Abstract:Based on analyzing the design of bottle mould,combined with parts and components library,variant design technique and simulation optimization of bottle blow molding process technique,the rapid-design method of bottle mould was propounded.A rapid-design system for beverage-bottle mould was developed based on the reality of the company,and the application of it to company was introduced.Application shows that the method can reduce the period and cost of bottle mould design.[Ch,9 fig.9 ref.]

Abstract:The lens molding technology has become a promising fabrication method for glass lens, especially for aspheric glass lens in batch. Because during the real compression molding, the error compensation for mold shape turns very difficult, the mold needs to be repaired repeatedly to meet the requirements of lens molding. To solve this problem, a cooperative design scheme is proposed. However, the scheme is not limited to solving the mold repairing; it also aims to providing the integrated and optimal design for aspheric glass-lens mold. In fact, the cooperative scheme is a collaborative software platform, which integrates with data processing, optical design, finite element analysis, error compensation and mechanical design for lens molding. On this platform, users only need to submit the (camera) lens parameters or measured data of aspheric lens, and then the platform can provide the final mold drawings, which will be input in the CNC software of ultra-precision machine and guide the mold fabrication. Meanwhile, the cooperative platform is Network-based PDM system, so designers could remotely communicate with it and help to finish the mold design jointly. In this case, the cooperative design could tremendously improve the efficiency and accuracy of lens molding.

Abstract:Abstract: The oblique guide column lateral core extraction mechanism and oblique push rod inner core extraction mechanism have been designed to address molding and demolding issues with plastic parts' inner buckles and side wall holes. The aim is to simplify the mold structure as much as possible while maximizing effectiveness and one-time success rate. Injection molding simulation using Moldflow software and DOE experimental design analysis have been utilized to determine the best pouring system and cooling system. Based on simulation and optimization results, the product mold structure has been designed using UG software with a two-cavity layout and latent point gating. The entire design process is based on Moldflow and UG software, thereby reducing design cycle, simplifying mold trial process and cutting costs. This mold design can be used as a reference for other plastic products with similar structures.

Abstract:Many plastic products in our lives are produced mainly by special moulds. If there is no good mould, the quality of the product will be significantly reduced. A good set of moulds can reduce labour time and save costs, solve the problem of injection mould in the production of one-way valve seats, make it easy to take off and reduce bubbles, and improve the quality of products. It is of great significance to study and design related moulds. This paper analyzes the process of a one-way valve seat, studies the moulding principle of plastic parts, analyzes the appearance and shape of plastic parts, and optimizes the parting surface design. The reasonable choice of mould frame makes the structure more straightforward to produce and manufacture.

Abstract:The shape of injection molding seat is complex with large size.The traditional mold design method can not meet the producing requirements.In this paper,using modern mold design methods,combined with the principle of ergonomics and Pro/E software proceed seat 3D modeling,further more using CAE software Moldflow/MPI proceeds injection molding simulation analysis on seat model.The results show that the design of seat can meet the requirements of the manufacturer,and the seat produced is simple,comfortable,graceful,aesthetic.The parameters of molding process are optimized.

Abstract:Based on the analysis that mosquito lid should meet the use function,shape of mosquito lid was designed in Pro / E. The entity model was manufactured by rapid prototyping machine to produce the ABS material sample. The injection mold of mosquito coils lid plastic was designed. The analysis of the plastic parts was optimized in Moldflow software. Using Moldflow software,the runner injection mold and cooling system were optimized and analyzed. Mold supporting structure strength was analyzed in the ANSYS software.The process using rapid prototyping technology and CAD / CAE technology to design product and injection mold was realized,reflecting the short development time and high precision.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, injection molding is used as a method of plastic molding, which is a method in which plastic in the molten state is injected into a closed mold cavity by compression, and the molten material fills the cavity and is then cured by cooling to maintain the shape in the mold. The basic structural form and parameters of the mold’s parting surface, winding injection system, and cooling system are determined by mold flow analysis. CAE analysis is used to move the mold filling analysis to the computer, and the mold casting and cooling system’s design scheme can be evaluated and optimized according to the analysis results. After Moldflow software analysis of warpage deformation, the total warpage deformation of the molded part was obtained, the maximum deformation reached 0.931mm, the maximum deformation from uneven cooling was 0.192mm, the maximum deformation from uneven shrinkage was up to 0.942mm, the deformation from shrinkage was even larger than the integrated deformation, which had a greater impact on the final deformation of the molded part. It has a relatively large impact on the final deformation of the plastic part. Therefore, using CAE can improve the efficiency of mold design, optimize the structural design of the mold, effectively improve the quality of the mold and reduce the mold manufacturing cost. The promotion of its application is in line with the development of the times and promotes the rapid development of the injection mold field.

Feature Extraction from Freeform Molded Parts for Moldability Analysis

Abstract:In the design of plastic injection molds, the depressions and protrusions (DP) preventing the removal of molded part from mold are referred to as undercuts. This paper describes an approach to recognize DP feature within the curvature region representation based on the curvature properties of entities in B-rep model. The recognized depression features and the concave transitions between protrusion features are potential undercuts which affect the choice of parting directions of the molded part. The possible withdrawal directions of the potential undercuts are derived by geometric reasoning and visibility map computation. This method can recognize isolated and intersecting features with planar, quadric, and freeform surfaces. The identified potential undercuts with their possible withdrawal directions can provide decision support information for mold design such as selecting parting direction, parting lines and surfaces, etc. The case study is presented to verify the feasibility of the developed method.

Abstract:Plastic injection molding has been widely used in the past and is a dominant forming approach today. Injection molding is one of the most important processes in the plastic manufacturing industry. More than one-third of all plastic materials are injection molded, and the mold is one of the main components in the injection molding process. The aim of this engineering book is to show detailed steps on how to design a complete mold and use of the simulation software to analyze the material flow and identify manufacturing defects in the product. The cost of the mold is high and any process that is not optimized renders heavy overheads during its development cycle and production. So designing the mold which ensures the best suitability for the features on the component with the smooth flow of molten plastic is a very important part of the development process. To better understand plastic injection molding and the effects of the core process parameters on the process, performances has been studied using the state-of-the-art computer-aided engineering (CAE) design tool, Moldflow analysis software.

Abstract:Numerical simulation of the injection molding process of the outer panel of the automotive plastic rear door and mold design is presented here. Computer aided three-dimensional interactive application (CATIA) is employed to design the original automotive steel structure, and the modal and thermodynamic properties of the plastic back door outer panel are changed by changing the different injection materials of the back door outer panel. In order to efficiently design the panels, finite element analysis is used to verify whether the designed parts meet the mechanical properties requirements such as light weight, low fuel consumption, short production cycle, strong modeling design, high corrosion resistance and good recovery, the above main parameters have been evaluated, and the above main parameters are carried out evaluate. To simulate the injection molding process, computer aided engineering (CAE) software such as ANSYS and HyperWorks are used to analyze the back door of the selected material. After the numerical analysis, suitable material is selected, so that the modal and thermodynamic properties of the product could be satisfied as well as improved. Unigraphics NX (UG) is employed to design the convex and concave mold for the injection molding of the automobile’s plastic back door panel. Combined with the characteristics of the parts and the design requirements of the injection mold, the multi-scheme design of the pouring and cooling system is carried out. By comparing the effects of different gating and cooling systems on injection molding, the best gating and cooling system is selected. The artificial fish swarm algorithm is used to optimize the process parameters of the injection molding process, and the best combination of the injection molding process parameters of the outer panel of the rear door of the automobile is obtained.

Abstract:Aiming at the property of the micro dish-shaped parts ,a combining micro blanking process with micro deep drawing process is studied ,and the corresponding composite mold is designed. The processes of shallow hemisphere drawing ,punching and blanking are accomplished in only one blanking stroke,which can reduce the positioning and installation tolerances,processing time and manufacturing cost of mold with multi-step forming. The method decrease position deviation of micro dish-shaped parts′ feature structure,so as to achieve high quality and high efficiency way to manufacture micro dish-shaped parts ,and easy to ensure the consistency of the part feature size with composite molding process.

Abstract:Injection molding is one of the best technique for the mass production. This study aims at optimizing the process by reducing the cycle time of pen or any such article mold. The research result was directed towards the objective of obtaining an optimal cycle time by varying the different process parameters of injection molding process. So far the study pen was designed in solid works software and then same was 3D printed. The dimensions of the 3D printed pen helped us in designing the mold of the pen. The actual mold was analyzed by fabricating a mold using wood. This practically helped us in knowing the whole process of injection molding much better as the different parts of the mold were understood properly. After analyzing the wooden mold the main mold was fabricated using high Strength Steel (HSS). The research helped us in understanding the behavior of flow of polymer in injection molding process for different parameters like Pressure, Injection time, Temperature, Ejection.

Abstract:Abstract The cooling system of plastic injection mold plays a critical role during the injection molding process. It not only affects part quality but also its cycle time. Traditionally, due to the limitations of conventional drilling methods, the cooling system of the injection mold usually consists of simple paralleled straight channels. It seriously limits the mobility of cooling fluid, which leads to the low cooling efficiency for the parts with complex free-form surfaces. In this research, an innovative design method for the cooling system of an injection mold is proposed by using conformal porous structures. The size and shape of each cell in the conformal porous structure are varied according to the shape of an injection molded part. Design cases are provided at the end of this paper to further illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method. Compared with those existing design methods for the uniform porous structures, the proposed method can further reduce the nonuniformity of the mold surface temperature distribution and decrease the pressure drop of the cooling system.
