Abstract:Mn modified ZSM-5 zeolites has attracted considerable attention in selective catalytic reduction of NOx emitted from flue gas of industry because of its excellent low-temperature catalytic activity. However, the inferior sulfur resistance and the uncertain state of the active sites have remained unresolved to date. Here, a Mn/HZSM-5 catalyst prepared by wet impregnation method with various content of manganese was proposed for removing NOx from flue gas of industry. The relationship between NH3-SCR performance and valence state of Mn is revealed via XRD, BET, FT-IR, XPS and H2-TPR characterizations. The coexistence of high-dispersed Mn3+ and Mn4+ have been identified as the primary factor for the promotion of low-temperature reaction cycle. In addition, a novel catalyst coupling the adsorbent (Ce-doped TiO2) and Mn/HZSM-5 with distinct Mn loading in a tandem fashion was designed. Therein the presence of adsorbent effectively avoided the direct contact of SO2 with the Mn/HZSM-5 by preferentially trapping SO2 to form the sulfate on the surface of adsorbent due to the proximity in millimeter-scale with a 160 h of duration time compared to the other representative protection modes, thereby significantly protecting the active Mn species in ZSM-5 from SO2 poisoning. As a result, the tandem fashion with the coupling of adsorbent and 20Mn/HZSM-5 in millimeter-scale proximity exhibit superior deNOx performance and excellent SO2 resistance. This study provides a promising approach for efficient deNOx in the presence of SO2 toward the green development goal.
