Abstract:An edge-transitive graph $\varGamma $ is called alternatively connected if a subgroup G of the automorphism group of $\varGamma $ has two orbits on the arc set of $\varGamma $, and there exists an alternative walk (with respect to a given G-orbit on arcs) between every pair of vertices of $\varGamma $. Employing the standard double covers of digraphs, we give some basic properties of alternatively connected edge-transitive graphs. The main result of this paper is a reduction result on alternatively connected edge-transitive graphs of square-free order. As an application of this result, we give a characterization for alternatively connected edge-transitive graphs of square-free order and valency 6. It is proved that such a graph is either a circulant or constructed from $\mathrm{PSL}(2,p)$.
On the connectivity of enhanced power graph of finite group

Abstract:This paper deals with the vertex connectivity of enhanced power graph of finite group. We classify all abelian groups G such that vertex connectivity of enhanced power graph of G is 1. We derive an upper bound of vertex connectivity for the enhanced power graph of any general abelian group G. Also we completely characterize all abelian group G, such that the proper enhanced power graph is connected. Moreover, we study some special class of non-abelian group G such that the proper enhanced power graph is connected and we find their vertex connectivity.

Abstract:Connectivity is a fundamental attribute crucial for the efficiency of interconnection networks, especially in domains requiring robust communication infrastructures. A natural generalization of the connectivity is the generalized connectivity introduced by Hager (J Combin Theory Ser B 38:179–189, 1985). This paper explores the problem of determining the generalized 4-connectivity of the alternating group network (ANn$$AN_n$$), motivated by the challenges inherent in designing resilient and efficient networks. We prove that for any set of four vertices in ANn$$AN_n$$, there exist n-2$$n-2$$ trees in ANn$$AN_n$$ having in common exactly these four vertices, offering insights into the network’s structural characteristics with implications for applications demanding resilient communication paths. Additionally, we establish the value of the generalized 4-edge-connectivity of ANn$$AN_n$$.

Group connectivity of 3-edge-connected signed graphs

Abstract:Jaeger, Linial, Payan, and Tarsi introduced the notion of $A$-connectivity for graphs in 1992, and proved a decomposition for cubic graphs from which $A$-connectivity follows for all 3-edge-connected graphs when $|A|\geq 6$. The concept of $A$-connectivity was generalized to signed graphs by Li, Luo, Ma, and Zhang in 2018 and they proved that all 4-edge-connected flow-admissible signed graphs are $A$-connected when $|A|\geq 4$ and $|A|\neq 5$. We prove that all 3-edge-connected flow-admissible signed graphs are $A$-connected when $|A|\geq 6$ and $|A|\neq 7$. Our proof is based on a decomposition that is a signed-graph analogue of the decomposition found by Jaeger et. al, and which may be of independent interest.

Abstract:The symmetric difference of two graphs $G_1,G_2$ on the same set of vertices $V$ is the graph on $V$ whose set of edges are all edges that belong to exactly one of the two graphs $G_1,G_2$. For a fixed graph $H$ call a collection ${\cal G}$ of spanning subgraphs of $H$ a connectivity code for $H$ if the symmetric difference of any two distinct subgraphs in ${\cal G}$ is a connected spanning subgraph of $H$. It is easy to see that the maximum possible cardinality of such a collection is at most $2^{k'(H)} \leq 2^{\delta(H)}$, where $k'(H)$ is the edge-connectivity of $H$ and $\delta(H)$ is its minimum degree. We show that equality holds for any $d$-regular (mild) expander, and observe that equality does not hold in several natural examples including any large cubic graph, the square of a long cycle and products of a small clique with a long cycle.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly investigate $K_{1,2}$-structure-connectivity for any connected graph. Let $G$ be a connected graph with $n$ vertices, we show that $\kappa(G; K_{1,2})$ is well-defined if $diam(G)\geq 4$, or $n\equiv 1\pmod 3$, or $G\notin \{C_{5},K_{n}\}$ when $n\equiv 2\pmod 3$, or there exist three vertices $u,v,w$ such that $N_{G}(u)\cap (N_{G}(v,w)\cup\{v,w\})=\emptyset$ when $n\equiv 0\pmod 3$. Furthermore, if $G$ has $K_{1,2}$-structure-cut, we prove $\kappa(G)/3\leq\kappa(G; K_{1,2})\leq\kappa(G)$.

Some Properties of Proper Power Graphs in Finite Abelian Groups

Abstract:The power graph of a group $G$, denoted as $P(G)$, constitutes a simple undirected graph characterized by its vertex set $G$. Specifically, vertices $a,b$ exhibit adjacency exclusively if $a$ belongs to the cyclic subgroup generated by $b$ or vice versa. The corresponding proper power graph of $G$ is obtained by taking $P(G)$ and removing a vertex corresponding to the identity element, which is denoted as $P^*(G)$. In the context of finite abelian groups, this article establishes the sufficient and necessary conditions for the proper power graph's connectedness. Moreover, a precise upper bound for the diameter of $P^*(G)$ in finite abelian groups is provided with sharpness. This article also explores the study of vertex connectivity, center, and planarity.

Abstract:Win proved a very famous conclusion that states the graph G with connectivity ? (G), independence number a (G) and a (G) = ?(G) + k - 1 (k = 2) contains a spanning k-ended tree. This means that there exists a spanning tree with at most k leaves. In this paper, we strengthen the Win theorem to the following: Let G be a simple 2-connected graph such that |V(G) | = 2? (G) + k, a (G) = ?(G) + k (k = 2) and the number of maximum independent sets of cardinality ? + k is at most n - 2? - k + 1. Then, either G contains a spanning k-ended tree or a subgraph of K-? V ((k + ? - 1)K1U Kn-2?-k+1).

Abstract:In this paper, we classify all the finite groups $G$ such that the commuting graph $\Gamma_C(G)$, order-sum graph $\Gamma_{OS}(G)$ and non-inverse graph $\Gamma_{NI}(G)$ are minimally edge connected graphs. We also classify all the finite groups $G$ for that, these graphs are minimally connected. We also classify some groups for that the co-prime graph $\Gamma_{CP}(G)$ has minimal edge connectedness. In final part, we classify all the finite groups $G$ for that co-prime graph $\Gamma_{CP}(G)$ is minimally connected.

Abstract:Given a finite group $G$, the Engel graph of $G$ is a directed graph encoding pairs of elements satisfying some Engel word. From the work of Detomi, Lucchini and Nemmi, the strongly connectivity of the Engel graph of an arbitrary group $G$ is reduced to the understanding of the strongly connectivity of the Engel graph of non-abelian simple groups. In this paper, we investigate the strongly connectivity of the Engel graph of finite non-abelian simple groups.

Abstract:<p>We study a family of directed random graphs whose arcs are sampled independently of each other, and are present in the graph with a probability that depends on the attributes of the vertices involved. In particular, this family of models includes as special cases the directed versions of the Erdős‐Rényi model, graphs with given expected degrees, the generalized random graph, and the Poissonian random graph. We establish a phase transition for the existence of a giant strongly connected component and provide some other basic properties, including the limiting joint distribution of the degrees and the mean number of arcs. In particular, we show that by choosing the joint distribution of the vertex attributes according to a multivariate regularly varying distribution, one can obtain scale‐free graphs with arbitrary in‐degree/out‐degree dependence.</p>

Make a graph singly connected by edge orientations

Abstract:A directed graph $D$ is singly connected if for every ordered pair of vertices $(s,t)$, there is at most one path from $s$ to $t$ in $D$. Graph orientation problems ask, given an undirected graph $G$, to find an orientation of the edges such that the resultant directed graph $D$ has a certain property. In this work, we study the graph orientation problem where the desired property is that $D$ is singly connected. Our main result concerns graphs of a fixed girth $g$ and coloring number $c$. For every $g,c\geq 3$, the problem restricted to instances of girth $g$ and coloring number $c$, is either NP-complete or in P. As further algorithmic results, we show that the problem is NP-hard on planar graphs and polynomial time solvable distance-hereditary graphs.

Abstract:The generalized $k$-connectivity of a graph $G$, denoted by $\kappa_k(G)$, is the minimum number of internally edge disjoint $S$-trees for any $S\subseteq V(G)$ and $|S|=k$. The generalized $k$-connectivity is a natural extension of the classical connectivity and plays a key role in applications related to the modern interconnection networks. The godan graph $EA_n$ is a kind of Cayley graphs which posses many desirable properties. In this paper, we shall study the generalized 4-connectivity of $EA_n$ and show that $\kappa_4(EA_n)=n-1$ for $n\ge 3$.

Abstract:The generalized $k$-connectivity $\kappa_k(G)$ of a graph $G$, introduced by Hager in 1985, is a natural generalization of the concept of connectivity $\kappa(G)$, which is just for $k=2$. Total graph is generalized line graph and a large graph which obtained by incidence relation between vertices and edges of original graph. T. Hamada and T. Nonaka et al., in \cite{Hamada} determined the connectivity of the total graph $T(G)$ for a graph $G$. In this paper we determine the generalized $k$-(edge)-connectivity of total graph $T(G)$ for $k=3$.

Abstract:Given a conjugacy class $\mathcal{C}$ in a group $G$ we define a new graph, $\Gamma(\mathcal{C})$, whose vertices are elements of $\mathcal{C}$; two vertices $g,h\in \mathcal{C}$ are connected in $\Gamma(\mathcal{C})$ if $[g,h]=1$ and either $gh^{-1}$ or $hg^{-1}$ is in $\mathcal{C}$. We prove a lemma that relates the binary actions of the group $G$ to connectivity properties of $\Gamma(\mathcal{C})$. This lemma allows us to give a complete classification of all binary actions when $G=A_n$, an alternating group on $n$ letters with $n\geq 5$.

Abstract:We say a directed graph $G$ on $n$ vertices is irredundant if the removal of any edge reduces the number of ordered pairs of distinct vertices $(u,v)$ such that there exists a directed path from $u$ to $v$. We determine the maximum possible number of edges such a graph can have, for every $n \in \mathbb{N}$. We also characterize the cases of equality. This resolves, in a strong form, a question of Crane and Russell.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a set of given connected graphs. A graph $G$ is said to be $\mathcal{H}$-free if $G$ contains no $H$ as an induced subgraph for any $H\in \mathcal{H}$. The graph $G$ is super-edge-connected if each minimum edge-cut isolates a vertex in $G$. In this paper, except for some special graphs, we characterize all forbidden subgraph sets $\mathcal{H}$ such that every $\mathcal{H}$-free is super-edge-connected for $|\mathcal{H}|=1$ and $2$.
