Firstly, the structure of the human knee is analyzed with consideration of the skeletal muscle and bone as slider-crank mechanism; secondly, the structure and mathematic model of the bionics knee joint is built; thirdly, the independent parameters and the working stroke minimum transmission angle formula of slider-crank mechanisms are determined by investigating the geometrical relations and the working stroke transmission angle of slider-crank mechanisms. A useful method is provided in order to improve the effective force transmission performance of slider-crank mechanism during conceptual design.

For geometrically nonlinear structure, the expressions of tangent stiffness matrix and internal forces of shell element are derived by CR (Co-rotational) theory, and the simplified formulation is performed on static analysis of a hinged cylindrical segment and validated by the results of experiment and references. Then, a predictor-corrector procedure with an approximately energy conservation is developed. With the application on nonlinear symmetric motion of a cylinder under two pinching forces, the improved procedure presents a better stability and accuracy than nonlinear Newmark algorithm.

For topology optimization of a structure with tension-only material, the effects of the Poisson's ratio of material on the final structural topologies are investigated. To simulate the topology optimization of a structure with tension-only material, the material-replacement method is presented. In the method the original tension-only material is replaced with a new isotropic material with the same modulus and Poisson's ratio to simplify the structural analysis. When the original material is replaced with isotropic material, only approximate displacement field can be obtained. To decrease the error between the actual displacement field of the structure with original material and the current displacement field of the structure with isotropic material, the local effective stiffness of a material point is modified according to the local strain and stress. To find the effects of the Poisson's ratio of the new isotropic material on the final material distribution, in an example, the Poisson's ratio of the isotropic material is specified to be zero in optimization. Numerical results show the structural topologies are different and the final topology of structure with zero-Poisson's ratio material is more reasonable.
