Abstract:To pursue practical applications of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), while the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) are continuously pushed up, defect passivation of the metal halide perovskite layer is considered an efficacious method for improving the efficiency and stability of the devices. Herein, we proposed incorporating iodine-rich CsPbI3 quantum dots (QDs) in the halide perovskite film to improve the photovoltaic performance of PSCs. Using the modified QDs enabled the reduction of the nonradiative recombination centers by passivating iodide vacancies and optimization of the energy alignment near to the perovskite/hole transport material interface. Finally, high-performance planar PSCs with an efficiency exceeding 22% and higher long-term stability (over 91% of its initial PCE after 39 days) were achieved. The Supporting Information is available free of charge at <a class="ext-link" href="/doi/10.1021/acsaem.1c00517?goto=supporting-info">https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsaem.1c00517</a>.Measurements and characterizations; Tauc plot of TMSI-CPI QDs from UV–vis absorbance spectra; XRD pattern of traditional CsPbI3 QDs; XPS spectra of Cs 3d, Pf 3d, and I 3d of TMSI-CPI QDs and Tra-CPI QDs; atomistic model of a perovskite film introduced by TMSI-CsPbI3 QDs; EDS mapping images of perovskite films loaded with modified TMSI-CPI QDs; SEM and AFM images of perovskite films with TMSI-CPI QD modification; statistics of VOC, JSC, FF, and PCE of more than 40 devices; UV–vis absorption spectra and Tauc plot of control and TMSI-CPI QD perovskite films with different concentrations; schematic energy diagram from UPS measurements with respect to the vacuum level corresponding to the control, modified by TMSI-CPI QDs, and spiro-OMeTAD; images of water droplet contact angle on the surfaces of pristine perovskite and TMSI-CPI QD-modified perovskite; content of Cs in the films with different concentrations of TMSI-CPI QDs by ICP-MS measurement; PV performance values of the control, TMSI-CPI QD-treated device, and Tra-CPI QD-treated device scanned from FS and RS directions; fitting parameters for time-resolved PL decays from the control and PMSI-CPI QD-treated perovskite films; and EIS-derived resistance, charge transfer resistance, and recombination resistance of different devices (<a class="ext-link" href="/doi/suppl/10.1021/acsaem.1c00517/suppl_file/ae1c00517_si_001.pdf">PDF</a>)This article has not yet been cited by other publications.
