Abstract:Ramanujan showed that $\tau(p) \equiv p^{11}+1 \pmod{691}$, where $\tau(n)$ is the $n$-th Fourier coefficient of the unique normalized cusp form of weight $12$ and full level, and the prime $691$ appears in the numerator of $\zeta(12)/\pi^{12}$ for the Riemann zeta function $\zeta(s)$. Searching for such congruences, it is shown that the prime $67$ appears in the numerator of $L(6,\chi)/(\pi^6 \sqrt{5})$, where $\chi$ is the unique nontrivial quadratic Dirichlet character modulo $5$ and $L(s,\chi)$ its Dirichlet $L$-function, giving rise to a congruence $f_\chi \equiv E^\circ_{6, \chi} \pmod{67}$ between a cusp form $f_\chi$ and an Eisenstein series $E^\circ_{6, \chi}$ of weight $6$ on $\Gamma_0(5)$ with nebentypus character $\chi.$

Abstract:For any non-negative integer $n$ and non-zero integer $r$, let $p_r(n)$ denote Ramanujan's general partition function. By employing $q$-identities, we prove some new Ramanujan-type congruences modulo 5 for $p_r(n)$ for $r=-(5\lambda+1), -(5\lambda+3), -(5\lambda+4), -(25\lambda+1)$, $-(25\lambda+2)$, and any integer $\lambda$.

Abstract:In this work, Ramanujan type congruences modulo powers of primes $p \ge 5$ are derived for a general class of products that are modular forms of level $p$. These products are constructed in terms of Klein forms and subsume generating functions for $t$-core partitions known to satisfy Ramanujan type congruences for $p=5,7,11$. The vectors of exponents corresponding to products that are modular forms for $\Gamma_{1}(p)$ are subsets of bounded polytopes with explicit parameterizations. This allows for the derivation of a complete list of products that are modular forms for $\Gamma_{1}(p)$ of weights $1\le k \le 5$ for primes $5\le p \le 19$ and whose Fourier coefficients satisfy Ramanujan type congruences for all powers of the primes. For each product satisfying a congruence, cyclic permutations of the exponents determine additional products satisfying congruences. Common forms among the exponent sets lead to products satisfying Ramanujan type congruences for a broad class of primes, including $p> 19$. Canonical bases for modular forms of level $5\le p \le 19$ are constructed by summing weight one Hecke Eisensten series of levels $5\le p \le 19$ and expressing the result as a quotient of Klein forms. Generating sets for the graded algebras of modular forms for $\Gamma_{1}(p)$ and $\Gamma(p)$ are formulated in terms of permutations of the exponent sets. A sieving process is described by decomposing the space of modular forms of weight $1$ for $\Gamma_{1}(p)$ as a direct sum of subspaces of modular forms for $\Gamma(p)$ of the form $q^{r/p}\Bbb Z[[q]]$. Since the relevant bases generate the graded algebra of modular forms for these groups, the weight one decompositions determine series dissections for modular forms of higher weight that lead to additional classes of congruences.

Abstract:Recently, Chan and Wang proved numerous congruences satisfied by $$p_{a/b}(n)$$, where $$p_{a/b}(n)$$ denotes the coefficient of $$q^n$$ in the series expansion of $$(q;q)_\infty ^{\frac{a}{b}}$$. Moreover, they presented many conjectures on the congruences for $$p_{a/b}(n)$$. In this paper, we not only prove some conjectures of Chan and Wang, but also discover new congruences for $$p_{a/b}(n)$$ in light of Ramanujan’s modular equations of fifth, seventh and thirteenth orders.

Abstract:With the help of El Bachraoui's lemma, the creative microscoping method, and a new form of the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials, we prove a $q$-supercongruence for double series and a $q$-supercongruence for triple series modulo the sixth power of a cyclotomic polynomial. As conclusions, two corresponding supercongruences for double and triple series, which are associated with the (D.2) supercongruence of Van Hamme, are given.

Abstract:Interior perfect fluid solutions for the Reissner-Nordstrom metric are studied on the basis of a new classification scheme. It specifies which two of the fluid's characteristics are given functions and picks up accordingly one of the three main field equations, the other two being universal. General formulae are found for charged de Sitter solutions, the case of constant energy component of the energy-momentum tensor, the case of known pressure (including charged dust) and the case of linear equation of state. Explicit new global solutions, mainly in elementary functions, are given as illustrations. Known solutions are briefly reviewed and corrected.

Some $q$-supercongruences for multiple basic hypergeometric series

Abstract:In terms of several summation and transformation formulas for basic hypergeometric series, two forms of the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials, the creative microscoping method introduced by Guo and Zudilin, Guo and Li's lemma, and El Bachraoui's lemma, we establish some $q$-supercongruences for multiple basic hypergeometric series modulo the fifth and sixth powers of a cyclotomic polynomial. In detail, we generalize Guo and Li's two $q$-supercongruences for double basic hypergeometric series, which are related to $q$-analogues of Van Hamme's (C.2) supercongruence and Long's supercongruence, respectively. In addition, we also present two conclusions for double and triple hypergeometric series associated with Van Hamme's (D.2) supercongruence.

Abstract:Recently, the authors with Lea Beneish established a recipe for constructing Ramanujan-Sato series for $1/\pi$, and used this to construct 11 explicit examples of Ramanujan-Sato series arising from modular forms for arithmetic triangle groups of non-compact type. Here, we use work of Chisholm, Deines, Long, Nebe and the third author to prove a general $p$-adic supercongruence theorem through an explicit connection to CM hypergeometric elliptic curves that provides $p$-adic analogues of these Ramanujan-Sato series. We further use this theorem to construct explicit examples related to each of our explicit Ramanujan-Sato series examples.

Abstract:$q$-Supercongruences modulo the fifth and sixth powers of a cyclotomic polynomial are very rare in the literature. In this paper, we establish some $q$-supercongruences modulo the fifth and sixth powers of a cyclotomic polynomial in terms of Jackson's $_8\phi_7$ summation, Watson's $_8\phi_7$ transformation, the creative microscoping method recently introduced by Guo and Zudilin, and the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials. More concretely, we give a $q$-analogue of a nice formula due to Long and Ramakrishna [Adv. Math. 290 (2016), 773--808] and two $q$-supercongruences involving double series.

$q$-Supercongruences from squares of basic hypergeometric series

Abstract:We give some new $q$-supercongruences on truncated forms of squares of basic hypergeometric series. Most of them are modulo the cube of a cyclotomic polynomial, and two of them are modulo the fourth power of a cyclotomic polynomial. The main ingredients of our proofs are the creative microscoping method, a lemma of El Bachraoui, and the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials. We also propose several related conjectures for further study.

Abstract:Recently, Amdeberhan, Sellers and Singh introduced the notion of a generalized cubic partition function $a_c(n)$ and proved two isolated congruences via modular forms, namely $a_3(7n+4)\equiv 0\pmod{7}$ and $a_5(11n+10)\equiv 0\pmod{11}$. In this paper, we provide another proofs of these congruences using classical $q$-series manipulations. We also give an infinite family of congruences for $a_c(n)$ for primes $p\equiv 5,7\pmod{8}$ and other isolated congruences modulo $19,23$ and $31$ using modular forms.

Abstract:Ramanujan recorded five $q$-series identities at the end of his second notebook and an unified generalization of these identities obtained by Bhoria, Eyyunni and Maji. Recently, Dixit and Patel gave a finite analogue of the identity of Bhoria et. al. which in turn gives finite analogue of all the aforementioned identities of Ramanujan. In this paper, one of our main goals is to obtain a one-variable generalization of the identity of Bhoria et. al. along with its finite analogue, which naturally generalizes the result of Dixit and Patel. Utilizing these newly established identities, we derive one-variable generalizations for each of the five entries by Ramanujan and their corresponding finite analogues.

Abstract:Here we investigate the $q$-series \begin{align*} \mathcal{U}_a(q)&=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty} MO(a;n)q^n&:=\sum_{0< k_1<k_2<\cdots<k_a} \frac{q^{k_1+k_2+\cdots+k_a}}{(1-q^{k_1})^2(1-q^{k_2})^2\cdots(1-q^{k_a})^2},\\ \mathcal{U}_a^{\star}(q)&=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}M(a;n)q^n&:=\sum_{1\leq k_1\leq k_2\leq\cdots\leq k_a} \frac{q^{k_1+k_2+\cdots+k_a}}{(1-q^{k_1})^2(1-q^{k_2})^2\cdots(1-q^{k_a})^2}. \end{align*} MacMahon introduced the $\mathcal{U}_a(q)$ in his seminal work on partitions and divisor functions. Recent works show that these series are sums of quasimodular forms with weights $\leq 2a.$ We make this explicit by describing them in terms of Eisenstein series. We use these formulas to obtain explicit and general congruences for the coefficients $MO(a;n)$ and $M(a;n).$ Notably, we prove the conjecture of Amdeberhan-Andrews-Tauraso as the $m=0$ special case of the infinite family of congruences $$ MO(11m+10; 11n+7)\equiv 0\pmod{11}, $$ and we prove that $$ MO(17m+16; 17n+15)\equiv 0\pmod{17}. $$ We obtain further formulae using the limiting behavior of these series. For $n\leq a+\binom{a+1}2,$ we obtain a ``hook length'' formulae for $MO(a;n)$, and for $n\leq 2a$, we find that $M(a;n)=\binom{a+n-1}{n-a}+\binom{a+n-2}{n-a-1}.$

Abstract:We present outlines of a general method to reach certain kinds of $q$-multiple sum identities. Throughout our exposition, we shall give generalizations to the results given by Dilcher, Prodinger, Fu and Lascoux, Zeng, and Guo and Zhang concerning $q$-series identities related to divisor functions. Our exposition shall also provide a generalization of the duality relation for finite multiple harmonic $q$-series given by Bradley.

Abstract:Several years ago, Long and Ramakrishna [Adv. Math. 290 (2016), 773--808] extended Van Hamme's (H.2) supercongruence to the modulus $p^3$ case. Recently, Guo [Int. J. Number Theory, to appear] found a $q$-analogue of the Long--Ramakrishna formula for $p\equiv 3\pmod 4$. In this note, a $q$-analogue of the Long--Ramakrishna formula for $p\equiv 1\pmod 4$ is derived through the $q$-Whipple formulas and the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials.
