Abstract:We use adiabatic limits to study foliated manifolds. The Bott connection naturally shows up as the adiabatic limit of Levi-Civita connections. As an application, we then construct certain natural elliptic operators associated to the foliation and present a direct geometric proof of a vanshing theorem of Connes[Co], which extends the Lichnerowicz vanishing theorem [L] to foliated manifolds with spin leaves, for what we call almost Riemannian foliations. Several new vanishing theorems are also proved by using our method.

Abstract:We prove several vanishing theorems for a class of generalized elliptic genera on foliated manifolds, by using classical equivariant index theory. The main techniques are the use of the Jacobi theta-functions and the construction of a new class of elliptic operators associated to foliations.

Abstract:Let $X$ be an $n$-dimensional complex Fano manifolds $(n\geq 3)$. Assume that $X$ contains a divisor $A$, which is isomorphic to a rational homogeneous space with Picard number one, such that the conormal bundle $\mathscr{N}^*_{A/X}$ is ample over $A$. Building on the works of Tsukioka, Watanabe and Casagrande-Druel, we give a complete classification of such pairs $(X,A)$.

Abstract:In this paper we study the algebraic ranks of foliations on $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial normal projective varieties. We start by establishing a Kobayashi-Ochiai's theorem for Fano foliations in terms of algebraic rank. We then investigate the local positivity of the anti-canonical divisors of foliations, obtaining a lower bound for the algebraic rank of a foliation in terms of Seshadri constant. We describe those foliations whose algebraic rank slightly exceeds this bound and classify Fano foliations on smooth projective varieties attaining this bound. Finally we construct several examples to illustrate the general situation, which in particular allow us to answer a question asked by Araujo and Druel on the generalised indices of foliations.

Abstract:We give a simple criterion for slope stability of Fano manifolds $X$ along divisors or smooth subvarieties. As an application, we show that $X$ is slope stable along an ample effective divisor $D\subset X$ unless $X$ is isomorphic to a projective space and $D$ is a hyperplane section. We also give counterexamples to Aubin's conjecture on the relation between the anticanonical volume and the existence of a Kähler-Einstein metric. Finally, we consider the case that $\dim X=3$; we give a complete answer for slope (semi)stability along divisors of Fano threefolds.

Abstract:In this paper we aim at the description of foliations having tangent sheaf $T\mathcal F$ with $c_1(T\mathcal F)=c_2(T\mathcal F)=0$ on non-uniruled projective manifolds. We prove that the universal covering of the ambient manifold splits as a product, and that the Zariski closure of a general leaf of $\mathcal F$ is an Abelian variety. It turns out that the analytic type of the Zariski closures of leaves may vary from leaf to leaf. We discuss how this variation is related to arithmetic properties of the tangent sheaf of the foliation.

Abstract:We present an extension of several results on pairs and varieties to foliated surface pairs. We prove the boundedness of local complements, the local index theorem, and the uniform boundedness of minimal log discrepancies (mlds), as well as establishing the existence of uniform rational lc polytopes. Furthermore, we address two questions posed by P. Cascini and C. Spicer on foliations, providing negative responses. We also demonstrate that the Grauert-Riemenschneider type vanishing theorem generally fails for lc foliations on surfaces. In addition, we determine the set of minimal log discrepancies for foliated surface pairs with specific coefficients, which leads to the recovery of Y.-A. Chen's proof on the ascending chain condition conjecture for mlds for foliated surfaces.

Abstract:We investigate the structure of the $p$-divisor for the Jouanolou foliation where we show, under some conditions, that it can be irreducible or has a $p$-factor. We study the reduction modulo $p$ of foliations on the projective plane and its applications to the problems of holomorphic foliations. We give new proof, via reduction modulo $2$, of the fact that the Jouanolou foliation on the complex projective plane of odd degree, under some arithmetic conditions, has no algebraic solutions.

Abstract:This is the first part of our work on Zariski decomposition structures, where we study Zariski decompositions using Legendre–Fenchel type transforms. In this way we define a Zariski decomposition for curve classes. This decomposition enables us to develop the theory of the volume function for curves defined by the second named author, yielding some fundamental positivity results for curve classes. For varieties with special structures, the Zariski decomposition for curve classes admits an interesting geometric interpretation.

Abstract:We investigate the structure of geometrically ruled surfaces whose anti-canonical class is big. As an application we show that the Picard group of a normal projective surface whose anti-canonical class is nef and big is a free abelian group of finite rank.

Abstract:For $\mathbb Q$-factorial klt algebraically integrable adjoint foliated structures, we prove the cone theorem, the contraction theorem, and the existence of flips. Therefore, we deduce the existence of the minimal model program for such structures. We also prove the base-point-freeness theorem for such structures of general type and establish an adjunction formula and the existence of $\mathbb Q$-factorial quasi-dlt modifications for algebraically integrable adjoint foliated structures.

Abstract: It is conjectured that the moduli b-divisor of the Kawamata-Kodaira canonical bundle formula associated to a klt-trivial fibration $(X,B)\to Z$ is semi-ample. In this paper, we show the semi-ampleness of an arbitrarily small perturbation of the moduli b-divisor by a fixed appropriate divisor which roughly speaking comes from a section of $K_X+B$. We apply the above result to settle a conjecture of Fujino and Gongyo: if $f\colon X\to Z$ is a smooth surjective morphism of smooth projective varieties with $-K_X$ semi-ample, then $-K_Z$ is also semi-ample. We list several counter-examples to show that this fails without the smoothness assumption on $f$.

Abstract:If $\mathcal{F}$ is a corank one foliation on a $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial normal projective threefold and $\Delta \geq 0$ a $\mathbb{Q}$-divisor on $X$ such that $(\mathcal{F}, \Delta)$ is foliated log canonical and $(X, \Delta)$ is klt, we show that $K_{\mathcal{F}} +\Delta$ admits a minimal model or a Mori fiber space. In case $(\mathcal{F}, \Delta)$ is boundary polarized and $K_{\mathcal{F}}+ \Delta$ is pseudoeffective, the minimal model is good. We also apply our results to study the relation between different minimal models, namely, any two minimal models of a given foliated log canonical pair can be connected by a sequence of flops and in the boundary polarized case, the minimal models are only finitely many in number.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop canonical bundle formulas for fibrations of relative dimension one in characteristic $p>0$. For such a fibration from a log pair $f\colon (X, \Delta) \to S$, if $f$ is separable, we can obtain a formula similar to the one due to Witaszek \cite{Wit21}; if $f$ is inseparable, we treat the case when $S$ is of maximal Albanese dimension. As an application, we prove that for a klt pair $(X,\Delta)$ with $-(K_X+\Delta)$ nef, if the Albanese morphism $a_X\colon X \to A$ is of relative dimension one, then $X$ is a fiber space over $A$.
