Abstract:Thakur Suraj Mal constructed the fort of Surajgarh in 1778. The Fort is now owned by Tikaraj Aishwarya Katoch and Tikarani Shailija. Tikaraj Aishwarya is the son of Princess of Jodhpur and Maharaja of Kangra. They have converted the fort into the hotel. Although the fort is in the Shekhawati Region of Rajasthan, which is a great tourism site because of splendid havelies and frescoes but Surajgarh is a small village and it is a great challenge to attract, recruit and retain the employees for the Surajgarh Fort Hotel. In this chapter, the author will analyze and evaluate the talent management challenges in “rural heritage hotels.”

Abstract:In today’s digital era, organizations are increasingly embracing new and innovative technologies to enhance their communication strategies and reach a wider audience. By examining the case of the virtual tour of Godrej Archives’ permanent exhibition ‘Back to the Future’ housed in Godrej’s Vikhroli campus, this article demonstrates how organizations can leverage digital technologies to enhance storytelling, effectively communicate their history, vision and values and engage a diverse audience. As a part of the digital strategy, Godrej Archives has adopted digital technology for effective data management since 2015, and in 2020–2021, it started exploring the potential of digital avenues such as virtual tour for disseminating corporate heritage. The findings emphasize the potential of digital platforms in transforming traditional approaches to corporate storytelling and heritage marketing.

Abstract:Sustainable architecture is the application of principles that contribute in the evolution of building designs and processes that reduce the negative environmental effects of construction. When contemplating Jodhpur's vernacular architecture, it becomes clear that traditional construction methods correspond to basic green design principles such as using energy-efficient locally available materials and resources. Many traditional aspects of Jodhpur architecture can be easily incorporated into contemporary environments to provide a sustainable atmosphere and natural accompaniment. This study presents the scope of eco-friendly development of the city by using traditional construction techniques and materials, built forms, and fabric with a thorough analysis of the hot and dry climate of the area. It also encompasses the use of this local architecture to help create an energy- efficient thermal comfort zone in similar climatic conditions in any part of the world. This work is an attempt to reclaim the ideals about good architecture towards this setting, in not only terms of identifying the hot and arid climate but also in terms of producing a design philosophy relevant to the manner of living in a conventional city.

Abstract:The Scythians is an expansive study of a lost civilization with everlasting characteristics and a rich cultural and artistic heritage. It provides a sympathetic account of a nomadic civilization encompassing a wide variety of sources. Most significantly, it utilizes interdisciplinary methodology to exemplify a model of how to research a nomadic culture doing justice to its historical understanding. The book is arranged into twelve chapters, each focusing on a different aspect of the Scythians: its people, geography, culture, military, art, and history. Rather than following a chronological format, Cunliffe focuses on tracing the evidence in historical records as well as archeological findings in compiling a picture of the Scythians as complete as possible with available material. The book is rich with visual material: pictures, illustrations, maps, images of objects and crafts, as well as an addendum gallery with ten objects presented and interpreted in detail providing depictions of the Scythian life.

Abstract:In Indian culture folk arts like Aipan Art, Miniature Painting, Bhil Art, Dokra Art, Godna Art, Kalamkari Painting, Kalighat Painting, Kavad Art, Mural Painting, Madhubani Art, Mandala Art, Mandana Painting, Pattachitra, Phad Painting, Pichwai Painting, Sanjhi Art, Warli Painting and many more are passed down from one generation to another without changing its cultural and traditional vibrancy, that is why Indian folk arts are still alive and these are successfully taught informally. Indian folk arts are not just expressions of artists, but a way to portray their stories, memories, values, and beliefs. The folk arts are ethnic, simple, vibrant, and colourful in nature. Folk art plays an important role for the richness of Indian art and culture. The folk arts show the history and the heritage of India. In Indian art, culture and tradition, Rajasthan stands as the most colourful and breath-taking state with its various art forms and unique culture. Reflection of uniqueness can be seen in Mandana, Pichwai and Kavad. These traditional art forms depicting various gods, goddess, and folk tales. These folk arts are affected by many critical situations in time to time, but these folk arts are continuously maintaining their tradition vibrancy.
Universal Access in Heritage Site: A Case Study on Jantar Mantar, Jaipur, India

Abstract:One of the key requirements for an inclusive and sustainable society is that everyone should be able to participate in and enjoy the social, economic and cultural assets of that society. For some people, barriers exist which make visiting and using heritage buildings and places difficult or sometimes impossible. Making the built heritage more accessible in an appropriate and sensitive manner can increase awareness and appreciation of its cultural, social and economic value. The roots of universal access are grounded in equal opportunity, nondiscrimination and designing for diversity. Architects play an important role in creating accessibility awareness in the society. Thus it is important to impart 'universal design' teaching in architecture schools that will bring awareness amongst budding architects and planners who will respond to the need of diverse population and will create awareness in the society. This paper is and outcome of the academic exercise conducted for the Masters in Architectural Conservation Design Studio at the site of Jantar Mantar with diverse users and proposing solutions for physical and intellectual access to the site. The paper aims to develop awareness, sense of responsibility among students through universal design education for a heritage site and further discuss the possible universal design interventions at World Heritage Site of Jantar Mantar, Jaipur.

Abstract:Building upon Julie Ren's ( Citation 2023 ) "radical openness" to use Urban Geograph y's relaunched book review forum as an exploratory space, this review of the book Lively Cities (Barua, Citation 2023 ) has been organized multimodally. Simultaneous to the publication of this review forum, the commentaries will also be featured as part of the Urban Political Podcast. Moreover, this review forum also generously benefited from the Lively Cities doctoral workshop organized jointly between the Institute for Landscape and Urban Studies, ETH Zurich, the University of Lichtenstein, and the City Collaboratory Network. The doctoral workshop was attended by over 25 doctoral students from across the world and was instrumental in unpacking the lively milieu codified within the book.
