Abstract:Heterostructures have attracted enormous interest due to the properties arising from the coupling and synergizing between multiscale structures and the promising applications in electronics, mechanics, and optics. However, it is challenging for current technologies to precisely integrate cross-scale micro/nanomaterials in three dimensions (3D). Herein, we realize the precise spatial allocation of nanoblocks on micromatrices and programmable 3D optical heterostructure patterning via...

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: the challenge of precisely integrating cross - scale micro - and nano - materials in three - dimensional space in current technology. Specifically, the paper proposes a method for precise spatial distribution of nano - blocks on micro - matrices and programmable 3D optical heterostructure patterning through printing - assisted self - assembly. This method combines the advantages of on - demand patterning, low cost and large - scale production of printing technology, as well as the advantages of simple construction and high - precision adjustment of solution - based colloidal assembly methods, promoting the patterned integration of multi - scale materials. In particular, by adjusting the interfacial wettability, the assembly of luminescent nanoparticles can be accurately coupled to the dye - doped polymer matrix, thereby achieving simple multi - tone tuning in a single heterostructure. Therefore, these heterostructures can be specifically encoded for anti - counterfeiting and encryption applications because their luminescence properties depend on morphology and interface coupling. Moreover, since single - nanoparticle resolution can be achieved, these findings have great potential for designing photonic superstructures and advanced optical devices.
