Abstract:In the conventional direct torque control system, the stator flux can't be identified accurately because of the influence of stator resistance and the calculation of pure integral. In addition, the speed sensor has its deficiency. This paper deals with these problems and presents a new method. The accurate stator and rotor flux of full speed range is obtained by adopting new flux observer, and based on it, the motor speed is identified by adopting neural network. By using of this method, the accurate flux target value is acquired as well as the NN becomes simpler and needs no off-line training. After the motor is operated, by means of simple and fast calculation, the NN can learn online and obtain correct identification results. In the end, the experimental results are presented.

Abstract:Applications of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) are limited due to their high torque ripple that caused by the doubly salient motor structure and unbalanced electromagnetic torque. In this paper, two methods are presented to eliminate the torque ripple, including direct torque control (DTC) method and torque sharing function (TSF) strategy. The fundamental theories of the two control schemes are analyzed in detail and their schematic diagrams are illustrated for comparison. To verify and compare the two control methods, the simulations of the motor system based on a 150 W, three-phase 12/8-pole SRM are carried out by employing an asymmetrical half-bridge converter topology. The results show that the actual torque can track the reference torque quickly and the torque ripple can be reduced effectively. The responses to changes of load torque and speed are also discussed in this paper. From the comparisons, it shows that the TSF method can produce more smooth torque for torque ripple reduction without prior-knowledge of the flux characteristics of the motor.

Abstract:The traditional direct torque control system of permanent magnet synchronous motor has many problems, such as large torque ripple and variable switching frequency. In order to improve the dynamic and static performance of the control system, a new torque control idea and speed sensorless control scheme are proposed in this paper. First, by deriving the equation of torque change rate, an improved torque controller is designed to replace the torque hysteresis controller of the traditional direct torque control. The improved direct torque control strategy can significantly reduce the torque ripple and keep the switching frequency constant. Then, based on the improved direct torque control and considering the sensitivity of the stator resistance to temperature change, a speed estimator based on the model reference adaptive method is designed. This method realizes the stator resistance on-line identification and further improves the control precision of the system. The performance of the traditional direct torque control and the improved direct torque control are compared by simulation and experiment under different operating conditions. The simulation and experimental results are presented to support the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method.
A New Reactive Power-Based Sensorless Control Strategy For Five-Phase Induction Motor With Non-Sinusoidal Power Supply

Abstract:In order to avoid effects of the variation of stator resistance and error caused by integral computation in the traditional speed-sensorless vector control, a reactive power-based sensorless control strategy for the five-phase induction motors(IM) with non-sinusoidal power supply is investigated. The proposed method uses instantaneous and steady-state reactive power value as the reference model and adjustable model to estimate speed. Both reference and adjustable model do not require stator resistance and flux estimation. This method improves the control accuracy and transient response performance of the five-phase motor system. Moreover, non-sinusoidal power supply technique is also adopted to improve the iron utilization and torque density of the five-phase IM system. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is confirmed by laboratory prototype experimentation using the dspace-1104 based controller.

Abstract:This paper presents a practical improvement to the conventional stator flux estimator for digital direct torque control of induction motor, in which the predictive torque control is adapted to decrease the torque ripple. In addition, the slip frequency estimation method of speed is proposed to get a fast and rather precise speed control, leading to a high performance direct torque control of induction motor in low speed region. Finally, the experimental results show the validity of the proposed method.

Abstract:A feasible solution of sensorless direct torque control system based on the variable structure control theory was presented as viewed from the development of commercial available converters.The flux linkage and torque control strategies are simple and robust,and the corresponding rotor speed information is not required for the controllers.Space vector pulse width modulation is applied to the output voltage in order to reduce the ripples of the controlled variables.The rotational speed estimation is implemented through a model reference adaptive system(MRAS) method.The operating characteristics in the low speed are improved further by the dead-time compensation.A prototype of converter was developed,and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and validity of the proposed control strategy.

Abstract:To reduce traditional direct torque control (DTC) system low speed control precision and the large torque ripple in low speed, a fuzzy control system of DTC was proposed. On the basis of conventional PI regulator, a fuzzy speed PI regulator was designed according to speed error and its rate of change, which could adjust the proportional coefficient kp and integral coefficient kp dynamically to adapt the system to the speed variations, and advanced the self-adaptation of speed. In voltage vector fuzzy controller model, the stator flux angle, the stator flux error, and the torque error are reasonably fuzzified into several fuzzy subsets to optimize selection of the voltage vector and decrease the torque ripple. The experimental results show that the proposed fuzzy control system not only can ensure swift speed response, small overshooting, and high steady speed precision, but also can effectively decrease torque ripple in low speed. Additionally, the system improves the observation precision of the stator flux and enhances the robustness of the whole system

Abstract:This paper investigates the problem of angle optimization in direct instantaneous torque controlled (DITC) switched reluctance motor (SRM). The torque to ampere ratio (T/A) enlargement of the motor is studied through adjustment of switching angles in order to improve the efficiency of the motor. An optimization function is used to determine the proper switching angles in each operation point. The proposed method is quite easy to implement without complex algorithms. Simulation comparisons are also presented on a 12/8 switched reluctance motor to validate the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:In order to solve the problems of the torque ripple and variable switching frequency in traditional direct torque control(DTC) of the asynchronous machines,a new method based on duty ratio control was proposed in this paper.In duty ratio control technique,a zero voltage vector was applied in each sampling period to reduce the torque ripple.A new method of calculating the slopes of the rose and decline of the torque was proposed in this paper,the duty ratio can be calculated.Finally,the proposed strategy was verified by simulations.Simulation results show that a great reduction of torque ripple was achieved.The switch frequency of the inverter can be made constant by setting the fixed sampling period.Therefore,a good statistic and dynamic performance are obtained.

Abstract:This paper proposes a new optimum design method of switched reluctance motors (SRM) based on direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) algorithm. The total copper losses minimization of the motor has been investigated through adjusting of the stator pole arc and rotor pole arc in order to improve the efficiency of the motor. Meanwhile, the torque ripple can be limited within a range because of the use of DITC control method. This optimal method is processed combining the FET and MATLAB simulation. The simulation comparisons are also presented on a 12/8 switched reluctance motor to validate the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:The speed of a permanent magnet synchronous motor is acquired through a reduced-order Luenberger observer constructed through the stator q-axis current and speed equations.The observer is simple and can achieve fast convergence through adequate eigenvalues placement.A novel nonlinear control strategy —backstepping?— is used to design speed tracking and current control.The system can achieve fast speed tracking and torqure response.The proof of system stabilization is also given.Matlab simulation is performed to verify the efficiency and feasibility of the system design.

Abstract:Direct torque control is a variable-structure control strategy with simplicity, fast response, and tolerance to motor parameter variation, which provides direct control of stator flux and electromagnetic torque by optimally selecting the inverter states in each sampling period. For five-phase drives, the increased number of voltage vectors offers greater flexibility in optimizing the selection of the inverter states, thereby accomplishing more precise control of the stator flux and torque. Nevertheless, the large number of inverter states means that a more elaborate and complex selection criterion is needed. The following two aspects, which are not issues for three-phase drives, are taken into account in designing switching-table-based direct torque control for five-phase drives. First, the low-frequency harmonic currents due to the auxiliary vector plane need to be eliminated. Second, full utilization of the dc-link voltage is desired. A novel switching-table-based direct torque controller fulfilling these objectives is proposed and is combined with a speed-adaptive variable-structure observer. Experimental results substantiate the effectiveness of the proposed sensorless direct torque controller.

Abstract:Speedless sensor vector control is the key technique in high-performance application. In order to improve the performance of speed estimator at low speed, a speedless sensor control method based on a novel vector control is proposed. Rotor flux orientation is adopted to realize flux and torque decoupling. Speed estimation is obtained according to the error information of torque through a proportional integration adaptive mechanism based on the theory of model reference adaptive control (MRAC). It is demonstrated that estimated speed can trace the real speed very quickly and good performance is attained in low speed range.

Abstract:This paper proposed a new flux linkage detection method for direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) for switched reluctance motor (SRM). The proposed flux linkage detection method is a fast method without clamping devices. It consists of measuring and calculating steps. In the measuring step, at the intermediate position, current curves are measured under current chopper control (CCC). At the aligned and unaligned position, the current and voltage curves are measured when the winding is given a voltage pulse. In the calculating step, the flux- linkage characteristics can be calculated based on the measured critical curves. Based on the flux- linkage model, torque curves are calculated for direct instantaneous torque control. In this way, the entire flux linkage characteristics of a 7.5kw 12/8 SRM have been obtained. Experiments have been carried out to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method.

Abstract:A sensorless control method of permanent magnet synchronous motor for direct torque control that based on extended 0 Kalman filter is presented in this paper, which realizes the estimation of the stator magnetic flux and rotor speed. The initial position of rotor is not demanded for extended Kalman filter which is necessary in direct torque control. The method improves the correctness of the stator magnetic flux observing as well as the robustness to parameters changing and load disturbing. The validity of design is proved by simulation results.

Abstract:This paper proposes sensorless direct torque control for interior permanent-magnet synchronous motors using square-wave-type stator flux injection at low-speed regions. In direct torque control based on the current model, which is generally used at low-speed regions, a position sensor such an encoder is necessary to obtain the rotor position. However, the usage of the position sensor increases the system cost and volume. To overcome the drawbacks of the position sensor, a sensorless method estimating the rotor position without the use of a sensor is suggested. In the suggested conventional sensorless method, the rotor position is estimated by injecting sinusoidal stator flux, however, signal processing in the conventional method is complex. This paper presents an advanced method of estimating the rotor position using a square-wave-type stator flux injection. In the proposed method, the process for estimating the rotor position is simplified and the time delay decreases due to the elimination of the low-pass filter. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified via simulation and experimental results.

Abstract:This paper describes an investigation of direct torque control (DTC) for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. It is mathematically proven that the increase of electromagnetic torque in a permanent magnet motor is proportional to the increase of the angle between the stator and rotor flux linkages, and, therefore, the fast torque response can be obtained by adjusting the rotating speed of the stator flux linkage as fast as possible. It is also shown that the zero voltage vectors should not be used, and stator flux linkage should be kept moving with respect to the rotor flux linkage all the time. The implementation of DTC in the permanent magnet motor is discussed, and it is found that for DTC using available digital signal processors (DSPs), it is advantageous to have a motor with a high ratio of the rated stator flux linkage to stator voltage. The simulation results verify the proposed control and also show that the torque response under DTC is much faster than the one under current control.

Abstract:This paper proposes a method for direct torque control of Brushless DC (BLDC) motors. Evaluating the trapezium of back-EMF is needed, and is done via a sliding mode observer employing just one measurement of stator current. The effect of the proposed estimation algorithm is reducing the impact of switching noise and consequently eliminating the required filter. Furthermore, to overcome the uncertainties related to BLDC motors, Recursive Least Square (RLS) is regarded as a real-time estimator of inertia and viscous damping coefficients of the BLDC motor. By substituting the estimated load torque in mechanical dynamic equations, the rotor speed can be calculated. Also, to increase the robustness and decrease the rise time of the system, Modified Model Reference Adaptive System (MMRAS) is applied in order to design a new speed controller. Simulation results confirm the validity of this recommended method.

Abstract:The direct torque control Based on position sensor less control method and fuzzy controller was carried out aiming at the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) in this paper. To the consideration of electric vehicle space is limited and to reduce the controller size to save space, this paper studied the sensor less control. Hysteresis comparator of direct torque control easily results in high switching frequency of the inverter and may result in chaos, this paper studied the fuzzy controller. Meanwhile, in order to improve the control rapidity as much as possible of the electric vehicle, take direct torque control as a control method of the driving motor. Finally, designed the fuzzy sensor less direct torque controller and studied its simulation. Simulation results show that the control system have good dynamic and static characteristics, and can reduce the torque ripple and avoid chaotification in motor start-up stage.
