Abstract:In order to detect the flaws of large aperture optical components more efficiently and accurately,the paper proposes an optic micro-scattering-imaging detecting system which can recognize defects with micron size.The order of object view field for single aperture is only several millimeters,therefore,in order to examine defects of large aperture optical components,twodimension scanning stage is demanded to image the sub-apertures,and all the sub-apertures should be stitched.When scanning,the error of sub-aperture arrays which is induced by the error of institution would result in the mismatching of pixels at the stitching place,and even the failure of stitching,thus,it would affect the evaluation of defects detecting.Therefore,to make sure the successful synthesis of sub-apertures,this paper carried on analysis to the error which can significantly affect the correct stitching of sub-aperture,and figure out how to reduce the stitching error.

Abstract:A photon-counting lidar ranging system equipped with a single-photon detector and high-power laser sources for tracking low earth orbit (LEO) diffusely reflecting targets has attracted a large amount of attention, and the ranging performance is the key indicator of a laser ranging system. The fluctuation of the pointing error has a considerable effect on the ranging performance, and a theoretical model can be used to optimize the systematic parameters when the ranging system is designed. In this paper, the joint probability distribution function of the laser pointing error is first derived, from which an improved lidar equation that considers the pointing error is derived. The energy expectation value of laser illuminating LEO uncooperative targets is calculated and analyzed by this analytical expression. A Monte Carlo method is used to verify the energy expectation value, and the simulation results match the theoretical results well. The average signal photon number (calculated by the improved lidar equation) also matches well with the experiment conducted by the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory station. Next, the range performance model consists of the range walk error, and the ranging precision is further developed; the results indicate that the range walk error and ranging precision caused by the pointing error are increased to 31.75 cm and 2.5 cm, respectively, when the laser source is powerful (similar to 2 J) and the pointing error is approximately 1 ''. The value of the pointing error should be constrained to be less than 20% of the laser divergence angle to avoid a significant influence on the ranging performance. Abstract:A novel measurement of laser coarse-fine coupling tracking is proposed for robot trajectory errors, which can not only meet the requirements of large range, rapid response and dynamic tracking, but also achieve the high accuracy of submicroradian magnitude. The mathematic model of robot parameters is deduced according to the motion definition. An experiment platform together with the test system is built to complete the robot trajectory test. The circular and linear trajectory, as well as the harmonious motion parameters, is tested respectively. Some error factors affecting the test uncertainty are given to be considered according to the test experiment results.

Abstract:Star tracker is a high-accuracy attitude determination device widely used in spacecraft. A traditional star tracker obtain the attitude angle by calculating the centroids of star spots on photo detector. However, the directional accuracy is limited to arc-second level. In this paper, we introduce an interferometric star tracker. The interferometric star tracker improve the attitude accuracy by using interferometric components, the interference components consist of two identical gratings and several wedge plates. Tiny change of incident angle can be sensed by detecting the relative intensity of spots divided by the wedge plates. Optical design and accuracy analysis of interferometric star tracker were illustrated in this paper. The theoretical analysis indicates that accuracy of interferometric star tracker depend on the grating distance, grating period and gray level. In the laboratory experiment, the results show that that the relationship between the light intensity of each spot and incident angle can be expressed as a sinusoidal function, and the gray level difference of each spot can reach 1500, which means the accuracy can reach 0.2 " or even higher.
Error Correction Of Laser Scanning System For Reverse Engineering

Abstract:The current commercial laser probe is mounted on a computer controlled milling machine and the CAD/CAM integration can be easily achieved for the purpose of reverse engineering. As the laser probe is based on optical triangulation, the sensors are very sensitive to the parameters of the measured object, including color, material, roughness and relative angle between the laser beam and the object. We analyze the above-mentioned factors influencing the accuracy of the laser probes by simulation and experiment relatively. First, model of the systematic errors is developed based on principle of the optical triangulation and the simulation results of the model are given out. Then, experiments are carried out on the measurement error of the laser probe with respect to the color, material, roughness and the surface inclination. Finally, a software correction is applied the experimental calibration to the coordinate value of the measured point. The results show that the simulation model has the same changing trend as the experiment. The calibration to the laser probe by using the error correction method can improve the measurement accuracy for the free-form surfaces.

Abstract:The acquisition, alignment, and tracking system is an important part of airborne laser communication and is the prerequisite and guarantee for the normal communication link. In order to solve the problem of automatic tracking of laser communication links in the airborne environment, the rapid capture, alignment, and tracking of beams between terminals are realized. This article proposes a stepping motor as a control servo system and a four-quadrant detector as an automatic tracking method for the detection unit. The pulse width modulation signal controls the rotation speed of the stepping motor and combines the position distribution of the light spot on the four-quadrant detector to achieve high-precision beam tracking. On this basis, indoor simulation experiments are carried out. After many experiments, the tracking accuracy is better than 2.5 μrad, which shows that the system can be applied to airborne laser communication, and it is verified that this method has good automatic tracking performance for airborne laser communication.

Abstract:A Gaussian random-phase screen (GRPS) model is proposed to represent the low-frequency wave-front deformation in inter-satellite laser-communication links. The model is used to investigate mutual-alignment errors comprising pointing and tracking errors caused by the low-frequency deformation. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that the GRPS root-mean-square (RMS) value, pointing error, and tracking error increase with the amplitude factor and the scale length in the model. The expectation of RMS increases in the form of a linear function with and increases in the form of a cubic function with . The expectations of the pointing and tracking errors increase with increases in the expected values for and . For a specific pointing error or tracking error, the 99.5% confidence interval of the RMS of the low-frequency wave-front deformation is provided. From this confidence interval, the lower limit of the processing precision of optical antennas corresponding to certain mutual-alignment errors can be predicted. These conclusions are expected to be instrumental in designing inter-satellite laser-communication systems.

Abstract:Subaperture stitching method is used for optics surface defects detection by defects imaging. Stitching based on position is efficient while stitching error induced by the error of the scanning mechanism may cause defects dislocation. According to the stitching error analysis of spherical optics defects, a method based on Monte Carlo simulation is proposed in this paper. Firs t the volumetric error model is established based on mult ibody system theory. On this basis, the stitching error model is established and applied to compute error by Monte Carlo simulation. Analyze error and then define the tolerance of the scanning mechanism to limit stitching error. Simulation results of an optical element whose diameter is 60mm show that the scanning mechanism should satisfy that the positioning accuracy and straightness in Y direction of X axis, the run-out errors in X and Y direction of B axis, and the verticality between X and Y axis are less than 1 mu m, the run-out errors in X and Y direction of C axis are less than 2.8 mu m, the run-out errors of B and C are less than 4.6 mu m. Under such conditions, the stitching error will be less than 10 mu m.

Abstract:This paper proposed a design of algorithm of an excimer laser coaxial observation processing system which can automatically track preset line. With using of the Visual C + + image processing technology and the least square method, the XY axis in both directions of processing platform can obtain accurate processing displacement, and stability control platform for real-time tracking a straight line center. Processing system can acquire the coordinate of processing place where can get the distance from the centre of image in order to achieve real-time tracking.

Abstract:The quality of the ultra-short laser pulse need to be controlled in applications. In this paper, the effects on ultra-short laser pulse beam quality caused by surface errors and assembly errors in real optical systems is analyzed in a microscope objective system. Zernike polynomials are used to describe the surface errors and error limit is set for the tilt and decenter in assembly. When coming to calculations, we firstly take samples from the incident laser pulse and decompose it into different frequency components; then we use ray-tracing combing with diffraction integral from the exit pupil to the focal plane for calculation. According to the result of the calculation and analysis, we can reasonably control the surface errors and assembly errors in the microscope object system.

Abstract:In view of the factors affecting the accuracy of laser seeker detection, the working principle of laser seeker receiving laser signal was analysed. The laser convergence route of the optical system was studied. And the working principle of the quadrant detector (QD) is also analysed centrally. The influence of the light spot size and position, and also the different light spot pattern and the response consistency on the detection accuracy of the quadrant detector were analysed theoretically, and the simulation was verified by MATLAB. The results showed that when the light spot was half the size of the QD, the sensitivity and linearity of the detector were best. The quadrant detector had the characteristics of inconsistent response. The characteristics of response conformance was obtained by using mathematical method, so that the effect of its error was negligible by analysis.

Abstract:Photoelectric angle encoders, working as position sensors, have a great influence on the accuracy and stability of telescope control systems (TCS). In order to improve the tracking precision of TCS, a method based on subdivision error compensation for photoelectric angle encoders is proposed. First, a mathematical analysis of six types of subdivision errors (DC error, phase error, amplitude error, harmonic error, noise error, and quantization error) is presented, which is different from the previously used analysis based on the Lissajous figure method. In fact, we believe that a mathematical method is more efficient than the figure method for the expression of subdivision errors. Then, the distribution law and period length of each subdivision error are analyzed. Finally, an error compensation algorithm is presented. In a real TCS, the elevation jittering phenomenon occurs, which indicates that compensating for the amplitude error is necessary. A feed-forward loop is then introduced into the TCS, which is position loop- and velocity loop-closed, leading to a decrease of the tracking error by nearly 54.6%, from 2.31” to 1.05”, with a leading speed of 0.25°/s, and by 40.5%, from 3.01” to 1.79”, with a leading speed of 1°/s. This method can realize real-time compensation and improve the ability of TCS without any change of the hardware. In addition, independently of the environment and the kind of control strategy used, this method can also improve the tracking precision presumably because it compensates the measuring error inside the photoelectric angle encoder.

Abstract:Due to the limitations of traditional geometric error measurement, the measurement accuracy of long-stroke geometric errors is generally not high and the operation is complicated. In response to the above situation, in this study, a geometric error measurement system is built with a laser beam as the reference line and 2D position sensitive detector as the photoelectric conversion device. The single measurement range is 40 m, and the measurement range is further expanded through the principle of segmented splicing. Using an ultra-long guide rail as the measurement object for straightness measurement, the experimental results are similar to those of a laser interferometer. The uncertainty analysis model was obtained through the analysis of quantity characteristics, and based on this, the variance synthesis theorem and probability distribution propagation principle were studied to form two uncertainty synthesis methods. The measurement evaluation results showed that the two methods were basically consistent. The work provided a reference method for the uncertainty evaluation of position-sensitive detector measurement systems in the future.

Verification and analysis of stray light in high-power laser system

Abstract:In the high-power laser system, the stray light which is generated by the surface's residual reflection of optical elements and the multi-pass transmission in the system will lead to temperature increase in part of the system, the optical elements deformation and damage, distortion of wave-front and change of the beam's divergence angle, which seriously influence the beam's quality and propagation properties and damage the components in the system. So, it is very important to use the relevant software to analyze the stray light rigorously because the reliability and precision of the software is the guarantee of reliable results. Through two types of software we performed the simulation of the stray light in the system, including ghost's distribution in the case of different states of rotating defocusing, beam's pointing. Simultaneously, the impact of processing and assembling errors is analyzed in details. We built a specialized experiment to verify the reliability of results of the software and the related parameters of system are conveniently measured with the device.

Abstract:High efficiency and precision of the pot center detection are the foundations of avionics instrument navigation and optics measurement basis for many applications. It has noticeable impact on overall system performance. Among them, laser spot detection is very important in the optical measurement technology. In order to improve the low accuracy of the spot center position, the algorithm is improved on the basis of the circle fitting. The pretreatment is used by circle fitting, and the improved adaptive denoising filter for TV repair technology can effectively improves the accuracy of the spot center position. At the same time, the pretreatment and de-noising can effectively reduce the influence of Gaussian white noise, which enhances the anti-jamming capability.

Abstract:This paper proposes a theoretic error analysis framework as well as corresponding calibration methods for a mobile 3D data acquisition system equipped with LiDAR and GPS/IMU. Our framework considers inherent errors of variable sensors, installation errors, and time synchronization errors among different sensors. Our framework is enhanced by an empirical error analysis method based on a triangulated irregular network structure. Experimental results prove that the proposed error analysis methodology can provide accurate and efficient evaluation for mobile 3D data acquisition systems.
Study of proportional navigation guidance error caused by angular noise and glint effect

Abstract:The proportional navigation (PN) guidance error caused by angular noise (thermal noise) and glint effect in radar seeker receiver is studied. According to actual problems, a model of the PN guidance system is established. Considering the bandwidth of the angular noise is much large than the system bandwidth, so it is convenient to regard the angular noise as white noise. Also the low frequency glint is regarded as the white noise having passed through a first order filter. Simulation results demonstrate that the guidance error caused by angular noise and glint effect has a direct bearing on the dynamic characters of the seeker and autopilot. When the guidance time is longer, the miss distance due to angular noise has no relationship with guidance time. And there is a well-known technique called frequency agility which can be used to reduce the guidance error due to glint effect.

Abstract:Laser spot detection is an important step of laser triangulation and limits its accuracy. Common methods to determine the center position include circle fitting, the Hough transformation, the gray centroid method or Gaussian fitting. As these algorithms were often tested in different set-ups and under various conditions, they generally lead to diverse results. The aim of this contribution is to investigate the algorithms in a more objective and realistic approach. After a short introduction to laser triangulation, basic information about laser spot center detection is given. Fundamental limitations of the laser spot detection are then considered and analyzed. The investigations are followed by evaluations of measurements in a real laser triangulation setup. Through this approach we could show that the influence of the spatial quantization and the quantization due to the limited bit depth of the detector can be in a similar range as the deviation due to speckle noise in the image. By using adapted image processing steps, the performance of the laser spot center determination could be improved significantly.
