:Nanocrystalline barium titanate (BaTiO3, BT) was synthesized hydrothermally at 220°C by reacting barium hydroxide with titanium dioxide. The resulting BT nanopowders were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), Raman spectrum, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR‐TEM). The BT nanopowders have a cubic phase as revealed by the XRD and SAED results, whereas the Raman spectrum indicates that tetragonal phase BT exists in the produced nanopowders but is not the dominant phase because of the weak characteristic peak of the tetragonal structure at 305 cm−1. In the SEM and TEM images, many coarse‐faceted cubic nanoparticles and a small amount of spherical particles are observed, indicating a developed bimodal size distribution of the BT powders. The variations of electron diffraction contrast across these particles in the TEM images indicate the presence of high strain in the BT nanoparticles, which is probably caused by the lattice defects like OH− ions and their compensation by cation vacancies. The HR‐TEM image of a BT nanoparticle with a size of 24 nm and a spherical morphology demonstrates a uniform and perfect crystal structure. The surrounding edges of the particle are very smooth and no surface steps are observed. However, a terrace–ledge–kink (TLK) surface structure was frequently observed at the edges of the BT nanoparticles with rough surface morphology, and in most cases the terrace and ledge lie on the {100} planes. The observed TLK surface structure can be well interpreted by the theory of periodic bond chains. Small nucleated and triangular BT islands with three to four atomic layer thickness, and their outside surfaces faceted as (100) and (010) planes, are also observed in these particles. The rarely seen {110} surface in the BT nanoparticles was found to be reconstructed so that the surface was composed of corners bound by {100} minifaces like the triangular small islands. Microstructural defects such as antiphase boundaries were also observed near the edge of a BT nanoparticle, which were formed by the intersection of two crystalline parts with displacement deviation from each other by , as revealed by the HR‐TEM images.

Abstract:This research investigates the structural, dielectric, and optical properties of doped barium titanate (BaTiO3) ceramics, highlighting their potential for advanced electronic applications. Barium titanate, a prominent ferroelectric material, was doped with various elements in a systematic manner to improve its functional attributes.The crystalline structure and phase development were described by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), showcasing how doping affects lattice parameters and phase stability. Dielectric characteristics like loss tangent and permittivity were evaluated across different frequencies and temperatures, revealing the dopants' impact on dielectric behavior and ferroelectric properties. Optical studies, including UV-Vis spectroscopy, examined the bandgap and optical transmittance, which are vital for optoelectronic uses. It is found that targeted doping can effectively modify the structural, dielectric, and optical characteristics of barium titanate ceramics, making them ideal for capacitors, sensors, and other electronic devices. This study offers valuable insights into optimizing barium titanate ceramics to achieve superior performance in various technological applications. It has also been observed that certain dopants reduced the bandgap energy, leading to better optical transparency and tunable refractive indices, which are valuable for optoelectronic applications.

Abstract:In the present study, structural changes due to gradual doping of Sr in BaTiO3 were investigated by both x-ray and neutron powder diffraction techniques. Ba1-xSrxTiO3 (x=0.0, 0.5 and 1.0) samples were synthesized by PVA evaporation method and purity was confirmed by x-ray diffraction experiment. After that, neutron diffraction experiments were carried out and diffraction data were analyzed by Rietveld least-square data refinement method using the computer program RIETAN-2000 and FullProf to determine various crystallographic structural parameters. The cation and anion position coordinates were also determined from the data refinement method which confirmed that Ba and Sr atoms possess tetrahedral A site and Ti atoms possess octahedral B site for all three samples BaTiO3, Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3, and SrTiO3, respectively. Moreover, the lattice parameter values indicate, Ba1-xSrxTiO3 structure undergoes a phase transition from tetragonal to cubic somewhere before x=0.5. The concurrences between observed and calculated profiles were excellent and well consistent with the previously reported values. Furthermore, MEM based analysis was done for charge density measurement.

Abstract:Barium titanate powder with average particle size near 300 nm was produced using the low-temperature synthesis. It was established using scanning electron microscopy that at the thermal treatment, the particles gradually decrease with the formation of polydisperse aggregates. Based on the thermogravimetric analysis of the synthesized powder held in air for 4 months, it was shown that along with the low-temperature phase, the sample contains a high-temperature phase of carbonates, which removes at ~ 900 °C. Sorption characteristics of barium titanate thermally treated at various temperatures were obtained from the results of adsorption-desorption of nitrogen vapors. The specific surface area of the BaTiO3 powder was 76 m2/g. It was found that further heat treatment leads to a decrease in the specific surface area. The X-ray diffraction analysis of barium hydroxotitanil annealed at temperatures from 120 °C to 800 °C showed that the thermal treatment of the sample leads to the formation of a completely formed phase of barium titanate. The DSC temperature was used to determine the Curie temperatures for a HTB powder thermally treated in the temperature range from 120 to 800 °C. The local distortion of the perovskite structure caused by the co-substitution leads to a decrease in the tetragonality ( c / a ratio) of the BaTi 1− x Ni x Zn x O 3 ceramics. The local structural distortion is linked with a compositional fluctuation resulting from the co-substitution, which leads to a diffusive phase transition and a significant decrease in the Curie temperature of the sintered samples. The Curie temperature drops from 123 oC for pristine BaTiO 3 to 104 oC for 8% co-substitution. It was found that the electrical conductivity increases with the co-substitution of Nickel and Zinc, and the conduction mechanism is explained by the nearest neighbor hopping model.
