Abstract:We present a new potential function with an exactly solvable Ｓｃｈｒ?ｄｉｎｇｅｒ equation. At the same time, we propose a new variable transformation to show that the hyperbolic Ｐ?ｓｃｈｌ-Ｔｅｌｅｒ molecular potential is also exactly solvable. The form of the solutions is not only closed, but also very simple. The normalized wave functions are expressed by the hypergeometric series. All the results of the Hulthéｎ potential and the modified Ｐ?ｓｃｈｌ-Ｔｅｌｅｒ potential as well as the reflectionless potential in the existing literature are contained in the more general conclusions of this paper as special cases. Finally, practical applications of the potentials in this paper to diatomic molecules are discussed.
Exactly Solvable Schrödinger equations with Singularities: A Systematic Approach to Solving Complexified Potentials (part1)

Abstract:This paper gives a new perspective on how to solve the second-order linear differential equation written in normal form. Extending the argument of the potential to a complex number leads to solving exactly the Schrödinger equation when the potential is complex using the factorization method. This method leads to solving two Riccati nonlinear equations and by constructing the only possible superpotential, the factorization method gives the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in closed form for potentials satisfying the shape invariance property. Extending the potential to the complex argument has led to discovering new exactly solvable ones. In this first part, the basic superpotentials are divided into different groups, each group contains the superpotentials that share common terms. All of the already known solvable real potentials will fall into this category and are derived as special cases. This set of exactly solvable complexified potentials has already uncovered some of the properties of quantum mechanics, like the tunneling effect through the forbidden region, happening with high probabilities between multiwells, bound states in the continuum (BIC), and other properties. These results have potential applications in all fields of sciences, from physics, chemistry, biology, etc., where the eigenvalue problem plays an important role.

Abstract:A recurrence relation of Riccati-type differential equations known in supersymmetric quantum mechanics is investigated to find exactly solvable potentials. Taking some simple {\it ansätze}, we find new classes of solvable potentials as well as reproducing the known shape-invariant ones.

Abstract:We give a brief overview of a simple and unified way, called the prepotential approach, to treat both exact and quasi-exact solvabilities of the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation. It is based on the prepotential together with Bethe ansatz equations. Unlike the the supersymmetric method for the exactly-solvable systems and the Lie-algebraic approach for the quasi-exactly solvable problems, this approach does not require any knowledge of the underlying symmetry of the system. It treats both quasi-exact and exact solvabilities on the same footing. In this approach the system is completely defined by the choice of two polynomials and a set of Bethe ansatz equations. The potential, the change of variables as well as the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues are determined in the same process. We illustrate the approach by several paradigmatic examples of Hermitian and non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with real energies. Hermitian systems with complex energies, called the quasinormal modes, are also presented. Extension of the approach to the newly discovered rationally extended models is briefly discussed.

A New Solvable Generalized Trigonometric Tangent Potential Based on SUSYQM

Abstract:Supersymmetric quantum mechanics has wide applications in physics. However, there are few potentials that can be solved exactly by supersymmetric quantum mechanics methods, so it is undoubtedly of great significance to find more potentials that can be solved exactly. This paper studies the supersymmetric quantum mechanics problems of the Schrödinger equation with a new kind of generalized trigonometric tangent superpotential: Atannpx+Btanmpx. We will elaborate on this new potential in the following aspects. Firstly, the shape invariant relation of partner potential is generated by the generalized trigonometric tangent superpotential. We find three shape invariance forms that satisfy the additive condition. Secondly, the eigenvalues and the eigenwave functions of the potential are studied separately in these three cases. Thirdly, the potential algebra of such a superpotential is discussed, and the discussions are explored from two aspects: one parameter's and two parameters' potential algebra. Through the potential algebra, the eigenvalue spectrums are given separately which are consistent with those mentioned earlier. Finally, we summarize the paper and give an outlook on the two-parameter shape-invariant potential.

Abstract:Supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSYQM) plays an important role in solving the Schrödinger equation, and it is also important to find more superpotentials that can be solved accurately. On the basis of studying the characteristics of existing superpotentials, the authors find a missing superpotential and put forward a method by combining two functions to construct all existing solvable superpotentials and prove the existence of the missing superpotential. First, based on the idea of SUSYQM, this paper studies the shape invariance of the partner potentials with the form of two functions and obtains the energy spectrum in many different cases. Second, according to the results of solving differential equations satisfied by two functions, the authors not only construct most existing solvable superpotentials successfully but also generate a missing solvable superpotential. Third, for the missing solvable superpotential, some discussions are made, such as the corresponding partner potentials, energy spectrum, ground state wave function, and excited state wave functions. Lastly, the summary is made, and the prospects are projected.

Abstract:Potentials play an important role in solving boundary value problems for elliptic equations. In the middle of the last century, a potential theory was constructed for a two‐dimensional elliptic equation with one singular coefficient. In the study of potentials, the properties of the fundamental solutions of the given equation are essentially and fruitfully used. At the present time, fundamental solutions of a multidimensional elliptic equation with one degeneration line are already known. In this paper, we investigate the double‐ and simple‐layer potentials for this kind of elliptic equations. Results from potential theory allow us to represent the solution of the boundary value problems in the form of an integral equation. By using some properties of the Gaussian hypergeometric function, we first prove limiting theorems and derive integral equations concerning the densities of the double‐ and simple‐layer potentials. The obtained results are then applied in order to find an explicit solution of the Holmgren problem for the multidimensional singular elliptic equation in the half of the ball.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the existence of solutions to the N-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation −ε2Δu+V(x)u=K(x)up with u(x)>0, u∈H1(RN), N⩾3 and 1<p<N+2N−2. When the potential V(x) decays at infinity faster than (1+|x|)−2 and K(x)⩾0 is permitted to be unbounded, we will show that the positive H1(RN)-solutions exist if it is assumed that G(x) has local minimum points for small ε>0, here G(x)=Vθ(x)K−2p−1(x) with θ=p+1p−1−N2 denotes the ground energy function which is introduced in [X. Wang, B. Zeng, On concentration of positive bound states of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with competing potential functions, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 28 (1997) 633–655]. In addition, when the potential V(x) decays to zero at most like (1+|x|)−α with 0<α⩽2, we also discuss the existence of positive H1(RN)-solutions for unbounded K(x). Compared with some previous papers [A. Ambrosetti, A. Malchiodi, D. Ruiz, Bound states of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with potentials vanishing at infinity, J. Anal. Math. 98 (2006) 317–348; A. Wang, Nonlinear Schrödinger equations with vanishing and decaying potentials, Differential Integral Equations 18 (2005) 1321–1332] and so on, we remove the restrictions on the potential function V(x) which decays at infinity like (1+|x|)−α with 0<α⩽2 as well as the restrictions on the boundedness of K(x)>0. Therefore, we partly answer a question posed in the reference [A. Ambrosetti, A. Malchiodi, Concentration phenomena for NLS: Recent results and new perspectives, preprint, 2006].
Numerical Methods for the Wigner Equation with Unbounded Potential

Abstract:Unbounded potentials are always utilized to strictly confine quantum dynamics and generate bound or stationary states due to the existence of quantum tunneling. However, the existed accurate Wigner solvers are often designed for either localized potentials or those of the polynomial type. This paper attempts to solve the time-dependent Wigner equation in the presence of a general class of unbounded potentials by exploiting two equivalent forms of the pseudo-differential operator: integral form and series form (i.e., the Moyal expansion). The unbounded parts at infinities are approximated or modeled by polynomials and then a remaining localized potential dominates the central area. The fact that the Moyal expansion reduces to a finite series for polynomial potentials is fully utilized. In order to accurately resolve both the pseudo-differential operator and the linear differential operator, a spectral collocation scheme for the phase space and an explicit fourth-order Runge–Kutta time discretization are adopted. We are able to prove that the resulting full discrete spectral scheme conserves both mass and energy. Several typical quantum systems are simulated with a high accuracy and reliable estimation of macroscopically measurable quantities is thus obtained.
On the Exact Solutions for a Type of Nonlinear Schrödinger Equations with a Harmonic Potential

Abstract:The nonlinear Schrödinger equation with harmonic potential (NLSE) plays an important role in quantum mechanics, so the exact solutions of this equation is studied in this paper. The NLSE is transformed into the classical nonlinear Schrödinger equation by a new class of traveling wave transformation. Next, the problem of exact solutions is changed into the solutions of ordinary differential equation (ODE) by the method of undetermined function. Then, through low-order sub-ODE method and hyperbolic function method, we get two class of solutions of the ODEs. Finally, a series of new exact solutions of the NLSE are obtained. Meanwhile the related numerical simulations are presented.

Each potential is a sum of the generalized Cornell and an exponential potential. The radial equation is turned to the biconfluent Heun equation. The energy values are obtained explicitly. For given values of the parameters Schrödinger equation approximate eigensolutions are established.

Abstract:We give two conditionally exactly solvable inverse power law potentials whose linearly independent solutions include a sum of two confluent hypergeometric functions. We notice that they are partner potentials and multiplicative shape invariant. The method used to find the solutions works with the two Schrodinger equations of the partner potentials. Furthermore we study some of the properties of these potentials.

Abstract:We obtain exact solutions to the class of parabolic partial differential equations of arbitrary dimensionality and with arbitrary potentials. The solutions are presented in a compact-form: as explicit mathematical expressions consisting of finite number of standard mathematical operations with finite (condition-independent) number of variables in a discrete or continous region of consideration. The general approach to obtain the compact-form solutions combines a number of methods in the fields of partial differential equations, enumerative combinatorics, and number theory, which we describe in detail. We discuss their advantages and perspectives for the various fields in physics, mathematics, and advanced calculus.

Abstract:In this paper, we focus on the existence and concentration of positive solutions to the following nonlinear Schrödinger equations with critical or subcritical exponents in $\Bbb R^2$: $-\varepsilon^2\triangle u_{\varepsilon}+V(x)u_{\varepsilon}=K(x) |u_{\varepsilon}|^{p-2}u_{\varepsilon}e^{\alpha_{0}|u_{\varepsilon}| ^{\gamma}},\ x\in\Bbb R^2; u_{\varepsilon}>0,\ u_{\varepsilon}\in H^1(\Bbb R^2),$ where $p>2$, $\alpha_{0}>0$, $V(x), K(x)>0$, $0<\gamma\le 2$, and $\varepsilon>0$ is a small constant. When the potential $V(x)$ decays at infinity like $(1+|x|)^{-\alpha}$ with $0<\alpha\le 2$ and $K(x)> 0$ is permitted to be unbounded under some necessary restrictions, we will show that at least one positive $H^1(\Bbb R^2)$-solution exists if it is assumed that the related ground energy function $G(\xi)$ of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation $ -\triangle u+V(\xi)u=K(\xi) |u|^{p-2}ue^{\alpha_{0}|u|^{\gamma}}$ has local minimum points. Meanwhile, the concentration property of $u_{\varepsilon}$ is also established as $\varepsilon$ tends to zero.
A singular Lambert-W Schrödinger potential exactly solvable in terms of the confluent hypergeometric functions

Abstract:We introduce two potentials explicitly given by the Lambert-W function for which the exact solution of the one-dimensional stationary Schrödinger equation is written through the first derivative of a double-confluent Heun function. One of these potentials is a singular potential that behaves as the inverse square root in the vicinity of the origin and vanishes exponentially at the infinity. The exact solution of the Schrödinger equation for this potential is given through fundamental solutions each of which presents an irreducible linear combination of two confluent hypergeometric functions. Since the potential is effectively a short-range one it supports only a finite number of bound states.

Abstract:By considering the Dirichlet boundary condition $x(0)=x(1)=0$, we say that $q\in L^{1}[0,1]$ is a non-degenerate potential if the ordinary differential equation $x''+q(t) x=0$ has only the trivial solution $x(t)\equiv0$ which verifies the boundary condition. Starting with a non-degenerate positive constant potential B, in this paper, we will apply the Pontryagin maximum principle (PMP) in optimal control theory to find the optimal bound $r=r(A,B)$ for any $A\in[-\infty,B)$ such that any potential $q\in L^{1}[0,1]$ satisfying $A\le q \le B$ and $\int_{[0,1]} q(t)\,dt >r(A,B)$ is necessarily non-degenerate. Such a non-degeneracy problem can be considered as the dual problem in a series of papers by Li et al.
Quasi-exactly solvable potentials in Wigner-Dunkl quantum mechanics

Abstract:It is shown that the Dunkl harmonic oscillator on the line can be generalized to a quasi-exactly solvable one, which is an anharmonic oscillator with $n+1$ known eigenstates for any $n\in \N$. It is also proved that the Hamiltonian of the latter can also be rewritten in a simpler way in terms of an extended Dunkl derivative. Furthermore, the Dunkl isotropic oscillator and Dunkl Coulomb potentials in the plane are generalized to quasi-exactly solvable ones. In the former case, potentials with $n+1$ known eigenstates are obtained, whereas, in the latter, sets of $n+1$ potentials associated with a given energy are derived.
