Abstract:Supersymmetric quantum mechanics has wide applications in physics. However, there are few potentials that can be solved exactly by supersymmetric quantum mechanics methods, so it is undoubtedly of great significance to find more potentials that can be solved exactly. This paper studies the supersymmetric quantum mechanics problems of the Schrödinger equation with a new kind of generalized trigonometric tangent superpotential: Atannpx+Btanmpx. We will elaborate on this new potential in the following aspects. Firstly, the shape invariant relation of partner potential is generated by the generalized trigonometric tangent superpotential. We find three shape invariance forms that satisfy the additive condition. Secondly, the eigenvalues and the eigenwave functions of the potential are studied separately in these three cases. Thirdly, the potential algebra of such a superpotential is discussed, and the discussions are explored from two aspects: one parameter's and two parameters' potential algebra. Through the potential algebra, the eigenvalue spectrums are given separately which are consistent with those mentioned earlier. Finally, we summarize the paper and give an outlook on the two-parameter shape-invariant potential.

Abstract:Supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSYQM) plays an important role in solving the Schrödinger equation, and it is also important to find more superpotentials that can be solved accurately. On the basis of studying the characteristics of existing superpotentials, the authors find a missing superpotential and put forward a method by combining two functions to construct all existing solvable superpotentials and prove the existence of the missing superpotential. First, based on the idea of SUSYQM, this paper studies the shape invariance of the partner potentials with the form of two functions and obtains the energy spectrum in many different cases. Second, according to the results of solving differential equations satisfied by two functions, the authors not only construct most existing solvable superpotentials successfully but also generate a missing solvable superpotential. Third, for the missing solvable superpotential, some discussions are made, such as the corresponding partner potentials, energy spectrum, ground state wave function, and excited state wave functions. Lastly, the summary is made, and the prospects are projected.

Abstract:This paper gives a new perspective on how to solve the second-order linear differential equation written in normal form. Extending the argument of the potential to a complex number leads to solving exactly the Schrödinger equation when the potential is complex using the factorization method. This method leads to solving two Riccati nonlinear equations and by constructing the only possible superpotential, the factorization method gives the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in closed form for potentials satisfying the shape invariance property. Extending the potential to the complex argument has led to discovering new exactly solvable ones. In this first part, the basic superpotentials are divided into different groups, each group contains the superpotentials that share common terms. All of the already known solvable real potentials will fall into this category and are derived as special cases. This set of exactly solvable complexified potentials has already uncovered some of the properties of quantum mechanics, like the tunneling effect through the forbidden region, happening with high probabilities between multiwells, bound states in the continuum (BIC), and other properties. These results have potential applications in all fields of sciences, from physics, chemistry, biology, etc., where the eigenvalue problem plays an important role.

Supersymmetric Quantum Potentials Analogs of Classical Electrostatic Fields

Abstract:A relation between classical electrostatic fields and Schrödinger-like Hamiltonians is evidenced. Hence, supersymmetric quantum potentials analogous to classical electrostatic fields can be constructed. Proposing an ansatz for the electrostatic potential as the natural logarithm of a nodeless function, it is demonstrated that the electrostatic fields fulfil the Bernoulli equation associated to a second-order confluent supersymmetric transformation. By using the so-called confluent algorithm, it is possible, given a charge density, to find the corresponding electrostatic field as well as the supersymmetric potentials. Furthermore, the associated charge density and the electrostatic field profile of Schrödinger-like solvable potentials can be determined.

Classification of superpotentials for cohomogeneity one Ricci solitons

Abstract:We classify superpotentials for the Hamiltonian system corresponding to the cohomogeneity one gradient Ricci soliton equations. Aside from recovering known examples of superpotentials for steady solitons, we find a new superpotential on a specific case of the Bérard-Bergery-Calabi ansatz. The latter is used to obtain an explicit formula for a steady complete soliton with an equidistant family of hypersurfaces given by circle bundles over $S^2\times S^2$. There are no superpotentials in the non-steady case in dimensions greater than 2, even if polynomial coefficients are allowed. We also briefly discuss generalised first integrals and the limitations of some known methods of finding them.

Abstract:Supersymmetric quantum mechanics provides a powerful method for solving the Schrödinger equation in quantum mechanics problems. In this paper, a hyperbolic tangent superpotential is generalized according to a new hyperbolic tangent superpotential. Shape invariances of partner potentials of the generalized superpotential with additive partner potential are derived based on supersymmetric quantum mechanics. Their coefficient-dependent eigenfunctions and eigenvalues have been calculated according to those potentials. It is found that only the ground state exists when one of the two parameters satisfies additivity. But if the two parameters meet additivity, the number of excited states has an upper limit, then the energy levels are finite. These potentials increase the number of exactly solvable potentials and could be used as good models in quantum physics, atomic physics, mathematical physics, etc. Moreover, the consistent eigenvalues are obtained through the potential algebra method.

Abstract:We give a brief overview of a simple and unified way, called the prepotential approach, to treat both exact and quasi-exact solvabilities of the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation. It is based on the prepotential together with Bethe ansatz equations. Unlike the the supersymmetric method for the exactly-solvable systems and the Lie-algebraic approach for the quasi-exactly solvable problems, this approach does not require any knowledge of the underlying symmetry of the system. It treats both quasi-exact and exact solvabilities on the same footing. In this approach the system is completely defined by the choice of two polynomials and a set of Bethe ansatz equations. The potential, the change of variables as well as the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues are determined in the same process. We illustrate the approach by several paradigmatic examples of Hermitian and non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with real energies. Hermitian systems with complex energies, called the quasinormal modes, are also presented. Extension of the approach to the newly discovered rationally extended models is briefly discussed.

Abstract:An algorithm for providing analytical solutions to Schrödinger's equation with non-exactly solvable potentials is elaborated. It represents a symbiosis between the logarithmic expansion method and the techniques of the superymmetric quantum mechanics as extended toward non shape invariant potentials. The complete solution to a given Hamiltonian $H_{0}$ is obtained from the nodeless states of the Hamiltonian $H_{0}$ and of a set of supersymmetric partners $H_{1}, H_{2},..., H_{r}$. The nodeless states (dubbed "edge" states) are unique and in general can be ground or excited states. They are solved using the logarithmic expansion which yields an infinite systems of coupled first order hierarchical differential equations, converted later into algebraic equations with recurrence relations which can be solved order by order. We formulate the aforementioned scheme, termed to as "Supersymmetric Expansion Algorithm'' step by step and apply it to obtain for the first time the complete analytical solutions of the three dimensional Hulthén--, and the one-dimensional anharmonic oscillator potentials.

Abstract:We consider a family of extensions of the Kepler-Coulomb potential on a $d$-dimensional sphere and analyze it in a deformed supersymmetric framework, wherein the starting potential is known to exhibit a deformed shape invariance property. We show that the members of the extended family are also endowed with such a property, provided some constraint conditions relating the potential parameters are satisfied, in other words they are conditionally deformed shape invariant. Since, in the second step of the construction of a partner potential hierarchy, the constraint conditions change, we impose compatibility conditions between the two sets to build quasi-exactly solvable potentials with known ground and first-excited states. Some explicit results are obtained for the first three members of the family. We then use a generating function method, wherein the first two superpotentials, the first two partner potentials, and the first two eigenstates of the starting potential are built from some generating function $W_+(r)$ [and its accompanying function $W_-(r)$]. From the results obtained for the latter for the first three family members, we propose some formulas for $W_{\pm}(r)$ valid for the $m$th family member, depending on $m+1$ constants $a_0$, $a_1$, \ldots, $a_m$. Such constants satisfy a system of $m+1$ linear equations. Solving the latter allows us to extend the results up to the seventh family member and then to formulate a conjecture giving the general structure of the $a_i$ constants in terms of the parameters of the problem.

Abstract:Semiclassical methods are essential in analyzing quantum mechanical systems. Although they generally produce approximate results, relatively rare potentials exist for which these methods are exact. Such intriguing potentials serve as crucial test cases for semiclassical approximations. Recent research has demonstrated a deep connection between supersymmetric quantum mechanics and the exactness of semiclassical methods. Specifically, the mathematical form of conventional shape-invariant potentials guarantees exactness in several related situations. In this manuscript, we review these recent results and discuss their significance.

Abstract:The Schrödinger equation $\psi"(x)+\kappa^2 \psi(x)=0$ where $\kappa^2=k^2-V(x)$ is rewritten as a more popular form of a second order differential equation through taking a similarity transformation $\psi(z)=\phi(z)u(z)$ with $z=z(x)$. The Schrödinger invariant $I_{S}(x)$ can be calculated directly by the Schwarzian derivative $\{z, x\}$ and the invariant $I(z)$ of the differential equation $u_{zz}+f(z)u_{z}+g(z)u=0$. We find an important relation for moving particle as $\nabla^2=-I_{S}(x)$ and thus explain the reason why the Schrödinger invariant $I_{S}(x)$ keeps constant. As an illustration, we take the typical Heun differential equation as an object to construct a class of soluble potentials and generalize the previous results through choosing different $\rho=z'(x)$ as before. We get a more general solution $z(x)$ through integrating $(z')^2=\alpha_{1}z^2+\beta_{1}z+\gamma_{1}$ directly and it includes all possibilities for those parameters. Some particular cases are discussed in detail.

Abstract:The transformations of supersymmetric quantum mechanics are discussed within a formalism that employs a six-parameter function, from which the superpotential and the supersymmetric partner potentials V−(x) and V+(x) are constructed in a general form. By specific choice of the parameters, V−(x) and V+(x) are matched with the general form of PI class potentials and their rationally extended versions. The choice of the parameters also determines which of the four possible SUSY transformations Ti, i=1,...4 is in effect. After this general discussion, the formulae are specified to the three members of this potential class, the Scarf I, Scarf II and generalized Pöschl–Teller potentials. Due to the different domains of definition and their consequences on the boundary conditions, the results turn out to be rather diverse for the three potentials, while the mathematical formalism and the network of the potentials interconnected by the SUSYQM transformations still remains common to a large extent. The general framework allows a unified and consistent interpretation of earlier isolated findings. It also helps to connect the results to further potential classes and to place them into a more general context within the zoo of exactly solvable potentials.

Study on a Quantization Condition and the Solvability of Schrödinger-type Equations

Abstract:In this thesis, we study a quantization condition in relation to the solvability of Schrödinger equations. This quantization condition is called the SWKB (supersymmetric Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin) quantization condition and has been known in the context of supersymmetric quantum mechanics for decades. The main contents of this thesis are recapitulated as follows: the foundation and the application of the SWKB quantization condition. The first half of this thesis aims to understand the fundamental implications of this condition based on extensive case studies. It turns out that the exactness of the SWKB quantization condition indicates the exact solvability of a system via the classical orthogonal polynomials. The SWKB quantization condition provides quantizations of energy, which we call the direct problem of the SWKB. We formulate the inverse problem of the SWKB: the problem of determining the superpotential from a given energy spectrum. The formulation successfully reconstructs all conventional shape-invariant potentials from the given energy spectra. We further construct novel solvable potentials, which are classical-orthogonal-polynomially quasi-exactly solvable, by this formulation. We further demonstrate several explicit solutions of the Schrödinger equations with the classical-orthogonal-polynomially quasi-exactly solvable potentials, whose family is referred to as a harmonic oscillator with singularity functions in this thesis. In one case, the energy spectra become isospectral, with several additional eigenstates, to the ordinary harmonic oscillator for special choices of a parameter. By virtue of this, we formulate a systematic way of constructing infinitely many potentials that are strictly isospectral to the ordinary harmonic oscillator.

Abstract:We construct a supersymmetric quantum mechanical model in which the energy eigenvalues of the Hamiltonians are the products of Riemann zeta functions. We show that the trivial and nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function naturally correspond to the vanishing ground state energies in this model. The model provides a natural form of supersymmetry.

Abstract:We construct a general supersymmetric quantum transformation for studying the supersymmetric quadratic Hamiltonian which contains the interaction of multi-mode fermions with multi-mode bosons. The Hamiltonian can be derived from that of multi-mode radiation field interacting with m two-level atoms. By using the supersymmetric quantum transformation, the diagonolized Hamiltonian is given. We also concisely derive the analytic expression of the super-partition function for the supersymmetric quadratic Hamiltonian without knowing the energy spectrum.
