Abstract:For every r is an element of N->= 2 boolean OR {infinity} , we prove a C (R) -orbit connecting lemma for dynamically coherent and plaque expansive partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms with one-dimensional orientation preserving center bundle. To be precise, for such a diffeomorphism f, if a point y is chain attainable from x through pseudo-orbits, then for any neighborhood U of x and any neighborhood V of y, there exist true orbits from U to V by arbitrarily C (R) -small perturbations. As a consequence, we prove that for C-r -generic diffeomorphisms in this class, periodic points are dense in the chain recurrent set, and chain transitivity implies transitivity.

Abstract:We construct a family of partially hyperbolic skew-product diffeomorphisms on T-3 that are robustly transitive and admitting two physical measures with intermingled basins. In particularly, all these diffeomorphisms are not topologically mixing. Moreover, for every such example, it exhibits a dichotomy under perturbation: every perturbation of such example either has a unique physical measure and is robustly topologically mixing, or has two physical measures with intermingled basins.

Abstract:We prove the transitivity of real Anosov diffeomorphisms, which are Anosov diffeomorphisms where stable and unstable spaces decompose into a continuous sum of invariant one-dimensional sub-spaces with uniform contraction/expansion over the ambient manifold. We analyze how the stable/unstable holonomies of Anosov diffeomorphisms behave on Artigue's self-similar hyperbolic metric and prove that if a stable/unstable curve has a well-defined length in a self-similar hyperbolic metric, then it has a globally defined holonomy. We exhibit a self-similar hyperbolic metric with well-defined length of curves for each real Anosov diffeomorphism.

Abstract:We give three equivalent conditions for non-accessibility of an Anosov diffeomorphism on the 3-torus with a partially hyperbolic splitting. Abstract:Let $f$ be a non-invertible partially hyperbolic endomorphism on $\mathbb{T}^2$ which is derived from a non-expanding Anosov endomorphism. Differing from the case of diffeomorphisms derived from Anosov automorphisms, there is no a priori semi-conjugacy between $f$ and its linearization on $\mathbb{T}^2$. We show that $f$ is semi-conjugate to its linearization if and only if $f$ admits the partially hyperbolic splitting with two $Df$-invariant subbundles. Moreover, if we assume that $f$ has the unstable subbundle, then the semi-conjugacy is exactly a topological conjugacy, and the center Lyapunov exponents of periodic points of $f$ coincide and equal to the stable Lyapunov exponent of its linearization. In particular, $f$ is an Anosov endomorphism and the conjugacy is smooth along the stable foliation. For the case that $f$ has the stable subbundle, there is still some rigidity on its stable Lyapunov exponents. However, we also give examples which admit the partially hyperbolic splitting with the center subbundle but the semi-conjugacy is indeed non-injective. Finally, We present some applications for the conservative case. In particular, we show that if $f$ is volume-preserving and semi-conjugate to its linear part, then the semi-conjugacy is actually a smooth conjugacy.

Abstract:In this paper, we study transitivity of partially hyperbolic endomorphisms of the two torus whose action in the first homology group has two integer eigenvalues of moduli greater than one. We prove that if the Jacobian is everywhere greater than the modulus of the largest eigenvalue, then the map is robustly transitive. For this, we introduce Blichfedt's theorem as a tool for extracting dynamical information from the action of a map in homology. We also treat the case of specially partially hyperbolic endomorphisms, for which we obtain a complete dichotomy: either the map is transitive and conjugated to its linear part, or its unstable foliation must contain an annulus which may either be wandering or periodic.

Abstract:We show that if a hyperbolic 3-manifold admits a partially hyperbolic diffeomorphism then it also admits an Anosov flow. Moreover, we give a complete classification of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphism in hyperbolic 3-manifolds as well as partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms in Seifert manifolds inducing pseudo-Anosov dynamics in the base. This classification is given in terms of the structure of their center (branching) foliations and the notion of collapsed Anosov flows.

Abstract:In this paper we construct some "pathological" volume preserving partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms on $\toro{3}$ such that their behaviour in small scales in the central direction (Lyapunov exponent) is opposite to the behavior of their linearization. These examples are isotopic to Anosov. We also get partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms isotopic to Anosov (consequently with non-compact central leaves) with zero central Lyapunov exponent at almost every point.

Abstract:In this note we show that all partially hyperbolic automorphisms on a 3-dimensional non-Abelian nilmanifold can be C1-approximated by structurally stable C∞-diffeomorphisms, whose chain recurrent set consists of one attractor and one repeller. In particular, all these partially hyperbolic automorphisms are not robustly transitive. As a corollary, the holonomy maps of the stable and unstable foliations of the approximating diffeomorphisms are twisted quasiperiodically forced circle homeomorphisms, which are transitive but non-minimal and satisfy certain fiberwise regularity properties.

Abstract:In this paper, we study transitive partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms with one-dimensional topologically neutral center, meaning that the length of the iterate of small center segments remains small. Such systems are dynamically coherent. We show that there exists a continuous metric along the center foliation which is invariant under the dynamics. As an application, we classify the transitive partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms on 3-manifolds with topologically neutral center.

Abstract:We derive a necessary and sufficient condition for an $\Omega-$stable diffeomorphism to be a topologically transitive Anosov diffeomorphism: to exhibit a nonempty intersection of the stable and unstable manifolds of any pair of periodic orbits. To elucidate its dynamical nature, we compare this condition with other properties known to be sufficient for an Anosov diffeomorphism to be topologically transitive. We also describe the $C^1$ interior of the set of diffeomorphisms which comply with this condition, discuss examples with a variety of dynamics and present some applications of interest.

Abstract:We consider the space of -diffeomorphims of a three dimensional closed manifold equipped with the -topology. It is known that there are open sets in which -generic diffeomorphisms display uncountably many chain recurrence classes, while only countably many of them may contain periodic orbits. The classes without periodic orbits, called aperiodic classes, are the main subject of this paper. The aim of the paper is to show that aperiodic classes of -generic diffeomorphisms can exhibit a variety of topological properties. More specifically, there are -generic diffeomorphisms with (1) minimal expansive aperiodic classes, (2) minimal but non-uniquely ergodic aperiodic classes, (3) transitive but non-minimal aperiodic classes, (4) non-transitive, uniquely ergodic aperiodic classes.
