Abstract:Glass/hot-meltable/aramid fiber wet-laid felts (GHAFs) endowed a unique sandwich structure by varying the hot-rolling temperature and duration. This work was aimed at investigating the effect of treatment parameters on acoustic property, thermal conductivity, and mechanical performance. The results demonstrated that sample (170-60) hot-rolling at 170 degrees C for 60 min exhibited outstanding mechanical performance, with tensile strength and burst strength reaching 143.13 kPa and 57.4 N, respectively. Sample 170-90 showed excellent acoustic performance with the highest sound transmission loss of 14.187 dB. The reason was that dense-loose-dense structure was formed due to hot-rolling. In addition, the lowest thermal conductivity of GHAFs was 0.0317 W/(mk), the increase of hot-rolling temperature and duration would lead to a decline in insulation performance. GHAFs sandwich structure, which precisely combines the excellent merits of a panel and felt materials, could be widely used in many fields, such as transportation, architecture, and aerospace.
